What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 171 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (4,154 of 5,268 positive).
Players praise the graphics, audio, and realism but criticize the high cost of DLCs. [1][2][3] Many reviewers complain about performance issues like frame drops and stutters. [4][5] Some players feel the game is a repetitive cash grab with minimal improvements each year. [6][7][8]

I would find it hard to believe if there was anyone even remotely train-interested part of any decision making in the development of this game. The details are nice but the technical, visual and simulation difficulties make it really hard to enjoy. Game is dropping frames at an alarming rate on all of the maps I have played. On my system with "normal" graphics settings this is just unbelievable. I would guess …

(This review is based on the DLC and routes I own and played) I feel bad about this game, I love train simulators but THIS?. This should be considered a joke and a scam. First of all, it's one of those companies like EA, or ACTIVISION, that releases the same game every year, knowing that people will buy it regardless not modifying or improving a single thing. There are some routes/ addons that are worth buying and …

train sim world is great, i love it but why they're keep releasing the same thing with different titles over and over again?

Realistic trains, stunning routes, and immersive gameplay make this a must-play for rail fans. Minor bugs don’t derail the fun. Score: 🚆🌟 = 8/10

TSW have cool addons and games but ever since TSW3 came out its been pretty horrible as every addon is so expensive for no reason. With all the money your going to spend on the games and DLCS you can just buy a Hornby train set.. TSW2 and the classic one was so good but then tsw3 and after tsw3 the games became horrible repetitive expensive cash grabs If you pirate this game I really wont care as dovetail has to …

neutral · AI labelView post →Dumb cashgrab game, literally can only drive few trains and for everything elese you gotta pay even more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its good simulator plus accessible for everyone (not in price tho...) supports the LGBTQ+ community minus very buggy dlc prices are jokes

positive · AI labelView post →Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is behind a paywall, there is zero progression.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very badly optimized. I can run Cyberpunk 2077 at Best settings (including maximum ray tracing) but this game runs like trash on Ultra. Guided routes just take way too long and checkpoint system is super useless. Yes, return to last checkpoint actually spawns you at last stop that might have been a hour play time ago. Wow. Tutorial seems to be rushed, especially for the last training modules, even though it started very good. And that people praise that this game has so many DLCs is actually…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's not much to do besides tutorials unless you're willing to give an entire paycheck to this game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game but bro... dlcs and everything is too expencive Im NOT paying that much money for a dlc...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not worth it, they release a new one more often than not that you do actaully get some dlcs transferd but you still pay for the same game just slightly better looking, the dlcs also cost so much while having limited things to do
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay itself is very good but lags and stutters to the point where it is almost not even playable. i have tried with just about every setting i can including mods to combat the stutters but still no help.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it for £30. Liked it. Got bored. Bought more routes for £100. Got bored. Bought every DLC. Got bored. So it's pretty fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Studio cares nothing about the community that supports them. Unfortunately I found this out after it was to late for a refund. This is the worst train GAME on the market, and arguably the worst dev "studio". Beware.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →my autistic friends enjoy train spotting

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was on Train Sim World 4 before I got this game. Decided to get this so I would have the latest game/version. Not that long after I had the game, they announced or released Train Sim World 6. Train Sim World 4 had micro stutters/lag, this one does too. Game could still be fun, but I'd recommend you either get this game + it's dlc only when on discount. If I'd have to choose between this, plus any other Train Sim World game, or Train Simulator Classic, then I think I would actually prefer Train…

neutral · AI labelView post →Chock full of bugs - half the things that I do cause an unrecoverable state that is only helped by a full restart. No, it's not a skill issue. I've searched each and every issue and it's always the same - oh it's just a known issue. Devs just make a new game instead of fixing these. Funnily enough, even carrying half of them over. Don't support this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The trains run well and all that. Good physics, no complaints there. Been playing this game series for the last couple releases. Where the game fails for me is visuals. I want a pretty background to look at sometimes. Lets be honest, gets a little boring running a train sometimes and I want to look around. The background is disgustingly low effort graphics. And the DLC's are numerous and not cheap. I usually pick this title up on sale but I think Im done after this one. Lazy development.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so good, I don't see good reason to get v.6 (seems to be minimal improvements)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The DLC is Too expencive, Free roam just dosent allow free roaming, FALSE ADVAERTISING ON FREE ROAM BTW. Terrible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game stutters at low graphics settings; my PC can handle almost anything. I don't know why that happens.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I purchased a bunch of dlc for Train Sim World (tsw). I only buy dlc for tsw when its on sale, save a small fortune that way. Bonus savings if you can get one of the bundles on sale for double discount. I got £150 of dlc for about £55. Yeah dlc is super expensive for tsw but it doesn't go out of date and nor is it needed for a multiplayer mode so why rush? Been after the expansion pack for Germany and the Preston Route for ages. Train Sim World® 5: West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle…
positive · AI labelView post →very fun only if the dlcs didn't cost my organs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All Train Sim World versions I have had had been a jerky mess. Smoothness is nowhere to be found. The developers really need to look at Running Train to see a train sim should really perform. While you have lots of content, the jerky performance means I currently have no Train Sim World versions installed. Every update is a massive disappointment as not a single one of them brought any smoother performance. Modern simulators like MSFS and Running Train give smooth performance, why can't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →too good to be true, is a 1 of 1 replica of the real life railways and i never thought dutch trains were is it, 100% you have to buy this and its on a huge discount even the dlc aswell, untill jaurary 5 i already bought 2 dlcs and they are beutiful, 10/10 game and its recommended and its also my most played game and playd it for 92 hours, i will stream on this game too!!! thanks for looking and goodbye and happy new year to the EU
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so unoptimized that I can't even finish one scenario without my entire PC freezing to the point where I have to manually reboot it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Initially i liked the game, but lately all it does is crash, crash and crash. Contantly! Not recommened.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is definitely a train game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Realistic trains, stunning routes, and immersive gameplay make this a must-play for rail fans. Minor bugs don’t derail the fun. Score: 🚆🌟 = 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's frustrating that i have nothing but training center in the game w/o buying DLCs. Also in some missions trains are completely stuck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think Train Simulator Classic is better that TSW4, 5.. no wait... 6... or is it 7 now? Sorry, I can't keep up
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good. You could drive a real train after playing this for a few hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you like trains then this is the game for you and you don't need high specs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice but keeps bugging or doing random sh.t at the most random times idk how often I got through the map ground or else
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just crashed some trains for 30.8 hours (apparently) and it was pretty fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My pc cant handle it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This simulator has beautiful graphics and nice trrain running and switching. I would like more American routes and above all MORE way freights
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is good and everything but if you want to carry Passenger's you need extra Money just to carry Passenger with your favourite Train me Personaly got a Cargo Train wich is very old and boring, so i would recommend this game people who has money for this Game and Money for extra DLC's. (TRAIN SIM WORLD 5 PLS GIVE ME ICE BUNDEL🙏)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →too much price for dlc which are old
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No. I wouldnt. especially with 6's release. just wait for 7 or 8 to come out before considerinh. ON SALE. As every game is just a copy paste with more routes..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love trains, this game is perfect for you, I have so much fun driving trains and more stuff
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Graphics look real ugly even on high settings and nothing like the screenshots. I feel cheated.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game but it is littered with glitches. On custom scenarios when I open the doors the damn passengers won't load onto the train. And I subscribed to something and tried to subscribe to another thing but it said that I reached my limit so I unsubscribed to the other thing I downloaded and it still said I reached my max. It basically played me cold. You might be focused on TSW6 right now but please fix this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring. Please just go play Derail Valley. That is the best train Simulator by far. This game is nothing but a boring cash grab. You set the throttles to full and sit and do absolutely nothing. I wanted to see if i could overspeed the train but I grew to bored and did not wait to find out. And I played for like an hour or more... You can barely interact or manipulate any of the controls which is insanely boring. Its like you are just forced to just throttle forward and that is it. Its fun when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game. graphics are excellent!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me this was money wasted. It feels very low quality.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is okay. Not enough steam locomotives.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I read that the train sim world 6 has performance issues so I got this one instead. But omg this is probably equally bad. I have a pretty good setup and most games work flawlessly, but this game's performance is a joke. Did they hire their developer from mcdonalds or is it pure AI? the game is fun, but unless you have a monster rig you have to play it on lower graphics settings and for a game where the scenery is what you watch mostly when playing the graphics are pretty important
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Im autism and i love train
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game overall but can be pretty difficult especially with no assists on, no performance issues at all times with gtx 1070ti

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are looking for more DLC content for your TSW library, then it is well worth the money. If you are coming new to the game, then it is well worth the money. If you want to just get an update from any previous TSW game, then a free starter pack was for avaiable for anyone.
