What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 68 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (94 of 102 positive).
Players praise Tentacular as a charming, physics-based VR puzzle game with a cute story and great sense of humor. [1][2][3]

This game started off really fun. It felt like a bit of puzzle game but with physics and tentacles, I really enjoyed how goofy yet fun it was. But then the bad annoying and straight up frustrating missions started. All about building up stuff where things have to stay in exact positions. Now, this wouldn't be the end of the world if you had hands, however, you have tentacles. This not only means that you can never …

Played only for an hour so far, but I want to appreciate that someone's making a puzzle game in VR with actual story, world, and continuity and not just a tech demo or a bunch of random levels. Otherwise the game is kinda like Stolen Pets, but with physics. The tentacle controls work well (reminds me of Gorn) and there's a good feeling of weight and physical feedback. The style and story are very endearing. If you …

Experienced on the Meta Quest 2 You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/PitflnfiyGI I do recommend Tentacular, it's a very cute narrative-driven physics puzzler for VR. Beware though, there is a lot of text box reading involved in this game as there are no VOs, all the characters speak gibberish. Despite that I enjoyed the narrative even though it's obviously a simple story geared for families. Elon …

I liked this game at first. It's really fun and the method of control is really cool. However, it gets really hard really fast. The story makes you do ridiculous tasks that are down near impossible... unless you are a surgeon with immense precision, this game is just gonna make you mad. I make it past a level just to get stuck on another. It wants me to put 20 (yes twenty) concrete blocks in a tiny little container …

Very good VR puzzle game, love it! Tentacular has so much cool ideas and a great premise of having two wobbly tentacles to solve all the hilarious puzzle objectives. I had hours of fun and the price is totally worth it. Sometimes it can be a bit frustrating or seem to be unfair, but overall the and graphics are really cute, the music is awesome and the tasks are always fun - especially those where you can make up …

93% of the 68 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Tentacular. The complaint that keeps coming up: building puzzles can be frustrating due to imprecise tentacle controls. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't be fooled by Tentacular's wacky looks, beneath its age-friendly exterior lies a crafty puzzle game with a great sense of humor that requires you as a player to work with the limitations of your massive Kaiju body, but that doesn't mean you won't can amuse enormously with the long tent cells and the powerful suction cups. Watch my first gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59pGxl2qt0c Tentacular is set around La Kalma, an island where when you turn 16 you have to find a job to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved it! Pretty good VR game. They do a lot of things right that make it a good VR experience. It should serve as an example to other VR devs. Every menu is a physical object and it all feels very polished and fluid. Plus it's just a lot of fun. There's a sandbox mode to let you smash, build and play to your heart's content. Good stress relief. It's very gratifying to chuck a character that's annoying you. I got 14 hours out of the game in my first run and I have plenty of reason's to go back.…

Hey internet user, are you tired of looking at that other tentacle stuff and want to control them yourself while being bossed around by people from the Wii universe? positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a pretty fun experience overall. If it's on sale, it's a steal. That's my TL:DR. Now for a bit more. THE PROS The idea is solid and executed well in my opinion. You're a giant octopus monster with two large tentacles for your main way of interacting with everything. Along these two tentacles, it allows for different levels of strength and control over objects. At the tip, it's weaker, more floaty but you can really fling objects far since your arm is whip-like. At the base, you…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice and cosy VR hidden gem. The puzzles are very casual and laid-back but aren't scared to challenge you at times, the physics of the giant tentacles are an absolute joy to screw around with and the inclusion of a sandbox mode is nice to see and pretty fun to play around with on it's own. The art style, while quite basic, is really cute and definitely has it's own charm. It's not the longest experience; most native VR experiences aren't, but this is a pretty dang solid one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Are you using PCVR with steam or is this quest exclusively? If using steam: Super; you're literally a super hero, there are missions with different powers or a free play mode where you can mix and match different powers in each hand etc. Garden of the sea; basically a cute animal crossing type of thing grow your plants, make friends with animals etc. If just using quest: [Neko Atsume](https://www.oculus.com/experiences/app/8401739766534648/); a cute Japanese cat game where the cats just…

Cheers and great work
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tentacular is a brilliantly designed game perfect for VR. The experience unfolds as you travel from island to island, each presented as a charming 3D diorama that reminded me of the level design in The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets. Each scene has just enough detail to bring it to life along with an eclectic cast of characters to interact with. Tentacular is a charming interactive experience with a cute story and engaging physics-based gameplay that’s fun for the entire family. The game…

neutral · AI labelView post →Messed around with it for about 6 hours. I did finish the main story line but not of all the side missions. The main issue with the game are the building missions. Imaging having floppy pool noodles for arms and then trying to use wobbly magnets to peace together structures. It just makes it more frustrating than fun. It is extremely difficult to get anywhere near the perfection that you really want in order to build things. I really wanted to enjoy the building missions but just couldn't get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3) It was like entering an alien world; rows of club kids, tech heads, and game developers sat in front of desktops, lost in the primitive version of some new reality. Tentacular cables hung from the ceiling. Ambient techno reverberated from wall to wall. Cigarette smoke filled the air.
neutral · AI labelView post →This is turning out to be a pretty fun game with its building puzzles and throwing stuff as a giant octopus.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game here, not finished it yet but having a great time with it. There loads of inventive ideas and cool puzzles, and the plenty of challenge with all the little side missions. should be very re-playable too with its extra sand boxy stuff away from the main story and the fact you can beat missions in a variety of ways. should probably also mention i liked the art style and the humour in the game. easy recommend :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tentacular is a great VR puzzle game. There is no super complex stuff here but whats on offer works exceptionally well. The puzzles are not so much hard but an excuse to just have fun messing around but they don't feel too basic or underwhelming. Its a really well polished little experience with a lot of effort put in to the writing and sandboxy elements, and the developer really focused on little interactivity features with the world that make this game fun and enjoyable to play. Its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's plenty of good vr puzzle games, and there's plenty of games with funny stories or experiences.... This is an amazing mix of both, I'd recommend it to any VR user.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a great game. Great style, interaction. design, puzzles. Its a puzzle game with character, and I would liken it to Job Simulator in many ways. If you like Job Sim I think you will like this title. Good story, cute characters, and thought the wobbly arms can be frustrating at times, its fun and meant to be that way, otherwise it would be too easy. Perhaps a wobbly factor setting could help reduce the frustration. I really like this title and think it a bargain for the price, especially when…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You need a big heart to against Reach's launch. Giving some Tentacular vibes, mixed with VRobot destruction + local co-op (local-coop???!!!), Me, You and Kaiju draws me in for the local co-op. I'm keen to see how that works, and see how big this game's heart is! store.steampowered.com/app/3092200/
neutral · AI labelView post →Lately I've been playing a VR game called Tentacular where you're a giant tentacle monster who helps out a small seaside town. The villain is a rich businessman who loves rockets and wants to build increasingly dangerous ones and rule the town. His name is Mollusk. My escapism is too real 😫
positive · AI labelView post →the final magnet level is not letting me actually take a picture, even though everything is in place and tentacles aren't in the shot. What did I do wrong?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tentacular is a game made by a small team called Firepunchd. It's a game where you are a giant squid creature and you go on a journey of figuring out where you belong. It's a VR title, and the update added a robust sandbox mode. The devs are incredibly kind people and are so passionate Tentacular.
neutral · AI labelView post →Adorable, quirky and honestly quite funny. I love the visual style, the town and various locations are like looking at one of those wonderful model train displays (except i don't get screamed at for touching it). The wee cars zooming around (then exploding after a hurl them), the way the townspeople parachute back if you launch them into space. fantastic. Runs well, simple to pick up but requires a bit of finesse. I can see how the movement of the tentacles could frustrate some people but its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really incredible puzzle game that has a funny charming story and memorable characters whilst being fun to play and so immersive that you really somehow forget it's vr even if the concept of being a squid is ridiculously silly

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A hidden VR gem. Devolver Digital has made some hilarious games in the past and it's interesting to see a weird game from them, a VR game on top of that. Playing as some sort of a lost Kraken, you befriend a small village of people and help them sort out their problems while trying to sort out who you are. They essentially teach you the basics and then let you go from there to solve each situation you're called into in a create way. Some players might find certain missions fun or frustrating,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game uses VR physics to make a fun puzzle game instead of some janky tech demo, It’s addictive, you can spend hours autisming out trying to perfectly stack cars, cargo containers, etc. Thinking you finally cracked the code and everything is solid, and then boom, the whole structure collapses because the physics engine said F you I love the vibe of being a massive, friendly squid kaiju just helping out an island full of people, It's a vibe, man, a weird vibe, but a good one If you've got…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Works on Reverb G2. It is a casual physics puzzler/sandbox with a twist of having giant tentacles for arms. The latter does add some comedic value by letting you accidentally destroy you own creations, but becomes more of burden in some of the later side missions focused on building. Physics interactions are responsive and fun, I could not stop banging on metal surfaces during cutscenes, because it was so satisfying to do. Levels are very diverse and vary from easy throwing challenges to…

Everything from interacting with people to grabbing objects is a real treat and shines in virtual reality as you progress through different levels and help the citizens completing fun and unique tasks for them. Def a must have for any VR fans <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't understand all the positive reviews, the rockets are fun, could've been kerbal sim in vr and would've been better. Needs tweaking for sure. Requires fine control, give you tentacles, and it's not fun like surgeon sim, it's just tedious. Also bugged out in the penultimate quest when I threw the doc in to the vault Needs a lock on the dispenser as well to stop inadvertent wastage, too. 2.5% of people have completed it. Speaks volumes to me. It tedious, not fun, sorry Devolver, usually…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the funnest vr games I've played. The puzzles are all fun and range from simple tasks like moving a some boxes to more complex ones like building a functioning draw bridge. The tentacle arms are very enjoyable to use weather your flopply throwing stuff or trying to precisely building with them. The writing is very funny with some great satire, and absurd situations. If you enjoy vr puzzle games I highly recomened it!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome! Looks great and plays great on Vive Pro 2 with wands. I'm less than half way through, so surprised that there's a quality story in this game with humor, drama, plot twists and social commentary. A true gem. Wow, I never expected a 3D tribute level to an unforgettable flat 1980's coin-op arcade game, but it's here. It's also got bridge truss building and rocket engineering!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Congratulations to the developers, in addition to their creativity, they did a great job in the development, because I had no problems at all throughout the game. The game it's so much fun and some interactions are actually quite funny. I was laughing at the characters' reactions after I threw them away, hahahah I highly recommend this game!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I need to play something other than PowerWash Simulator VR. Let's go back to Tentacular again. *plays for a bit* Oh, right, this game keeps not giving you enough room and sliiides you away from surfaces if you try to lean over them, which is the entire game of you playing as a tiny town kaiju. #vr
negative · AI labelView post →Fun simple game with a sinple story as well. I haven't gotten that far but I can tell the quality is there. The controls can be frustrating but that's kinda the challenge.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and cute. Very enjoyable campaign. The gameplay mechanics are... well, if they aren't unique to this game, they're certainly not overused in VR. It's almost an octodad or QWOP-like, in that your interface with the world isn't rigid. It's more fluid (or perhaps... gooey) and organic, which is part of the challenge.
