neutral · AI labelView post →When I was DEFINITELY too young, like maybe 10~12ish, a guy in a used video place sold me Ghost in the Shell (the first movie) and it changed my life, I then read the manga a little later, and it changed my life even more. Major Kusanagi was so formative she became gender goals. 🤣

neutral · AI labelView post →INSIDE THE YELLOW COCOON SHELL (Phạm Thiên Ân, 2023). I found this Vietnamese film quietly mesmerising. Very little seems to happen here - a woman dies in a motorcycle crash, and her brother-in-law goes on a sort of pilgrimage with his young nephew, who is too young to understand that >> #FilmSky
neutral · AI labelView post →this reminds me of watching the ScarJo GHOST IN THE SHELL movie on FreeTV...getting to the end, clearly at the final shot, music building for a dramatic cut to credits and... "LIMUUUU EMUUUUUU...and DOUG!"
neutral · AI labelView post →Looking at this reminded me of Shell City from the first SpongeBob movie

It has aged better than Akira (and been more sadly relevant). The animation obviously holds up, but so does the story. When I did my...
positive · AI labelView post →I second Unboxious' recommendation of *Ghost in the Shell*. You've seen Oshii's movie, so maybe try [2026 version](https://myanimelist.net/anime/58929/Koukaku_Kidoutai_TV), it's pretty different in tone, but Major stil remains badass. Also: - [Assassination Classroom](https://myanimelist.net/anime/24833/Ansatsu_Kyoushitsu) – Koro-sensei is quite a role model - [Classroom of the Elite](https://myanimelist.net/anime/35507/Youkoso_Jitsuryoku_Shijou_Shugi_no_Kyoushitsu_e) – it's very edgy, so…
neutral · AI labelView post →I still remember reading Ebert’s 4-star review of Ghost in the Shell and how he talked about it like just another *movie*, full stop, no asterisk, no “…for a cartoon.” Hard to describe how revolutionary that level of cultural conversation felt in 1996.
neutral · AI labelView post →🥱 quality > quantity is my very kneejerk reaction to this I'm not sure there's anything about this game that might make wanna play it. The first game was horrendous, the remake was very mid, and the CEO is a pig. Maybe they'll surprise us like Mortal Shell 2 did?
neutral · AI labelView post →Ghost in the Half-Shell. (It was a book, long before it was a movie.) K-Pop Idols of Perversity. (Actually, that doesn't sound ruined at all.) Simon and Schuster's Guide to Catgirls. Fear of a Queer Pizza Planet. (Just looking at my bookshelf.)
neutral · AI labelView post →Oh you have entered my Special Interest Please please please watch the sequel, Ghost in the Shell: Innocence. It is massively underrated and my absolute favorite movie full stop.
neutral · AI labelView post →Another live action Ghost in the Shell. Do the casting right this time. I also think that the extant film looks good enough that a clever writer could re-write and have the dialogue dubbed and edited to cut down the problematic parts and stuff that didn't work too well
neutral · AI labelView post →I just watched the first couple episodes of the new Ghost In The Shell anime and even though I enjoyed the 90s movie I already like this version a lot more. I just enjoy how much more fun and colorful this version is. I also just love Science Saru. I am loving this show so far!
positive · AI labelView post →Mamoru Oshii's Ghost in the Shell. I now own more copies of it including Japanese editions, the 4K etc., than any other film - more than David Lynch's Mulholland Dr. which I have 3 copies of.
neutral · AI labelView post →Mamoru Oshii's Ghost in the Shell is still an incredibly powerful film when you finally see it in a theater even if you've watched it 3 times in the last like 9 months

neutral · AI labelView post →I realised you just have to unlock everything even if you have preferred characters so you can further improve your build. It's just fun running the numbers and becoming unstoppable. I picked one up called Vital Shell where you control a gundam and it looks like a Dreamcast/PS1 game. I also figure they'll be good games for my kids to start with because they just have to talk around and not get hit.

neutral · AI labelView post →Well, and isn’t that just the point of #ReelRank Awards? To shine a spotlight on deserving, underappreciated films or aspects of film. Not that Ghost in the Shell isn’t beloved or revered, but I don’t usually hear its writing shouted out, specially 🤓
neutral · AI labelView post →I finally watched the original Ghost in the Shell movie and uh, I didn't really like it. I'm glad my first experience with this IP was the science saru anime.
negative · AI labelView post →「Ghost in the Shell Live Action」 There’s a lot of things you can say is wrong with this film and be correct, but the most egregious sin it commits is making the Major job several times and not one instance is it ever justified. Also just worse versions of every iconic scene.

neutral · AI labelView post →We saw it in theater together; Jim would lean over at certain points and whisper "See this scene? Wow, it connects to this..." Same with live action Ghost in the Shell, Villenueve's Dune, every Marvel/DC movie (he was a *serious* comic book collector)... Miss you, Jim.
neutral · AI labelView post →Finished up watching The Ghost In The Shell - the new one, that is. The newest one. There's so damn many of these haha But I think it's a very good adaptation. Pulls ideas from SAC and the original film and executes them well. Sits nicely between SAC and Arise as to how much I like it.
positive · AI labelView post →now that we've made a Ghost In The Shell series that's more faithful to the manga, can we make some original movies that have whatever crazy vibe was going on in the '95 movie

A producer would ask him if he'd figured out the final act or whatever and he'd be like "yeah, it's great, you'll love it" while having no idea how the movie was going to end lol.
neutral · AI labelView post →Have you ever considered that audiences who hail from the place where Ghost in the Shell media originated might have a more nuanced view of how the live-action film handled things? You missed this, btw:
neutral · AI labelView post →Uhhh there hasn't been a single anime TV series that has better animation than the original Ghost in the Shell movie. Factually. They don't have the budgets. Even movie wise there is only a handful that can match its animation quality and most are either other Oshii movies, Ghibli or Redline.

positive · AI labelView post →On the other hand, I love Death Note and Ghost in the Shell (the latter being a film). I think I’d also love Akira if I were to watch it.
positive · AI labelView post →53) Ghost In The Shell (1995 movie) - idk if it's just that this is something old that has been redone a million times so it didn't feel unique but i didn't really get captured by the story or script as much as i wanted but the visual art, fucking goddamn excellent all the way through!
neutral · AI labelView post →The original 1995 Ghost in the Shell movie theme song still haunts me. The sound, tone, and tenor was so ominous. The 90's were a special time, man.
neutral · AI labelView post →Cowboy Bebop is my favorite anime. The original Ghost in the Shell movie is the first anime I ever saw. This is about shows influential to me. I like DBZ, but it's not among my all-time favorites. I'd probably replace it with Violet Evergarden if this was only favorites.
