I've heard good things about this game, and in truth the potential is there. The environments are a spectacle to behold, the stealth that defines most enemy encounters generally works, and the writing for the plot seemed alright. Unfortunately this game suffers from a severe lack of polish. On the rare occasions combat is unavoidable the lack of polish in dodging mechanics and enemy movement makes combat a chore. …

Is this game a masterpiece? No, it's a bit too generic for that. Once again, humanity is coming to an end and only we can stop it. We only realise why or how as the game progresses, because at the beginning we have absolutely no idea about anything. We remember lying on a couch while our father fiddled with some equipment and told us that everything was going to be fine (never a good sign)... then it went dark …

Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!! I don't think I've ever played a game that made me as angry as Steel Seed. The thing is: this is exactly the kind of game that I like to play most. Third-person sci-fi action with sword fighting, platforming, secret hunting, and unlocking abilities—it even looks good. But man, despite the often great visuals, competent level design, and okay combat, there's so much that makes this unfun. I really had to force myself to finish it. I tried hard to enjoy it and gave it…

100 minutes in the game. Refunding it now. Technically game seems solid, did not have any stutters or crashes. In general, you could say that game is... competent enough. Shortest way to describe it would be: it is a modern game, inspired by modern "something for everyone" apporach. Story is sterile and in 1.5 hour could not get me interested at all. Characters... well, again, sterile set of: "strong female protagonist" that shows all the signs of Mary Sue; R2D2-talking-style cute robot;…

This game is really not worth the price even on sale. It is very underwhelming and lacks any real substance or polish. The trailer makes it look much better than it was to actually play. Maybe watch someone stream the game to see if you like it first, but personally I would really just recommend that no one bother with this one.

I hate this game so much. I'm so mad right now, I can't even explain why. I paid half price for this, and I still feel completely ripped off. And I love stealth/platforming games usually. But after 2 hours of playtime, I ran into my first of many many bugs. So right off the bat, I couldn't refund the thing. And it wasn't like a minor bug either. The damn double jump function works about 1/4 of the time you try to use it after the second zone. So I said F-it. I can't refund it. I guess I'll…

You've played this game before. It might not have been called Steel Seed, but it could have been Uncharted, Jedi: Survivor, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed, or any of the countless other titles that wear the Action-Adventure label. The specific mix of setting, gameplay, mechanics, and story might be unique, but if you've played third-person action-adventures, you've essentially played Steel Seed. It doesn't bring anything new to the table, and that lack of originality ends up hurting it more than…

There's a good reason only 40% make it through the tutorial and 7% finish the game. This game does not know what is really wants to do. You have a ton of stealth options - but the game forces you into combat various times. So then combat better be good, right? Wrong. You have a single very clunky dodge for defense, and a few melee combos with a metric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of recovery time for offense. There have to be other options, right? Yes, you have a ton of tools that could probably pass as the…

This is definitely a good sci-fi game, which seems to be made with love and care. Dense cyberpunk atmosphere is clearly felt while exploring the world, and it's all good, but... Yeah, unfortunately there's a "but", hiding in gameplay roughnesses and several minor details, which make the whole impression contradictory: 1. The game strongly pushes you to choose stealth walkthrough, 'cause you'll die from a couple of punches in an open fight 'til the very last mission (it's ok, if you're…

I really tried to like this game but it just falls short of everything it attempts to do. It's a stealth - exploration - parkour game with awful combat that you're basically forced into because the stealth mechanics are "stand in this field and they won't notice you". They do. Then you're forced into combat and the combat system is straight up bad. You have some attacks you can combo into, but the cooldown for each swing makes combat feel clunky and slow and your attacks don't seem to do…

Steel Seed wants to be special, and it accomplishes this, but not in the way it wants to. Sometime in the future you awake as a robot with janky animations and a plethora of glowing bits, most notably your hair... and this is a stealth game?! If your character is any indication, robots can't see squat in the future. You wander through dark corridors, because, clearly, your glowing Mk II eyeballs can't magnify light or otherwise see in the dark in a surprisingly sedate platformer with equally…

A sad no. Stealth doesn't work, combat is not good, visually is very noisy - which made the devs opt for intrusive guidance methods, story is whatever, writting is really bad, protagonist is super generic. But what hurt the most is an indie/AA using the most generic AAA tropes. Why? Why are we walking trough tight places? Why the protagonist doesn't shut up? Why the mechanics are so boring? Why is trying so hard to be serious and have a message? Why is so bland visually? Why there's upgrades…

There was so much that didn't make any sense at all after "introducing" the character with an overly used intro trope. See below. You are Zoe. You are on an operating table with an IV in your arm. TBH, for the price, I was hoping for something decent but overall, very disappointing. The storyline is terrible and no linkages / continuation as to what's happening e.g. confusing and not fluid. In terms of combat, well, again, for the price, i was expecting something decent. The game mechanics (e.g., jumping, interacting with objects, etc.) seem to have minimal effort put into them. The character often looks like they "fly" onto platforms or ledges. But during the second chapter of the game (by this point more than 3 hours of playtime) I began to experience some popping and texture stretching. Overall, the game is okay.
