Many note the game is buggy and rough around the edges. [1][2][3]

As someone who enjoyed Spore and E.V.O., I really wanted to love this game. There are lots of good ideas here. You can make some ridiculous creatures, and building something to fit a situation is fun. But there's just one problem: the game is borderline unplayable. This game has Goat Simulator levels of jank. It is very hard to control your character under the best of circumstances. Good luck if you are trying to …

Simply the best spiritual successor to the Spore Creature Stage money can buy. It is an absolute blast to explore, discover, and fight with the various tools and abilities you get from incorporating parts from your adversaries. The music is a delight and is extremely reminiscent of the Spyro series. This game has a little bit for everyone. There are a good number of unique and engaging biomes to explore, some light …

Hello friends, Today I will review the game Strange Seed. This is a indie game with the same mechanics the game spore had years ago. The graphics are not really anything special, but the game is fun enough to play in. The game needs work though. I personally found issues with clipping parts of the body, terrain that is uneven, and some other small things. As long as the developer keeps working on it and refining it, …

With over fourty hours invested so far, Strange Seed has exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. While its still a new release and naturally has a couple rough edges, the Developers have been exceptionally responsive - constantly engaging with the community and addressing feedback quickly. The gameplay loop is incredibly engaging. Experimenting with different creature parts and mechanics is both intuitive and …

Is it buggy and unpolished? Honestly, yes. But did I still have an absolute blast for 10h? Also definitely yes. This filled the CHKN-shaped hole in my heart quite nicely. And while abundant, the bugs were never game breaking and always fixed by giving the game a quick restart. Mostly, it was just stuff like UI text not appearing, UI elements staying on screen when they shouldn't, or the camera getting stuck in some …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels a lot like Spore Hero. You walk around, find parts that allow you to access new areas, and make a silly little guy. I hope this gets some QoL updates in the future though. Camera, controls, etc. can be a little annoying to play around.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ok 6/10 worth a playthrough Small game(100% Achieve in 13 hours) Branded by many as "Spore x" very bad comparison. Does not closely match what I know of spore, more like a classic adventure game where w/souls like bonfire mechanics and animal body parts as. The good: -Fun adventure gameplay -Very good Equipment(body part) mechanic -Good customization you are able to change the texture of any body part to the texture of any animal and change the colour as well. it make for some really cute…

neutral · AI labelView post →It's a cute idea but it's far too jank to recommend in its current state. Movement feels clunky, combat feels awkward, climbing gets buggy, ranged weapons feel bad to use due to the lock-on combined with slow attacks resulting in the enemy moving before the projectile hits, and so on and so forth. The creature parts are interesting and I like the evolution, but I just don't enjoy the parts in between evolving my creature.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its honestly just a kid friendly version of a souls game, charming but a bit short. I did make multiple abominations and proved why man should never have the tools of creation, ended the game with a lore accurate Metal Greymon. Maybe we will get a Strange Seed 2 to really flush the game out, maybe add alien species, or just explore more of our earth. Just as it ramps up to show you what it could be it ends. Replayability really depends on how much you want to challenge yourself the end is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wish I could recommend this game. It's really fun. But there are soooo many bugs, starting from falling through the world over food not healing anymore after respawn all up to hard crashes. (Yes, all that and more happened in the short span I played) When it works, it's great. I just wish it would work more often.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 As an old Spore fan, Strange Seed immediately caught my attention. Gameplay: The creature-building and evolution mechanics are genuinely fun. Progression is fast, and the learning curve is easy enough that both adults and kids can jump right in. Within minutes you're creating bizarre creatures, experimenting with mutations, and discovering what works—and what hilariously doesn't. It's a cozy little game with a lot of charm and a surprising amount of potential. Flaws: Unfortunately, the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →came here nostalgic for spore wanting a nonsensical creature creator. not quite what i was expecting in that regard -- way less sandboxy and way more adventure and story focused, in the best way. had much more fun than i thought i would and found myself intrigued by the world my critter found himself in. also some parts of this game are hard which was a wonderful surprise for me :) well worth the price and i think if youre considering this game to give it a try as its super duper charming and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly? I might be biased as I loved Spore's stage 1 and 2 evolution scenarios, but all in all? It was more interesting than I expected. I expected it to have quite a bit of flaws and weird quirks based on its trailer and the middling price point, on top of the fact it seems to be the devs second commercial game. It was quirky alright, but pleasantly so. It's definitely not a thing for the "NeEdS 8k UHD or ELSE. 0/10" fanbois, but as someone who grew up with NES the style in general feels…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. Rough around the edges but they seem to be patching to fix it as the issues appear. Core gameplay loop and mechanics are not complicated or intensive. I think the price is right. Recommendations to the devs, beyond fixing bugs: * Remove the failure rate from combining. Just make it possible/not possible and scale liquid consumption based on current failure rate thresholds. In its current condition, it's a pointless and potentially infinite grind mechanic in what's otherwise a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love the concept but I think it was badly done, I am going to refund but it does look really fun I don't know what it is it also runs bad for me though it could be a personal issue
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shortish game, 100%/got all achievements in 9 hours, was overall a fun experience! But there are some issues of jankiness, lack of polish, the final boss and ending being awful, the story giving up halfway through, the world building and lore not being well developed, and worst of all, performance. Despite being a game with a relatively simple art style, this game runs awfully, and each area got me different framerates, even while playing on lowest settings and lowered resolution. Overall I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm gonna call this an "unpolished gem". It's got a great foundation and a fun concept, but it's filled with jank and jitter and needs a few polishing sweeps.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really fun, but honestly, if I could give a middling review I would. It's fun but there are a lot of problems. It is really prone to bugs and bad hitboxes, the keyboard and mouse controls feel really bad. This game has a great idea with really fun concepts, I love the creature building and the concepts put forward, but the game still needs a good bit of work. I am excited for the next big update but I do hope some of the bugs are smoothed out and the controls are improved.…

Come join us! 🧬 www.twitch.tv/lilappleseed
neutral · AI labelView post →Do you like Spore? Or maybe some other game about evolution? Well, you'll LOVE this game. Strange Seed is a silly little game about conquering your enemies, and using their parts to evolve and make anything your heart desires. This game combines silliness, strategy, and puzzles all into one absorbing experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this game to everyone I know, and don't. Strange Seed will truly have a special place in my life forever, and go down in my hall of gaming.

neutral · AI labelView post →This game has tons of content, creativity, and re-playability. --The Dev Fixed all the issues I had with the game, and is continuing to make improvements.-- Buy this game, and then complain endlessly until they fix the performance issues.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really fun. From little blobby boy to abhorrent abomination in about 20 minutes. I will keep playing this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game somehow felt nostalgic for gamecube era games. I felt like a kid playing spore again, except they ran with the best part of Spore (creature stage) and made it better. My high point was switching between two builds, a monkey/seagull that threw poo from above and a turtle/pig with deer legs that had an AOE fart attack. A+ devs. Ty for the joy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is ok. Nice premise. The graphics are fine (for the most part). The combat leaves a little to be desired, but it works ok. The issue I have with the game is that it feels unfinished in too many aspects. I would normally excuse that if the game was sold as early access, but it is not. They sell it as full release. The specific issues I have: - while the controller wroks fine most of the time, some menus do not work well with it for some reason (particularly the besitary -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably one of the most underrated games on steam. It’s certainly one that I recommend to absolutely anyone who has ever played and enjoyed the spore creature stage, cubivore, amazing island, or any kind of creature-crafting games. I also recommend it to people who haven’t. I won’t fill this already lengthy review with a rant about Spore, but the main issue that makes the creature stage ‘cool’ instead of ‘a fun game’ is the extreme mediocre procedural generation. Every world is flat…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this - but this is way too buggy to be considered a full release. A lot of the arms don't work properly for example. With one quest you get a face and a beard to go with it - except the face sticks on backwards. It's a buggy mess right now and it's frustratingly so.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a gem of a little game!! It took me around 8 hours to get all of the achievements (currently) in the game. The devs are actively balancing and updating, I will absolutely be returning to this game when more content gets added!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a lot more fun than I anticipated. There was a review that called it a spiritual successor to EVO: The Search for Eden which was a really cool and interesting game on I want to say the SNES. That sealed it for me so I chose to pick it up. They were pretty much spot on with the assessment. That being said, this isn't Spore, it's more of an action adventure/puzzle game where your combat, puzzle solving, traversal, ability to climb walls, etc is based on the parts you choose to use.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Needs work. I'd be fine with it if it were early access, but they're selling this as a finished product. It's very linear. I was hoping for something like Spore. It ain't that. Controls are weird. Very floaty, which is bad when there's platforming. There's a LOT of platforming. Refunded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy as hell. Invisible walls everywhere.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →as of right now, looks like all u can do is run around, kill and eat stuff, evolve and do parkour. Not that fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, the good, the bad, and the unpolished. The Good: I love this game. It feels like if Spore were less ambitious, in a good way. I like the metroidvania-lite aspect of this game, where pieces may be required for exploration, but it isn't hardcoded for which pieces you need. The game is pretty open-ended, letting you progress with your exploration. The size scaling mechanic is pretty great. Later in, there's a device that lets you fuse stats of body parts to heighten the potency, so if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Character customization is fun and offers a lot of variety. The demo ended at Honey Cliffs for me, so I picked up the full game and loaded my demo character. Unfortunately, Honey Cliffs ran pretty poorly, even on low settings. If you’re sensitive to flashing or screen effects, I’d recommend being cautious — it can get rough at times. During the early stages, if you have any limbs that allow climbing, be careful. I’ve fallen through the map several times already. When falling through the map,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →honestly i'm only a few hours in and just kind of messing around while inebriated but i can safely rec this so far! i'm having a lot of fun and it scratches that spore itch what i like thus far: - making abominations against god and science - combat and part-mixing mechanics actually make me think in terms of "okay what would be most efficient for this biome" - SPEED 8 GO GO GO GO dislike: - controls are a little bit wonky sometimes - some areas are a little too dark/muddled and it…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of a jank game, but the progression and exploration is pretty good and just making wacky creatures is super fun. Very much worth it despite the bugs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Strange Seed is a super fun build-a-creature action-adventure game along the line of E.V.O. or Cubivore. I absolutely loved E.V.O. and Cubivore growing up, and Strange Seed is one of the only other games I've played that's really captured the unique brand of joy those games offer. In fact, I enjoyed the game enough that I put in 10 hours into it in a single weekend, completing the main content and most of the side content, despite running into many technical and gameplay issues. There were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This brings back so many childhood memories of playing spore gameplay is really good so far the only complete I could have would be the performance, but I’m sure that’ll be worked out in no time. I’ve really loved this game so far!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Charming game, my 3 year old daughter loved watching me play. Runs well on my laptop on medium settings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its 'alright', and only if you like to grind. I stopped my playthrough and I can't really find the motivation to continue. you'll constantly have to be grinding groups of enemys for parts and biomass. you'll have to run through the areas to grind crates to get gems and buy mysterious goo so you can combine part stats, since the game doesn't give you nearly enough and I don't even remember finding any in later areas. after the first 4 or so areas it becomes a slog. every quest is 'kill this' or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recently played this wacky, fun indie game called Strange Seed. This game is an Action RPG where you play as a blob that can evolve and grow body parts of other animals after fighting them. You can mix & match to become whatever abomination you want. Here are some of my endgame combos! #indiegame
positive · AI labelView post →Little Gem of a game, it's spore-like, EVO like, but it has it's own identity. You start off as a worthless blob with absolutely no mission , you have to think about confronting every creature you come across because you are just a worthless blob and even an Ant is a formidable foe. With good timing in almost turn based fashion you can take out the first few enemies, you slowly add parts to become less worthless, but you have to carefully choose what you evolve into because you have limited…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun. It feels like an old N64 platformer meets Spore.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Strange Seed is a neat little game that largely delivers on its premise of building your own mutant from parts you find and eat. It's very clearly a small dev team game with its basic environments, clunky combat, and ever-present jank, but it works well enough for what it is and doesn't overstay its welcome, so I can certainly recommend it on sale, though perhaps not for $15 if the premise alone isn't enough to sell you on the game. That being said, let's get into criticisms. If none of what's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a neat game, but couldnt really recommend it. Feels lower quality than even some roblox games. in concept its cool, but really you should just play spore, and if you've already played spore. you would probably get more enjoyment by just playing spore again.

neutral · AI labelView post →The industry practice of releasing a game before its finished needs to stop, this game is good but you can tell it is quite rough around the edges. This game has some good concepts like unlocking new body parts which is fun, however the game suffers from poor optimization and an overall bad combat system. I would say personally to hold off on buying this game until it is complete.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a fun game, my only gripe is that end game monsters are extremely annoying with their high speed attacks and huge AOE. I rate this 8/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun little game. I'd describe it as a creature builder adventure RPG that feels like it would be right at home on a classic N64 console. I'm having such an enjoyable time mixing and matching creature parts to make a charming little guy who mercilessly eats everything in it's path. There's quests, stats, exploration, hidden collectables, and a combat system - that while a bit clunky, is serviceable enough that it doesn't stand in the way of fun. The game has a few systems in place…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Appleseed's Indie Game of The Day Day 104) Strange Seed by Chronicle Games Ltd A creature evolving Soulslite game inspired by Spore that has you traveling and fighting creatures to unlock their body parts, and create mutated species with unique abilities It's very fun, & I can't wait to play more
positive · AI labelView post →i'm about an hour into the game, and i really love it. i've only ever noticed one bug? which is where sometimes the overworld music overlaps and plays twice rather than playing the battle music. but aside from that, it's a very cute and quirky game with fun dialogue and a fun battling system. definitely everything i wanted, and more!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was NOT expecting a spore-ish souls-like when I bought this tbh but it's incredibly charming and delightful. It's pretty janky but really enjoyable, highly recommend. Love messing with the part options and the 3D print part combiner was a truly inspired idea. Great way to keep the parts you like for the aesthetic without losing out on stats. If you enjoyed spore creature stage, you'll love this too. The game isn't particularly difficult despite the souls-like tag I'm giving it though. I beat…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Considering the older title with the same premice(and it's quality(not that good)) this game is a very significant step for the developers and the result is a very VERY well executed release, I cannot wait for the ocean expansion
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is strangely awesome! It's like the best section of that old Spore game for the Wii where you were evolving on land, but with Story! Weird story, and there are some things that seem like they should be special but don't do anything like the lava brain and the blue crystal island, but the point is that you can really feel the progression in the game. It's challenging, but not unfair, as you simply haven't explored enough or found the right body part or attack for the right situation.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know how to explain it but this is armored core
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Endearingly jank in almost every aspect, but the concept is fun enough to get a good ~6 hours out of it. Great if you were a fan of Spore but lost interest after the creature stage.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Strange Seed is an absolute blast as a 3D version of EVO or something similar to the creature stage of Spore if it actually had gameplay. You run around and eat creatures to be able to evolve into using their body parts and create oddball combinations that specialize in different abilities or just horrify anyone watching. There are a lot of hidden puzzles and collectibles to find. It's messy as anything, but it's creative and interesting throughout. I'm thrilled that someone went and made…
