Many players praise the art style and animations. [1][2][3] The game is widely criticized for being repetitive. [1][4][2][3] Hat Kid's inclusion is a major draw for some. [5][6][7][8]

Absolutely stunning art & animation. Some of the best I've seen in an indie game outside of cuphead. Unfortunately there are a number of missteps in its game design. - Battles don't feel varied enough, especially in the first area. You slowly wipe out hoards of the same few enemy types. - Each character starts out with the same incredibly dull set of moves. Unlocking enough for the game to feel like an actual beat …

Pros: Cool aesthetic design Has a Hat Kid in it somehow (Literally the reason i got the game tbh) More combo-focused-slasher-y than the usual beat'em up games Has coop Cons: Super grindy for what it is Gets boring and repetitive after literally an hour of gameplay Characters are not different enough, And they still manage to have an apparent diff in power level that serious that it is a problem Roguelite elements …

The original RPG. Played on a literal table. Dice, paper, friends, arguments. Everything else evolved from here. Examples: * Dungeons & Dragons * Pathfinder * Shadowrun **LARP / LARPG** – Live Action Role-Playing Game. The version where people physically dress as their characters and act things out in person. Foam weapons, costumes, fake…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the most mediocre game ever. its not bad and its not good, i cant recommend it but i cant discard it. its just an alright beat em up, the game is beautiful but the gameplay is somewhat repetitive, i give it a thumbs up because i dont necessarily regret buying and playing this game. 2.5/5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, especially since it has Hat Kid. The art style is eye catching, the game runs smooth, the combat feels impactful. Sadly the game just felt very repetitive to me. When you enter a new zone you see most of the enemies you're gonna be fighting in that zone within the first screen and it just repeats several times until you get to the boss. The enemies felt like they had too much health even after purchasing several upgrades. While the combat does feel good it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played a good amount but couldn't stand to do any more: the game is just beyond repetitive. The rooms are long and boring, enemy variety is minimal, the bosses become predictable. The ranking system makes sense but the pacing of the game is INCREDIBLY slow and there is very little in terms of interacting with rooms/environments. The art is beautiful but with so little else to work with I really can't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tunche is one of those games that is kinda fun at times but fails on so many levels that it can’t be recommended. Let me start with the fun parts, the game looks and sounds great. Figuring out the bosses for the first time is a lot of fun and learning your characters moves and how to combo effectively is enjoyable. The moment to moment gameplay is good and fast and you feel in control most of the time, you can cancel most moves to dodge for example. The enemy design is pretty good and varied,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute art style, but... the game gets boring quickly due to the 'arenas' they have set up. Beat everything up, get a little reward, move on to the next 'arena'. The fighting really needed to be more robust and fun since that's all you seem to do in this game; arena fights.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will give them the $11.58AUD(special price) for the hand drawn artwork and the effort for the game. After two hours, it gets pretty boring and tedious smashing the X button a million times and because it is a 3 hit combo, some characters do this much damage in the 3 hits... Starting off with the first being 3 damage, then 4 damage and 5 damage... Yes you can knock the enemies in the air, when they drop, go behind them and do crit damage which just multiply's your hits by 2 so instead of 3,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Good: -excellent presentation -fluid combat -easy to learn and pick up -has steam's "remote play together" The Bad -you have to repeat the same level 10 times before going to the boss and next zone (as a rogue like, this gets annoyingly repetitive and feels old after the third time or so) -you have to buy simple actions like jump attack, this makes the beginning of the game feel lacking and grindy -the combinations of the first 2 issues make people want to drop the game quickly Having…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite the bugs, repetitive combat and content, the main reason I cannot recommend this game is the fact that they lock what little story there is behind horrible RNG room spawns. Less than 1% of players have seen the entire story of this relatively short game because the RNG grind is simply unbearable. Why they decided to present the story in this manner is mind boggling. Turns a 10 hour game at most into a 30 hour slog. Other than that it's like a mini Castle Crashers disguised as a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't regret buying and playing this game, but its hard to recommend because of a lot of haphazard design decisions. A lot of the reviews talk about how repetitive this game is, and they're completely accurate. And it is not just because its a beat 'em up so obviously you're going to be fighting the same enemies a lot. Playing Final Fight 10 times in a row is less repetitive than beating this game once. Every area in the game outwears its welcome halfway though them. You'll be fighting the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I fell asleep at the same time as my boyfriend. the stage design is boring and boring. there are repeated stages and repeated monsters. the monsters are all bullet sponges. the stages are also super long. the characters look so cute and feel good, but the game is not fun. Anyway, it is not fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Random thought but I really like the idea of Hat Kid being semiverbal I remember seeing a very sweet thread on twt a long time ago talking about her portrayal in Tunche and how she didn't really speak at all in that game and it got me thinking about how she acts in AHiT itself
neutral · AI labelView post →The only thing that does not get boring about this game is the perfect diaologue we are getting from Hat Kid! "(●´ω`●)"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very repetitive. I understand roguelike games are repetitive in general, but this game artificially lengthens game time by forcing you to die or "give up" so you can buy your upgrades at the starting camp. After which you have to start over from level 1, defeating each enemy and each boss again until you reach and kill the final boss. Want increased HP? Better combat moves? Carry more potions? Gotta start over first. Nayra is cute though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looked Good, But Falls Flat On Its Face If you've played Scott Pilgrim, you might remember how clunky and kind of repetitive it was. Tunche is very similar, except managed to be worse. And it's sad, because I really did want to like it. Here's what's holding it back: Unlike Scott Pilgrim, you don't upgrade your move set by simply levelling up while playing. Instead, you must wait until after the run to upgrade your character, so get used to mashing the ♥♥♥♥ out of your X button You also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tunche is not the game you would expect from looking at the screenshots. It's actually more of an arena fighter where you choose your next rewards before getting a new wave of enemies. It's also not a roguelike at all, despite what the description says. Now with that cleared up, how is the game ? The presentation is definitely one of its strong suits. The game looks great, the animations are nice and fluid and the menus are clear. I found the combat, which is at the heart of the gameplay,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-Repetitive and a grind -Best part the art work
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the combat and the art style, but the repetitiveness of each room makes this game almost impossible to play. It gets so boring after about 30 minutes because every single room is almost exactly the same. Each area has a handful of different enemies, and you will probably encounter almost all of them in the first room you enter in that area. The power-ups you get when advancing further seem like they serve no function, as they are only enabled when you have an A-rank combo or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Right now I can't recommend Tunche for a single reason: scrolling in this game IS A NIGHTMARE!!! I cannot even get to the settings I want or the things I want in the skill tree. It's so ridiculously fast. Fix it so that using the d-pad let's us scroll one at a time. PLEASE!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember back in the day when Castle Crashers came out and it re-introduced me to my love of the beat ‘em up. I’ve lost plenty of quarters even further back, supplying as many lives as I could run through to beat an arcade’s campaign in one after-dinner romp at whichever restaurant my family was at. This genre has a lot of good memories, so when I see a new title, I immediately get excited. Come on Tunche, don’t fail me now. Deep in the heart of the Amazon lies a troubling foe, as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although I only played the game for 2 hours and I've only beaten the first boss, I could safely say that this game is great because pulling off a combo feels rewarding and I feel like the grind makes you become very satisfied in the end. Overall the game is super good 10/10 from me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Score: ★☆☆☆☆ Played on Steam Deck: Yes Tags: Beat ’Em Up, Roguelite, Hand-Drawn Game Review: Tunche is the perfect example of squandered potential. It is a gorgeous, hand-drawn shell masking one of the most frustratingly amateurish brawlers in recent memory. It dazzles with Peruvian folklore and jaw-dropping art direction, only to collapse the moment you press a button. Movement feels sluggish and disconnected, attacks lack weight, and every encounter becomes a guessing game of bad hit…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game, but man, it gets repetitive really fast As many have said, even if the art is good is not enough to save the rest of the aspects game, such as: -Both the gameplay loop and the music gets repetitive really fast -Characters only have minors differences between each other -Requires you to grind -The Roguelike elements are very bare bones -Some animations and character designs are... "Weird" -Leo breaks the fourth wall because "haha funny" There's this one part of the game in…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After Spending 41 Hrs playing and fulling completing this game i would say that this is worth the buy, The game has its flaws it isn't the most re-playable game in the world, unlike other Rougelikes in it's genre like Hades, nuclear throne and the likes. But there is enough to properly sink your teeth in and actually enjoy whilst playing. Fully achievement completion wise it was a slog, getting all of the lore books is really tedious and boring, its rng based so playing with friends and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a great beat em up. Especially in co op. They lock you in a very small area and you fight waves of samey enemies. Then you fight a hard boss. The worst part is it's hard to revive your friends so they end up sitting and watching mostly.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is centered around a jungle filled with supernatural creatures, and players can choose from a variety of characters with unique abilities to fight through the levels. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's replayability is poor for a roguelike, keep in mind I didn't play this much but I went through the basics and stuff fast. It got boring pretty quick because of the same enemy spawns, the terrain wasn't creative at all, it was like Castle Crashers if Castle Crashers only resided in one area of the game where u had to fight the same type of enemies over and over again. There weren't really any mind-blowing things about this game, no synergies, the spells were pretty meh, the powerups you get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🍃 This game really does look charming, especially the characters. The further you play, the easier it gets, and that's not about lvling (especially if you've played beat 'em ups). Invest resources in health-related stats & skills, and it can be completed in under ten runs (even if you're bad at the local DMC combos). There are only four worlds, the bosses are decent, but easy. However, there's a lot of replayability, as the five characters are leveled up separately, and you can unlock lore…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a mixed bag. No hate towards the devs but it isn't worth 20 bucks. The art is nice, as many others said and I think so too. However Everything else is mediocre. As someone who mainly plays games for the story this game fails to grab your attention. The way the dialogue system is made is the reason for me. the text just fades in and out. That's it. There are also special moments where the game uses comic book slideshows for important story moments for the characters. Their…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think most of the people (including me) bought the game because Hat Kit but don't fall into the trap. I like the art style but the game is so boring. Fights aren't exciting, the combats are too repetitively and most of the soundtrack is too calm for a fighting game. The story is also boring, not because of the story itself, but because of that awkward silence. They should have added voices or at least distinctive sound effects for each character during their dialogues. It feels like an…

neutral · AI labelView post →The drawings are really good, however; it fails at game design. I do not understand why this game is a mix of 2D and 3D and why there are loading screens between the rooms. The game is just felt off because of these. Also, the combat and the overall gameplay are boring.
