I wish I could enjoy this game. The environment and atmosphere are exactly what I was looking for — oppressive, alien, and genuinely breathtaking. Scorn's world delivers on every promise its aesthetic makes. It is precisely the kind of game I have been waiting for. Then combat starts. There is no dodge mechanic. Enemies fire ranged attacks. Scorn is more of an experience than a traditional game. It places the player inside a vast biomechanical world where you feel small and powerless. The character moves slowly and heavily on purpose, making you feel the weight and vulnerability of every action. The atmosphere doesn’t rely on jump scares. Instead, it constantly presses on the player, creating discomfort and tension. Visually, Scorn resembles Prometheus …

Players who liked Scorn talk about atmosphere and visual design are widely praised; those who didn't talk about combat is clunky and frustrating. Which matters more to you?

Critics, per Wikipedia

Scorn received "mixed or average" reviews, according to the review aggregator Metacritic. Though praised for its puzzles and art direction, Scorn faced frequent criticisms for its combat, which many reviewers felt was tedious and unnecessary. PC Gamer US described the game as a surreal horror adventure, and said: "the striking visual feast of the alien capital, accompanied by mournful audio, practically moved me to tears. It was so strange and wonderful, and seemed to hint at some greater mystery at the heart of Scorn". Conversely, they sometimes criticized unclear gameplay and the checkpoint system. Alessandro Barbosa of GameSpot praised Scorn for its interesting setting and aesthetic, but…

A weird game, but not in a good way. It really feels like the developers had a fantastic vision for the first and last Acts of this game that is worth experiencing, and then went "oh I guess we need more content" and then bloated the middle with some baffling stuff. I really like the silent story, the limited colour palette and music, and the idea of exploring some kind of alien-human factory and doing puzzles. The first level really hits on all those points and even gives you some player…

I caught sight of Scorn because of its amazing HR Giger-inspired art style, which is mainly known through the Alien movie series. As a huge fan of HR Giger, this game seemed perfect for me. I'm fascinated by the oppressive atmosphere, the soundscape and detailed art style, but in the end I'm still not sure what Scorn wants to be. It's a mixture between Walking Sim, Puzzle Solver, Atmospheric Horror and Ego-Shooter with a lot of blood and mutilation. I mean, this can be great if every part…

No explanation, no tutorial, no objective marker, no guidance of any kind, no dialogue, no text logs, and barely any music. I didn't really understand what the player character's goal was... I didn't understand what I was doing, the names of the weapon, or anything else, and it felt as if I had woken up in an alien world with no memory of anything... that was point of the game though... to sink into the atmosphere and feel the tension, and it worked.

I honestly enjoyed it, the atmosphere is nice, and the combat gets better. This is mainly a puzzle game, I can see why it has the horror tag but it's not scary, it's grotesque. I loved the atmosphere, the fleshy environment and the constant feeling of sadness and how apathetic your character is. The ending was a bit letdown, and there aren't multiple endings. 8/10!

♥♥♥♥♥♥ up FPS/Puzzle love child of H.R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński. Fair warning, it feels more like an interactive art piece than a game given there was no dialogue or text only environmental storytelling which isn't a bad thing at all but also understandably isn't everyone's cup of tea.

The atmosphere is outstanding. It could have been a great horror walking simulator with puzzle aspects. I want to recommend with a thumbs up, but I can't. Here is what kills it: - The combat is frustratingly cumbersome. Everything is slow. That includes stashing ammo, reloading, switching weapons. Everything has an animation that prevents you from running. Fighting more than 1 enemy is challenging in an unrewarding way. I feel like given the setting and atmosphere, I would have preferred…

Scorn is a remarkable example of a game with a solid art style, but poor game design beyond the impressive visuals. The most common critique of Scorn I've seen is that the combat is clunky, but in the whopping four hours it took me to complete this $40 game (including pause breaks), I've found that the issues spread far beyond the combat. The issues with Scorn lie with having large, detailed levels but with very little to do in them aside from walk through corridors and solve the occasional…

This game is eye-candy for those who enjoy the H.R. Geiger-esque environments. That being said this is basically a walking sim with puzzles, and I really wish it wasn't. As you explore the world, you get more and more wrapped into the mystery of it all. Sadly, this game falls off in providing a satisfying resolve to the questions which arise; and while I'm no stranger to games leaving things unresolved, at this price tag, I would've hoped for something more. A well crafted game. Sound, visuals, level design. There's so much to enjoy in this game. This is what I think the story is really about but it's my opinion though. SPOILER ALERT: This game is about sex and reproduction, in fact it's more so about birth and pregnancy complications. How so? Well the story is about 2 Siamese twins that struggle to be born. Heya folks, here's a set of screens from SCORN by Ebb Software, and Kepler Interactive. So, going into this game I was expecting a survival horror game, but it's actually more like Myst, than anything else. #scorn #videogames #indiegames #puzzlegames #screenshots

Scorn offers an excellent atmosphere, immersive ambient sound design, and striking gore visuals. The story works without dialogue, and it's easy to understand what's going on through the environment alone. Combat is not particularly challenging, and progression is fairly straightforward. A strong audiovisual experience, especially for fans of dark and unconventional worlds. 8/10.

Visually, this is a great game. Like seriously, Scorn is nothing short of an interactive art piece. Being able to pull themes from the environment about the corruption of advancement and the greed of society makes this experience undeniably though provoking, if not simply beautiful. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. The gameplay itself is lackluster, the combat is clunky and boring, and the story is almost non-existent. In terms of gameplay, all you get are puzzles that fall…

Visually, Scorn resembles Prometheus and the Engineer ships from the Alien universe. Some elements also feel…

A true escape from reality, into a dark, fleshly pit of despair. As someone who doesn't enjoy puzzle games, and gets irritated quite easily by overly complicated scenarios, I enjoyed this one! This was a fun ride into madness and beauty. Scorn is genius; H. R. Giger would be proud xD Be warned! This is important to know before going in. This game requires a different mindset. Scorn is a slow burn, quiet, immersive, and puts you into a meditative state. Go in knowing full well the hardest…
