I bought this game thinking I'd play for 30 minutes, just for starters, to get the gist of it. Eight hours later, I have opinions about parchment quality, a suspicious emotinal attachment to all of my works, and the growing realization that I may have been born 700 - 800 years too late. What suprised me the most is how relaxing the game is, while still being absurdly addictive. No frantic chaos - just the empty …

If you are a D&D dungeon master in a fantasy / medieval setting then you need this. The sandbox mode is worth the price of admission alone. This game will sell many thousands of copies for this reason alone. If you're here for a good game then you're also in the right place. Scriptorium MoM is a delightfully whimsical game that is fun to play, stable, and well conceived. The sheer number of ways that you can combine …

Scriptorium is a very charming game with a lot of thought and care put into it. Unlike many other art based games, it requires next to no skill or talent from the player, so it is a lot more accessible. Most players will manage to create a decent looking piece with a modicum of effort. The gameplay loop is satisfying and addictive enough that you will suddenly realise you spent hours putting little hats on mice and …

Overall I would recommend the game based on what it is right now. That said, I hope it continues to improve. I've tried the gameplay loop but to be honest, I've struggled to get into that. Instead I've spent hours in the sandbox and I love it! However, the Capital letters seen in the Demo and the Trailer are not in the game yet (developer has said there will be an update in a few weeks). There is no way to save/edit …

Potioncraft and MSPaint made a biblically accurate baby. The game is an asset drag and drop, but it does such a good job of mimicking the style of illuminated manuscripts. The sandbox mode is going to be a lot of fun for creating handouts and things for RPG's. The one extra thing I really want in Sandbox mode is a plain modern white sheet of 8"X11" paper in portrait and landscape orientations so I can more easily …

Reviewers widely described Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts as "cosy" and "comfortable", and noted the absence of AI-generated content, with the library of in-game pictures being purely human-made. I've had a blast so far; it lets you create your own medieval manuscript, with many resources based on historical manuscripts. I did manage to make Anfor in his shop!

positive · AI labelView post →Scriptorium, the medieval manuscript game by @yazagames.com, just released a new update with a lot of new assets, including some inspired by the "Très Riches Heures", so I had to try to recreate the Fauvel, Reynard and Isengrim drawing I made earlier this year.

There is of course a demo still up to check out, which is great!
neutral · AI labelView post →I'm not very far into the game and have been experimenting with various pieces of the game and it's sandbox mode. The biggest issues are: Not being able to make multiple sandboxes Not being able to return to a sandbox after exporting it I want to use this to make things for DND characters and games, and with those games and characters evolving as time goes by I need to be able to return to a document and add more or change things as time goes by. This is something that absolutely MUST be added…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve not reviewed a Steam game in over 15 years, but there has been a lot of love and work put into this game and it is well worth the price of admission! I’ve found the campaign mode to be fun and am excited at the possibilities that the sandbox mode offers. Potential improvements (launch day feedback): * Easier object grouping options for manipulating multi object creations. * Being able to save groupings of objects to use easily across multiple compositions in sandbox mode. * Having…

positive · AI labelView post →I love this game. Only thing i would improve: I wish there were more quests for replicating art (either medieval or re-created by authors). It would help me learn more about the elements you use and how to put them together in new inventive ways and to create something similar to the illuminated manuscripts of old, not just my modern freestyle :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts by @yazagames.com is finally out!! positive · AI labelView post →This game is AMAZING!! It feels like it was made just for me. I don't have a single artistic bone in my body and yet I can create amazing, beautiful and funny illustrations super easily. It's so fun and rewarding, and the story mode really makes me invested in the silly NPCs and their background stories. I see myself playing this game for years and can recommend it to absolutely everyone!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately it is not in my wheelhouse or something i would continually play-- i prefer something more constructive and more in-depth and will be refunding the game. But overall I can say that this game should gain some ground for those who want a light hearted and well made game. The puzzles in the story mode has an interesting approach for the main objectives, and has extra objectives to figure out. I gave this a positive recommendation primarily due to the hard work and dedication it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm genuinely obsessed with this game. I had been following it's development for a while, and as an artist and a medievalist I was mostly intrigued in the sandbox aspect of the game. Well, the entire 10.5 hours of playtime I've logged has been in the actual campaign mode. I absolutely LOVE the gameplay loop. The challenges are so fun, and it's incredibly exciting for me to adhere to the different specifications of commissions, and just have fun with it! I love the process of pigment…

positive · AI labelView post →This game requires player buy in. It's a fun, creative tool with prompts disguised as a plot. It's relaxing, it's adorable, it's ridiculous in the best sort of way. You could 100% cheese your way through every mission without engaging with the prompts and still complete the game, but to do so would be to miss the point entirely. It's not about beating the game, it's about engaging with it and making something. The game doesn't judge your creations, but to take advantage of that to speed run the…

Takes me back to when I was little and while everyone else was playing Word Munchers and Oregon Trail on floppy discs, there I was. Eyes strained from staring at the screen, carpal tunnel already starting in my little child wrists, trying to place things just right on the screen playing ... Storybook Weaver. Y'all. Y'ALL. You want to "draw" a bunny with a human bum? I did! But if you're at all like me, you may not be the best artist. I think of myself as a modestly-competent draftsman at best. If you can visualize what you want to achieve, of course. I've got a buddy who struggles with that visualization, and this is not for him. Maybe for his lovely wife the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Within its bounds, one may conjure the most fantastical illuminations and curious works of medieval craft that the mind dare imagine. Verily, it is as a sandbox of merry chaos, wherein quills and pigments obey not reason, but fancy. I confess, I have already surrendered many an hour to its delights, though it was but released the eve afore (I prithee, gaze not upon mine gameplay hours). Time itself seemeth to slip like sand through the glass whilst I labor in gleeful creation. Should…

I wasn't sure just making art, simply for the sake of it, would keep me coming back. It's hard enough to make real art these days without feeling like a profit-hustle needs to be attached to it, but this keeps me coming back. The game design alone is fantasticly balanced, with money and influence coming at a steady and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm at a 'maybe' right now. Leaning no until improvements are made. And it's mainly a gameplay issue. My main gripes with it: There is no label for items. Hover your mouse over and no name comes up. Not a name for the shoe, or body part, or animal part, or whatever. There are 2538 items in the sketch shop. There are buttons on the side for broad categories. But you cannot search for anything by name. For example, I chose a contract where a guy saved a king. And the extra wish was to…
