What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 207 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Overwhelmingly Positive (2,468 of 2,551 positive).
Players describe it as a goofy yet creepy comedy horror game that blends humor and jump scares. [1][2][3] Some note its deep lore and Lovecraftian references, particularly to The King in Yellow. [4][5][6] A few reviewers criticize it for being too linear and repetitive, suggesting it would work better as a film. [7][8][9]

The Baby in Yellow I downloaded this thinking it was a chill babysitting sim. Ten minutes later I’m speed-running through vents, arguing with a demon toddler, and questioning every life choice I’ve ever made. The baby teleports more than a Destiny boss, the jump scares come out of nowhere, and I’ve never felt so disrespected by someone under three feet tall. 10/10 would get emotionally bullied by a possessed infant …

Very interesting to theorize about, especially due to its tight connections to the 3 stories it derives itself from Haïta the Shepherd by Ambrose Bierce, The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers, and The Whisperer in Darkness by H.P. Lovecraft. And for people who are in the know about Hastur, it is nice to find the references.

I was very, very suprised by how much I liked this. A goofy yet creepy game with lovecraftian elements sprinkled in. Completely unpredictable moment to moment that had me chuckling to myself as I'd throw the Baby in the oven and five minutes later deliver a completely terrifying chase sequence with creepy visuals. Also, can I just say that good work to whoever did the illustrations for the graphic novels in the …

This game was so much fun. Very goofy with some fun jump scares. I do like that it did not rely on jump scares to be spooky. It was a short game, 10/10 I recommend. I look forward to future updates.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My toddler daughter is obsessed with watching me play an indie horror game called The Baby In Yellow, which just goes to show that your children are never too young to learn about the Carcosa Mythos.
positive · AI labelView post →I become a father in 2026. This game prepared me excellent for the upcoming challenges.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Baby in Yellow, developed and published by Team Terrible, is a small but remarkably effective indie horror game that transforms the mundane act of babysitting into a surreal descent into the uncanny. What begins as a simple night of caring for an infant quickly spirals into a bizarre and nightmarish series of events that balance humor and horror in equal measure. The premise is immediately familiar—feed the baby, change its diaper, and put it to bed—but what makes the game so memorable is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first I thought this was about a baby that had jaundice and I had to look after it (this was a gift) 10 minutes in and I am needing intense therapy after being heavily bullied by a toodler. This game gets crazy REALLY fast and you NEED to think just as fast to survive! 10/10 Reccommend to anyone looking for a well done game with amazing graphics, lore and worth the price! Give it a shot and be patient for the first 10 minutes. IT KEEPS YOU HOOKED! ALSO NEWWWWT!!!!!!! :D

positive · AI labelView post →The art is great! But this is not a game. There are no choices, no meaningful interactions, no consequences to your actions. You just press buttons that it tells you to press. Completely linear railroad. Really, I don't understand why it's made into a game, it'd be much better as a short film. The only meaningful choice I've managed to make in an hour is not to keep "playing". I'd rather watch a letsplay.

neutral · AI labelView post →Interesting story line. I thought it would be more of a kids game but it turned out really good. I really liked fixing the robot and would have liked to have more things like that added but other than that it was great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This just in: Hit game "The Baby in Yellow" could possibly have derived small, unnoticable amounts of inspiration from "The King in Yellow"
neutral · AI labelView post →I really liked The Baby in Yellow—but I’ll be honest, going into it, I had questions. Like… it’s a babysitting game. How are you supposed to make that scary? Well. They figured it out. The game starts off feeling pretty goofy, almost harmless. You’re just doing normal babysitting tasks, nothing too crazy—and I actually think that works in its favor. Because when things do start to shift… you’re not ready for it. At all. The jumpscares hit way harder than you expect because the game lulls you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is called The Baby in Yellow and you simply must play it
positive · AI labelView post →aww you guys look at me being a babysitter n such. he seems friendly. Totally not a demon. It's my first horror game in a loooong time- the Baby in Yellow! #smallstreamer #indiegames #horrorgames
neutral · AI labelView post →I really enjoyed the game although my favourite moments were the mundane ones inbetween chase scenes and jumpscares where I was just a babysitter, looking after a very odd baby, I'd love to play a spin off of Act 4 that just... goes on, not repeating itself but calmly working there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game, really good depiction of the king in yellow.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the story elements of the game but am always heartbroken when my fave characters get hurt.

neutral · AI labelView post →I don’t normally play horror games, but The Baby In Yellow is such a well done game
positive · AI labelView post →If you want a game with a serious story this is not the game for you, I mean you could by the name of this game. This is also a great game, for those who want nightmare baby sitting simulator, because that's what this is, with a little bit of escape room on the side for funzies. 9/10 would run away from yellow baby again (jaundice baby D: )

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game REALLY exceeded my expectations! For the price, it's an absolute STEAL! 7.5/8 out of 10. Very fun, excellent quality, overall a MUST buy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think it's obvious, but this game is WAY TO LONG for what it offers. Like don't get me wrong, it has good elements to it's game play and some interesting lore. However, the game takes way too long to explain these concepts and it becomes repetitive after a good minute. I thought this was gonna be a 1 hour experience, but it slowly became 3 hours as it went on and on and on and on. So I'm not telling you it's the worst game in the world, but be ready for it to be way longer than you expect on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really fun, funny, and spooky comedy horror game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A ton of people came to hang out and it coincided with my doing the most novel horror game I've ever played. The Baby in Yellow has a lot more going on in it than I thought! Thank you to lexiology , gabrielleslays and squirrely_girly6 for raiding in! #twitch #smallstreamer
positive · AI labelView post →My final episode of The Baby in Yellow has been uploaded to YouTube! This was such a crazy game and I had the best time playing it! Any likes/shares appreciated ❤️ youtu.be/BIFHv6bm4Uk
positive · AI labelView post →49 The Baby in Yellow Video Game What if the baby you were babysitting was actually an Eldritch horror?! This game rules. I'm terrible at most video games and I had a blast as my babysitting stint got weirder and creepier. #100DaysofHorror
positive · AI labelView post →Indie studio Team Terrible is pulling in about £2m a year from its hit horror game The Baby in Yellow. Android and iOS are its most popular platforms, with PC a distant third: mobilegamer.biz/the-baby-in-...
neutral · AI labelView post →An interesting and fun horror game. I expected to just babysit a normal child, but I quickly realized this baby is definitely not normal. 😂
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game! It balances being both scary and funny very well! Really smooth mechanics and great visuals. The baby is both adorable and terrifying all the way to the end! Great job devs :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →threw the baby into the toilet then in the oven and then started to play
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good but SCARY! Do not play if you are prone to jumpscares! DO play if you love horror!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How to take care of a baby ❌ How to take care of a Demon baby ✔️ Has some good jumpscares despite also being a funny game, so I like the mix! And Newt, my beloved Newt, I had never been this fond of a robot before <3 I WANT ONE FOR MYSELF!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun to play, and the style is so aesthetic. Not just a game, but a work of art.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Baby in Yellow is 1000% worth spending 9$ on if you enjoy horror games. It's surprisingly got a deep lore for how generic the game looks, and pretty darn good voice acting. The puzzles were engaging but not difficult at all, and it had about 4-5 hours of gameplay which is solid for the price. 8/10

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was expecting this to be a stupid little joke game. i was BLOWN AWAY. The graphics are good, its a perfect mix of goofy and spooky, and the story goes SO DEEP???
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a wild trip. This is why I play indie horror, the plots are usually so much more than just jump scares or gore visuals. Go into it blind if you can. Enjoy babysitting and DON'T MAKE THE BABY MAD.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is fun but the new update to the baby looks really uncanny in my opinion his smile and frown look weird but its still a good game

neutral · AI labelView post →Next up @ Scottish Games Week is a genuinely interesting talk from Team Terrible about their surprise hit The Baby in Yellow - a game jam game that unexpectedly went viral.
neutral · AI labelView post →I really enjoyed the creepy atmosphere, the comedic elements, and the numerous references to The King in Yellow. The creativity behind the jumpscares was also a highlight, as they felt unique and added an interesting touch to the horror experience. However, I think the game occasionally leans a little into silliness, making it feel more like a comedy horror than a genuinely scary horror game. While the humour is enjoyable, it sometimes takes away from the tension and fear that the game could…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, this is the best Steam game i have ever purchased. The Graphics, the Art, and the Story are all perfect. I have probably done everything there is to do in this game. (this may be reflected by my play time...) I love how we learn so much more about the the king in each new act, plus they are getting bigger and better. I am kinda sad that there will only be one more Act, but i'm sure it will be the best one yet. (also how are people attracted to that yellow bird that has like 30…
