THE HAUNTING, with Claire Bloom and the marvelous Julie Harris, the original 1963 b/w film--not the execrable 1990s remake. What is a better or even comparable haunted house film? Directed by Robert Wise! The psychology, the photography!
positive · AI labelView post →The Haunting: released on this day in 1963. Still the best American haunted house movie.

neutral · AI labelView post →Currently watching The Haunting (1999) which is not a good film. Best things about it are the enormous and elaborate sets. Worst is the CGI. Lili Taylor is always really watchable, Catherine Zeta-Jones is pretty good casting for Theo, but Owen Wilson feels like he's dropped in from Scooby-Doo.

The film will be titled The Haunting Of Hotel Transylvania and will be released on October 5, 2027. I’m surprised they’re making another one, but I guess we’ll see how this turns out.

Its eerie cinematography and genuine expressions of terror from the cast is just totally perfection!!!

neutral · AI labelView post →6. The Haunting (1963). Simply the best haunted house movie ever made, in which a quartet of ghost researchers visit a house and it slowly and subtly preys on the weakest member of the group. Based on Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, also a classic.

neutral · AI labelView post →Last night's film was the quietly grim ghost story The Haunting of Julia, which feels in many ways like a companion piece to Don't Look Now. An understated, criminally overlooked film shot in wintery, late 70s London. Very much my cup of tea.
neutral · AI labelView post →2/2 Robert Wise’s 1963 THE HAUNTING might be the best US haunted house film. Based on Shirley Jackson’s THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, it’s as much a study in psychology as it about ghosts. Mike Flanagan used Jackson’s book for his own terrific 2018 mini-series.
positive · AI labelView post →Books to film. 📚=🎞️ The Haunting of Hill House (1959) by Shirley Jackson. Adapted to film twice as The Haunting, in 1963 and 1999. And a 2018 mini-series called The Haunting of Hill House. Jackson is a master of Gothic horror. Each adaptation is unique but worthwhile. 😱 #booksky #filmsky #horrorsky
