This game comes really close to being great, but it just misses the mark on multiple counts. I was excited to play it at first, but ended up bored and frustrated after a few hours. First of all, the game looks great: I love the overall visual design, the world they've created looks lovely, and the art style is really nice too; animations leave something to be desired, but that's not really a focus for a game like …

Despite being a very cool game, with lots of interesting mechanics, its studio was bought out and shut down in January 2026. It was not a very mature game, lots of bugs are around and some mechanics need to be refined or modified. I had some fun playing it, but it really disappointed me the dev pipeline is dead, because the problems in the gameplay really shows.

This is a fantastic game with a great message about environmental stewardship, and it's clear that a lot of love has been poured in even if there are bugs. The best comparison I could make to another game would be Against The Storm; both city builders where you assign population to production or logistics, stack bonuses via the relation of buildings to your central hub, trade with other wanderers, etc. The key difference is that in this game there aren't other citizen species and there's a lot…

Now I’m not a city builder expert. I usually play these games to relax, not to manage ten overlapping systems that punish me for breathing wrong, but Synergy caught my attention right away, all thanks to its unique artstyle. The art here is beautiful. The pastel tones, the shapes, the way your city nicely blends into this weird alien landscape. The sound design fits perfectly. Calm, quiet, with a nice dose of ASMR menu sounds. At first, Synergy feels cozy, peacefull even. You build things,…

Synergy is a great example of how a cool initial idea is completely ruined by undercooked execution. Visual design. As you can see from the screenshots - the game looks kinda neat and unique. Here is the problem though: with this drawn design the developers did not draw every facing of a building - so not only you can’t rotate most of the buildings properly (most only have 2 options), but you are also unable to rotate the map. Considering that this game has some big buildings that can…

I want to preface this by saying that I got this as part of Humble Bundle Choice, so I didn't technically spend money on this game. Frankly, I'm not sure I would've picked this up even during a sale, but I decided to take a look since it was sitting in my library anyway. First off, the good: the game looks quite nice and runs pretty well (until it hard crashes after about 3-5 hours of continuous gameplay). Playing on Balanced, I never felt like the game was screwing me over to the point that I…

It's difficult to recommend something that has been ruthlessly abandoned via a corporate takeover, but there is still a great game at the core here and it's worth engaging with the original studio's work. Music, art, and the overall vibe of becoming environmental stewards in a strange land are great. There are no enemies per se - only surviving in a harsh land. Unfortunately, campaign mode feels like an uneven tutorial, where your hand is held too much, while at the same time, certain…

Synergy is an eco-city builder set in a world after an unspecified apocalypse. Our goal is to build a functioning, stable city and understand the new rules that govern this world. Rarely does a game place so much emphasis on careful planning and strategic foresight. You need to plan well ahead, adapt and sometimes ditch working strategies because environment changed too much. A predatory economy only brings short-term benefits, while careful management mixed with pro-ecological activities…

I really love this game. It's a city builder, it comes with pretty graphics. Unfortunately, it's quite buggy. Menus disappear often, and I have to close and reopen the game to get them back. The bigger the colony becomes, the more often buildings randomly stop working. Closing the game and reopening it usually fixes it. If not, destroying the building and rebuilding does. "Closing and reopening" almost feels part of the experience, which is fairly disappointing and the reason why I cannot…

It's been well over a year and I understand fully that it's sold as well as the devs expected so they want to move on, but it's pretty disappointing to have to choose between playing the game at 0.7 scale so that all the UI elements work normally on small screens, or being able to see everything at 1.0 scale and having both horizontal and vertical overflow issues, missing tooltips or buttons you can't…

This game is beautiful and has great concept. The bad? After several updates it seems like they have not gone back into the scenarios to make sure their game changes match the sequence of quests. This doesn't mean objectives aren't possible, but often the pacing of some quest objectives is widely disparate. Some objectives being instantaneous, and others sometimes requiring the next quest's objectives to finish timely. This often leads to an entire quest being finished as soon as you receive…

I have my grievances with how environmentalism focused or aware games do... environmentalism. Especially using the management simulator to do so. Cuz while the intent is to especially rely on plant synergies to maintain your cities... eventually every scenario city became me making mono-crop or dual crop massive fields to meet some large scale need, and that just fully takes me out of any sorta environmentally conscious type design focus While the story is like "we are trying to learn from…

But that's the problem--I like the concepts, but the execution is messy. Even after playing through the tutorial, the game is not very well explained. There were a lot of things I had to figure out on my own because there isn't any direction on how to proceed. For example, the optimal way to raise Culture and Knowledge and…

Synergy is a very special city builder, in my estimation. Its aesthetics, as well as its ideas on the value of culture, science and environmental harmony are unique among its genremates. Synergy is a game that really leans into Sid Meier's rule, that a good game is a series of interesting decisions, in that everything you do affects something else. You are always striving for the right balance and synergy between your resources, your built settlement, and the environment. It's a slow burner,…

If you've just finished Scavengers Reign, Incal or World of Edena, you will have some fun with it for like a week and then never think about it again. But that's the issue. It's just underbaked. I started a trend to finish my steam games, but games like these make it impossible. Too many things wrong with this one, go next.

In this, I actively *hate* my colonists and colony. The more people you have, the worse things get and I don't think you can't stop the colony growth. Love the Moebius -style art. This game is an easy way to lose 200 hours.

I'm sorry that I slept on this game. Frostpunk and Rimworld combined with unique and beautiful art design. At forty hours, I think I have a handle on how to complete the rest of the scenarios (2/6 done), but I've restarted a few times after learning new mechanics and have played on Balanced Mode (there's a higher difficulty). It isn't perfect and I wouldn't expect the replayability of Rimworld—for multiple reasons including the developer studio's closing—but if you've enjoyed Frostpunk or both,…

I don't know why but anytime I boot it up it's just so uninteresting I end up playing for 10-15 mins at a time or just start to afk. I get too sleepy and just keep putting it off. Just not for me I guess.
