60 of 71 · most liked firstConsidering it was a ported PS version, it is understandable that it would somewhat difficult to play without a controller. It was probably the one time where I've actually had to print out the gameplay controls to get a handle on it. Pros: -Beautiful character sprites(animated) -No grammar or spelling mistakes -Good dialogue and good chemistry between characters -Romanceable characters -Interesting RPG mechanic -The game is divided into chapters, each serving almost like an anime episode…

From there on, you are introduced to several characters of the game who eventually battle it out with ghosts and then join the magazine as ghost hunters. This magazine isn’t all about articles, though. It has another money-making motive – ghost hunting for profit. Essentially, you are a Ghostbuster minus the proton pack and jumpsuit. Bill Murray would be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters would be an okay game if the controls weren't so thoroughly horrible. If you are going to buy this game, make sure you have a controller to play on, preferably an Xbox controller as those are the button prompts that show up in-game. Even then, there are a lot of hidden menus and sub-menus that are not discussed in the game or its manual (like how to talk to characters between missions) which you will need to discover to get the most out of the visual novel elements.

neutral · AI labelView post →Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters is a special role-playing game. Mixing in a visual novel style for its storytelling. Combat is engaging; but complex and crammed with confusing mechanics. Be warned—this game is very tough to learn and very specific. Which is the largest negative to be found. Not only are there so many variables you will have to learn just to get equipment or stats. But the daybreak edition of this game on steam has ramped up the difficulty enormously from its original release. If…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I ~love~ weird games. I love strategy games. I adore Ghostbusters. So Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters: Daybreak: Special Gigs is like I wished for a game just for me and the universe answered (the non-Special Gigs version isn't half as good)
positive · AI labelView post →Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak Special Gigs is one of those games where you try and try to find excuses for their faults, but at some point, these excuses just get smothered by the abysmal amount of issues. Honestly, the controls are the least of its problems, although they are genuinely awkward at first. It took me about an hour to get used to them, and I had no issues afterwards. If you're used to switching between platforms, your PS4/5 controllers and your friend's xbox controller,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, it's an okay game, but I believe that it's a bit overpriced for what it offers, because + the controls are very weird, but after a while you can get the hang of it + the battling and scenarios are repetitive, and get boring real fast + the "senses" options are very confusing, and I never know what to choose to not make things awkward Anyways, I got tired of this shiz real fast, and I'll forever ponder on why I spent 15 bucks on it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters is a port of a PS3 and Vita game. It is a visual novel, mixed in with a life simulator and a JRPG. As the main player, you end up falling into the role of a ghost hunter. While the description sounds interesting, it ends up being executed in a very poor fashion. To begin with, the emotions system used in this game is just terrible, it is a prompt based system that uses icons with no explanation on how it works, what the icons do or represent or what the outcome of…

neutral · AI labelView post →Let me begin this by saying this review does not mean the game itself as bad. Rather, this port is bad. And not bad in a horrible way, so let me explain, but before: TL/DR: Trashy port. Buy it if you can't play this game on a PSP, PS3 or anywhere else. So, for the details: I can't say that this game is good or bad since I did not play it for long (I asked for a refund). This game has been a perfect copy/paste of its original PSP version . What this means is that it is horrible to play it on a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Booted up Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs, the (to my knowledge) only other localized-in-English Shuhou Imai game other than Kowloon High-School Chronicle, and I'm pleased to report it is the same kind of insane
positive · AI labelView post →I think the art were OK, and the story seems interesting. But 1 point that make this game so bad is just there is no tutorial!! You go play the game and they gave you everything without tutorial, and it's a huge drawback for visual novel. For example, they only gave you an icon without telling you what this icon was and it's affecting the story, and one more thing, you can't save in the middle of the progress. If you curious, get it when it's on sale coz I just bought this for just 1$
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally, a visual novel you can actually play. Not perfect, especially if you're a content creator, but otherwise a large step up from boring, passive novels that don't care about player interaction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSgEPdiV_W0 Full thoughts here: http://www.noobfeed.com/reviews/1291/tokyo-twilight-ghost-hunters-daybreak-special-gigs-pc-review

neutral · AI labelView post →A hard one to review: summarizing, I had fun with it, and it is different enough to deserve a run. But "different" also includes an obscure interface and an unbalanced progression which requires lots of "grinding". So let's start talking about the interface: I actually enjoy learning a game's mechanics, and there is tons to learn here -- even the board minigame within the game is not clearly explained, but it was actually fun to figure out what was going on. But a few things are just plain…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not perfect, but damn if I don't love the character interactions, the customization, and the gameplay. Definitely deserves more than a piddling Mixed review.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so infuriating! I have no idea how play it. Nothing is explained, the controls are weird, answering to other characters in the story is completely nonsensical and I don't even know how to navigate in the office! How the hell do I continue playing?! Giving up I wanted to quit the game? How do you quit the game? There's no option within the game that I can see so I had to Ctrl+F4. What the hell man, how does any of this make any sense?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished this game in just over 30 hours. To play this, you must be an avid Visual Novel reader and turn-based strategy x board game lover in the first place. Anyone else would probably quit the second they saw how exactly the ghost hunting works. Let's start with the positives. The graphics and animations are the saving grace and best feature of this VN. The water paint art style is fantastic, the animation looks doubly fantastic (especially the blushing scenes, I would Love + Kiss you every…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let’s shoot the crimson sky, with guitars and stairway to heaven. 1 minute you got one last attempt towards your ghost target, you’ve got to close him out and finish the job. Yeah tactical fights are self explanatory with team management. Although it seems complex with all these items, skills, effects and stuff but more often than not, all you need is to consider ghost intention and how to get behind it. Don’t think about getting by without grind. No, No, No. All executions are time limited…

neutral · AI labelView post →Not much of a review as I didn't even finish the first fight, but still.. Very bad explanation of game mechanics (especially the Senses which I only know about due to the lackluster manual's controls explanation), uninteresting writing(maybe due to translation error, but as I cannot read Japanese so), and mixed feelings about the art. The character designs and the cutscenes have a real charm to them, but the background are fine at best, a stretched out mess at worst. And when I saw the Battle…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable trash. I have never controls this bad in a game ever, and it is a VN, I don't know how they managed the mess that up. It requires a gamepad basically because the Keyboard controls are impossible to figure out, I sweat they changed 4 times in the span of 3 minutes on me. There is no way to go to an option menu to see controls either. This game isn't worth a penny, only get it if you get it for free.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this on Psvita a long time ago Not the biggest fan of VN's but this game did surprised me. It's not gonna win any awards but overall it's a solid fun game to kill some time on if you have nothing to do.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stuck at first battle and give up on it. I don´t need confusing games with ♥♥♥♥ controls that don´t explain anything. You can´t even find a button the quit the game, i needed to alt-f4 it in the end which tells you everything about how ♥♥♥♥ this game is.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →we're back to Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs! I will never grow tired of the games name! positive · AI labelView post →I am still trying to play more visual novels and similar games, so this was defently different for me. I enjoyed the story for the most part, and the "strategy RPG" portion was a bit different but interesting. What was disappointing, and what gets my thumbs down, is the ending... it was just... bad
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →anime AND spooky ghost sometimes people? aw hell yea
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is absolutely beautiful. The art style, music, animationsv everything is awesome. I really love it. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this game at the moment because I can’t properly play it. I’m stuck in a “fighting role” section, and the screen does not display the entire map. Because of this, it’s impossible to progress. If this screen/map issue gets fixed, the game would definitely be amazing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game, so here are the pros and the cons: Pros: 1) Amazing visual art. Even Mifune, Hikime and Fukurai were cute. 2) Awesome rock/metal music, but we prefer the music WITH the singers. (ArcSys, I know that it's your doing, so stop excluding the singers. We love to hear them with the instruments, just like in the Intro (Cashell)) Cons: 1) Lack of control settings: You're forced to press certain scattered keyboard buttons, which makes the gaming a bit painful. Best to be played…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth it even at full price (which is currently $10). Controls are kinda weird, but they are easy to get used to. Enjoyable story and the gameplay isn't bad either. Only real negative thing I have to say about it that there aren't any consequences (as far as I could tell) to choosing the wrong options with the dialogue wheel thingy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →im goingto give this a positive review becasue overall i like it. that being said, i do wish it was more "scary". for a game centered on ghosts, it just isnt very spooky so to speak. thats my only real criticism.

positive · AI labelView post →I really wish this game was good but this is quite possibly the worst battle system I have ever seen in any RPG in my entire life. Like... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dude. I'm very into every part of this game but the combat is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrible. I wish that there was a mode that let you just play this as a visual novel. The battle system is like... imagine grid based DnD with simultaneous turns, and there's a turn limit. If you hit the turn limit you instantly lose. It's really just awful.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh I also forgot Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak
neutral · AI labelView post →game does not work in 4k monitors and does not have windowed mode or other video settings, awful port of a game just made for consoles with the bare minimum effort, also the combat scene is pretty barebones despite the visual novel part being so good
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just an fyi Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak edition is like $2 on Steam right now and this game is one of my hidden gem Favorites that absolutely no one ever talks about lol store.steampowered.com/app/425460/T...
positive · AI labelView post →I was requested this game as part of my stream, and purchased it on a deep sale! This is actually a really solid TRPG with some interesting mechanics and a lot of visual-novel esque interactions. You're fighting ghosts, in Tokyo, and usually near or at night! You help everyone from disgruntled businessmen to an Idol! If you're wanting to make the most out of it, it's gonna need multiple playthroughs or a guide, however. It's from the era of games where stuff is missable (like recruitable…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope! Aight so there's a niche old game that was redeemed for me to play called *deep breath* Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak Edition And you're ghost hunters in the game which is cool; but it also has a boardgame in the game called Hypernatural and it is ass-butts bad. owo
negative · AI labelView post →no, just no. the game literally introduces a mechanic early into the game that has ZERO explanation. The best way to describe it is that is is some sort of "perception" or "reaction" forced choice. it will show symbols that are meant to represent something, like one is a hear, one is a question mark, one i a crying eye, and one looks like a fist. I bumped into a girl and then some other ♥♥♥♥♥♥ stuckup girl showed up and started being a karen and the game was like "OK BRO, THIS IS WHAT YOU'VE…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No. No. No. No explanation, make no sense.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has its faults but certainly is a decent VN - Board game hybrid. Deserves better than a mixed review. Far too much grinding is needed at endgame, however, leading me to just Youtube the ending.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Ah! We don't even know each other enough yet for kissing... " I've played this game for like 10 minutes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i have no idea what i'm doing but it's interesting and nice to look at.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The mechanics of this game hopeless. No widow mode. Can only get half of the map on the ghost machine in the right side of screen , and no clear way how interpet what means what.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/5LsNhFedW_U Unintuitive UX makes a over the top surreal premise fail to maintain cohesion. Other stability issues plague the game with progress blocking issues.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not worth full price imo, get it when its on sale, aka through Humblebundle or Isthereanydeal.com Like everyone has stated, the controls take some time to get used to. remember to click the "Manual" on the store page, THATS WHERE THE CONTROLS ARE AT GUYS. FIRST PLACE I CHECKED. However, after playing a few hours, i realized that the gameplay itself, it requires quite alot of luck to predict the movements of the ghosts. High key i was tempted to make my main character lick the side…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I read the reviews already, but it's... beyond my expectation. The design and art is so pretty, prettier than I expected, might be even the prettiest VN I've ever played so far. And the gameplay is even more obtuse and confusing that I expected. But damn if it doesn't look cool though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally I liked it. It's a good length visual novel/rpg. Yeah, the controls are a bit weird, but you get used to it. don't be afraid to try everything you can in this game. there's hidden menus that are important to figure out if you want to get the most of this game. the emotion wheels are a bit weird as they depend on context as well, but it kind of simulates social awkwardness at the same time. kind of reminds me of the first persona game. overall, i think i'd recommend it. i have 36…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting tory with likeable cast of characters. You are a new student at Kurenai High School at Shinjuku, a real life district at Tokyo that has the high frequency of reported supernatural sighting. And of course, like an normal anime protagonist, you was draged into many supernatural mishaps by a mystery puplishing company, Gate Keeper. The story was divided into 13 "anime episodes", monster of the week format but got more plot related the further you go into the story, with each own…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →★★★☆☆ Picked this up cheap because it's directed by the Kowloon High-School Chronicle guy. I could definitely see the creative lineage and that charm still comes through, but only sometimes. Screams "PS Vita game" in a way substantially less charming than, say, Kunitsu-Gami. I didn't have a bad time but this one ain't gonna stick with me. Good UI touch: Trap setup hands Bad UI touch: That dialogue input system is incomprehensible, and I played Kowloon High-School Chronicle
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs isn't a perfect game, but it is IMO worth $2.50 for sure.
neutral · AI labelView post →41. Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs (2015) A waste of two weeks! The game is structured into 13 "episodes" with boring writing and next to no overarching plot. Worse still, the SRPG gameplay always makes a chore out of itself with how it demands you predict movement to get a hit.
negative · AI labelView post →The game is fun,Almost quite handy when playing it on pc,but im slowly used to this game,Its good for people who used to the game, but now ima take a break from the game, due to school
