What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 266 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (77,715 of 84,467 positive).
Players find the gameplay loop addictive and fun, often losing track of time. [1][2][3] Many criticize the developer for releasing paid DLCs instead of fixing bugs and adding core features. [4][5][6] Some players report issues with AI-generated art and poor community management. [7][8][9]

I played Supermarket Simulator throughout its beta and absolutely loved it. It was one of those rare indie games that I couldn’t wait to recommend. The gameplay loop was addictive, the steady updates were exciting, and I was looking forward to supporting the full release. Unfortunately, the launch completely changed my opinion. Fun for a few hours. Gets repetitive. Dev releases 6 paid DLCs that could've just been updates. Bugs and performance are never even fixed. Oh, and, don't listen to the dev, the game "art" is 100% AI with no disclosure on the store page. This game is a ♥♥♥♥ cash grab. I wish it never got popular. I wish I never bought it.

I hated working retail, but this game is great, you can be a ♥♥♥♥ right back to them without repercussions. Dude paid for a $5 item with a $100 dollar bill, up yours here's $95 in pennies. OOOHHHHH you're stealing get hit with a baseball bat Sargent sticky fingers. 37 online orders come in at the same and I can you from the store window, BET you are the last stop and I will take the long way, also why are you …

I have autism - and for some reason grocery stores (specifically being a cashier) brings me the most joy in the world. I absolutely fell in love with this game - this is my third day of having it and I already have 8 hours which is crazy - I never play video games this often because I usually get motion sick. This game is endlessly fun, challenging for my brain, and better than rotting on my couch so my therapists …

Players who liked Supermarket Simulator talk about addictive and satisfying gameplay loop; those who didn't talk about paid DLCs lock base game content and are overpriced. Which matters more to you?

Any legitimate concerns that were brought up in the server regarding a possible security breach were treated poorly and with a level of support that could make Comcast customer service seem decent in comparison.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have to steer people away from this because of the wild decision to lock base game content behind DLC paywalls and has ignored fixing ancient bugs in favor of focusing on the content "introduced" in DLC. Recommend everyone check out Supermarket Together for FREE Multiplayer experience with MORE CONTENT using the SAME ASSETS. Check out Megastore Simulator for MORE CONTENT in a larger store footprint and functional customer and staff pathing. Update: This one is getting an overhaul of the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shameful DLC at shameful prices, especially considering several other games offering identical or better functionality for free. Way to ruin a once good game, without fixing any bugs, or adding new core features...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is NOT worth a total of $47 (EDIT 9/10/26: A COMBINED $51!!!!!) for all the DLC and the base game. it's worth the $20 base price, but not more than that. please be realistic with your development capabilities.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They stated for 6+ months that they were "forming a team" to deliver more frequent updates, and then when "the team was formed," the updates came at a similar or even slower pace than the beginning...? They then decide to take the most basic content additions, mostly just in the form of more items to sell, and package them into a bunch of (extremely overpriced) DLC. The discord topic is an entirely different issue in itself. This game had a great foundation that also had the advantage of huge…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to like this game a lot... As the "title" says I used to like this game a lot. I've poured 80 ish hours into it and had good time most of those hours. I'm the sorta person who loves figuring out inventory, stocking up and keeping up with supply and demand so the gameplay honestly felt pretty good to me until I started noticing that bugs just kept popping up..... The visuals, the animaitons, the models, the lightning etc, I figured it's early access and it didn't matter too much, until…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVED this game, and would come back to it every couple months to sink a week or so in. But man it's gone downhill. Updates feel shoddy and AI made, things constantly not working. The Delivery system feels so bad in the game, the DLCs are minor updates that don't really work and cost money. Really sad to see how bad this game has gotten. A genuine "was better before full release" tragic tale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game started out promising. It went downhill very quickly in these past few months. As per usual devs became ignorant and greedy. Don't even get me started on the team over on their discord server. It was a complete ♥♥♥♥ show February: Users start flooding into the discord server claiming their game has been hacked. Screenshots posted. Someone was getting into private lobbies and changing the store name. I myself was a victim. The subreddit started flooding aswell. The discord mod, which I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well say what you want about medieval life but at least they didn't have to deal with buying a stupid Supermarket Simulator game that somehow made hours of your day magically disappear while I should have been working. ;)
neutral · AI labelView post →I like the game quite a bit, but I lose hours of saved progress every update. The game needs several quality of life changes to be genuinely playable: - bigger text options/high contrast mode for easier reading. So much in-game text is really difficult to read. - control remapping - better item filtering/search bar on market/pricing screens - vehicle disappearing bugfix
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game really shot itself in the foot. It's not a particularly complex game, and a lot of it is clearly put together using existing assets. It costs €20, so why aren't the DLC contents included in the base price? I honestly can't recommend it. Instead, I'd recommend Supermarket Together, which gets weekly updates, has no paid DLCs, and delivers essentially the same experience—for free.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have put 500 soul-sucking hours into this game, and it took me a year and a half of grinding (without exploits) to get every achievement. I idled this game all the time while restockers worked to put product back on the shelves and put away the million boxes I had to buy every 1-2 in-game days. I spent entire weekends playing this game to grind out the store expansions. Could I have done it faster if I used exploits or mods? Duh. I only got this game after liking some similar Roblox…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game but the use of AI art hurts me emotionally, I bought it before they went all in on that. Don't buy it if you dont want more ai art everywhere.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7 DLCs at once, many with content that should have just been added to the base game and the purchase price increased? Also, game won't load for most people since the patch. Bugs. bugs. bugs. Bugs all the way down. Happy to change review if these issues are properly addressed, but the devs have been missing the mark a lot recently. Hope they enjoyed their flashpoint moment while it lasted, too bad they couldn't sustain it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun at first, but after a few hours it becomes glaringly obvious that this game was made as a fast cash grab. Poor optimization, major game-ending glitches that have not even been acknowledged, near weekly updates that do not add or fix anything in the base game, and far too many unnecessary paid DLC additions make this slop. We are tired of developers using the EA playbook. This game is made entirely using free premade assets on a free premade engine and it costs over $40 to own in complete.…

neutral · AI labelView post →Fun game that I spent many hours on, but ultimately let down by persistent bugs. At first, the game is very enjoyable and addictive, and I put a lot of hours into it. Unfortunately, there are several bugs that still haven’t been fixed even after months. Updates are rare. The grind also takes too long, especially considering the high risk of running into game-breaking bugs later on that can make your save file useless. update: Update: Unfortunately, after a couple months, I still feel the same…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has potential, but it is being wasted by the decisions of it's management. Adding DLC to what already feels like an incomplete game feels like a greedy money grab, especially when it takes months for even a significantly game altering bug fix to be patched. There is pretty much no incentive to actually grow the number of products on your shelves because of how difficult it is to manage inventory. The vehicles they added are clunky at best and are pretty much not worth buying at all…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a lot of fun with this game. It could probably use a bit more variety, especially in the later levels, and multiplayer is quite buggy still in the full release. That being said, I likely won't be touching the game again. Someone managed to hack into active multiplayer lobbies and change the name of our store, and that of many others. When this was reported in their official discord server, all evidence was promptly deleted, and we were accused of trolling, ban-evading, and making the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the only repetitive and "chill" games I play. They added a bunch of new content, including co-op. I'm happy to see the game expanding. That being said, I just noticed the art was a little off. Seems like I'm not the only one who suspects AI. I get it; commissions are expensive and you're an independant studio. Still, AI art is not the way to go. I will leave my review as positive because of gameplay and continued support, but a move like this is only going to turn away players. Please…

neutral · AI labelView post →Positive reviews are quite missleading. Proper name for the game should be: "Restocker Simulator". As much as the game seems fun at first, it becomes tedious and boring very fast unless you are playing co-op with friends for the following reason: - Real job as cashier is lot more interesting with funny, frustrating or akward encounters with customers then in this game where customers are robotic and boring. Only shoplifters bring a bit of fun. If the real job is more fun then the game it…

Life got a little busy so SMS was yeeted to the backburner. Came back, fresh install, and... crash. It won't even load. No mods installed, clean install, all previous folders removed before reinstallation. It simply will NOT run on my system. The DLCs should have been basic additions to the base game. To put a new category of store items…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The issue in multiplayer with store names being changed by an outside third party happened to my store (which has already been addressed in a review left by my friend). I was left feeling pretty violated and unsafe playing this game. What makes this even worse is the response the devs and Reddit/Discord mods have been putting out. Claiming this is essentially players doing this themselves is the most victim-blamey response I've ever seen from content I've consumed. Addressing it on Discord gets…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good time killer, honestly does involve some strategy: pro tip, list products for market price then put 5% discount as a sale, you'll make more money due to it prompting more customers. don't let the big youtubers fool you lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is frustrating. While it's mildly fun at first, it rapidly devolves into a 'Restocking Simulator.' 90% of your time is spent waiting for your painfully slow staff to refill shelves. If this were an idle game like Cookie Clicker, that would be fine. But it presents itself as an active economy and management game, which is a complete misrepresentation. Your primary 'active involvement' is just watching and waiting. I cannot recommend it. It simply isn't the game it claims to be.

neutral · AI labelView post →Finally, all the achievements are mine, and it only took 192 hours. This game is fun! I do enjoy being the dominant grocery store chain in a town. I love delivering online grocery orders by driving in the wrong lane and jumping out of my car, don't get me wrong, BUT, those shelf stockers are the bane of my existence. If they could stock a shelf to save my life, I would actually turn a profit. Half of this game is relaxed grocery store management, but the other half is screaming at the shelf…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do recommend this game for single player mode. I can't recommend multiplayer, as there are too many bugs and glitches. Category signs reset after each session, lag between players makes us not see the same thing on each other's screens, employees and checkout counters showing up when they're not actually there, phantom boxes on shelves creating stuck labels, etc.. Initially, I'd nominated this game for the relaxing game category, but I feel like there are far too many things that could…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is great and all, but there are 2 points that got under my skin. 1- Customers that buy a 2 dollar worth of items and pay with 100, leading the player to have to give them 98 dollars change which is annoying to deal with. 2- In Co-op, as a guest player, If you try to buy the storage for the first time it unlocks normally, but after ending the session and starting it again, it asks you to buy the storage again even though it is already unlocked, resulting in spending 800 dollars over…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The last update broke 95% of the mods for this game. Why is that important? Because the game economy and progression is horrendous without mods. There’s little to no content, you just have to grind hundreds of days in order to get all the space upgrades and the profit/day stays the same no matter how many new products you sell. The early game is fun but the mid game is stupid, stale and grindy for no reason whatsoever. They need to either fix the economy or fix whatever the mods were…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game that gave me many hours of fun. However, I would have liked to see more management options and QOL: - An overview on the computer showing which goods are currently completely out of stock (including in the warehouse), which ones sold out quickly within a certain period of time and are therefore selling well. I also miss an overview of which goods customers found too expensive. I would also have liked to have had the option of automatically adjusting prices as soon as they…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game when it was still in development, but it's taken a very disappointing turn in adding DLCs for things that should have been included in the base game. In addition, some of the updates I have not liked at all. While they did give us the option to turn off shoplifting, I don't care for the cleaning (hired someone to do that as soon as I could), and I detest the fact that we have online orders. I prefer to run the cash register, so I've canceled every order that has come in…
