What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 253 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (646 of 887 positive).
Players praise the game's beautiful graphics and atmosphere. [1][2][3] Many find the puzzles frustrating or lacking logical clarity. [1][2][4] Some reviewers note improvements in the Definitive Edition. [5][6][7]

EDIT: The developers have said that we should "keep in mind" they are reworking the puzzles as we leave reviews. While it is wonderful they are addressing the issues, the review is for game as it actually *is*, not what the developer claims it might one day be. Once their rework is complete, I may reassess, but for now I stand by this review as an honest assessment of the game that I paid for at the time I paid for …

I wish I could give a mixed rating here. Graphically it's a gorgeous puzzle game again what Blue Brain Games delivers here. It's a setup for a new storyline that I look forward to continue (with House of Tesla II?) Many of the puzzles are very nicely done but there's also a huge problem that a lot of the puzzles suffer from: Not communicating the aim of the puzzle well enough. There were several occasions where I …

Need to give your brain a proper workout? Pick this up on next sale. The clever combination of real historical science and gorgeous, atmospheric mystery kept me glued to my screen. It runs flawlessly on max settings, looks incredibly sharp, and the puzzles hit that perfect sweet spot where they challenge you without ever feeling unfair, maybe sometimes easy. Highly recommended for any puzzle enthusiast!

I played through the House of Da Vinci series (as I'm a huge fan of The Room games) and loved them. This game when it came out, was admittedly jank. It was full of bugs, weird art design, the puzzles required huge leaps of logic that made absolutely no sense. It just felt wrong. I'm going to go on the record and say they are improving this game big time with these chapter reworks. I just decided to play through …

I have very mixed feelings about this game. On one hand, the art style is wonderful, and the puzzles feel unique and different from other games. On the other hand, the story is a bit confusing and honestly unnecessary, and while the puzzles are unique, they're very complicated and don't follow basic logic. I found myself relying on a guide more than I like to with puzzle games, simply because getting to the solution …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After completing the "House of Davinci" trilogy, I have been chomping at the bit to play, what I hoped would be an even better game play in the same universe. The game is a far cry from anything like the previous trilogy. lacks everything the first games had: interesting story, dark, mysterious setting, or puzzle complexity. If House of Davinci is Gucci, then House of Tesla is great value. I have not even finished the game but dread everytime I get in front of the screen to play it. For a game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As others have said, the puzzles are either boring, tedious, or convoluted; but more there isn't really a logical flow to them, often leaving you feeling like you're just guessing. Nothing in the environment or the puzzle itself leads to understanding. Even some of the hints are too obscure to be useful. A frustrating rather than satisfying experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd agree with other reviews on here that the game is pretty clunky to play, the process of left/right/double-clicks is messy and the chapters from 4 onwards just aren't complete or properly tested. The game play in chapter 4 is very scruffy and the puzzles make no real sense, chapter 5 is even worse, I found myself skipping endless puzzles of a similar type where you need to figure out keypresses in the right sequence. The cut-scenes are slow and add nothing to the story, especially the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the first title from this developer that I simply couldn’t push through. All the problems I’ve had with their earlier games feel amplified here: Pixel hunting disguised as puzzles. The 3D environments look great, but actually figuring out what you’re supposed to interact with often devolves into blindly clicking every tiny surface. The studio has had this issue since their earliest releases, and it still hasn’t been meaningfully addressed. A pointless “wireless power” mechanic. The…

While the game looks beautiful, and the idea of connecting electrical components wirelessly is interesting, i just don't want to go trough with some of the annoying puzzles (im stuck at rotary thing with 3 different colours to arrange and i just don't have the patience to arrange them). This game is better of as a video walkthrough. House of Da Vinci games were better.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the da Vinci games and I was eager to play this new game as soon as it came out. However it became a very frustrating experience. Some puzzles were accidentally solved by randomly pushing/turning objects without exactly knowing what just happened. Some parts were sheer pixel hunting. I just cannot recommend this game. I was glad I finished the game so I could uninstall it and never to play it again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The puzzles just aren't very fun. I played the entire Davinci series and loved it. i was really excited for this game, but its just not doing it for me. First off, I don't use hints. I'm not saying the puzzles are too hard. I'm just saying in general, they aren't very fun, and too often are annoying. By annoying I mean that I end up solving them without totally grasping what it is that I'm supposed to be doing, or sometimes the puzzle design seems to have no connection to the task you are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, the game still has some problems. Yes, the storry could be a bit more polished. Yes, the House of Da vinci was/is better. Yes, some puzzles are less of a puzzle and more of a "pixel hunt" or "guessing game". And yet I liked the game (still need to find the time to complete it though... work work...). Check a Demo and see if it clicks with you. If you think it is a bit pricy, wait for a possible discount. It would be great to have a star rating system to add to recommendation, to give a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing and liking all the House of Davinci games I was really looking forward to playing another puzzle game. Sadly, the House of Tesla was a huge disappointment. The game has barely any puzzles, or at least proper puzzles. Most of the time the game tells you exactly what to do next and the solutions to the puzzle is very obvious so you don't get any satisfaction from doing it. I had all forms of hints turned off from the start btw. The amount and length of the cutscenes paired with…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy doing escape room and puzzle games. This was a great game and this gaming company is good at making these games. It was shorter than I was expecting, since I'd played all the House of Da Vinci games, but the puzzles are just as enticing. The last chapter is my favorite since it's in a kids' room. The puzzles are on the toys all over the room.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somehow or another I trudged through and finally finished this disappointing waste of 14 hours and $23.42. What a disappointing mess after all the waiting and release delays. I'm glad it's over. Better luck next time BlueBrain. I cannot recommend this one. The DaVinci series, in stark contrast to this grueling effort, was terrific and left me wanting more. Tesla fails to electrify. Far too many of the puzzles have nothing to do with the Tesla theme and are super fiddly and frustrating. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd really like to rate this game unrecommended as at least half of the puzzles are not fun to play with. I gave it a recommended overall review ONLY because it has fairly contented in comparison to its price, especially in an era of overpriced indie games. I suggest to buy this game only after you have played other more rated titles in this genre (e.g. the room series) and want to play more. The designed playtime is probably 15 hrs using moderate hints, and could be 25 hrs+ without hints. This…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR; The game is slow, not in a calming way, just in a the game is designed that way. I refeunded the game, because no progression I made felt like I was clever or solved a puzzle I just interacted. Everything is so slow. Every movement takes forever, Cutscenes, do not progress even though nothing is happening and everything is said by the narrator. It is mostly waiting for movents and cutscenes to finish, while loosing interest. Often, puzzles are solved while I am waiting for cutscenes or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A beautifully crafted point and click puzzle game with a compelling Tesla-themed story. The graphics are top notch and the atmosphere draws you in, though I must admit the cutscenes feel a bit thin. Some puzzles get frustrating, but the skip option is a godsend. If you appreciate clever puzzles without the fluff then this game stands strong next to the Da Vinci games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished the game and unfortunately I have to leave a negative review for this one. There were many good parts, don't get me wrong. But the game is plagued by boring and tedious puzzles that often get frustrating. The last set of puzzles were the worst and I ended up brute forcing some of them. The last chapter was overall unsatisfying and just weird compared to the other chapters and the story suddenly falls off. I was enjoying learning about Tesla's life but I ended up learning I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Obviously those who played the Room , House of Davinci, Myst etc will be drawn hear. The scenes are extremely nice , the environment and the story are well put together. Some of the puzzles are very, very original but, and there is a huge but, some of the puzzles are just to difficult to fathom out without using the help system. And sometimes it really wasn't obvious as to what to do next.. There should always be a requirement to think about what you are doing but there needs to be a little…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is exactly the kind of puzzle game I enjoy no unnecessary action, just beautifully crafted environments full of clever mechanisms. I loved the Tesla theme, which gives the game its own identity, and manipulating electrical systems while uncovering the story kept me engaged the whole time. The production quality is excellent, and every chapter introduces fresh ideas instead of repeting itself.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bit disappointed with this one. I feel like a lot of time is spent on opening stuff or getting to actual puzzles. Like, opening doors, latches, moving handles, etc.. As for the actualy puzzles, most of them are absurdly easy. Some I even solved with two clicks just trying to figure out patterns or how to solve it. The cutscenes/memories are quite tedious and I ended up skipping them at some point. The odd thing is that there is quite a bit of scenery built for the game, so it kinda feels like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For anyone who fell in love with The House of Da Vinci - The House of Tesla is disappointing. I waited so long and was so excited to try it but since the beginning of the game it was just weird. It didn't have the same feel and flow like its predecessors. Some puzzles were really frustrating and impossible to figure out, others required some serious manual coordination that you would not expect from a touch and click game. The ghosts of the pasts stories in the beginning of each chapter were a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the rest of the Blue Brain games but my frustration levels are escalating with each puzzle in this one. The flashbacks are too lengthy and distracting and the puzzles are given unhelpful cues for the most part. I was really looking forward to this game and now I am at the point of giving up - especially as all the walkthroughs are out of date after each update. Update #1 - An additional 20 hours in and I am finding that maybe 10% is intuitive and I'm pretty much relying on hints and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First game from this dev that I couldn't bring myself to finish. Every issue I've had with the previous ones is exacerbated here: - Puzzles become hunt-the-pixel very fast. You need to click around the nice 3d models until you find the actual interact-able part. There are easy ways to solve this but the dev does not care apparently since this was more or less an issue from their first games - Wireless electricity ability for no reason. It's a gimmick that does not matter 90% of the time. And…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice and beatifull game, there is cool puzzles yes, but also just look to game vibe! I mean mystic atmosphere, sounds, story. Like it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ok, so I must admit, I don't get it, why are people complaining about this game, sure the puzzles can be complex, but mostly when I solved them I felt enlightened rather than annoyed, and the ending came as a huge shock to me, but it suggests more to come, anyway, I wont call it perfect, and it could definitely use some polishing, but it is a good game, not the same quality as house of da vinci, but definitely good enough to be a good game, 4.5 out of 5 stars.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game if you are more into thinking puzzles and not trying to shoot someone from a mile away throwing grenades everywhere like a headless chicken. My wife is a Neuro-physiotherapist she explained to me after watching "ME" trying to solve a problem in the game. neutral · AI labelView post →The graphics (apart from the people) are stunning and it's clear that a lot of research, imagination and hard work went into creating it. However, I found it a very frustrating game. There wasn't really an objective. I found myself constantly relying on the hint button to tell me what to focus on. Otherwise I would have just been wandering around aimlessly. I'd have preferred fewer puzzles and more storyline. It was such a relief when the skip button was introduced as a lot of the puzzles are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was hoping for something as satisfying as House Da Vinci. Puzzles are so vague, so many times, had no idea what was expected , even with the hints, or how to complete. Got this feeling during gameplay, that some of the puzzles had nothing to do with anything else in the area, kind of like tossed in for filler. Also got to wondering, if they designed this game for savants, instead of everyday folks. Have never had this kind of trouble figuring out what a puzzle was about, what was expected, or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dont play many puzzle games but I stumbled upon this one and since historic inventors are my guilty guilty pleasure I gave it a go and am enjoying it thus far :) Puzzles are cool and for people with less patience like myself there's a skip puzzle option (I try to not abuse it, but it's nice to know it's there). If you like puzzle games, you will surely like this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While fictional the historical elements of the game are very accurate. A great successor to the Da Vinci games!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me start off by saying that its a fun game...For Kids! But if you like to solve puzzles this game will kind of let you down. There were probably 3 puzzles that I had to think about. but non were head scratchers. I actually solved puzzles just by trying to figures out the patterns and stuff would open lol. The ending I thought was not very well put together and actually kinda dumb. But the game itself is Fun and easy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is buggy making you restart chapters. the graphics are good, its well thought out but the gameplay is not fun whatsoever. I do not recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some puzzles are so tedious it makes it into a total snooze-fest and don't really want to continue on.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The start of the game is good but halfway through the puzzles become so convoluted that I ended up keep using the hints. Even then the hints don't tell you everything you need to know on how to finish some of the puzzles and had to look it up online. I quit and uninstalled at chapter 4 because the game stopped being fun at that point. The door puzzle at the start of that chapter takes too long and the hints tell you what to set it too but the devices have 3 options and 2 look exactly the same…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Giving this a thumbs up because the atmosphere and visuals are beautiful and it's worth it on sale but as a huge fan of The Room and Da Vinci the puzzle logic in the later chapters got frustrating and abstract enough that I had to skip a few A solid 3/5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this on sale and even then it was not worth what little it cost. At least with The Room series, there was a continuity and outside-the-box thinking that linked one puzzle to the next. With this, it was just one random puzzle after another with little or no logic to connect them, and the game designers knew that. Otherwise they would not have provided a way to skip every puzzle. I can't remember enjoying deleting a game from my account as much as I did this one.

I can say the puzzles definitely entertain me, and the way everything ties into electricity has pleasantly surprised me more than once. I always look forward to the story flashbacks, and I only use hints when I truly can’t figure out what I’ve missed. I’m even playing it with an Xbox controller, and it works almost perfectly. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visually nice looking game with many interesting puzzles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having played all three DaVinci's, I find this game too dark. It's as if Blue Brain decided to skimp on the graphics. I'm hoping that once the power is on, I'll be able to see more than "my hand in front of my face".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love these types of games, and the previous works from Blue Brain, but unfortunately I did not enjoy this game. The puzzles are tedious and non-intuitive, and was stumped more than once because the game bugged out. It's a sign of trouble when the "Skip Puzzle" button is a relief and not a theft of gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played all the house of da vinci games on mobile, but for the house of tesla, I couldn't wait any longer, so I bit the bullet and bought it on PC. I'm glad I did. I was a bit worried after reading some mixed reviews, but I didn't need to be. I didn't expect the graphical quality to be this good, the attention to detail is what makes it really pop as you navigate through the chapters. I found the gameplay to be satisfying. I like how, within the first few minutes of the tutorial, you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played all of this studios games in the style, and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. They're amazing on Steam Deck, except for the lack of frequent saving, which is actually something that is somewhat resolved here. It still has zero save notifications or ability to reload at certain points though. My main reasons for not recommending this addition the studios games are the save issues still being an issue, controller support somehow being significantly restricted in this game, and a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a *bad* game, but it was definitely a bit of a let down after how incredible House of Da Vinci was. More often than not, the puzzles lacked the intuitiveness that the previous games had. I found myself having to use hints for some puzzles -- sometimes all hints available -- and still not understanding what I was supposed to be doing. There was also a lot of trial and error until something worked. And I'm someone who *loves* puzzle games, the trickier the better. Some of the levels felt…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tries to shoe horn a story into the gameplay. Yet there is not even a character. The movement is a weird move through preset screens. Boring overall. Who wants dry puzzles one after another may like it. But way boring comparing to likes of Agatha Christie - Poirot.

It's fun, but does have some very hit or miss puzzle design and unfortunately some weird performance issues on top of that. I also wasn't really into the story at all. 5.5/10 #IndieGames

neutral · AI labelView post →The Definitive Edition is a really nice upgrade. Everything feels more polished and the improved visuals make the atmosphere even better. The puzzles are stil the best part for me, with a good mix of looking around, experimenting and actually thinking about the solution. The flashbacks are also a nice touch and make me curious to see more of Tesla's story. Definitely enjoying this version so far.
