I've played dozens of mixed games, I almost always fall on one side of the positive/negative side. The Mound is the most deserving of a mixed rating out of any I've played The game's aesthetic and atmosphere is absolutely supreme. The death screen is horrifying and so deeply sets the weight of your failure. You're resigned to a fate worse than death. Monster designs are amazing, but it falls into that spot where it …

In it's current Quality of Lifeless state, I can't recommend this game right now for the price they are asking. There's a genuinely good game buried in The Mound. The jungle atmosphere is excellent, and co-op expeditions throw up moments you don't get anywhere else. No two runs land the same way. That's exactly why the state it launched in is so frustrating. Combat and movement are artificially slow The difficulty …

I tentatively recommend this game. This game has a lot of good to offer, but there are annoying things too. Things I like: - It's an extraction-game. Graphics and sound-design are above the standard for a modern-day game. It is absolutely gorgeous. - The ambience is …

I played the demo for over 30 hours and bought the full release, but I honestly found it painful to keep playing. I’m writing this as a warning for people who might approach this game the way I did. In the end, I simply cannot shake the feeling that I was misled. To be clear, if you examine every sentence on the store page carefully, there are no outright lies. But when those sentences are assembled into a single picture, they naturally describe a very different game from the one The Mound…

I cant recommend the title in the current state is in. If you have 3 friends and want to play for 5-8 hours in a single session, pick this up, its very good, but if you think you're gonna get some legs out of this title, Id look elsewhere. -------------------------------------------------- For the Devs -- spoilers for anyone buying the game. This game has a lot of potential but core gameplay loop is ruined with constant "hurry". You have no time to explore and look for things. You have to allways be running. Scares and "visions" and other stuff in the game is ruined a lot by this constant "hurry". There needs to be WAY more time to explore and look for things or even a way to remove time constraints from the missions. This is thing we agreed with my friends. Game would have been fun and we woulc have recomended if there was not…

Foreword Played with proximity voice chat. What it has: 4-player co-op Lovecraftian survival horror - or more aptly, adventure. Amazing graphics. A very pretty game to look at but severely lacking in variety. E.g. The jungle is lifelike visually but you'll spent 90% of your time only in that locale. After a few runs, you've kind of seen it all. True and heavy Lovecraftian atmosphere. Teamwork, coordination, and communication are not just an afterthought, they are needed to…

Pros: The Hook: The game's atmosphere and vibe are AMAZING. Such a good hook to make you want to play or check it out. The Mound it's intense and horrifying co-op adventure, which nails a lot of things like the atmosphere, sound design, world building, brutal combat and needs to work a few others. A lot of the complaints stem from misunderstanding the game, it's lovecraftian survival horror meant to make you feel helpless and anxious, you're supposed to play stealthy, pick your fights, and deal with the timer that ramps up difficulty since progression is through unlocks and contracts not infinite fighting or…

Their seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding about risk verses rewards in this game. Their is no Meaningful meta progression. The upgrades you can buy are for one mission only. and not worth the risk of extra looting. Your gear is predetermined for you. This leaves you feeling as you have no choice or agency. and makes the game feel unfinished.

Played with a friend and we both noticed that the optimization is pretty bad. Also for some reason the combat + movement of the players is way slower than the enemies movement + attacks. Also in the one hour we both played, both of us crashed twice. Specs attached, should easily run this game but whatever.

I first found this game through a TikTok showing off the insane delusions you'll experience. The game itself is very interesting, featuring incredible mechanics for co-op play. Obviously, there is room for improvement—such as fixing bugs reported by the community and refining gameplay. I think the main issue right now is optimization. If the developers want to build an active player base, they need to work on optimizing the game; right now, the optimization is quite poor. And considering the game's biggest strength is its co-op mode, not every player has a high-end PC—which is…

its pretty good. DO NOT Play the Prologue. Idk why you added it, it's such a goofy waste of time where you pick up a machete for no reason to do literally nothing.. but the game is pretty sick when it works. I believe this game SHOULD be EA but it's whatever. Hope they update it and fix bugs accordingly. The optimization could use a huge overall too. Even if you play solo like I have, anyone "dying too much" has a skill issue. it's not that crazy when you get the objective.

Predatory data collection policy. You have to create and account to opt out of data collection but there's not option to do so once you create one. The EULA in the game differs from the one on the store page.

I enjoyed the demo quite a bit and at a glance the full game seems to be rather what I expected, more of what was delivered. I'm normally not one for co-op focused games like this (Some use the term friendslop), but the premise is very unique and unlike most other games of this type it doesn't try to lean into a mix of silly and scary, instead just being a horror experience. You head into the jungle in search of treasure and artifacts of a civilization perhaps best left forgotten. There's a…

Deutsch Version drunter Sorry, but this game is far from finished. The optimization is poor—or simply nonexistent. It's almost impossible to run the game properly without DLSS. After playing for six hours with my crew, we were all left with one big question: WHAT'S THE POINT? You never really find out what's happening or why it's happening. The loot feels completely worthless. If you manage to extract, you earn coins to upgrade weapons that you'll probably lose in your next run anyway. You…

The game is extraordinarily promising. The scares are good, the atmosphere is tense, it really nails the Lovecraft feel in many ways. Unfortunately the netcode is abominable, my friends and I spent hours letting the game through firewalls, changing our DNS, running functions in CMD and so on and so forth. But nothing seemed to work, we could scarcely complete a mission without the server arbitrarily switching to single player and kicking other people out. We do not have this problem in…

(Info: Low playtime but a lot of hours during demo) This game is amazing when you understand how to play it, and very frustrating when you don't. People seem to have issues with understanding that you are not a fantasy hero hack and slashing his way through monsters. No, you are a weak human trespassing on a foreign supernatural land, and if you run and gun, hack and slash, you get destroyed and frustrated. The game is all about cooperation and slow paced tactical progressing. Go slow, don't…

If Phasmophobia, Assassin's Creed, and Darktide got together, and made an unholy baby, it would be this game. Hence the tentacled monsters in game! I really want to write some in depth prophetic sounding review about how this game is inspired by a great novella, and manages to do justice to many aspects of lovecraftian tales like no other game has done before. Solo is much harder, no real dificulty change between solo or co-op so you get swarmed. and the bot is no help at all. Gonna have to refund, might come back if it gets some updates.

While an interesting concept, the game itself currently seems to be in an incredibly unfinished state. Combat is janky, melee especially is horribly designed, item pickup or interaction angles are awkward and many in-game occurances such as team teleportation or enemies spawning from the ground and instantly harming a random victim seem to happen without warning and with no available ways to counter or avoid them. The terrain geometry makes navigating awful as every ankle-high prop or structure…

As many other people have mentioned: melee feels awful and clunky. It's just a painful experience, but I will try to be specific. Enemies barely recoil when hit. Weapons do not feel impactful. There is a blocking animation, but it does not appear to serve any function. If blocking does reduce damage, it is not commutated clearly. Voice chat is suppose to be a key feature here. However, it's one of the game's biggest weakness. The fall off from proximity voice chat is EXTREME. A player…

Game has amazing atmosphere with great audio and visuals carrying it, and the gameplay is solid with a decent loop that could be engaging if it weren't for this game's main flaw. Which, to me, is a complete lack of any progression narratively or mechanically. There were a couple of times we were genuinely confused as hell about what was going on. While at its core The Mound is a decent game, I cannot recommend it while it practices some devious and scummy pricing tactics. Pricing this game higher on Steam, where you offer a 20% discount, than on other stores purely to deceive people into purchasing is both immoral and illegal. Sure, it's quite buggy, could be better optimized... but once you get past all that, this is a one-of-a-kind atmospheric horror-exploration-looter game. Especially if you know your Lovecraft. The setting is what sets this apart from the other... lethalcompanylikes? This is NOT an action game in the style of Left 4 Dead or Vermintides. You're not going to take down hundreds of monsters. Your characters are hopelessly underpowered and malnourished. Your captain is a ♥♥♥♥. Your weapons will…

The premise and ambiance of this game was fun, and I really wanted to like it. However, this was purchased with the intention of primarily playing in multiplayer mode, which since the last patch, has become completely unusable even after extensive troubleshooting. We have only 4 hours of play time in, and can no longer proceed, which is unfortunate. Because of this, certainly can't recommend the $30 investment for a game where a primary method of play does not work at all.

The Mound is an interesting take on the whole "Friendslop" style of game that's actually quite enjoyable compared to a lot of them. I give it the friendslop tag because "You and (conveniently) 3 other friends delve into (dangerous) territory to bring back (relics and riches) to (make money) so you can (make quota)" I like to think of it as a kind of dungeon delver lethal company. Let me make this clear because none of y'all can think with your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heads. This is a rogue-like or rogue-lite…

The atmosphere for this game is top-notch. That jungle is terrifying. I wish the same for the ship though. For it's size, the AI crew is non-existent. It would add a whole lot more to have the ship populated with crew members. Some freaking out in their dialogue or just going about the ship.

This game is stuck between Faux Hardcore and Fun. In its current form, I find the game massively unbalanced. You make it off the island with $2,000, and you get $16, which is not enough to upgrade your weapons for your next run, but when you do make enough, you only get that upgrade for one run. The game also tells you you have 6hrs to complete the mission, which is not 6min IRL; just give me a damn IRL Time... just say 20 min. How hard is that? Saying 6 hrs removes me from the game…

Pretty good! It's not a horde shooter or a Left 4 Dead-like, it's more like GTFO. The gameplay is slower paced but has you on a clock so that every action you take feels very deliberate. Conflict needs to be avoided and good communication is stronger than the weapons you bring. It is a little rough around the edges in most regards. Performance is actually not bad for me, and I am exactly at the recommended specs for the game on the store page. Some gameplay tweaks will likely come in the…

Atmosphere 10/10. Yet, that is all there is atmosphere. Where is the game? At least allow countering. Tanking hits is NOT fun. Trailers make this game seem 100x more exciting than the game really is. No issues with latency and graphics though, that is nice.

The game was great for the first two missions, until you realise there is absolutely no reward and no personal progression. On top of that, the multiplayer is buggy as hell, making the experience highly frustrating. While it has a lot of potential and could eventually be a great game with some heavy improvements, it is currently way too expensive for such a terrible experience. On a positive note, the atmosphere, graphics, and core concept are excellent. Why ??.... Zero Reward: Mission…

There is gonna be some legit problems to consider but also some nonsense to be ignored. This is a slow-paced game with a admittedly too short of a time limit for expeditions. The scares are great and the mechanics legitimately make you question whether you are seeing an enemy or your friends. Its great. The game is truly hard though. You have to know that going in and don't expect it to be fast paced combat like other games. It is probably closer to the methodical nature of hunt showdown with…

My Cthulhu Experience: Wake up Spanish Aboard a boat I see the "Island" Load up with peak weapons being Match and Flintlock Guns Lament that I cannot face the horrors with a Blunderbuss Head out with my two friends, Baldy and Woman A steady decline into madness Witness zombies... debate if this is a new "Dead Island" game Debate ended quickly by the trees attacking us and an Alter that became a spiky pit Find many metal items that will look nice on a gift shop shelf Leave with the…

Having finished the main story of the game, I'm left a bit disappointed. The playability issues? Didn't matter. Clunky melee? Didn't matter. Cross-play issues? Didn't matter. Yes, they were ultimately annoying, but me and my friends were having a good enough time that it was the most forgettable part of my experience with this game. Admittedly, we're a bunch of nerd so what we really cared about was level design and lore. That being said, the experience of unlocking the map and lore slowly…

Deserves to be at atleast positive in reviews. The game is a breath of fresh air, it's unique and entertaining. The foundations of this game are as good as it can be, all it needs is a bit more polish and future content. On sale you'll be able to justify the buy.

The core concept of this game is really great, and it's definitely fun to play. I've been enjoying my time with it, and I can already see a lot of potential for the future. That said, there are a few things that need improvement. The optimization isn't great at the moment. I have to play with all the settings on Low to get decent performance, although I have to admit the game still looks surprisingly good even on the lowest graphics settings. Another thing that bothers me is the lack of…

Let me start by saying this game an amazing atmosphere, awesome premise and very interesting mechanics (hallucinations/world evolving and morphing for each player). All these together make a great base for a survival co-op game, but this game has glaring issues that make those positives hard to even enjoy. Let me start by saying if you're looking for a skill based survival horror co-op this game is not it. You have little to no control on what happens in this game to try and optimize your…

Its a little bare bones in the current state but the gameplay loop is fun and the challenge progression thus far is nice. Weapons all have their unique purpose. Hopping some new mission types and features get added. Maybe some longer expeditions and the ability to buy some better equipment than is provided from the same place you buy the tokens as you level up. (think for instance what if you could guarantee having a rapier in any mission at the cost of 15 coins per rapier. should not be…

it's really sad to see so many not recommended reviews ,it's not a perfect game but, i picked it up with my friends to play with no expectations except what the game said and it's does deliver the description, i really loved the atmosphere of the game really makes you scared and always makes second check with everything, really loved the new idea that it does, i think the devs did a really good job and would love to see updates to the game with new mission ,weapons and events. <3
