While I really enjoyed this game, $20 for 3.9 hrs of gameplay is ridiculous. Wait until it is super cheap.

i very much do recommend this game HOWEVER... it is not worth the full price. buy it on sale for at least 50% off. then, it's worth it. it only takes about 4-5 hours to beat the game entirely (could be even less if you were really quick). don't get me wrong, it's a great few hours. it's very calming and relaxing and has a beautiful story told in a unique way. but i can't say it's worth a whole $20 considering how …

Oh how dare he not let me hang up my certificate on the wall ! Never thought a game without a single line of dialogue could make me so emotional! 10/10 story and gameplay <3

I got this game as a part of a multi-cozy game pack. I liked the idea of unpacking someone's stuff and organizing their life. Low stakes, no pressure. What caught me off guard was the subtle story telling in this game. It really hit me in the feels a few times. Watching someone's life evolve from childhood to adulthood just through their items and their surroundings. Seeing what they keep bringing forward each move, …

Made me cry a little. very cute sorting / putting things away - great for someone like me who likes to have everything in its place, haha. The hidden achievements were fun to grab. The story is so sweet and following her along as she moves around made me nostalgic in a way. Very cute game would definitely recommend for a cozy evening.

Thank you all for the kind words about the game, silly jokes, and opinions on just how many chicken plushies one should own 💜 To remember where we came from, here are some early design sketches & mockups for you all to enjoy:

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game but way to expensive for the amount of gameplay. Needs more levels. Bit of a rip off to be honest.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really short game, not worth 19.99 eur for only 4 hours of gameplay. Really cozy otherwise but not worth the money do not recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only buy if it's on sale for less than 10$. Extremely short game, beat the game plus got all the achievements in just about 3 hours. Not a bad game just not worth it for how little substance there is.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tonight I played the cozy game Unpacking and I am now filled with rage. if a woman moves in with you make room for her things!!! 😤
negative · AI labelView post →Hi @news.abc.net.au Good to see an article about game development, but the assertion "There's not a games industry [in Queensland]" is utter nonsense. Well respected indie games like Unpacking, Go Go Town, and TWO successful Bluey games were developed in Brisbane. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-11...
neutral · AI labelView post →Might have the most horrifying amount of hours on this game of anyone in the reviews. You can finish this game in less then 10. Its an adorable decorating game with small puzzle element that help tell a story in the back round of game, there are a good amount of small hidden things I've found while playing and if you just want a calm cozy time this is for you. If any of the developers see this, I found this game at a really hard point in my life and it became something I played (over and over…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →we are playing Unpacking and quite frankly there's no excuse for a game about literally one of the worst chores that exists in this miserable world to be so charming and relaxing
positive · AI labelView post →I do like this game, but; - I would have liked a creative mode, after finishing the story, where you can choose one of the rooms/houses and place every item in every room (e.g. putting a mug on your desk). Just to add a little more replay value. - I do recommend you buy this game on sale. It had a very short game play so spend you money wisely.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After all these years, this is still my favorite video game of all time. I've played through it 8 times (including a dark star run and a run with my boyfriend choosing where most things went over call) and I still will never get enough. The art is beautiful, the little sounds everything makes is so satisfying, everything is so darn cute that I'm getting attached to the little travel trinkets. This is the sole video game soundtrack I'll listen to while doing work (or even doing some unpacking of…

neutral · AI labelView post →Honestly, when the Paralives team sent me screenshots of the house from the final level of Unpacking so lovingly recreated in their game I got a little emotional. They nailed it.

neutral · AI labelView post →This should be a video game in the style of UNPACKING except you have to deal with removing more and more terrors and contraptions from this nightmare apartment.
neutral · AI labelView post →Very very fun, but just too short. Like everyone else says, buy it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You wouldn't think a game called UNPACKING is one of the best queer games, but here we are. It is a puzzle game about the experience of pulling possessions out of boxes & fitting them into a new home...while learning clues about the life you’re unpacking. store.steampowered.com/app/1135690/...
neutral · AI labelView post →Far too short to justify its pricetag. It lost its coziness for me when I was stuck trying to figure out what an item was and specifically where the game required I put it. Less of a "try to fit everything!" and more of a "figure out where I want you to put things!"
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Going live a bit early with another cozy game called Urban Jungle. It was described to me as a plant focused game that plays kinda like Unpacking. I was also told there might be a cat involved. 🐈💕 www.youtube.com/live/vnIZ-hZ...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There could be endless iterations of this game and I would never get bored. I would love to see a sequel that tells someone else's story, as I just find it so fascinating to see someone's life unfold through the process of unpacking into their new home. I absolutely love this game, and it has kept my spirits up through rough times. One of my go-to games when I just need to feel calm and grounded. Again, I would buy so many sequels lol I crave more unpacking stories!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Y'know..? I had my eye on this game for a while now, finally got it in the Steam 2025 Winter sale... Didn't expect this to be "my kind of game" (I like high adrenaline, shooting and blowing things up) But Unpacking..it sorta blew my socks off. I might be going through a tough divorce soon enough...2025 has been Hell. Unpacking gave me calm, and a weird sense of clarity...in its own way, it helped me make an odd peace with what is, possibly inevitable. I don't usually leave reviews, but this…

positive · AI labelView post →Finishing this game years ago has left a organizing-shaped hole in my heart that no game since has been able to fill.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't already be crying on the first level of Unpacking, a game which I am *re*-playing for a show, so I know exactly what the story holds.
positive · AI labelView post →This isn't about preventing other games from having similar mechanics. These games are obviously ripping off Unpacking directly by posing as games from the same franchise. Calling your game "Unpacking deluxe edition" is not fair competition.
neutral · AI labelView post →While y’all are PAX this weekend I shall be enjoying an IRL version of “Unpacking”* *not as fun as the video game
neutral · AI labelView post →Not a terrible game by any means - nice style, fairly satisfying gameplay, nice context-based story in the background. However, it is outrageously priced for the content you get. I paid full price on my switch years back as I wanted something slow and chill for a break from work, and I remember being genuinely surprised and confused at how little gameplay there was for £16. I really did think I'd missed something. Picked this up again on sale here, mainly for the achievements and to see if I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is cute, but kinda overstays its welcome. Props to the pixel artists and the sound design team, the sounds each object make is a pleasant highlight of the game. But the game is too expensive for its length (PLEASE get it on sale) and found the unpacking bothersome at later stages.

neutral · AI labelView post →This game is very cute and heartfelt, I just don't feel that it's worth the price. It's very short, I completed it in about 4 hours; I've gotten more time out of cute little games that cost half the price. I bought this game on sale for $8, which I think aligns more with what you get out of it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a cute and relaxing game, but way too short for $20 unfortunately.

neutral · AI labelView post →It was actually a great game, however i literally completed it the day i got it.. i know others said this too but i wish there was like some DLC stuff to add more (to the main story or a new one) because when i tried replaying it it was quite boring because i knew everything so it ruins the point of having different save spots. It was genuinely a really fun game but again i just wish there was more

neutral · AI labelView post →Unpacking. Very cute game you can finish in a few hours that manages to tell a story entirely through organizing rooms. Genuinely brilliant game.
positive · AI labelView post →Alright if I had to give it stars, I'd give it 3 out of 5. The game itself is fun and a great distraction that doesn't require nth amount of focus. I like that it doesn't tell you where things go if it's "in the wrong place." However, it's a short game. I didn't realize it was a game you could "finish." For $20....I'd say....it wasn't worth it. Sure you can replay and place things differently in spots that were "also okay" but just not worth the 20 bucks. Fun though for what it is. Just…

neutral · AI labelView post →Unpacking is fun, relaxing, and satisfying, with a sweet story about one person’s life through what they keep, carry, and leave behind. It’s heartwarming, but it’s way too short for the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, can't recommend this game because it's too expensive for this simple and short game. When I finished the game in 5 hours, I was like "is that it ???". It would be good for AUD 5 not for AUD 28, not to mentioned that I couldn't put items in the places I desired.
