What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 184 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (858 of 1,280 positive).
Players are divided on Sweet Transit, with many praising its unique train logistics but others frustrated by poor tutorials and UI. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find the game rewarding for meticulous planning, while others report game-breaking bugs and opaque mechanics. [4][5][6] The game is described as a mix of Anno and Factorio, but several players feel it fails as a train simulation. [7][8][9]

Several people are giving this game a negative review because it's not the game they thought they were getting, and expected a more casual model train-type experience (which I've been disappointed in other games for being) so make sure you have a clear idea of what this is: This is a logistics base-building game like if Transport Tycoon Deluxe had a baby with Factorio. This is a game you win by building a special …

I don't understand the negative reviews for this game. It is good at what it does, which is be a nice train logistics game. As a fan of the genre I think it stands up, it is nice to have an Anno type game that isn't bloated like 1800 is. The UI is a bit oversized and some of the mechanics regarding passengers are bit obscure but once you figure it out it works fine. Otherwise I like the UI, it is overall pretty nice.

Sadly I can't recommend this game. I really want to, I tried my hardest to find enjoyment in it, but simply can't in the end. The main flaw of Sweet Transit are the convoluted, confusing, and outright clandestine game mechanics. Took me 5 world restarts until I just gave up out of frustration. Key design flaws of this game: 1. The tutorial explains maybe 10% of main mechanics, you're left guessing and tinkering with …

Sour Transit This should totally be my type of game, and it would be if it worked. It's game-breakingly buggy, with the two worst offenders being workers complaining that they have no work while businesses in their (train) range have no workers, and passenger/traveler routes just stopping to carry passengers for no reason at all. Sweet Transit could be pretty... sweet. But right now, it's pretty sour.

Regret buying this outside Steam, think I'd rather refund it. This isn't a game about making trains and routing them, it's a game about building towns and then some trains between them. It's basically Anno, but with trains, it plays very similarly. If I wanted to build towns, I'd have bought "Sweet Towns", not "Sweet Transit". Oh, and while we're at it, all the reviews are right. The UI is absolutely awful, finding …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There was once a game, fair and simple, with a view that spanned across isometric planes, and little trains that ran as sweetly as a summer's breeze. Yet in the course of its making, the road was lost, and the path of its development was derailed. For midway through their labors, the creators, in their folly, sought to strengthen their ranks by hiring a new developer to shape the interface. But they knew not what doom they invited. For the one they brought into their midst was none other…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For this game, steam deck compatibility "verified" means "no controller support" together with the super small font size, which is barely visible. If you are satisfied with such "verified" status, please feel free to enjoy the game. Otherwise, highly not recommended.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dev has enough feedback, since demo, to understand the game have worst UI ever developed. Its a struggle to find what you need. Every game like this have a menu (Simcity, Transport Fever, well any game that is a not a shooter has a menu to build things) just had to copy those. Instead choose a horrible design that didn't work in alpha, beta and keep shoving that on players. For that, I can't recommend.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I keep coming back to this one because I find it to be a unique mix of train and builder game compared to others out there. It's like one third Anno 1800, two thirds train and route management game. Eventually in the mid to late game you build your towns however and wherever you want on a big map and then you supply enough goods to keep them happy and paying taxes. it's very much a sandbox later on. However at the start, you build up in a small area starting with a village and nearby warehouse…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sweet Transit is a more thoughtful and cerebral take on transport fever 2 that rewards you for meticulous planning as well as for your autistic fixations on railway signals and junctions. It is incredibly satisfying to continuously expand, optimize, and re-engineer your railway network as your cities expand throughout the map. While there are practically no resources to learn the game, having come from transport fever 2—and contrary to many of the reviews—I found the game quite intuitive and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like it. It should work. I was looking forward to a Factorio-train-like. But it doesn't -- It infuriatingly gives too little feedback, and expects you to understand why it's refusing to work with you. Problem solving is a nightmare, and in a game like this, that's a reasonable part of it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is so frustrating i really want to like it. there just doesnt seem to be any really functional ways to use the trains... it is easier to build your settlements around couriers and close enough to storage etc such that there is no need for the trains. the train management system is entirely lacking, many of the necessary aspects of managing different route options seem either half baked or so opaque that there is no real way to tell what input will have what effect. the tutorial…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Is a hidden gem, that really grows on you over time. The city building is good, but nothing revolutionary, but if you like city building and trains that is where this shines. The game is open world, build what you want when you want. I made a small town of just laborers, then one with laborers and craftsmen, then one with all 3 classes, I could have added more of each or might have been able to build one large town. I also did not mess with electric nor jet fueled trains, I like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sweet Transit is an enjoyable and very well made game. For me it keeps an excellent balance between complexity and ease of use. You will build intricate networks and supply chains. But you do not need to run a spreadsheet in parallel. The drive to expand your economy comes from the urge for better buildings and of course improved trains. In my first playthrough I ended up with a crazy maze of a train network. Several times I created situations that looked like deadlocks. Mostly because…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst UI i have ever seen. You cant find ♥♥♥♥, and when you fund it, next time it moved to a diffrent place. I have never seen this kind of crap in any other game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am so close to having fun it actually hurts. Why won't my train go when a signal is green? Why do I need 20 signals for a 1 crossing lane to work? Why don't my trains just drive until they crash so I can learn where signals would be best? 100% some of the issues are down to me playing wrong, but the tutorial does great UNTIL the main part of the game; the damn trains!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would like to be able to recommend this game as I have been looking for a great train game for a few years now but I can't. Some of the fundamental systems are just broken. Transporting workers is some kind of black art that must be in an ancient book I don't have. The routing interface just makes no sense and is not intuitive. The warehousing system is just weird. You need to have the main warehouse selected before you build medium storage to be able to use the steel you just made. Wasted an…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sweet Transit, developed by Ernestas Norvaišas and published by Team17, is a city-building and logistics simulator that approaches its genre with a very particular philosophy. Instead of treating rail networks as auxiliary infrastructure—an optional tool to move goods—Sweet Transit makes trains the lifeblood of civilization. Every settlement, factory, warehouse, and production chain exists because the railway supports it, and without efficient scheduling and track design, even the most…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I honestly like this game with some part of my heart, and tried to give it an honest chance, I just could not honestly and whole-heartedly enjoy it. The GUI is awful, the navigation system for the GUI is awful, the train system is barely satisfying, and the game is just confusing. It's less of an open trainline building/city builder game, and more of a "do this, then that, then some more of this" type of game. I unfortunately cannot recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →thought this game was a logistics sim akin OpenTDD. nope. it seems to be some form of city builder with logitics tacked on the side. the part i couldn't get over is the LACK OF REAL NUMBERS. i couldn't properly plan how much material i needed to move when the game wouldn't tell me what i needed to know.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its very fun but there's some incredibly annoying bugs that have been present since full release (potentially from early access, but not sure as I didn't play that) which still haven't been fixed. Having to restart your game constantly to get one of the key mechanics (workers) to actually function properly is not something I can recommend. Hoping this does get fixed and I can change to a thumbs up as the rest of the game is very good and an excellent fresh take on the genre.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is basically unplayable. I really want to play this game, I do. The issue is that every time I try to play it, I get bogged down by annoying issues that won’t let me play - workers not swapping, train not loading, and the like. The whole experience is ruined by bugs because you don’t follow something you’re supposed to do differently. It’s extremely frustrating and I do recommend even trying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm sure designers worked hard to come up with the signal system, but it simply does not work for me. I've spent literally HOURS to understand it, yet to no avail. I'm going back to sweet embrace of TTD to clear my head and enjoy immediate effects of building railroads and stations.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game definitely doesn't explain several mechanics very well, and there will be frustrations with unclear progression requirements. That said, the game is not too complicated to figure out with a little time and focus if it looks like something you'd enjoy, and you'll be rewarded with a satisfying, resource-driven town building experience with industrial mechanics that seem appropriately complex. The artwork is charming, and I personally love the designs of the locomotives, of which there…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite builders. Optimizing train routes is a blast (and yes, understanding switches etc. is complicated at the beginning, but once you get them everything works like a charm and I didn't have any issue with that), and it all looks very pretty, performant, and, uh, sweet I guess. Makes me a little sad to see the negative reviews, but take them with a grain of salt, especially when they criticize the UI (I think it's more because it changed from early access than because of how it is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This games complexity hits the right spot for me, not too complex but not overly simplistic. Unfortunately, once you get to your second or third settlement, the AI breaks down. Trains do not follow prescribed routes, do not stop to unload where they supposed to, do not deliver where they supposed to. I do not think I'm overlooking anything here, as I meticulously checked for things like absence of goods/workers, absence of free space, etc. Other people also reported wonkness with the signals,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has so many problems it's honestly impossible to recommend. The biggest is the absolute lack of urgency or progression. You start out in basically a perfect state, your people are happy, you make a lot of money, and resources are so plentiful there's nothing driving you forward to expand, get more resources and grow your city. The game has several UI problems, buildings only show contextually, which is awful to start with. The tutorial might as well not be there, it's pointless.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overly complicated to a fault. This game mistakes arcane mechanics for actual difficulty.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like Sweet Transit. For fans of "Industry Giant" or "Transport Fever", which can accept they only can use trains, this game is great. I like almost everything, even the graphics (because I like the style) and most game mechanics. I only played the sandbox mode (and some tutorial missions). Neutral: The train signal mechanic is quite complex. The train signal tutorial helps to understand the basics about it, but you still run into problems if you have multiple tracks which cross or you try to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Avoid Avoid Avoid I spent too much time trying to get this game to work to qualify for a refund. Don't let it happen to you. The game just doesn't work correctly or consistently: Workers don't go to work, trains don't obey signals, build controls come and go based on logic only known to the devs. Reload or delete and rebuild and something different happens. Avoid
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really wanted to like this game because I love the genre but it just feels half baked and a like a regression from stuff like Transport Fever 2 and Openttd
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't even get the basics because of the horrible UI. It auto shows/hides you the options it thinks are allowed based on were you view the map in that moment or something. Totally riddled. I can build a saw mill, then I have an option for tree nurseries, which disappears after I built the first ones. Then I never manage to see the option again, even when building another saw mill. Searched the "wiki" in the game for help, nothing regarding the UI is explained. Tried to watch a YT video on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really good game. When I play a game all day, go to bed, and wake the next day wanting to play the game again, then I know it's a good game. I'm going to describe what the game is really all about in a bit. First, let me get a couple of small things out of the way. Gameplay is ultra smooth. Great camera control, smooth train flow, and a nice look too. I like how it gives the buildings a nice 3D effect. I don't know how they did it, but it looks like toy models on a table.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sweet Transit is a very train-focused game with some city-building attached. The learning curve is very steep, with a lot of information that's difficult to find, or just outright not explained in the game at all. Some things you can determine online, but some things you can't. Most players will hit barriers and give up after about 8-10 hours. Just look at how most players abandon it early, even those with positive reviews. Some people who are really into trains get past the economics of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to recommend this game but based on multiple factors, I cannot. First, the learning curve is steep. Even now after 167 hours, I can't explain exactly how certain mechanics function and I often run into issues stemming from that. Even the in-game wiki is missing information I'd deem vital. Not only that, this is one of those rare games that it's hard to find information for even online, if at all. Second, it still suffers from bugs and having been seemingly abandoned, those bugs may…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to give my review to help bring this game up from its mixed rating as I do think it is a very entertaining game for train enthusiast. As someone that has played Transport Fever 2 and Railway Empire, I appreciate this game for having maybe the easiest rail building, as well as realisitic train system out of those prior two mentioned. The trains don't magically just 'flip' (unless you intentionally build a reverse drive train to go in reverse at an end of a line). I'm not sure when the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and solid gameplay loop. Wish the dev didn't abandon it, as I'm sure some more expansions/updates would've been a welcome addition. That being said the modding community has definitely taken this game under its wing. A really great workshop expansion is the Artisans mod, lots of content in there! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I put a lot of hours into this game, over 200, I really liked it at first. Super addictive and also fun! However, it just got too samey, and as you progressed through, although the music is great, its only 1 playlist which got super repetitive. the actual game play also got really repetitive and the fact that everything has to go to one warehouse also got unmanageable really. Shame as this has / had loads of potential, but they just missed the mark with hit.,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game good. Has trains. UI isn't as bad as people are suggesting but it does jump around a lot when you're doing things from page to item. It's quite a bit like OpenTTD in gameplay but the way resources are done is different. Building towns and making sure your citizens have what they need is how you make money, and making money is how you buy things and expand your towns. So from what I can tell the game is about expanding your towns slowly and making a more and more interconnected…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The one feature it needed to be good at - trains - is dismal in its setup. Other transit games make it simple to setup train networks. This game, which has them at its core, has the worst UI for them I've seen since Satisfactory's train system.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anno meets TTD. It's not as good at being Anno as the original, nor as good at being TTD as the original, but the whole is also more than the sum of its parts, i.e. just having both aspects in one game makes it fun in its own way. Seems like a lot of the early issues (bugs, inscrutable UI design) have been getting better in recent patches.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LMFAO people are too dumb to figure out train signals so they thumb the game down and claim that it has bugs. The only "bugs" are people's incompetence. This game is fantastic. If you understand how train signals work in all such games (Factorio, Satisfactory, etc.) you won't have any problems. If you like those games or games like Transport Fever, you'll love this. Ignore the mongos who can't figure it out. In 47 hours I have just pushed my first settlement over 10,000 inhabitants and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crack cocaïne isn't as addictive as this. It completes the holy trinity of games that pull me into a time-void. Satisfactory for the factory Factorio for the combat Sweet Transit for the city building Pick your poison
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to like early access version of this more, due to that vibe of absolutely no rush and freedom of expression through play. Game used to have slower progression and felt more like a sandbox colony building sim, almost like Stronghold or Settlers but with trains. And trains ran on steam, with nice chugging sounds and were a marvel to watch, especially after swapping out original soundtrack (its great, but gets repetetive soon enough) with the selected works of Henri Mancini. This was a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Strange mix of elements that just don't feel like they've come together in a coherent game. Sounds great in theory, but never felt like it clicked for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was going to buy this again and i remember i deleted it because of the UI. Thank you comments for doing what my memory couldn't. Fix U Make it user friendly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are good things here but the UI is a mess makes it hard to find what you're looking for. There also must be a memory leak or something. The game crashed my system a couple times.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately the game is boring and playing it is boring. One big reason is the convoluted UI that seems to follow some unnecessary complicated logic. Managing production chains feels somehow half baked and setting up the train routes tiresome. I like these sort of games but this one didn't unfortunately work for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Theres a lot of QoL and UX and balancing issues, I really didn't expect it to be this bad from someone related to factorio.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The aesthetic is great and sometimes it works and it's really fun busywork, but often I just sit there for a chunk of time trying to figure out why my workers don't take the train to my industries. Nothing that would make sense fixes it, nothing helps, it just happens. Too often. A real pity.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All bad reviews are people who have sub 40 IQ
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to like this game but the interface is infuriating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Skip this one I tried to like (play) this game. It's buggy as heck. Things work, when they don't, then they do again, and then... they just quit working. It's a good concept, but very half-baked. Buy at your own risk. You'll likely have plenty of issues like a lot of others do. No chance this game will ever get updated/fixed. The devs look like they churn out games one after another... thus, half-baked. Avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, this is a good game. I've spent nearly 100 hours on it between my two accounts, and I've enjoyed it quite a lot. Unfortunately, it does have some quirks that some might not be able to get past. The way that cargo is transferred to stations involves people carrying it there, however, the industries base amount of people is never enough to meet production. The only solution that sort of seems to work is to use courier shacks to increase throughput, but sometimes even that doesn't work.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still undecided. The forced progression sucks for pros returning after full launch. The game forces you to build an inefficient small town before unlocking basic trains, dumb. Okay, I guess I'll build this super inefficient town from the start and then build what I want. Fine. Also, the UI overhaul is a step backwards. I don't like it. That being said, going to give another shot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a slow burn and initially you feel the controls are awkward and a bit clumsy. You may stop and start a few times and think this is just crap. But persevere and you will find a fantastic logistical puzzle built around trains but also moving goods/people around to form a fantastic looking transportation system. I have only 46 hours in at the moment, around the 2nd main play-through after a few false starts, and will be playing this for many more hours. Just optimising the layout and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Idea, Poor Execution I picked Sweet Transit up on sale for just a few dollars, and honestly, I still feel like I overpaid. I think the core idea is really good, and there is definitely a great game buried somewhere in here, but the whole experience just feels clunky and off to me. Things that should be simple are made unnecessarily complicated, while other mechanics just don't feel intuitive or satisfying. There were also a few things that annoyed me so much that they eventually…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fine, but the pressure to expand wasn't strong enough to keep me motivated. If the expansion is simply at your own pace, then why ever do it? The economy also poses no real risk of failure; you start with so much money you'll likely never feel the need to optimize or expand to generate more. I like the aesthetics. It makes sense this game looks good as it was created by Ernestas Norvaišas, who was a 3d artist for Wube working on Factorio. Unfortunately it seems the aesthetic was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically solo Anno with trains. It's very enjoyable but it does not explain some of it's basic mechanics very well. The UI has also the tendency to filter and hide many panels and buildings. Once you know where to find stuff it doesen't matter, but it makes for a frustrating first experience. There is quite a bit of complexity once you have multiple towns and industries interactiong with each other. However, most of it comes from battling with your own rail network. There are not that many…
