New Jersey teen Daniel LaRusso moves to Los Angeles with his mother, and soon strikes up a relationship with Ali. neutral · AI labelView post →Listen all I'm saying is if the King's Speech won the Academy Award for Best Picture, why didn't The Karate Kid? They're the same movie.
positive · AI labelView post →Still have one episode to go, but the way they’re ending Cobra Kai could not be more perfect. There is closure for a 40-year old movie that I didn’t know I needed, especially since I didn’t care THAT much about The Karate Kid in the first place. Fuck yes.

Supposedly inspired by the Kurosawa classic *Yojimbo* (and even makes an on-the-nose reference to it in the epilogue) but character-wise and intrigue-wise, not a patch on the original, or even [remakes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yojimbo#Legacy) like *A Fistful of Dollars* or *Last Man Standing*.…
neutral · AI labelView post →The first five minutes of “The Karate Kid Part II” are a recap of the first movie — not just dialogue like “Hey it sure was crazy when [etc]” but footage from the first movie, like Previouslies. This is the kind of storytelling efficiency that lets you get right back to cocaine
neutral · AI labelView post →This will sound strange, but I’ve been thinking about the plot of The Karate Kid 3 lately. I know, not the best movie. In it, the bad guy’s revenge is to get Danny to isolate himself, & then do actual harm to himself (“make his knuckles bleed”). Feels like what Putin & Trump are doing to America.

neutral · AI labelView post →TRIVIA: ‘Grizzly II: Revenge’ - originally titled ‘Grizzly II: The Concert’ - was filmed in 1983, but not “completed” until 2020. Charlie Sheen turned down the role of Daniel LaRusso in ‘The Karate Kid’ in order to be in this film. (IMDB) 🖤

negative · AI labelView post →Sometimes I see posts or articles about movie plot holes and a vast majority of them are not even plot holes. The Karate Kid winning with a head kick after they establish head kicks are illegal - plot hole The Shawshank redemption poster is not a plot hole. It’s not even really part of the plot.

neutral · AI labelView post →A reason why Roger Ebert was such a good critic--he could appreciate films for what they were. I once had an English professor who called "The Karate Kid" an abomination, and I remember arguing fruitlessly that his inability to engage the film on its level prevented him from seeing its greatness.

She phoned this evening and said " I just watched The Karate Kid, great movie."
