Back in the 70s, a movie like THE STEPFORD WIVES was considered pure satire. At least, for those of us who could have, you know, social relationships. I never imagined that someone saw that movie and said, “That’s it! Let’s have THAT.”

Books to film 📚=🎞️ The Stepford Wives (1972) by Ira Levin was adapted to film in 1975 and 2004. The novel is more of a slow burn suspense feminist novel while the '75 film shifts to a male omniscient view. The '04 remake focuses on comedy & fear of technological subversion. 🙍‍♀️🤖🏡 #filmsky #booksky

I've been thinking about "The Stepford Wives" lately. In the film, a group of rich, privileged men were so angry at a changing world that they replaced those they blamed for the change with robots to serve their every whim w/o question. Those being replaced didn't notice until it was too late.

I think a lot about the Stepford Wives and how the original book and film it was clear the women were being killed an replaced with robots. That powerful, clever smart women by passively accepting the patriarchy in marrying these men, in letting them dictate their life they are killed and replaced.
