Let me start by this… The combat system is awful. And this is always a big minus if combat is one of the game’s main elements. It is especially bad at the beginning and gets slightly better and more interesting later on, but it isn’t amazing. It is even far from being good. The art style is… cute? I don’t know. It might appeal to kids, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. The story is okay, nothing extraordinary. Quite bad …

I was meant to do a review about this game but this game kicked me right in my feels (or nuts in this case). Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom have a very intresting gameplay, story, graphic and not to forget, language. Yes, the game has it's own language called "maherian". Shiness: The Lightning Kingdoms story is about a young boy named Chado who are traveling with his bestfriend Poky. Shado have a nature spirit called shiness who he can communicate with but the thing is, he is the only one…

Developers need to remember that some people have dyslexia and can't read as fast as others. This is the number 1 problem in some games as I miss information because of a simple disability. All you need to do is leave it a little bit longer, add voice acting, or have a button prompt. it's not rocket science. pretty much 99% of games can do this, why can't you?

I was very disappointed in this game. I backed it on Kickstarter, but honestly it did not live up to the hype generated initially. The characters are cringe and the design incomplete. Feels like something that go thrown out the door half baked just to relieve themselves of the development cycle. Wouldn't have minded but I gave them many years to patch it up, just found out the dev went bankrupt. Which doesn't surprise me, consdiering the game was genuinely just not very good.

It's a very different take on the action RPG, and while I like some of what's here, I just can't overlook the flaws. The world is colorful and interesting and there's an interesting combat system, so I still might consider getting the sequel, should they ever finish the story... but this game has a handful of issues I really can't get over. The writing is... weak, and the voice acting doesn't do it any favors. The characters are, for the most part, pretty one-dimensional, if they're even…

“The past is never where you think you left it.” ~Katherine Anne Porter Sometimes, the weird things happen. But let's not start with that. Instead, let me ask you a question. Do you like retro games? Well, most of us do. Even those who aren't old enough to remember the days when those were originally released, with most of the modern AAA games being pretty much the same exact movie-like experience, more and more people begin to look into the past for some thrills. And you know what? It's a…

The battle mechanic is just ok, nothing really special. the world is confusing and difficult to navigate. Most frustratingly, the environment seems like it's built for platforming, maybe not as a main gameplay mechanic but certainly as a way to get around faster. Unfortunately, jumping is barely functioning, so this goes nowhere. Nothing really exciting about this game, I guess you'd like it if you were a furry.

The combat is a bit unfair sometimes, the enemies will often bombard you with attacks and often time you'll be left confused as to what is happening in combat. The game is very pretty and its hard not to ignore the views and atmosphere. I would recommend if the combat system was a bit better. Normally I write sh*tpost copypasta reviews, but this game was pretty special. Let me first start off by saying that Shiness is admittedly a bit rough around the edges, so don’t go comparing it to it’s AAA counterparts. By rough I mean: - Fighting difficulty alternates between very easy, very hard, then very easy again. - Probably the most confusing UI and menu design I’ve recently experienced in a game (until you just get used to it). - Story isn’t explained at all? And seems pretty hard to…

If you are a PC user and not owning or not liking to play on a Controller, don't buy this. Not getting past the "use a potion" part due to wrong standard key bindings, this game is all but not playable. I tried to reconfigure the key bindings according to the one post from a dev (which is incomprehensibe) and trying it myself, I gave up after 2h of research on the keybindings and 18min of game time.

Technically an overall good looking graphics with a map design that allows you to wander a bit off the road. The indepth mechanics were surprisingly advanced and there is a lot to adjust. So, basicly good potential. But Ive noticed I was struggling with 2 things that turned out frustrating. The first was a part of the map when switching to Poky for the first time were you had to jump over a couple of platforms. This game was... an ordeal. As you can see from my playtime, I didn't give it much time, because I had seen enough. Let's start with the very first thing you see: "Controller recommended" Here's the problem with that. Don't make a game available for PC and not optimize it to be played on all platforms its released on; ESPECIALLY PC. Whewn your controls are so bad you can't fit it onto PC, you have a problem. Good at the beginning, once you're drawn by the pretty-done graphics for Zelda orphans and the Dragonball-inspired Combat. However, when you realize the game gives you no reward for levelling up and one random unbalanced enemy can make you lose all your progress in one single fight (unless you are willing to keep looking for saving points every single time) it makes you wanna stop playing, and that's what I did. Combat needs more polishing, way more balancing, and logic. Don't get it unless…

This game does not deserve my time. For neither playing nor for editing my review. So here are some gripes instead. Camera can be as much of an event as any other enemy. I regularly cannot see myself when the fight begins because the camera decides it's too scary and hides in the bushes. Color of the arena only adds unnecessary complexity to an already complex combat system. It wants to do everything but can't do anything well enough. Combat is not only over complicated but also janky.…

I got this game as part as the Humble Bundle Monthly. This game looked interesting so I decided to give it a shot. As far as art goes, the game generally looks really good, the animation is smooth and nice looking, although when it flip-flops between 3D and 2D, I don't really care for that too much, it doesn't look like the two styles belong together. Good visual, great character design, beautiful cutscenes, interesting gameplay (it's basically a fighting game with some RPG aspects) The only (big) downside is the story; they've totally dropped a large part of it, the part that started it all. I was actually shocked when I saw the closing credits. I'd recommend this game anyway, if you're okay with spending 20-30 hours on a nice little game without expecting any decent closure to the storyline.

But the mechanics themselves with combos, area effects and parry meter are fun. Each character has various abilities that were also relevant outside of combat in puzzles and exploration. It's a nice RPG with beautiful graphics and a cute original setting. Reminds me of the older Final Fantasy games. The combat system is... nice but confusing and sometimes frustrating, especially when fighting bosses. The game has a few things that could and should be better, but it also has a detailed open world with a good story that will suck you into the action. It's also cheap (too cheap imo) so it's definitely worth what you pay for.

Boring combat. Dumb story. Ugly annoying main character. Crashes sometimes for no reason. And here's an idea, how about making the controls not suck, instead of just being lazy and having a message in the beginning about controllers? This is the PC version of the game, PCs have keyboard and mouse controls. If you're not willing to adapt, don't publish such a lazy port! And you have the nerve to charge $30 for this garbage? It's incredibly easy to get stun-locked and die when you shouldn't. I mad it about 15 hours in and just couldn't finish it. Most of the time you will feel as if you have litte to no control over your character druing combat. Game is unneccessary complicated. Cam is broken. Completely unbalanced. Some enemies are easy to neutralize....others again are way too hard. If an enemy strikes a serties of hits....you have no chance to break the combo. And: except from the start there is no effing voice acting what makes this an autist experience.

Do you like your game with a side dish of game breaking bugs? Then look no further, this is the one for you! Have you ever wondered what it feels like to play a few hours of a game only to find out that by chance, you've triggered a bug that literally makes it impossible to progress? By all means, spend your hard earned money on this one. As that's exactly what happened to me. During the quest "A balanced diet", theres this part where you have to fix the elevator. After fixing it, I suddenly…

enjoyable if janky exploration ultimately ruined by a horribly balanced and implemented battle system. combat has a number of elements that seem on paper like they should make for a fairly deep and strategic take on real-time combat, but in practice, the more advanced techniques either require button inputs that don't work reliably, or require keeping track of things around you that are all but impossible to keep track of due to the fast-paced and chaotic nature of the battles. for a while, you…

I kickstarted this a while back and left it on the docket. I finally got around to it and while there are some good points, the overall experience is a bit of a slog. I could only stomach an hour of the game, but millage may vary. I think the combat and movement feels clunky, the early environments seem kinda unmemorable, and there are just too many menus. Overall, it feels like they wanted to add many things, systems, and mechanics from games in the late 2000's era, but couldn't decide and it…

Clunky controls, no rebinding, and no checkpoints, idk the game seems alright, and i like the real-time combat aspect of it, however i can't really get over the control scheme, i normally use B for dodge, A for parry, and X + Y for attacks and a separate button for guarding like RB, so having B for Block + Dodge, Y for Parry, then A + X for Attacks really throws me off, simple thing could have been helped or fixed by rebinding, but cannot do that, controls are important and it makes it harder…

In 34 hours playtime, finally I finished the game. The game plot quite interesting but the ending is not really satisfying. For the cutscene, comic style delivery doesn't give enough "punch" or feeling to the story. It just "Ok". What makes this game interesting is the combat. I think the combat is quite similar to naruto game and it is quite hard and challenging. Overall I enjoyed playing this game and recommend it. Maybe the total score will be like 7.5/10

Clunky and hard to control. Fights are unpolished and varying in difficulty. It's also overpriced and received it's last update three weeks after release. It is abandoned for more than two years now.

This is one of those games that makes me wish steam had a conflicted option for recommending games. Graphics are fine Combat, is something you kind of need to understand for yourself to enjoy, it's also kinda rough around the edges. Story, I honestly can't give an explanation about what is going on. $30 for the game is too much, if you want to try it, get it on sale. The developers are no more so there won't be any fixes to the game in the future.

Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom is a furry/anime crossover 3D platformer/puzzle/brawler console game. Unsurprisingly the developers went bankrupt. Shiness is a furry neckbeards wet dream come true. Apart from this niche target audience who are probably all too busy on the website f-o-u-r chan or watching hentai (Valve censors a community name but not hentai? Really??), the game isn't really aimed at PC gamers and was ported across shoddily. Controls aren't the worst but still clunky, the…
