The Smurfs
Directed by Raja Gosnell
When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours -- in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down. From TMDB

neutral · AI labelView post →After seven years, the Smurfs are back on the big screen in a new film which really did surprise me but not for the reasons that I think the filmmakers wanted. It's a rough one, guys. Also, Rihanna is Smurfette. Anyway, here's my review of Smurfs.

negative · AI labelView post →Guess I'm the one that actually likes how the new Smurfs movie is going and am excited for it. Who knows, it's hard to tell exactly as The Smurfs have always struggled with their movies since of 2011 but I am really vibing well with it.

neutral · AI labelView post →there's two things I can say about the Smurfs in Sonic Rumble (Party?). the first is there was a Smurfs movie last year and Sonic Rumble's development was all over the place so this might just be picking up some pieces the second is oh my god it's a mobage crossover it doesn't mean jack shit

neutral · AI labelView post →Had a dream last night that they made a Gundam movie where Kamille Bidan comes to the real world. But it was like the Smurfs movies and Kamille was a horrible CG homunculus voiced by Zac Efron. He was with this guy played by Bill Murray and they had to find Tomino to stop a volcano erupting.

negative · AI labelView post →In The Hand of Dante is a Netflix honkers-bonkers fiasco for the ages, an oddball meta-movie starring Oscar Isaac, Al Pacino, Gal Gadot, John Malkovich and Jason Momoa. neutral · AI labelView post →Time to do a Smurfs movie rewatch before the 2025 film drops on Friday and surprisingly, I never really saw Magic Flute fully because the Smurfs themselves don't show up until the 35 minute mark and I didn't had the patience back then

negative · AI labelView post →In honor of the Smurfs movie no one cares about: I was told as a kid that the Smurfs were Belgian. I couldn’t conceive of the idea Europe was making contemporary media, so I assumed they were old folklore. My entire childhood I had a mental image of an old carving of the original Smurfs in my head.

neutral · AI labelView post →The other cinema I go go had more with The Smurfs movie than the poster through it's still there. With a standee that doesn't have any "Rihanna is Smurfette" anywhere which is surprising. Also, yes, that is me near Smurfette because why not? Having fun with it.
neutral · AI labelView post →In this film we got the privilege of introducing a whole new set of characters to the Smurfs universe; the Snooterpoots! I got the call to start exploring how their underground dwellings could look, as well as how we could present it in a fun way High res versions: www.jamesacastillo.com/smurfs

positive · AI labelView post →Genuine question, is the Smurfs IP just...cursed? Like, it feels cursed to permanently never have a good film adaptation no matter who's at the helm and no matter how much time passes. Even the more well-regarded one (Lost Village) is mainly just seen as "decent at best." I blame Sony.
negative · AI labelView post →There is a new Smurf movie where one of them says "I think I smurfed my pants" and I feel we gotta wrap it up with the Smurfs. I think we have wrung everything we can outta them.
negative · AI labelView post →Watched the new Smurfs trailer and why do studios think the Smurfs need to go to the real world? The film itself looks to be mostly animated so why do the tired portal trope? That was just a bad trailer and first impression all around. The animation looks good as well, but that’s it.

Here's the VHS box art:

negative · AI labelView post →Another movie, exactly. Inside Out is another, different movie, not this movie but another one, and nobody here has any idea what you think it has to do with a guy taking his kids to see The Smurfs. Like, Battleship Potemkin (1925) was also another movie. Thoughts?
neutral · AI labelView post →I just wanna add that for those who think it's bad or awful, that's fine with me. There's why I mentioned the Tom and Jerry 2021 defender because as much as i love The Smurfs and don't have as much issues with this film, i can understand yall feel that way
