See No Evil, Hear No Evil
Directed by Arthur Hiller
A murder takes place in the shop of David Lyons, a deaf man who fails to hear the gunshot being fired. Outside, blind man Wally Karue hears the shot, but cannot see the perpetrator. neutral · AI labelView post →For Richard Pryor my brother suggested SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL (1989) or SILVER STREAK (1976). I am going with THE TOY (1982) because I had an American lit professor in college who was /convinced/ this movie was a Rosetta stone for understanding America’s original sin.

Some of the dialogue and delivery still makes me crease up. What a friendship, and double act.

Much brighter and more himself. We did a massive city walk and also hit the dog park. If he doesn't sleep well, I will...

Loved 'See No Evil, Hear No Evil' as a kid, but it left me almost completely cold on recent re-watch. I'd hate to have that happen with 'Nuns On The Run'.

neutral · AI labelView post →#MovieChallenge 3: See No Evil, Hear No Evil. The ultimate buddy comedy movie as the finely honed chemistry between Pryor and Wilder hits peak with the juxtaposition of their disabilities. Kevin Spacey pretending to be British is also unintentionally hilarious. 7/10

neutral · AI labelView post →Finished See No Evil Hear No Evil - another film from the best year of movies 1989. This is Wilder and Pryor’s best movie out of the four they made together. Joan Severance is an absolute smoke show in this film. Still as funny as it was in 89 but some may find it offensive now.

positive · AI labelView post →See No Evil, Hear No Evil directed by Arthur Hiller is 80’s comedy genius. Gene Wilder is deaf, Richard Pryor is blind, they witness a murder and run from the killers together. Both are comedy legends and they’re even funnier together. Don’t die before seeing this movie. www.imdb.com/title/tt0098...

Nothing clever is done with the premise, and there’s no indication anyone blind or deaf was consulted. See (and Hear) a better movie instead

neutral · AI labelView post →"See No Evil, Hear No Evil" is a very entertaining film and it is the perfect vehicle for the combined talents of Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder simply because it takes a straight forward central idea - Pryor is blind and Wilder is deaf - and it proceeds to place the pair in a succession of outrageous situations which quite frankly only they could perform as realistically as they do. This film also serves up a really generous ration of genuine laughs and it provides an empowering and positive…
