The Cave
Directed by Bruce Hunt
After a group of biologists discovers a huge network of unexplored caves in Romania and, believing it to be an undisturbed eco-system that has produced a new species, they hire the best American team of underwater cave explorers in the world. While exploring deeper into the underwater caves, a rockslide blocks their exit, and they soon discover a larger carnivorous creature has added them to its food chain. From TMDB

It’s a simple toy but like the great playsets it’s a big face with a reverse interior, traps, treasures and simple but engaging play features. I’m ecstatic to have it again!

neutral · AI labelView post →For its anniversary, I revisited the 2000s creature-feature THE CAVE at @bloody-disgusting.com It's a case of style over script, but if you're looking for a glossy action-horror movie, this one is recommended. Pluses: the cast is hot and the monsters are well designed.
positive · AI labelView post →This exhibition, actually called The Sky In The Cave, is part of Oliver's broader Resonance: Cave work. This is a film that mixes shots of Font de Gaume, in which he spent weeks singing to find resonant areas, with the painting process that uses those frequencies to vibrate pigment on canvas.

neutral · AI labelView post →I'll also note that being on Netflix doesn't guarantee big audience - Ancient Apocalypse and the Cave of Bones film (on Homo naledi) both got much more attention than the Secrets of the Neanderthals doc, which while not 'perfect' was a decent BBC production with expert consultants (one being me)

Sir Patrick Moore, having watched too many B-movies filmed at Bronson Cave in LA*, nicknamed it The Cave Nebula. * like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Robot Monster, Invasion of the Star Creatures and even Star Trek.

neutral · AI labelView post →It was replaced with the much more well-recieved Pirates of the Caribbean game (pre-movie!), which made better use of the CAVE system. One player steered their ship through an open world "Caribbean" collecting treasure - the other players manned the light gun cannons!

Not amazing but it's a fun 90min, perfectly serviceable subterranean action horror with Lena Headey (so worth watching). letterboxd.com/film/the-cave/

negative · AI labelView post →It can even be a good movie and people can still be disappointed with some of the adaptation choices. The simplification of the Cave of the Cyclops has been included in multiple reviews. The choice to omit “nobody” is IMO a bad one. Others may disagree.

neutral · AI labelView post →I’m realizing I didn’t describe it right, there are no sex SCENES but there IS sex referenced, always described as “Durc relieved his needs“ and the description moves on since the clan of the Cave Bear doesn’t have any romantic notions of sex at all. But on film that would not come off the same lol

neutral · AI labelView post →I love this movie, like it’s incredible how distressing Just The Cave Exploration is before there’s any indication you ought to also be concerned about monsters
positive · AI labelView post →Movie #23- 'The Cave' (2005): Fairly standard cave monster movie, largely disappointing. I think the biggest issue for me was that the cave monsters seemed completely inconsistent and as generic as possible, which is *Criminal* considering this movie actually seems like it had a budget.
negative · AI labelView post →The main actor gives an intentionally wooden performance in a movie-length production of Plato's Allegory of the Cave.
neutral · AI labelView post →THE BIKINI CARWASH COMPANY is infinitely better than the book, I really appreciate how the film delves into the interiority of the main characters, the Aristotelian Allegory of the Cave has rarely been explored with such an emphasis on g-strings

neutral · AI labelView post →In Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, subjects are bound in darkness, mistaking shadows cast on the wall for reality. For Baudry, cinema replicates this illusion: the projected image stands in for the world, and the spectator takes this illusion as real. dariollinares.substack.com/p/what-is-ps...

positive · AI labelView post →I saw a meme being shared "What were the minion doing during WW2?" and people replied with "they were in the Cave after Napoleon", but with this movie, we learn there are other groups outside of Kevin's group. So there's a possibility some minion did help Hitler?

neutral · AI labelView post →Predictable B movie creature feature that doesn't get past budget restraints, a weak script and a lack of adequate direction. A bunch of divers and scientists try to map an undiscovered underwater cave in Romania, for reasons I have now forgotten, and get more than they bargained for when they encounter a new species of creatures dwelling within. The premise is well worn, but that doesn't mean it has nothing to offer to the genre. In theory at least. The film plods along with characters…
