Developer Gas Powered Games
Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is a stand-alone real-time strategy video game released at the end of October 2007 as the expansion to Supreme Commander. The second title in the franchise, it was similarly developed by Gas Powered Games and published by THQ. As a standalone expansion, it is possible to play Forged Alliance without owning the original game, although without a valid CD key for Supreme Commander,… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 210 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Overwhelmingly Positive (13,944 of 14,420 positive).
Players widely consider Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance the pinnacle of RTS gaming. [1][2][3] Many recommend using the Forged Alliance Forever client for multiplayer and updates. [4][5][6] Some report technical issues like crashes and freezes. [7][8]

Likely the pinnacle of RTS gaming. The map sizes, army capacity, faction diversity, match length; everything is at a scale so perfect for the genre that I'm not sure any other game even competes.
- [2]
Best RTS, even now. Look up FAF, a community driven launcher that still has an active player base.
- [19]
This is the best RTS game of all time. Get ForgedAllianceForever for a community server to enjoy multiplayer. Steep learning curve, disconnects, everybody is retarded. But it is so worth it.
- [3]
The best RTS of all time. Download the FAF mod for a greater experience and updates, you will definitely need it

i just wanted to give this a positive review as the game deserves to have recent reviews at overwhelmingly positive and i dont like that it dosent join us on the FAF client

The game features strategic zoom, a streaming economy, and a sense of scale that's hard to match. The game is set on the outside of a Dyson sphere, and includes map-altering events like freezing and thawing of oceans, and dropping orbital mirrors to destroy the underlying terrrain. They're well into development now and have released a playable demo as part of their…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright everyone, I'm heading to bed. I was up late playing BAR (Beyond all Reason) which is a Supreme Commander like game! Very fun so far! Anyway I'm sleepy so goodnight everyone!
neutral · AI labelView post →Just like Supreme Commander, Total Annihilation and BAR, this game still has a huge part of my childhood since recieving Supreme Commander for my birthday, I still play this game with friends who I have convinced to play this with me, I have had a super blast with it, especially with FAF and all the co-op campaigns. 100% if you have played this go play BAR to experience a modern RTS like this or play FAF. Thank you Chris Taylor and Jeremy Soule for a great childhood.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's 2026 and the game is still very much playable, I can't find any recent games to match this game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a good RTS game with a good balance of units, just make sure to download the FAF app for better game updates and online
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game gifted to me by a buddy, didn’t expect a ton going in but we had been on a kick of playing Empire at War lately. This game…. Blew every RTS I’ve played up until now out of the water. Loaded it up for the first time with him and we promptly stayed up until 8 am in the morning playing this glorious masterpiece

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great classic game, best RTS ever made. Unfortunatley buggy. Community maintains whatever patches can be done for a healthy multiplayer community with FAF

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Two characters from our sci-fi cartoon game! Spanky is fully animated and will appear in the demo. They slap the player clear off-screen in the cartooniest ways possible. The fatboys are adorable yet tanky lagomorphs and their name was inspired by Supreme Commander. #conceptart #gameart #cartoon
neutral · AI labelView post →Fucking yes, oh my god. I have tried telling people so many times that shooting robots in almost every game sucks. My biggest hangup is Supreme Commander. Just icons of robots killing icons of hostile robots. It's such a theoretically cool game let down by how boring it is to do cool things.
negative · AI labelView post →One of the greatest RTS games ever made. The scale, strategic depth, and soundtrack are still unmatched after all these years. Also, for anyone who still loves Supreme Commander, the Kickstarter for its spiritual successor IS Sanctuary: Shattered Sun, and it is currently live. You'd better go fund it

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that has never been duplicated or surpassed in what it delivers to this very day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would say that kids these days will never know the joy of writing "LOL" with nuclear missile silos and using them to bombard their friends on maps spanning the size of small countries, but they can if they play this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First RTS game to natively support multi-monitor.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was my first experience with an RTS, and it has ruined all other games of the genre for me. I simply cannot imagine RTS games without features this game has. Supreme Commander is very macro oriented, all the while keeping micro elements, i'd say it strikes a very healthy balance between them. Unlike in many other games of the genre, SupCom simulates each projectile properly, and often you can dodge projectiles if they are slow enough. Lasers and homing munitions on the other hand…

I love the scale and the base-planning elements. Awesome strategy game. #gamechallenge #promosky #retro #gamedev #strategygames #retrogaming
positive · AI labelView post →Today was terrible but played one of those games I had and never played and found out it had a lot of satisfying boom boom. Never thought I would find a game where I can go oops all artillery and enjoy the never ending sound of explosions. If you like RTSs checkout Supreme Commander 2.
neutral · AI labelView post →Best Strategy Game of all time, download Forged Alliance Forever if you want to still play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old school RTS game. Downloaded the FAF Client and i play a bunch with my friends, very fun! Also time consuming.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple to play, just the right mix of features, a classic I will play forever.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it is is a very good RTS game even though it is old ,you can play it in different play styles, there are some bugs in this game but overall it is worth it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unrelated, but it was the first (and only) LitRPG I've ever read and figured the fantasy would be whoa, this game sounds fun, and then I get Supreme Commander but bad intermixed with scifi dungeon crawl that is also bad.
neutral · AI labelView post →Go, get the FAF client and join a vibrant multi player online community. 15 years later this game is still unmatched!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played it. It's much more like Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. God I miss the heyday of playing TA online.
positive · AI labelView post →I don't think I could of had a better game to go through childhood with. I have played dozens of other RTS and Strategy games, not one of them came close to even matching the thrill, enjoyment, and sheer level of gameplay that Sup Com can offer. This is BEFORE I found FAF. WITH FAF, this game has so much more potential and enjoyability than 97% of modern games out there, with almost all current day releases falling in the same category. And to think Gas Powered Games released this in 2006 is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh, there's also Forged Alliance Forever - you can still play the solo modes for Supreme Commander and its standalone expansion, but back then their multiplayer side used a slow and clumsy Gas-Powered Game client that ran out of gas after a few years. Fan client FAF lets you play online once more.
neutral · AI labelView post →Best game I have ever played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is still, after 20 years, the best RTS ever made. Please go to the FAF community page so you can get the latest patches and multiplayer access. They maintain the game and I love them for it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Big mecha fighting on big battlefield. Very addictive game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way ahead of its time. Still fun to play. Hard to find a modern, comparable title.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GOAT. download FAF. play with friends. nothing compares 20 years later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The greatest RTS ever made. There's an amazing community called Forged Alliance Forever that keeps the game alive and updated.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The 2007 strategy computer game Supreme Commander actually predicted MAGA infighting because the three factions are neocons, fundies, and techbros.
neutral · AI labelView post →I've been playing this game off and on for about 20 years now. It's an oldie, but a goldie. In 2007 it was unheard of, a game with 80km maps, and thousands of individually pathed units. To this day we still have games inspired by this game, or series of games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To my mutuals: what is a video game franchise you loved that you felt died too early? For me it was Supreme Commander. I loved these games. A RTS game that simply has sheer SCALE to it. The factions are unique, especially the Cybran, and I felt it deserved much more! #mutuals #supremecommander #rts
positive · AI labelView post →I seriously am more tempted than I'd like to admit to see if I can scour and find a perfect font match. -Probably- not master of Orion 2, maybe Supreme Commander? I'm entirely confident I've seen this before in some game, though!
neutral · AI labelView post →There's actually a few more games that should be on here but for 1 caveat: I never actually played them :V As a kid I'd obsesses over a game (notably Supreme Commander) and then could just never afford to play it. I think Doom 3 is the only one on this list that broke through that barrier.
neutral · AI labelView post →1: We all agree idspispopd thinks Big Box PC gaming is best. 2: Sim City 2000 is the best game with the initials 'SC' (except Super Contra, SoulCalibur, StarCraft, Supreme Commander, etc..) 3: yes(Pickles/relishes allowed) 4: Feline Leaders better than Felon ones 5: Marmites are tiny female monarchs

neutral · AI labelView post →Reskeet with a game that's nostalgic to you! This is Freelancer from 2003. I only got to play it a few years later, about 2008. I could not count how many times I played through it. Freespace 1&2, Supreme Commander, Unreal Tournament and The Witcher 1 would have been very close seconds.
neutral · AI labelView post →Came to say Total Annihilation. Even Supreme Commander doesn't satisfy like Total Annihilation with all CPU players on a metal planet. Lining up 15 single shot Big Berthas each with their own fusion reactor...now that's Annihilation.
neutral · AI labelView post →If you are a Warhammer 40K fan this is essential especially with the Unification Mod community. Get the DE edition if it's on sale to ensure Unification works better, well worth it from a handful of factions to around 20+
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not to be dramatic, but EASILY one of the best games I've ever played, blows my mind it has never been replicated. This is THE real time strategy game, it sets the high bar for all other.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A real time strategy that has a unique economic system and tech structure. You just have to destroy their commander, like chess to checkers but in real time. This game was WAY ahead of its time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the game

neutral · AI labelView post →Outstanding balance and gameplay. The 4 factions are varied enough for some very fun variety between matches. If you really want you can download the FAF mod for some QOL improvements, just don't make the mistake of trying to play online. The competitive scene is the only thing that ruins this otherwise perfect rts; it's staler than bread made the same day this game released (decades ago).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Supreme Commander was my jaaaaaam. Loved that game.
positive · AI labelView post →🎮 Game recommendation 🎮 20 years ago I used to play a lot of Supreme Commander with my little brother. It's an RTS, kinda like C&C, but with really massive armies. We are happy to have found :BlobhajHeart: Beyond all reasons :BlobhajHeart: as a true sequel to the game. And the best part: it's open source. https://www.beyondallreason.info #supremecommander #foss #beyondallreasons #bar #gaming
positive · AI labelView post →Guys, do you want a proper Strategy game with physics projectiles and great gameplay? Get this, and then Forged Alliance Forever client. You won't regret. Worth a play before BAR and other games will be released fully to replace this king. Just get it. Best strategy out there by far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is based on Normal difficulty and just installing and playing the game without FAF (Forged Alliance Forever). Hint: Save before destroying the last objective. You can turtle and then build, build, build. Conga line your way to victory. For the 1st mission, I expected to complete the level by completing the objective, but no! Instead, the map expands and now the enemy is kicking my butt! Good thing I loaded a previous save before all hell breaks loose. Seriously, be prepared to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good a strategy game that doesn't need many actions per second for casual play. I got this game all the way back in its physical box at its release. I like this title because of the strategic zoom that allows you to seamlessly go to the whole map view, really making it a strategy game and not a close-in tactics game. You also don't need to micro-manage units too often in casual multiplayer or playing against the computer (something that isn't true with Supreme Commander 2, which is basically a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To this day I still think this is the best RTS ever made. I love how grand in scale everything is and how easy it is to still control and have an overview. It isn't as twitchy as many other RTS' are, instead it rewards planning over quick reflexes and button presses per minute.
