I hate to neg on a game too hard when it's apparent a small team put a lot of time and effort into it, but I found The Last Show of Mr. Chardish incredbily dull and lifeless. The primary thing to making a decent walking sim is that the walking part of the game is at least interesting. Some of the first person environments were pretty nice looking, but 75% of this game are the play "vignettes" which I honestly found …

This is a short walking sim (2 hours) that tells a story of a provincial theater director who... well, I won't spoil anything but let me just say it's a very good story that really engaged me from start to finish and left me in a very different mood than I started with. It's...decent. But what 'The Last Show of Mr. Chardish' aspires to be is *poignant*, like 'What Remains of Edith Finch'. It doesn't get there, or anywhere close, but it is a decent story of a flawed man told through decently clever metaphorical plays, with actually really good art direction and not-bad (but not great) voice acting. For the genre of story-focused walking simulators, it's above average but not a …

Are you looking for an emotional game with an interesting story, incredible soundtracks and decent voice acting while experiencing a game with artistic and sometimes surrealistic visual graphics? Then The Last Show of Mr. Chardish is for you. Not all games about battle royales/PVP, having impossible challenges during platforming/parkour games, etc. Story oriented games could be called a niche genre, mainly created to adults because of their deep thoughts. These games offer much lower playtime…

The Last Show of Mr. Chardish is a story with multiple layers and is made up of a central framework with 5 very distinct 'mini-adventures.' The sound track is enjoyable and the voice acting well done. The primary story is played from a first person perspective and is much like a walking simulator, exploring an old theater. You are Ella, an actress returning to your history at the request of Mr. Chardish (a person you worked closely with in your past). You walk through the ruins of the theater,…

I really like the idea, but the excecution is very flat. This game has a bit of an identity crisis. It wants to present a metaphorical, artistic narrative but then gets lost in incredibly basic and repetitive non puzzle-platforming. It's not gameplay focused, but still tries to have some gameplay, then doesn't deliver on the strong aesthetic presentation something like this would need to work. There is this neat brushstroke texture design style, but it starts and ends there. Evoking emotion…

I am changing my review to recommended since I was able to figure out how to finish Chapter 4 from another reviewer’s tips. So, let’s start over. This game has absolutely beautiful graphics and music and the voice acting was very well done. The gameplay changes with the different theater plays you explore in each chapter. Almost all of it…

The game tells the story of Ella. A distinguished actress who, after many years, returns to the run-down theater which she once ran with her close friend. It's a sentimental journey of sorts, reminiscing about their former friendship and the events that led to its demise. While the game is a rather interesting narrative and artistic experiment, in my opinion, it's also unfortunately a triumph of style over substance. From a promising story, it became just another tale of rage-induced…

"When you are on stage, even the light feels heavy." The Last Show of Mr. Chardish is a narrative-driven walking simulator with simple puzzle elements. And it was such a delight to play! We play as Ella, an aging actress who returns to an abandoned theater where she used to work with Robert Chardish, "a brilliant playright, actor and theater director". I really got sucked into the sturoy so much that I just kept playing. There is nothing bad to say about The Last Show of Mr. Chardish. It is a good puzzle game with a story for a good price. I was expecting more, it's cute yes and the story is interesting, but i was expecting much more out of it. the ending doesn't give much either. I can't even say that if you like puzzle it's the game for you, because only one chapter offers it, that one kept me awake , the other ones are just going from a to b. This is a pretty easy recommendation for those who enjoyed narrative games like Gone Home or What Remains of Edith Finch. The framing of the game is you, playing the actress Ella as she wanders through a dilapidated theater, reading notes, listening to audio logs and soaking up the atmosphere as you learn about the titular playwright. This is interrupted by third person adventure segments representing Chardish's plays. None of it is complicated, but the use of video game mechanics effectively…

Mini games are scattered about, which add the second perspective of the romantic partner and I guess add…

I'm giving this a thumbs up because it was quite different than other "walking simulator" type games I have played. Navigating through each of the plays was clever and the colorful visuals are appealing. The story is interesting... about relationships and how they change. This was an interesting and quirky experience. I liked the combination of two extremely different art styles and from first to third person gameplay. The art style for the third person part of the game is an acquired taste that I'm not a fan of but it can be overlooked. The story is creative and oddly poetic, but you only begin to understand the latter when you've come relatively far into the game. All in all, it was a decently fun experience. Its kind of a mixed bag; the art-style was hit or miss, some of it was really nice and other scenes a bit too messy for my taste. Its a bit too abstract and I would have liked more narrative. That being said the game-play what little there was, was enjoyable enough. Overall I would recommend it but just about. Its super short though so wait for a sale.

Pros: - Nice simple peaceful game - The story is very good and told quite well and creatively - The play sections are both unique in art and game play Cons: - Not a ton of challenge - It is a bit short - Without going for the extra content you will lose some impact-full story pieces I must say that sometimes it…

A beautiful game that I had to stop playing for a long time because it made me feel painful things from mistakes I'd made in my life.

Nice walking simulator. Beautiful art work for each act and the plays were interesting. I did have problems with the bird in flight part as my bird was not willing to fly well and crashed a lot into rocks and arches.

An interactive exploration without many puzzles, letting you walk all through both the present and the past. Would have been nice to know how many chapters (plays) there were in it, but definitely enjoyed the exploration.
