I enjoyed FTL and had to give this one a try despite the other reviews mentioning the comparison issues. To start, it is a very pretty game that is fully functional, responsive and generally enjoyable if the type of game it is is something you like. The main issue I have with it is that it is very random and its randomness isn’t balanced in a way that allows you to deal with the issues the game will throw at you. …

Game is so unbalanced it's frustrating. Worst of all it's simple stuff to fix, but apparently, devs can't care less from what I see in the other reviews. Food is non-existent in this game it's unbelievable. You can find doomsday-level guns in stations, but a hamburger it's something apparently humanity quite couldn't figure out how to send to space. I played for like 4-5 hours trying to understand the reason why the game has so many negative comments. It's FTL in it's best, what's wrong with you people? But as I keep on playing I see the problem - it's the Campaign. You can't play the way you enjoyed in FTL until you complete it and that's really annoying because you are involved in the same situations over and over again. And if you can't pass them you'll …

For FTL lovers who have exhausted every conceivable ship combination and difficulty, this is the closest to an FTL 2 we're probably going to get, and that's not a bad thing. The game itself is a lot of fun, and after an hour or two of getting acclimated you'll find yourself in a familiar rhythm. It's REALLY pretty and there is a lot of variety to the weapons and drones, and the "crew abilities" that they've added …

It is very hard to top many things that FTL did right and made it such an experience. But nevertheless, Trigon: Space story did a good job to deliver. A solid FTL-like game, it basically is FTL just with better graphics, with a few additions, the standout ones are: Map is open, you can travel anywhere, even backtrack to previous locations More weapons, as well as different variants and rarities of each weapon Bombs and missiles have different types of ammo you can switch out mid combat for flexibility Crew gain skills as they level up, some of these are very powerful. Enemy crews also gets skills. Story campaign with 4 chapters, playing a…

Inevitably you will run into an enemy ship that is impossible to beat through no fault of yours. I ran into a ship that had 100% evasion every 10 seconds and shields that recharge faster than any of my weapons could do damage. Since progression is random and you can't save, it's not really a game but a failed simulation.

Fun game but the food system in this game is terrible. Food gets consumed very fast. Its hard to get food. Some battles that you win only gets you 1 food. So terrible. Most of your games is just starvation in the game. They should make it easier to get food. There's a bug sometimes where your weapons wont even shoot even though "autofire" is on and the weapons are fully charged, It's fun when your weapons aren't shooting.

One of the better FTL clones out there. Honestly, this game deserves more credit than it's gotten. Is it perfect? Not even remotely. If you try too hard to compare it to FTL, of course you'll go away unhappy; it has its own strengths. Unfortunately, many weapons are gated behind achievements, which does enhance progression but does also mean that early runs can be a bit bland. Still, some of the negative reviews are baffling examples of confirmation bias. Y'all do know that you can sell…

So this is an FTL (Faster Than Light) clone and I'll review it comparing it to FTL. One of the points where this game differs from FTL is that there is a campaign where you need to play with each of the four races to unlock free play. I liked the campaign for the variety it gives and that it forces you to adopt and try out the different gameplay styles. So far, I've reached chapter 4. The biggest difference with FTL is that crew members have a speciality from the start and that these…

Surprised to find out even 3 years after release, the games are still full of game breaking bugs. Here are bugs that I encountered: 1. Sometimes you cannot command your crew go into one specific room (like med room or sensor room) so accidentally if it is damaged I cannot repair it. 2. Sometimes weapon just not be able to lock on enemy ship (I know cloaking blocks you from locking). 3. Sometimes weapon tips in shop would show erroneous info like 2x the weapon reloading time. So I saw a lot of negative reviews about the RNG of this game, but I saw what was essentially very pretty FTL and had to give it a go. After playing for quite a while, trying the ships, trying the weapons and different combat types and strategies, there is only one thing I can say to those who are complaining about the 'impossible rng' : BUILD TO COUNTER THINGS If you think it's going to be a problem in that particular run, build to either outright counter the issue you're having (Which is…

Basically FTL with "better graphics" but worse gameplay. The combat is, at the same time, way too fast and way too slow. It's not the worst game I've played, but it could be so much better. The game is frustrating and confusing as ♥♥♥♥. There are almost no explanation nor tooltips to a lot of things, and the combat feels way too messy. I think they've made a lot of things more complicated than it should be, instead of focusing on things that could have been way more interesting. The game…

Main thoughts: - It's an FTL clone with nice graphics and visual effects. It does copy the majority of FTL mechanics, but also has a few additions and improvements. It ain't perfect, but it scratched my "FTL itch"; - Good replayability value, plenty of things to unlock. The achievements and gear unlocks are grindy though; - Many things that I hated in FTL were done differently in this game, and I appreciated that; - The story is meh. What I liked: - It's possible to play at your own pace,…

It's such a perfect core of a game that all sequels could really do was add to it. It's also connected to the Baraduke and Star Trigon games.

Pretty to look at but let down by the writing and in-game economy. You know how in FTL, maybe sector 2, you get a drop of a weapon pre-igniter, maybe a vulcan, and you excited but nervous that you gotta try hard to survive the early-game with such a strong item you hadn't seen in the last 10 runs? This game starts peppering you with those immediately and consistently. Not great replay value when each run, you can explore everything and have every upgrade/item possible in an hour or two. Weapon…

Even more than 2 years after release more than half of runs will probably be lost beause there is no food to be found and the crew will starve to death. Seems like a simple issue to be fixed, but unfortunatelly until now it is a major let down in a game that had such potential. I hope the developer would still fix this, otherwise it is simply not viable or fun to play.

Is it an FTL clone? yes. Is it a good game? meh. If you loved FTL as much as I did you will enjoy the combat of this game for the most part. But the food system is extremely cumbersome and just feels out of place. like i feel like the bounty system should be enough to prevent exploring to much without needing the food. 5/10. would be 7/10 if they get rid of the damn food.

Not recommended. You die permanently becouse of stupid things like food supply. You visit three(!) stations and none sells food. You fight dozens of enemy ships and don't get food as a reward. Your crew dies. You board an enemy ship? It jumps instantly away with your crew in it. This game is unbalanced. With more balancing it would be way more fun.

FTL but better I love FTL, i've bought alot of indie games because they were inspired by FLT. Until now no game has given me the same feels as FTL. But there are major improvements respective of FTL. While FTL (wisely due to limitations) always pushed you forward, with an armada at your back and a hopeless situation ahead, Trigon, although still having a sense of urgency, doesn't punish the player for exploring. Trigon encourages side quests and fun grinding, where other roguelikes punish…

Trigon: A Space Story was one of those games where the demo didn't do it enough credit. It was rough around the edges and way too overtuned and thus I passed on the full game on release. The game has an achievement-based system for unlocking the ships and weapons in the game itself. Its broken. After it was taking me forever to unlock certain ships I started paying closer attention, that’s when I noticed I was killing ships and doing tasks without getting credit for them. The game hasn’t been updated for over a year, I suspect these problems will never be fixed.

The storyline is EH, it's not clear if you're going to fight someone that is immensely strong vs your ship, if they have hundreds of hull points and it's early game you probably are not going to be able to fight them, but I don't think difficulty scales because some of these ships I was two shotting with blue weapons. There is also an issue where space stations will just have extremely limited resources, so while you have plenty of money, the stations will not have food or fuel. If you're looking for a modernized FTL-style game with pretty graphics, you got it here. The game is excellent. So excellent I got it again on this account to enjoy it while I travel. The long version is that this is at first a much more difficult game than FTL to get "good" at. The difficulty curve on this game is horrifically designed. You'll go from absolutely throttling every ship you encounter to suddenly getting hosed by a single opponent who has 50%+ evade, full weapons, and overpowered crew member abilities. Though this is nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little tuning. There's a reason that in FTL bonuses are very subdued. This game doesn't get that. The only thing I don't like is the awful grind needed to unlock all ships and equipment. I can only play the 4 ships unlocked in the campaign chapters because of the repetitive grind required. The core game play mechanics are pretty intuitive once you get the hang of them, and managing your crew and battle procedure is exciting and often satisfying. I feel pretty conflicted about this game. It looks nice, it gives you that "I want to play more FTL but with a new stuff" desire covered. Devs also expanded a lot of FTL mechanics like crew progression, weapon controls and scrap. What I don't like about this game is food and fuel scarsity when there is no reliable way of getting it. Note: I do not dislike food system cause it gives you additional reason for having AI crew. What I really hate is situations when your crew have 3 days of…

FTL but better graphics. Cool story and lots of replayability. You will struggle at first but then you will get used to the reward/potential of each jump. I highly recommend.

If you've read other reviews, you'll see a lot of comparisons to FTL and that this is an "FTL Clone". Now what you might not understand yet is they aren't kidding. Mechanics-wise this is a COPY and is 90% the same. Same subsystems, system hazards, similar racial archetypes, same gameplay. Taking another game's mechanics and iterating or adding a new twist is the basis for thousands of games. So does this game iterate? Or is it just an imitation? FTL is in my Top 3 Games I've Ever Played…

This game sucks compared to FTL. All they had to do was expand on the concept, but instead they added a bunch of tedious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like instant damage in no oxygen rooms and hunger. My god, hunger, what an absolutely atrocious concept for a game like this. If you've somehow never played FTL this game might seem alright, but it's inferior in almost every way.

Ultimately I recommend this game, on sale. + Make no mistake - this game is heavily inspired by the FTL genre + The soundtrack and visuals compliment game play very well + Story that unlocks as you play - Story is somewhat limited; I didn't find myself compelled to play more after finishing each campaign story - Balancing seems to be a common complaint, I have to agree - After playing for a few hours, events start feeling very familiar, feels lean in the content department

FTL but with better graphics, a lot easier, too. Great for half hour to an hour sessions.

Well, Its like FTL, but much much worse. Maybe I have something with my eyes, but the 3d graphics and effects are... overcomplicated and distracting. You really don't need that with this core gameplay. You should be reading everything quickly. It would be much better with a simpler design.

The bug people are unplayable. If you have FTL, just play that because this is a carbon copy ripoff. Even on easy, you regularly run head long into unbeatable brick walls, undamagable ships, etc.

Was really glad to receive this gift from a friend, being a big fan of FTL. That being said, comparing Trigon to FTL is like comparing 3D chess to Checkers, the complexity is off the charts, and the stories told through the campaigns are amazing. Was really glad for the easy mode, as normal was giving me so many struggles. I look forward to playing more!

Boyfriend and I have officially entered our board game era. We've been playing a lot of Scrabble and we tried Blokus Trigon, with Moonrollers on the way. Also, if you have any recommended board games fun for 2 player, I'd be interested in what you got.

I refunded this game because it doesn't support my native resolution. I was stuck using a stretched out 2560x1440@60 instead of the 3440x1440@144 that my system uses. I'll just tick to the original FTL which is a great game and the GOAT for a reason.
