neutral · AI labelView post →finally watched The Furious last night (thanks to @kevinmkruse.bsky.social and everyone else who has been yelling about it) and holy hell the action in that movie is incredible, I was actually cackling during the final five man fight if you like martial arts movies you MUST see it immediately

neutral · AI labelView post →Just saw The Furious what a great kung fu film. It has domain expansion and yakuza style unconventional weapon fight scenes.
positive · AI labelView post →This movie is extremely bad, but bad in a way I forgive the Fast and the Furious franchise for being, so I wonder if the reason I can’t just let go and enjoy this shitty dinosaur movie is because we live in a world where the original Jurassic Park set the bar that Jurassic Park movies should be good
neutral · AI labelView post →letting myself be a little corny because this was the dopamine hit I needed today (i.e. Kenji Tanigaki sharing one of my letterboxd reviews of The Furious - plus about a thousand others, but STILL)
positive · AI labelView post →A few years ago, Kensuke Sonomura (action director of The Furious) and Ozawa made a hardboiled detective movie called Bad City. Ozawa bleached his hair and looks like an absolute monster.
neutral · AI labelView post →Sad that the bad air means I can’t stand outside and look wistfully at the skyline drinking a Corona like I’m Vin Diesel in a Fast and the Furious movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Furious is a bloody Hong Kong martial arts film that uses improvised weapons brilliantly. Chairs, tables, beer bottles, a decanter, barbed wire, bicycles. A huge guy uses an opponent's body as a pushbroom against other fighters. Hundreds of melons must've been stabbed & crushed in sound mixing.
positive · AI labelView post →Finally saw THE FURIOUS and that is some good stuff - anytime Yayan Ruhian is in a movie, you better watch it, pal
positive · AI labelView post →As you may have heard, THE FURIOUS (coming to American theaters this week) is a ten-star, 36-chamber, instant classic of imaginative violence. Maybe I should try not to overhype it, but I think if you like modern martial arts movies the artistry is undeniable.

neutral · AI labelView post →THE FURIOUS is opening this week in North America and it's the best action film of the year, no contest, so you should absolutely 100% see it.
positive · AI labelView post →Good vibes protocols: Fatal Termination is a 1990 Hong Kong movie that features perhaps the single most shocking stunt sequence ever. Okay, maybe "good vibes" is the wrong term. Anyway, this sequence directly inspired a similar stunt in The 2026 action film The Furious.

neutral · AI labelView post →Roger Corman owned the rights to the film title THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, and made a deal with Universal so he could use any of their stock footage for free after that. He kept the numbered sequel titles though, which is why none of TFATF movies are just TFATF2, 3, etc. and have odd names.

neutral · AI labelView post →There were things I enjoyed about THE FURIOUS, but in the final equation it was much less than the sum of its parts. A cold, sterile, off-putting film barely held together by its very strong action sequences and Yayan Ruhian's performance. www.patreon.com/scumbelievab...
neutral · AI labelView post →THE FURIOUS is the most 80s Hong Kong film since the 80s. Hilariously action-packed, goofy as heck, and gleefully violent. The climax, which is a jaw-dropping five-way fight, is beautifully exhausting.

I still think they should have went on with the second movie as planned but still don't get why they decided not to make the second movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →Just a reminder in the first Fast and the Furious movie they were ripping off DVD players in Honda Civics, in the ninth movie they went to space in a Pontiac Fiero. If that isn't JRPG progression I don't know what is.

positive · AI labelView post →This movie is sort of like if you made a clips reel of iconic, memetic scenes from previous Jurassic Park movies intercut with a Fast and the Furious movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →it occurs to me "superhero fatigue" was maybe a handy term for the homogenization of the blockbuster, like how even stuff like the Fast & the Furious or The Mummy felt basically indistinguishable from a superhero film

positive · AI labelView post →THE FURIOUS! I wanted this for @offscreenff.bsky.social (though it's not strictly an Offscreen kind of film) but it wasn't to be. Kidnapped kid = that's the plot. Trailer makes it look brutal, but MVP is fight choreography which you don't see that much of here: INCREDIBLE. Best since THE RAID!

neutral · AI labelView post →Kenji Tanigaki’s The Furious is astonishing. I’ve been desperate for a film that moves fight choreo forward and I can honestly say, I’ve never seen anything like the way bodies move, collide and stack atop one another in this. It’s like Kensuke Sonomura unearthed a new element.
