You know those climbing segments in old school games where the character slowly scales a wall? Maybe it's a vine wall like in Ocarina of Time. Submerged is a relaxing open world game where you drive around in a boat exploring a flooded, over grown city. You dock and climb up buildings gathering collectibles around the world. The game is peaceful with no way to die. A good game to play when you just want to relax and unwind after a busy day.

Submerged is a short - 4ish hour - game, with a beautiful sound track, and nearly wordless story. Your character seems to be (as there isn't any time limit within the game) racing against the clock, to save her younger brother who is badly injured. Miku, has to scale buildings, searching for supplies to aid her in caring for her brother, with secrets along the way that hint toward what has happened, to the world …

i actually played the second game first and really enjoyed it too no combat, no urgency, just pure exploration. sailing through the flooded city and climbing overgrown ruins and finding secrets feels peaceful but kinda eerie too. the story doesn't throw itself at you it just lets the world do the talking. building puzzles and collectibles make it even better, giving you that little extra reason to explore without feeling like a chore. visually it's pretty everything looks alive in its own quiet…

Has potential, but ultimately does not deliver: The movement feels floaty and the exploration does not really offer a lot (all buildings feel kinda same-y and the only thing you can collect are little images as "story" bits). Would have expected more from it, to be honest. The naturalist achievement is also really annoying to get as the humanoid creatures are really hard to spot (because it's buggy, not because they are hidden very good).

It is a very relaxing exploration game with no combat or worries that you will fall to your death that I very much enjoyed. I love old decayed buildings so it made it even better. and the little bit of music there is its lovely. There is a few things that I wish the game would have: - a sprint button, - more stuff to collect and explore (you can’t explore all the buildings), - the ability to go inside of buildings, - being able to set a checkpoint on the map so you could orient yourself a tiny…

I think it's a good game but you really have to know what you're getting into. It's literally all exploration, meaning boating around and climbing ledges. Movement speed is decent, but there's a lot of ground to cover. Movement in early game is slow because the boat doesn't go far yet. There's no puzzles, except maybe figuring out how to reach a secret. What you do in the first 30 minutes is basically what you do for the entire game. I enjoyed it, especially after finding out the lore.

if you are going to spend your money, buy the follow up game Submerged: Hidden Depths. That one is great, this is just too much of the same scenery and climbs making this more of a memory game (Have I been here before? No, that was an entirely different building that somehow looks exactly the same...). I bought this with a discount and even that hasn't been worth the little money and time spent.

Submerged is a third-person non-combat exploration game. You take on the role of a young girl searching a desolated and flooded city for supplies to treat her wounded brother. Story's a bit lackluster, ending was meh. You have a small fishing boat you use to navigate the flooded waters to ruined buildings for you to climb. There's no platforming through, everything is completely on rails; there's fixed paths you take and you just press the direction keys for your character to climb, descend,…

For $2, it was worth the 1.6 hours while I watched critical role on the other monitor. I would never recommend paying more than that for it. One of those games i wish had a neutral or scaled review. My reflected playtime (1.6 hours) is how long it took to beat the "campaign". Would likely double or triple if i went for all collectibles. I'd describe it as a "unwind" game, with relaxing music and no actual thinking involved. Search for an obvious location with an objective flag on it, scale…

Cannot recommend. Especially at that price. Buy on sale, if this type of game really floats your boat. The world design and music are lovely, but that's it. The gameplay is boring and sometimes tedious. If it wasn't for the collectibles which do pretty much nothing (they unlock some lore and give your boat a speed boost), you would finish this game in less than an hour.

A break from uncertainty and stress, a great palate cleanser. Submerged plays differently than your typical game. It removes every variable of exploration and lets you enjoy the simplistic gameplay and the extremely interesting environment around you. I feel bad for this game because it has potential but doesn't deliver the experience I expect from a game of it's kind. The graphics are good, the environment and atmosphere are well done. However, with the emphasis on exploration, it quickly feels repetitive with you pretty much climbing in the same environment throughout the whole thing and was never really a sense of progression gameplay-wise. I was really bored most of the time, but hey, if you like climbing, and climbing super slow, then maybe this is a game for you. I usually love exploration games, this game just didn't hit it for me. From the intro video it seems so promising and looks fun, however it was painful to play in so many ways. You spend half of the time driving around in boat which sounds fun and is at first but then it gets very repetitive and boring. Submerged is one of those games where it feels like it’s made for players like me. Players who enjoy exploration, collecting things and more. I was very excited to play it initially but my excitement got tempered over time. The game feels like a mix of Zelda The Wind Waker (in terms of travelling with a boat) and Uncharted (in terms of climbing) but it simplifies those elements into one game. The story telling is the Journey kind where you’re not told what’s going on but you’re supposed to…

You don't have to complete the first game to get into the story, but I wanted to know how it started. So here we are. The mood and setting work, but the graphics are glitchy and ugly in spots - especially the water, which looks like it's the year 2005 again, which is ironic, as the whole setting is a water-world, and I'd imagine you'd get at least that right... The worst part: this plays like a short film someone forced into game format. "The game"…

The issue is that even though everything functions perfectly well, there's no substance to anything. -The core mechanic is "platforming," but it's on rails with the most difficult…

Feels super cheap. Looks like a PS2 game and plays awkwardly. I encountered bugs where my boat wouldn't move unless I barely feathered the controls. Jumping and climbing all felt archaic. == tried again on the steam deck == The deck didn't save this one. Again it just feels very cheap and outdated.

6/10 Cool indie game for a laidback chilling experience. The story is interesting and cleverly brought, and I hope that the sequel maintains this strong and promising basis. The graphics are okay, but the overall visuals and experience of evolving in a post-apo world is terrific. 'Submerged' is made for players who enjoy adventure and wandering searches. Even if it is short, the games is quite repetitive : you climb up a monument, get some stuff, then go back home just to realize that you need…
