Players praise the game's humor, visuals, and voice acting, but many lament the cliffhanger ending and lack of a sequel. [1][2][3][4] Some reviewers find it a high-quality point-and-click adventure with engaging puzzles and a lengthy playtime. [1][5][4][6] A few players criticize the puzzles as illogical or tedious, and note technical issues like bugs and slow movement. [7][8][9][10]

It's the prettiest of the 3 games, but also the most tiring. The devs succeeded at puting the worst of adventure games puzzles into one. - Having to click things several times until you trigger a different response? Check. - Have something not produce a result until you do another thing completely unrelated? Check. - Time limited actions? Check. - Multiple back and forth? Check. - Illogical actions required? My favourite point and click of all time. I love the characters, the settings are varied and vibrant, and the puzzles are (almost) all a great time. The game is much longer than most point and click games which I have played in the past so get ready for around 15-20 hours of gameplay. My only criticism is that there is a cliffhanger ending, and the developers have stated that they do not intend to create a sequel to …

An enjoyable adventure with plenty of fun jokes. Silly and able to stand on its own, it is a good time for any point and click fan. I liked being able to play from multiple perspectives. Critics, per Wikipedia
The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 received positive reviews from critics. The game has a Metacritic score of 80/100. Game Revolution commented: "Is The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 worth getting? Definitely! Although it doesn't add much innovation to the series, this game offers a more complex and fine-tuned adventure than its predecessor." Hardcore Gamer: "If you love point and click adventures, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is everything you could possibly want and more. With stunning (and clever) graphics, a fully orchestrated soundtrack and top-notch voice acting, its production values are second to none, and it has writing chops to match." PC World called the puzzle design excellent but the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game lands definitivly on my "Top 10 Adventure games list" of all times - Great game!!! Classic style as point & click - great conversations, one funny clichee is haunting the next - nice voicing (german) of the chars, very nice story! Had very much fun - thanks for that and hopefully awaiting the follow-up... My personal rating: 8,5 / 10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We always liked the **Syberia** series alot. Aside from all the Lucas Arts classics, we also (very) enjoyed playing the following 90/2000 (style) adventures: - [The Broken Sword series](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_Sword) - [Broken Sword 2.5: The Return of the Templars](https://brokensword.fandom.com/wiki/Broken_Sword_2.5:_The_Return_of_the_Templars) | [Download free version](http://www.brokensword25.com/) - [Runaway: A Road…
neutral · AI labelView post →So you know the trope about Adventure games that for no reason the protagonist will pick up everything that isn't nailed down, and if it is nailed down, he'll find a hammer, pocket the nails, and then walk off with it? Yes, this is silly. BoUT 2 isn't like that. And as silly as the convention is, not following the form is worse. Why? Because now you need to remember where you saw a thing, remember what it was, think how it might be useful, and traipse back across 5 screens to see if you've…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hint: Press Space to see interactable objects, saves a lot of frustration. Hesitant recommend, since even though it is good, it's the weakest of the three titles in the series. Can't recommend playing it without having played the previous ones, either. + Good visuals + Nice audio/music + Likeable characters + Fully voice acted * Too many pop culture references for my liking, the world setting would be strong enough to stand on its' own * Sits in a weird spot where I can't recommend it to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played 'The Book of Unwritten Tales (1)" you will probably enjoy this sequel. It brings back all the main characters from the first game and introduces a few new ones. The textures and rigging are a little better than the first and the mechanics and walk paths are a little smoother but I still found that some of the walk paths (especially when you are switching between characters) are a little weird. You don't have to do any pixel hunting because you can highlight all items that you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the most wholesome and brilliant adventure games ever! And I know a thing or two about those. Not having the third part is one of the regrettable crimes of the modern humanity.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only nice thing I can say about the game is that I still like Wilbur’s story (so far. I haven't finished the game). I played the first one and he was my favorite in that one too. My complaint is with Ivo’s story. Who in their right mind could possibly think that this story is okay?!! Her depiction was irritating in the first one what with the bra and booty shorts, and the contrived romance, but this game takes it to a whole new horrific level. The fact that the stakes in her story…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the first game so much I jumped right into the second game and was devastated to see there wasn't a third game. I NEED a third game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story was better in the first one, here it picks up in the 2nd half of the game. Still enjoyable. 7/10.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its ok. a silly little point and click. I couldnt be bothered to play untill the end, the first one is much better, even though the character are pretty much the same. I dont know, its silly, but its bland, joke just didnt land for me. but its not bad.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →loved it i want number 3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun Point and Click Game. I hope it gets a sequel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Um well I played it and basically I was a bit underwhelmed by this the second instalment. Nice graphics but the theme seems to be all over the place. The ending was a bit naff leaving a lot of unanswered questions maybe paving the way for more. Really enjoyed the first one, the second not so much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great adventure game with a few bugs. Highly recommended. This developer as other great adventure games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The design and the atmosphere is nice but... this game gave me depression. I'm probably just too old for this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the first two games, so I was very excited to play this entry. Unfortunately, the game bugs at the end of chapter 1, making the game completely unplayable from there on. Having tried multiple things to try and fix it-including playing through the whole thing again to make sure it wasn't the save file that caused the problem-the game remains unplayable. Very sad, since I really enjoyed the game and story so far.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clearly among the best adventures. A really huge amount of gameplay, probalbly far more than 20 hours. Tons and tons of puzzles, even some nice and clever ones.. The graphics are even today (2020) good - at least for an adventure: 4k, beautiful textures - and please do not miss the easter egg in the library! Twists and turns, many locations - variety rules. The hotspot system and all the other important "technical" aspects are next to perfect. Yeah, you can count several flaws, even serious…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game so much. It literally breaks my hear that there isn't TBOUT 3 to continue this amazing saga. I would love to play it and would gladly kickstart it. It's perfection in the art style, humor, puzzles and voice acting. It is bittersweet to play, because I know there is not a resolution to this story. Please King Art revisit this wonderful series.

positive · AI labelView post →Very funny and enjoyable point and click adventure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game's artwork is great and the puzzles are well-designed. Nevertheless, the player enters into several strories that do not immediately connect, at least until the end of the story. This disorients the player for some time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderful point-and-click adventure. Maybe even the best kind: with sophisticated nerd humor and intriguing story-line. Beware: there is a cliffhanger in the end and still no third part of the game released. But don't let it stop you - the game is still worth it. Hope that someday there will be a next chapter of this great adventure!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love. This. ♥♥♥♥! This game is so hilariously funny! Also the story is great and the grafics are fantastic. You have to look seriously tho, not only to find every object you need, but also to find each and every little homage hidden in the backgrounds, words and actions. Play it! Enjoy it! Its worth it. <3

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't recommend this game even though I have enjoyed a lot of it. There are places that keep you from progressing if you do something in the wrong order!!!! This absolutely kills the game progression and there is NOTHING you can do at that point!! Too bad, it's otherwise a pretty fun game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sorry, I don't know how this game got such good reviews. It's just a bunch of talking. If that's your thing than this is your game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is absolutely amazing. Even better than the first one. I think it's so good that it becomes a bit hard to describe it and point out everything that it has to offer. I've had a blast playing every second of it. It is quite long, especially if you are an explorer kind of gamer, trying to find everything you can in the game. Heavily story-focused, with amazing puzzles that always felt just right difficulty and logic-wise, breathtakingly good voice-acting, awesome soundtrack, superb…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this silly game soo much, that I started to translate it into my native language. 57% done so far, I hope I can finish it this year. Point&Click treasure for me. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an interesting game with a pretty good story and some witty writing. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's a point & click game mixed with some light puzzle elements, probably similar to King's Quest. PROS + Fairly engaging story with some pretty witty and humorous dialogue + Voice acting is good + Puzzles are generally well done (although there are some moments where a connection doesn't really fit) + Unique and well designed setting, interesting cast of characters; game looks good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Adventure - P&C - Point&Click Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Extremely poor pacing. Tons of dialogue. Unclear puzzles. Walkthrough required. Slow progression. Very long run time to beat. Not worth the time investment even if you played the original.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best point and click adventures I've ever played. The story is great, you really get to know a character's personality and the riddles are not too easy. The soundtrack ist great, produces the right atmosphere. A lot of details can be found in this game, along with a lot of references to other games and films. Anyway, I would recommend to play the first game of The Book of Unwritten Tales first, so you can understand the story better (also a great game!).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found this game to be a bit boring, but I don't usually play point-and-click genre games. The graphical quality is great with some really top quality scenes and characters. I did find it to be glitchy, however; some parts of the story are impassable if you miss just one small, seemingly inconsequential item earlier in the game, with no way to go back and retrieve it. Could be good if you're willing to sit through (literally) hours of dialogue, but otherwise a bit dull.

positive · AI labelView post →The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a fantasy adventure game developed by KING Art Games and published by THQ Nordic. As the sequel to a beloved point-and-click series, it embraces the traditions of classic adventure gaming while presenting a larger world, improved production values, and an even stronger sense of humor. Set in the magical realm of Aventásia, the game blends epic fantasy storytelling with clever satire, creating an experience that appeals both to longtime adventure fans and players…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it, considering that the whole series was a big part of my childhood. I am still sad about the ending though and that there is no next game that concludes the story. I am very sad that Nate will apparently be suffering forever, lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve played a lot of very bad games over the years specifically just for achievements, and while a lot of them deserve to be here, not many of them are interesting, so I’ll refrain. Instead, I’ll throw in the most unsatisfied I’ve ever been with an ending: The Book of Unwritten Tales 2.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bug blocks the progress I can safely consider myself as a variety gamer, and sadly I do NOT recommend this game. Here is why, step-by-step: 1) Right off the bat game did not launch due to some incompatibility. I had to write to publisher to fix the issue, thankfully they were helpful. After installing some stuff game decided to run. 2) The game may be fun for some type of players but I got really bored during loooong and unending conversations. 3) There are many point-and-click games but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely adored this game (and the prequels). I wish I could play it again for the first time. I can't think of one negative thing about playing this game. I loved everything about it- the graphics, the voice acting, the humor...it actually made you care about the characters. ANIMATED characters, even! I can't say enough about this series.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →comfort game! super cute easter eggs too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent, long and varied point-and-click adventure game with excellent art, variety so you don't get bored, 'hard-enough' puzzles, clever / funny writing (such as when you use the wrong object on the wrong thing, which some games are extremely lazy about), and you play as multiple different characters. I didn't enjoy the opening area, but then I fell for the game fully until the end. Strongly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really good adventure game... :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →loved every second of it:)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Book of Unwritten Tales 1 and 2 are some of the only point-and-click adventure-games that managed to give me the same feeling, the lucasarts games did back in the 90ties. They are fun and funny, they are charming. The puzzles could have been a little more challenging, but for me the humour makes the journey absolutely worthwhile.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great basic point and click game, with a good story and funny dialogue.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun continuation of the Book of Unwritten Tales saga. Better than the first one. I played it in its original German and the voice acting is great. Looking forward to the third installment.
