46 of 46 · most liked firstThe Fly II (1989) Dir. Chris Walas – Often maligned when compared to 86 film, this sequel deserves a second look. Stoltz brings heart to the tragic son of Brundle’s legacy as science once again runs amok. Wet and gruesome with a surprisingly emotional core. The ending is better than you remember.🎞️📽️

Year 2, Day #146 "The Fly II" (Chris Walas/1989) Mostly pointless follow-up to Cronenberg's masterpiece. However the practical effects driven carnage towards the end of this one is worth the price of admission! Check it out.
positive · AI labelView post →Controversial opinion; while not as good as David Cronenberg's original, The Fly II is an effective sequel you won't forget; it's a shame there's no way to legally stream this in the UK in 2026. A miserable 24% RT rating, but I'm certifying this fresh; 3 out of 5 film-authority.com/2026/11/04/t...
neutral · AI labelView post →Just watched The Fly II (1989). I’ve heard a lot of (reservedly) positive things about this film lately. And I can see why it gets only tepid praise — it completely abandons the tone and gravitas of the first film, and becomes a cheesy B-monster movie. But it’s a REALLY GOOD cheesy B-monster movie!

neutral · AI labelView post →The Fly II is far from perfect, but when this goopy and gross film works, it's disgusting and pretty damn good. 🎥 boxd.it/6KOP3x 🎥 #Filmsky
positive · AI labelView post →Hold the fuck up, the second Ewok movie, BATTLE FOR ENDOR, is written by the dudes who wrote PITCH BLACK, THE FLY II, and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER. My expectations are Sky High now. #StarWars
neutral · AI labelView post →What horror movie will you always defend? I've defended plenty of horror movies on GenreVision (including XTRO!), but this defense double feature of SPECIES II & THE FLY II is an all-time favorite. I adore them both and I even like one of them more than its predecessor! #horrorsky 🎥📽️🎞️🎬
positive · AI labelView post →And now rewatching one of horror's most underrated sequels: The Fly II (1989)
positive · AI labelView post →It’s not a great movie, but that one particular scene in THE FLY II wrecked me emotionally in a way no other movie has. I saw it in the theater with my family and I cried hard, and I never publicly cried as a kid.
neutral · AI labelView post →First off, The Fly II. Obviously overshadowed by the first, but if this was a standalone film it'd be a crazy 80s classic. Some great gore and a pit-falling-out-of-your-stomach ending. A good time. That said, I'm mainly leading with this to annoy the crap out of @alexpaknadel.bsky.social.
positive · AI labelView post →Another bang-up edit by @travisnewton.bsky.social on this video about a movie we both deeply love and defend, THE FLY II. If you need a video made, you need to hit him up. 📽️🎬

neutral · AI labelView post →Movie number 5. With The Fly and then the remake yesterday I feel we've had too many insect themed films so far this month. So to mix it up a bit tonights horror is....The Fly II (89)
neutral · AI labelView post →I did one for THE FLY II back in the day with a big group of friends. I talked to all of the screenwriters who worked on the film and they gave me tons of stories, which I shared. Fox shut that shit down IMMEDIATELY and that commentary has never seen the light of day.
neutral · AI labelView post →I am not even gonna try to parse that ending like I would've done if I had checked this out in my video store clerk days in 2000. The movie was fun as shit and that's that. Oh and The Fly II director and FX ace Chris Walas got a special thanks. I wonder what for? #PsychoPartyBeach #FrightClub
positive · AI labelView post →From Sapulpa Daily Herald; Oklahoma - 10/12/1989 it's a spook house ad for movie world, it says Have a safe and Spooky Friday 13th, we have ALL FRIDAY 13th movies CHUD II 2 , The Visitors The Fly II 2 , Return of the Swamp Thing it has spooky ghosts 👻 on the ad and 1 tombstone
neutral · AI labelView post →The Fly II - MartinFly Underrated film. Compared to the first film? Yeah, it's inferior but it also went out to do its own thing unlike most horror sequels which just copies movie 1. #80smonster #thefly #theflyII #80s #monster

positive · AI labelView post →In my head, THE FLY II has always been the rare "American sequel to a Canadian film" but watching it for the first time in 3 decades, it actually looks and feels more Canadian than the original. (Also, the original original THE FLY was set in Montreal, so the entire franchise is canonically Canuck.)
neutral · AI labelView post →One last thing: The director duo went on to create the whole Pitch Black/Riddick thing and wrote the first movie, Pitch Black. But they also wrote a bunch of crappy sequels to famous movies The Fly II, The Birds II: Land's End, and The Stepford Husbands.
neutral · AI labelView post →So I'm new to Blue sky, this is a test post. I watch a lot of movies and shows, and usually post a lot about it. Here's what I've been watching lately. Love Bomb (2024): Didn't like it The Fly (1986): Heavy enjoyed it! The Fly II (1989): Basically the same movie. Will figure out and post more
neutral · AI labelView post →If it’s the entire collections I’m watching The Marx Brothers and trashing Bourne. If it’s just one movie I’m watching High Plains Drifter and throwing The Fly II straight in the bin.
negative · AI labelView post →Director Chris Walas previously had done makeup work for everything from THE FLY to NAKED LUNCH. This is his second and last feature film as director (the first being THE FLY II). #CultShelf
neutral · AI labelView post →We’re gonna get a sequel to the Flash movie where a plot point is that (insert young 80’s actor here) played Brundlefly Junior in THE FLY II because Eric Stoltz was doing the BACK TO THE FUTURE movies.
neutral · AI labelView post →What’s the saddest scene of all time in a movie, and why is it the dog scene in THE FLY II?
neutral · AI labelView post →Watching The Fly II 🪰 for the first time in thirty five[ish] years. I have to watch the first film through my fingers because I’m more grossed out by the stomach-churning effects now than when I was ten. That poor dog.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Fly II, An American Werewolf in Paris, any Terminator movie after the second, all of the Jurassic Park sequels, and way too many entries in horror franchises to list. I’d rather watch Highlander II than just about anything I listed here.
negative · AI labelView post →10. THE FLY II. Walas. 1989. From the telephone of Mel Brooks...the needless sequel instantly wilts in the shadow of the original, but detatched could pass as a gnarly standalone B-movie. Eric Stoltz stars Marty McBrundlefly. #31daysofhalloween #31daysofhorror #31daysofhorrormovies
neutral · AI labelView post →7 - The dog in The Fly II. Holy shit. I haven't seen that movie in a long time but that dog still lives in my head rent free.
neutral · AI labelView post →Poop. ;__; Hopefully they'll release just THE FLY on it's own at some point. THE FLY II disc was great! Chris Walas is pretty cool in the making of and the commentary track and very objective about the film and it's performance, and rightfully proud of it. It's a solid film and fulfills...
positive · AI labelView post →Found THE FLY II, which is a SCREAM! Factory release that I...did not know actually existed! O___O THE FLY II is a movie I have affection for because I saw it very young and it was very gruesome, though it is obviously a lesser movie than David Cronenberg's THE FLY.
neutral · AI labelView post →you know whats a good movie? THE FLY II.
positive · AI labelView post →187. The Fly II (1989) Another day, another movie with unsympathetic asshole scientists who wonder where they went wrong after continually breaking their subjects trust over and over. The practical effects are really good and live up to the original, -(1/2)
neutral · AI labelView post →Tonight's Horror Movie Pick: 'The Fly II' (1989) Dir. by Chris Walas Everyone knows the first, what did you think about the sequel? Personally i think it was a good one, Eric Stoltz did a superb job as Seth Brundle's son 'Martin', better than his Martin from 'Back to the Future' 😂 #IYKYK #Filmsky
positive · AI labelView post →Thoughts on the series as whole: The original film is an interesting concept but a bit dowdy. Cronenberg's remake expands on it and adds more science to it and really tightens up the script. I'd say both those are worth watching. But the only sequel maybe worth it is The Fly II.
positive · AI labelView post →#SPOOKATHONX FILM #9 The Fly II (1989) Finished up the whole series. Production value is good, decent make up. The final form doesn't hold a candle to Brundlefly though for VFX impressiveness. It's not a terrible sequel but it's doesn't capture the magic Cronenberg's had. 6/10
neutral · AI labelView post →I don’t consider the Fly II to be a good movie (despite having cool effects like its predecessor) but the dog scene still made me cry like a bitch
negative · AI labelView post →It's not a good movie but I did kind of like the twisted karma at the end of The Fly II

neutral · AI labelView post →PUMPKINHEAD has a secret weapon in Lance Henriksen, THE FLY II is a bad sequel* to a masterpiece but a good B-monster movie with a perfect lead actor. DISTRICT 9 is a good idea executed well.
neutral · AI labelView post →My review of The Fly II (1986). I'll say this for it, there definitely was some kind of fly-thing in there. www.partyapocalypse.com/movie-blog/t...
negative · AI labelView post →I should mention; THE FLY II; while definitely a lesser film than Cronenberg's transformative and innovative THE FLY; is a very competently made and well performed movie with a lot of neat ideas. It's not as bold or daring as Cronenberg's, but it expands on things in logical ways.
positive · AI labelView post →Man, I love SHOUT!/SCREAM! Factory releases. I just find all the back matter fascinating...even when the movie is considered a failure...EX. THE FLY II. It's far enough away now that they can get people to talk earnestly about the production, warts and all, and it paints an interesting picture.
