This is just such a simplistic game, I don't see why it's rated so highly.. and it costs $15 to top it off?! The combat is boring and repetitive. The gameplay doesn't seem to go anywhere special. For a game from 2020 this is unacceptable for me. The loop is literally "Here are some enemies, go chase them all and click with your mouse on them". "You finished it. Here is the next level.". What is preventing this game from allowing me to set it to 60 fps? Being capped at 30 for such a low pixel game where the camera is constantly moving hurts to look at. Super fun top down "shooter" (in quotes because no guns lol). The story is relatively simple, you're a time wizard and the local town got nuked so you gotta go find out why. Fair enough. The combat is fun and requires some thought. You need to utilize your different weapons aswell as your time-freeze to get through the levels. To anyone wanting to play this game but worried about the difficulty being too high: The "assisted mode" is a great way to play though all the content without being frustrated by particularly difficult levels. If you're not great at pure action game but still want to experience The Ambassador because you think the art style or time ability is awesome, don't worry there's a mode for you! This is, uh, good. It's fun enough, I got it through the Humble Bundle. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this, but it's enjoyable and you can tell they put some thought into this. Killing enemies becomes strangely satisfying after awhile as you pick one off with a spinning broadsword and turn around and throw a few homing magic missiles at the beasts behind you. There is good opportunity to switch up builds on the fly. My complaints? Here, let me tell you them. A lot of enemies you can…

Most of the game is decent, the time bubble ability is fun enough to overcome its glaring flaws. because it does have flaws. invincible enemies walk over to the only thing that hurts them and cover up the hitbox, the hunger mechanic is interesting but tedious to grind back up when you hit later levels. and in many cases you're basically dead if you're hit, because invincibility frames seem to be tied only to individual hitboxes, so 3 different shots hitting you at once instant-kills you. more…

A relaxing twin-stick shooter that was clearly made with a lot of passion Pros -There's some nice pixel art graphics at work here, that most of the time manages to stay easy to read (ie. you won't have a rough time dodging incoming bullets) -If you're new to the genre, this is a great way to start out, as baseline difficulty already isn't off the charts, but even beyond that you can go though in easy mode letting you just continue on death -The time stopping mechanic to me further strengthens…

After an hour played for my coverage of the Humble Choice January 2021: This is a twin-stick shooter where players play a mage and fight against waves of enemies. The art style on this game is unique, though I’m not really sold on it. You can see on the screen how it looks. There are also some interesting enemy designs but a majority of the game is fighting against the same enemies and remembering their patterns, like the ax soldier who swings in a giant circle, the sword guys need two hits…

I didn't enjoy the combat in this one and since that's the meat of the game I can't recommend it. Primary attack is a slow moving spinning projectile that you have to wait to return to fire again. The slow movement means that it can take a really long time to return especially if you're moving backwards to avoid damage. The projectile also has an unpredictable hitbox so it will sometimes miss things you're aiming at nearly dead on, or bounce off things you thought you were clear of. Secondary…

I can't really recommend this game unless on a steep discount (currently 80%, guess it's alright for a few dollars). Firstly, the controls are "OK" - some inconsistency with the trigger button behind held down vs having to spam it. Secondly the graphics are really mediocre for a modern game (from a design perspective, the models are missing shadows and so sometimes it's difficult to tell the enemies from the background). I like retro pixel art, but the characters and movement don't "pop".…

A game about controlling time shouldn’t feel like it’s wasting yours, yet every level drags out like an eternity. The time freeze mechanic sounds cool on paper, but in practice it’s just a glorified pause button slapped onto generic arena fights.

The Ambassador toys with some excellent concepts, but ultimately just needs more pixels (and a dollop of charm). You play a newly instated Ambassador. An entry level mage/wizard/sorcerer. This allows you throw and recall physical weapons, use a magical wand with a recharging mana-pool, and leverage the ability to stop time. This is a twin stick shooter and these mechanics are the crux of the game. After a short tutorial a sudden turn of events sees you facing arena's filled with monsters and…

I received this game from the developers to play on stream and review. My thoughts herein are not endorsed or paid for by the developers. I had a lot of fun with this game. The game trailer does the game a grave disservice. Yes, the later levels get incredibly chaotic, but the screaming antagonist in the voice-over of the trailer isn't like the story at all. I enjoyed this game a lot as a strategic RPG. It reminds me of the original Legend of Zelda with the twin-stick shooter mechanism of games like Enter the Gungeon and Assault Android Cactus. Each stage increases steadily toward bullet hell status and presents unique challenges you'll need to strategize through. The NPCs you'll encounter throughout your quest offer delightfully dry humor and encouragement cloaked in doom.

WHAT IS IT? It's a bullet hell game. Thematic element is fantasy and a bit of sci-fi. PROS: 1. Fast paced action. 2. Good soundtrack. CONS: 1. Terrible story/plot. 2. Frustrating levels (ie. not fun). 3. Controls don't feel fluid compared to using a mouse and keyboard. 4. Diverse item pool but largely useless as you'll be using just 3 or 4 of them most of the game out of the 30 or so. Not one to leave negative reviews but here we go: - Combat is neither fast-paced not interesting - There a new enemy types shown, that are then copy pasted in the same way over... and over... and over. Boring and uninspiring level design. Even the puzzles are reused endlessly. - Game feel is bad - The camera needs zooming out by at least 30%, you're so close you can barely focus on anything on screen and it all kind of merges together. This is partially down to the horribly 'reactive' camera…

I like twinstick games but this one is painfully medicore. I can't imagine playing it any farther than I did when I could just play something like Bleed. It has a couple of annoyances (ridiculously close field of view, lots of annoying hitbox issues with walls, very repetitive soundtrack, terrible font) but the overriding issue is it just doesn't do anything well enough to justify playing instead of another game.

The amount of weapons, magic and armor in the game that all changes up how you play in a zone and against a boss is insane. So many different ways to conquer an area or boss. Shout out to the developers of The Ambassador. They perfectly capture in my opinion the essence of imagining my old school D&D sessions with friends or an old RPG back from when I was younger. You begin as a newly appointed Ambassador of Time, which just as you just finish your coronation you witness the explosion of the capital Tamaris. This also decimates the ranks of the Ambassadors leaving you and your injured teacher as the only surviving members. The game play is action packed and draws…

The art feels clean, and everything is easy to identify. Once you grasp the concept of weapon throwing and time stopping it's a matter of mastering those skills in tandem as the levels become progressively challenging.
