Honestly I know I’m probably gonna be one of the minority outliers here but it’s not that I didn’t like the game. It was kind of fun and kind of interesting. But I can’t in good conscience give it a thumbs up after playing it and seeing its price tag. Cuz it’s simply not worth it. I’ve seen far better, grander projects for half the price. And when you look into the history of locked content and paid DLC situations …

I was really waiting for the release, but it's so barebones... Multiplayer is max 2v2 with 2 maps available xD The price tag is absurd, product wise it fits in the 15-20$ margin.

I've been playing these games since Sudden Strike 1 in the year 2000. What made then enjoyable was the fact the missions were slow. You'd have to be careful with your vehicles and troops and use them in the right way. Missions could take hours. Sudden Strike 1 and 2 followed this formula and were very enjoyable immersive games. Sadly however, Sudden Strike 3 and 4 were less about tactical gameplay as you could often …

Sudden Strike 5 marks a confident return for one of the most recognizable real-time tactics franchises in World War II gaming. The game doubles down on large-scale battlefield tactics, brutal mission design, and historical authenticity rather than chasing modern action-oriented RTS trends. The result is a strategy game that can feel deeply rewarding one moment and maddeningly unforgiving the next. Veterans of …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very promising but not finished and wouldn't recommend it in current state. It still needs a lot of polishing especially in controls and AI. I'm sick and tired of games being rushed out for a quick buck at the expense of the players
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played 1,2,3,4. This is the first Sudden Strike I don't like. Seems like a lazy and uninspired cash grab to be frank. Looks way worse than 4, just launch first mission of the russian campaign and you'll see what I mean. You can't see jack. It's also very micro management heavy but doesn't have a good UI like the previous installments. Disappointment.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun and has potentail but its not worthe the prise tag at the moment and it has bare bones amount of things to do not bad but needs to bake a bit longer. dont get me wrong i loved ss4 for what it was but for the prise there are just better games like steel div and GOH that have more content for the same price and are well developed so i will return when it is more baked and hopfully the devs do a good job and support the game instead of dropping some DLC and then Going MIA. so for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall Impression: As a veteran who has spent thousands of hours in Sudden Strike 2, I can confidently say that Sudden Strike 5 is a significant leap over the fourth installment. The developers are clearly heading in the right direction. The improved graphics are stunning, and the early German campaigns successfully recaptured the joy I felt playing the classic SS2 campaigns. The Good: Visuals: Excellent graphical fidelity. Mission Length: The first three German missions took several hours…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When it was first released, it was so buggy that it’s near unplayable. It causes my keyboard to crash, the camera does what it wants. Even little things like infantry entering trenches, I've found that sometimes they cannot enter and sometimes when they can enter the units disappear. There is little attention to detail in this game. They’ve reused assets from SS4 for example voice acting, so nothing feels new and I’m only part way through one of the campaigns. There is also an example of poor…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For now I think suddenstrike 4 is better i like the camera angle better and I like the amount of maps, but if this game gets updated and shown love to it could be an even better game than its predecessor. Just dont abandon the game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally a developer made a german and one international version with historical flags. However the game is certainly not worth the price. Gameplay is essentially C&C from 1990s. I like two things and thats the aircrafts and the trains. The rest of Sudden Strike 5 is just dissapointing. Insane pricetag and you get kalypso bloatware. Tried a refund when I had just exeeded 2h, got declined. Now im at 6h weeks later and going too uninstall. Feel ripped off honestly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here's the problem with this game: It's been done before. Five times. It's dated. The UI isn't great, the sound mostly just sounds like static coming through your headphones, the unit pathing is the same awful 'must micromanage everything' type that the previous iteration had...the game is just stale. If this game released a decade ago, sure, it'd be good, I'd recommend a buy. But it didn't release in 2016. It released in 2026. The graphics are nice. The 'core' gameplay is..there, sort of.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A word of caution on the review scores for this one — a large chunk of ratings come from people with minimal hours logged, which skews the picture considerably. Take those with a grain of salt. Is it a flawless 10/10? No. But as an old-school WW2 strategy game, it delivers. Bigger maps than SS4, more units, more strategic depth, and missions that actually take time to work through — on harder difficulty at least, expect a few hours per mission. Where it falls short is in the extras. More…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Realism.exe cannot be found. Seriously why does my Tiger with its 88mm take three rounds to kill a soviet supply truck? Why does Infantry seem to only be tickled by machine gun fire? You know, machine guns, the thing specifically developed to defeat Infantry charges? Rocket launchers that can barely shoot beyond line of sight. In fact why does every artillery piece have such a laughable range? Two bombs from a Stuka right onto a KV-1 does "checks notes" a quarter health of damage?! I watched a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a step back from Sudden strike 4. This one has less control of the gameplay, worse graphics (even with everything maxed out) and has bugs. I quite regret buying it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a wildly unfair bad rating due to gamers not appreciating the style this game is going for. I play a LOT of RTS, Wargames, etc, over 2k hrs in ostfront, plenty of hours in hardcore milsims like combat mission, and this game is NOT those. It has a lot of things that may be off-putting, especially crashes (I assume they are my end) but visually this game is amazing, and has a huge variety of troops, and vehicles to play with. I have seen people talk about how you can just "clump…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not get Deluxe Edition I purchased Deluxe Edition, and the promised Camo Skins could not be found. If they were included in the DLC I could not find them anywhere, and there was no information about them. After playing for a while, I noticed that the units are so small that new camo skins would not have made a difference anyway. When you can barely see the unit, the camo is irrelevant. As to the game overall? the game play was the same as SS4, which is not a bad thing, but the entire…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →for a game that tells you, you can pick what directions you want. but what they are actually saying is you can but.......if you dont do it the way we want you too you will fail. moving infantry is just a glob, you have to pause scum to effectively move troops. when troops are in buildings you have to move them all out and then pick the ones you want to move back in, all while under fire. game locks you in trying to find prestige points but gives AI free points. game at first felt like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, Ok.. so basically this could have been released as DLC for Sudden Strike 4. I don't see much here that is new or improved upon and frankly I am getting tired of the same old WWII scenarios and the same old factions. .. I wonder if anybody at Kite Games realizes that China was also part of WWII? Maybe it is time to move on to the Korean War or the 70s middle-east wars. Maybe something fresh here for people new to the genre but for those of us that played the previous games, the price does…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There’s nothing more enjoyable than playing a high quality WW2 strategy game. I use to play strategy board games back in the 70’s with friends which took days to complete. SS5 comes close to that pace of gameplay, where you have to slow down and plan your attacks on regions, not knowing what resistance will be met. SS5 is a well paced game where strategy is king. I am thoroughly enjoying the latest version since being hooked since the original version in 2000. The only area which I would like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game but...Not Recommended in its current state. Sudden Strike offers solid old school WWII tactics with tense, large scale battles and authentic combined arms gameplay, but it's held back by frustrating limitations that stop it from shining. The unit cap feels restrictive and punishing, the campaigns are too short with limited missions, and the point-capture formula gets repetitive fast. While it has heart and does some things well, the game needs more innovation, better unit…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not recommended for the price tag, Copy of previous game with almost no new features, combat is somehow less smooth than in SS4. The maps are way too huge and lack depth as its basically "enemies everywhere" scenario almost every mission.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i have always loved sudden strike so when i heard about ss5 i was overjoyed, but the game feels unfinished. the soviet campaign is 4 missions long, it doesn't have the same grit and feel to ss4, and the skirmish gamemode has two maps. i know the game is somewhat new, and the devs were prob rushed by evil greedy higher ups, but this game is 50 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bucks. if im going to pay 50 bucks i want 50 bucks of content, not 30 dollars of dlcs that cough up what should have been in the base game. also…

neutral · AI labelView post →I was 9 years old sitting next to my uncle watching him play Sudden Strike 1. After he finished the game, he borrowed me the game. Since then I am hooked and played Sudden Strike 1 till Sudden Strike 4. In my eyes Sudden Strike 5 is such an improvement. They modernised the gameplay, wtihout losing the oldskool RTS mechanics that Sudden Strike has. The improvements are: - More objectives on the map - Able to get a few recources to get new troops (You decide how your army compensition will be)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They fixed most of the launch bugs, whatever anyone else i saying aint true no more. But difficult to get started on, steep learning and a high skill sealing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not great. It really doesn't seem to offer anything new over 4 other than the campaigns. It feels like an early access title with janky animations and path finding. Soldiers often get wounded standing up and sometimes running on the spot. It just doesn't feel finished. Only 2 multiplayer maps is bizarre.

neutral · AI labelView post →A very disappointing experience. The game is full of technical and artistic problems. Technical Issues: Some achievements don't unlock even after meeting all the visible requirements. Some units "sink" into the ground/terrain for no clear reason (graphical/physics bug). Infantry AI behavior is often terrible: units move without orders, especially near fortifications or buildings, essentially committing suicide for no benefit. Sometimes they stop firing entirely without me giving any such…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite possibly the best Steam Deck strategy game of all time. Works perfectly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, and reminds me of the Sudden Strikes of old. I've enjoyed it plenty, don't know if others will, but I found it fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is not worth it for the price it has bugs and isnt fun compared to BZ2 or other games of its type
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just got done with the first map for the axis. It is a good game did not find any bugs and it is kind of dynamic because you get secondary objectives in the mission wich are not in the briefing. Also for one battle there could be more maps and some battles NOT maps can be played on both sides.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not very enjoyable. even on easy this game is ridiculous, enemies spawning out of thin air constantly ruining any chances at making a big play. no control over most of the interface and the AI is bugged af. Kalypso has some major work to do. I love RTS games and this was a fat disappointment.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lacks the heart of the predecessors...and crashes frequently, which requires a complete restart otherwise it crashes all the time...wait for sale if you are into SS. Dont buy it at this price. Update: Although writing multiple emails to the devs noone seems to care for an old SS vet. My disappointment in this game grows day by day.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very small missions in game..NO heavy units..NO big tactical missions battle with bIg heavy units armor..I have play and seen only 1 heavy tiger in all axis play..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not for me. i found it buggy, boring and sort of unfinished. Ive loved all Sudden Strike games, so this was disappointing...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kept freezing up and cant get my money back now. They counted the froze game time as game played time lol. Do not buy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of buggy, units get stuck on random things, will drive straight into a river, and drown if you aren't paying attention. I wouldn't buy at full price, wait for the summer sale when its 15 bucks, and grab it then. Overall the game is OK, it would be good if it was more polished.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here a Sudden Strike Forever fan. Being hugely dissapointed by SS3. Somewhat enjoyed SS4, when I accepted it was more Panzers than Sudden Strike. I was excited but not too much about this SS5. I must say I'm enjoying it more than I expected. PROS: - I love the scale. It's not like SSF and SS2 but maps are finally sufficiently big. You can zoom out enough and have a decent view of the map. - number of units available is higher than SS4. It's not near what we got in SSF and SS2 but again it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Huge fan of the series, and i am know how the creative world can be so i dont want to be too harsh on the makers - Sudden Strike 4 is way more fun to play, you can take your time and enjoy each map, this game is pretty but a mess, with the same "strategy" of attrition in every map. Sudden Strike 4 the real 5 and 5 is the real 4. To the creators - dont give up, figure it out. we love your effort.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't usually leave reviews but given that I almost did not purchase it due to the 'mixed' reaction, I think it's important to add my experience so far. I have only played 4.5 hours so far but am really enjoying the game. For me, it is more of a return to SS2, which was my favourite of the series. I don't play multiplayer, so cannot comment on that or its' current limitations, but the campaign is a lot of fun. Big maps, lots of units. Plenty of missions. I appreciate people saying £40…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's Sudden Strike 4 but with worse UI and even more buggy AI. Would still be enjoyable but not for the asking price unfortunately. If you enjoyed 4 then pick this up after some updates and a 50% sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Literally just a reskin of Sudden Strike 4 with bare-bones new content at an extortion price. - Recycles almost everything — same voicelines, same units, same vehicles (slightly more detailed), with no explanation of what they are or how to utilize them - The dynamic skill tree between generals is one of the rare promising new addition, yet all skills are also recycled from Sudden Strike 4 - They cared enough to add an option to censor historical figures and symbols, but not enough to fix the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The unit cap kinda ruins things
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bigger and better than the old games, modern controls with WASD instead of arrow keys, more units, able to zoom out more and it runs buttery smooth despite looking much better. Best sudden strike so far!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very bland, multiplayer does not have many maps same with skirmish, ui is kinda weird, Doesn't not feel like the past titles nor does it feel very new or innovating
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First time playing a Sudden Strike and so far my experience is great. Battles are large, very large; each faction has a ton of units overall it feels very immersive. While the scale is larger you can zoom in and micromanage.Devs also went the COH way with generals which give you various bonuses to better fit your playstyle... definitely a great game; can t wait for more content !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so I'd like to preface by saying that the previous game SS4 game out in 2017, that's a whole nine years ago and the launch of this feels very much the same as 4 bare bones only 2 maps for skrim (3 if you count the one has a night map) and multi and i have a gut feeling they are going to tack on a ton of dlc "mission packs" like they did with 4 is it fun sure, but for the asking price really not worth it. TLDR: they took 9 years and the only thing i feel like really got added is the ability to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This *Sudden* is better than *Sudden 3*, better than nothing, but it’s no match for *Sudden Strike 4*, let alone the first two *Sudden* games or *Forever*. Gameplay: The game lacks polish; there aren’t many missions, and sometimes they end up feeling unfinished or illogical. But I’m glad to be able to play a game with solid gameplay; if you’re looking to complete the missions—or at least capture all the objectives and minimize losses—then the game offers very long missions and a solid…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sudden Strike was my late father's favourite game. I found out this game was out by accident, and had to get it in his memory, and for old times' sake when we used to play 1v1. My gaming days are well behind me, but I had to give this classic one final goodbye. The gameplay feels very close to the original, with noticeable improvements to reinforcements that make it a bit more forgiving. Still a difficult game, and I'm so grateful this classic survives. Anyone who liked the previous…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Two Reasons I DO NOT recommend this game: 1. You cannot fully repair vehicles. 2. Infantry Units cannot use cover so are either standing or prone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommend this game maybe when its at $20 or less. This game now I see why people say its not really different from Sudden Strike 4. The game modes they have added has given it a different take for sure, but this isn't as good as the previous Sudden strike titles. I bought the deluxe edition, and can confirm you can't access the skins and other items that is promised. No notes of saying that this will be accessible in future updates. The skirmish maps are bad. CoH 1 had more maps…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Saw it. Tried the DEMO. Bought it. Bottom line for me is that it's fun. So many negative Nancy's out there. Don't listen to them. Been playing WWII RTS's for a long time, which does not make me an expert but experienced. I really like this game, not because it's the best but because it does a fantastic good job at just delivering some intense WW2 RTS fun for you and your buddies. Good content, fairly fast paced, easy controls, very decent graphics, good voice overs, nice in-game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoy the big scenarios! needed around 3 hours for the first axis mission (on hardest difficulty) game feels nice! for me its a worthy new part of the suddenstrike/blitzkrieg genre. at this moment i can't say if its the high price worth. should definately play more! but i am sure i can spend lots of hours just with the campaing. its a good action strategy game. if you search for more action less brainfocused you can go for company of heroes. but if you prefer something more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are a RTS lover you will fall in love with the game. Not many RTS games these days gives u a solid campaign. Many complains so far i see are about the price tag, but people forgot that we pay 60-80 bucks for AAA games with no lesser problems.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NO! Once again, the devs have fast-paced a simple RTS such that it's not enjoyable. And OF COURSE, even set to "Easy AI", the opposing AI is absolutely BRILLIANT at plinking at you constantly with the added "lets make the AI a bit too fast, more deadly (than the player) and moving at a pace that's impossible to keep up with. Sadly, this has become the norm with these RTS games. If I wanted a turn-based game (the only way to slow this trainwreck down is to constantly use "tactical pause"),…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately the game is unfinished. I know the bugs will be fixed at some point but there are also some structural/fundamental problems. It tries to be a epic big battle experience, and also a tactical one. The tools and systems for both are missing, so the game style ends somewhere in the nothing. At this point I cannot recommend it.
