Opinions are divided on new mechanics like elemental weaknesses and boss runbacks, with some calling them tedious. [1][2][3][4]

I cannot recommend this game in its current state. Despite the developers continuing to release DLC and updates, a major progression breaking bug involving the Lightning Spell Softlock has existed since Day 1 and remains unfixed. During the Thunder Magic Arena, the lightning spell icon fails to activate/light up, making it impossible to defeat the enemies required to move forward. This isn't an isolated incident. …

Feels a lot tighter and more polished than the previous game. Less filler, more action. The elemental powers and enemy strength/weakness to then give you a reason to try new armor and weapon combos. The story feels "less good" than the previous one, like there's just less of it since most of what you do is restore your castle and than go fight the final boss. The mini-quests aren't very interesting - just go kill …

This game leaves a somewhat bittersweet aftertaste: the hand-drawn art style is gorgeous and does justice to the first chapter, and the combat system has been improved as well. The problems start with everything else. The story is recycled from the previous game, and the endgame is almost nonexistent. I personally like to complete everything I can before moving on to the next objective, and this led me to finish the …

As someone who played the previous game to the fullest and played this game to the fullest too. I have to say. The original is better. I don't mean it in a bad way. The original is more fun because it didn't have the stun mechanic this game has. And I understand why they decided to make the mechanic. It's a sequel afterall. They had to make a new feature in order to intrigue the gameplay for returning players. They …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before we talk esoterically, I have to defend this video game: If you look at the reviews, you would think the developers have turned it into a different genre altogether or something. A mass psychosis of misinformation or, unfortunately, people with mediocre skills getting upset at the difficulty in a souls-like tagged game: Yes, there are annoying moments, but nothing that was not already in the 1st game, the status ailments, while not my favorite, are not the worst thing ever, and they are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just played both 1 and 2 back to back. Glad I didn't trust reviews. So what if the side quests are of monster hunting? So what if they added elemental weakness elements to the combat? Typical RPG stuff. Played flawlessly and I experienced no glitches. And its less than 15 bucks. Recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Strangely enough, despite the flaws of the first game, Tails of Iron was a nice discovery while ToI 2 is just a bloated fest repeating the same mistakes. The first game was mostly a well-focused adventure only dragged down by its clunky combat (such as fighting against the controls). ToI 2, on the other hand, is like the developers had a vision of making things bigger, but also meaner by focusing on difficulty which they didn't try to craft well enough. The art style is great and it really…

neutral · AI labelView post →New Additions, Old Problems This game deserved a mixed review. Tails Of Iron 2 shares a lot of similarities with Remanent 2 and Nioh 2, as in all three of them being sequels that simply add tons of new stuff and tweaks to the established core gameplay loop. However, Tails Of Iron 2 doesn't have the same quality as the other two do. The first game is a decent but deeply flawed game. The dev team tries to address some of the criticisms in the sequel while also exploring other possibilities,…

positive · AI labelView post →Unpolished, full of bug, badly optimized compared to the first game. the new roaming boss system feels really lackluster and full of bug. The final act is a mess, the narrator speaks to slow compared to the cutscene. If u don't wanna play a mediocre unoptimised game i don't reccommend this one, the first game is way better

neutral · AI labelView post →I’m disappointed with the choices made for the sequel. Adding spells was a fresh but welcome idea. Why did they include resistance mechanics, boss runbacks, and stuns? I finished the game in about nine hours, and more than half that time was spent just wandering the world or returning to base to pick up a mission, only to head somewhere else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The visuals and story are good, so I think if I ever replay this it will be on story mode just to experience it. That is also what I would recommend to others. The core mechanics are terrible. There are elements that all just stun you, allowing enemies to hit you with a double attack by stunning you and then following up with another attack. This is greatly aggrevated by armor that have negative status effect, forcing you to swap gear the whole time. It also forces you to drink the ♥♥♥♥♥♥…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great successor that's worth playing. I enjoyed every minute and it's also easy to get all achievements. The game offers different difficulties that you can easily change for a save slot. It runs very well on the Steam Deck and you can easily get 3-4h of battery life. It's worth mentioning that every time I closed the game, the Deck restarted. That's not a big issue, just a bit inconvenient.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-artstyle is great -combat/gameplay same as the first. Not great but fun enough. Enemies are beefy and almost everything two shots you . -addition of elements, in theory not a bad idea, in practice it just requires boring and time consuming gear management and replacement. It has the exact same start as the first game: I mean, why?! Okay, I can understand that it's a good way to start the game, but having the exact same entrance is unforgivable. They could have made Arlo and his father build a new city from scratch. 2. Most things…

neutral · AI labelView post →This was a disappointing sequel! I would give it 2 out 5 stars. I enjoyed the first game, but this one wasn't nearly as good. I liked the writing, art style, simplicity, and progression in Tail of Iron, but the writing was bad in this sequel especial the woke garbage in the Merlin quest. The simplicity is gone with an overly complex armor and weapon system which encourages frequent swapping out gear. The progression now seems to based largely on grinding for crafting components. Finally, I found…

Probably Ghost of Yotai if nothing comes before it.
neutral · AI labelView post →I would give this a sideways thumb, if I could. Art is still great, narration is great, and the world is fun. There are some fun fights and world exploration is still fun. I had a fun time, most of the time. The bosses feel much more BS than challenging. I feel like a lot of the systems are undercooked in this one. It feels like they wanted to be more ambitious but ran out of time and had to cobble it together in a working game. I feel like crafting took a way from the exploration and weapon…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the first game thought this would be the same but it just copies Monster Hunter specifically all the bad gimmicks bosses just run before you kill them, having to sharpen your weapon just because its so annoying and then to top it off you have to keep going to shops to just be able to sharpen your weapons and having to restock for every fight is so infuriating plus elemental stats are so annoying the first game had this fixed idk why they decided to change it you just had restock stations…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really excited to play the sequel after the first TOI but this was a huge disappointment. There are too many issues with this game. First I'll list the pros - a) Visual cues are really good. They did not break what did not need to be fixed. On to the cons - a) Very mediocre story - Literally a rehash of the first one but doesn't hit the same high note as the first one. I did not play this game for the story but some effort to change this up would have helped. b) Poor enemy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, tails of iron 2 is worse than it's prequel ToI1 had it's own problems: a bit clunky combat, crossbows being the worst of ranged options and everything killing you in 2 hits after 30% of game But ToI2 didn't fix those problems, and even make it worse. I think I'll start with introducing new mechanic to the game, elemental damage. Now your weapons and armor can deal/resist elemental damage and same goes for enemies, overall: Melee weapons improve because of that Armor doesn't really…

neutral · AI labelView post →tl;dr Sequel to a beloved game that could, Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter makes some bulky sidesteps that only somewhat work in its favor. Continuing in the same style of action adventure where a rat-turned-ruler has to save his realm from an invading horde, this time it’s Arlo from the North who must fend off Dark Wings. Souls-like combat in 2D format is nothing new, but game expands on the equipment system without including the means of sorting the newfound item galore. Introduction of…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →horrible level design, enemies are all designed to stun lock you and since youre always fighting more than one you can get into situations where its impossible to not take damage. armor system makes no sense, you have to constantly switch out your equipment because every piece of gear has random negatives. every mission has you going back to the same 3 places over and over to do the same thing and fight the same enemies. the first one was way better, this whole elemental system in combat ruins…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Achievements are bugged. Bosses will run away from you and you have to fast travel to them over and over again. Developers forgot what fun is. Just get the first game and forget this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even better than the first one! The weapons are much more developed this time around, there is no annoying bloody whisker mode achievement, the worldbuilding is incredible, and the story intertwines really well with the one from the first game (no spoilers ;) ). The only thing I would change is the amount of resources needed to craft every equipment in the game for tier 3. I personally gave up, because there is no achievement tied to it like in the first game, but it would be nice to see all…
