I decide to give a thumb down. It is fun at tactical aspect, but the campaign is just a ♥♥♥♥ hole. The mission system sucks, when you have access to CV (you may already have purchases 1 or 2 escort CV at this moment), some missions (like transporting special agent/document, intercept enemy convoys) may send you an enemy fleet with over 4 Battleships and 2-3 carrier and multiple cruisers. It is IMPOSSIBLE to defeat …

For a cheap 2014 game, I'm impressed. It's like Sid Meier's Pirates in WW2. There's some nice plus sides here. The game is open and free, and there's not a whole lot of rush. It's forgiving for those that are new (especially the Mediterranean campaign), but can ramp up in difficulty on demand for those that have one at least one other campaign (especially the Atlantic campaign as the Germans). It's alright. By that I mean it's fun enough. Nothing more or less. It can, however, be very grindy, and has a fair bit of minor bugs. Also, It is under NO CIRCUMSTANCES worth $25. Get it ON SALE ONLY. Like $7 or less. Don't let the thumbs up fool you, it's not a good game. It's an alright game worth a play at a good price.

Sea warfare has always been pretty difficult to put into a game format; a bit like flight simulators, they can either be too arcadey (and therefore not really do justice to their subject) or too realistic (hanging around for hours in a sub with nothing but little wheels to turn). Decent game. Was looking for something similar to PTO (which is a hazy good memory), and this is... close enough I guess. No Alaska-class Battlecruisers, but whatever... Anyway, the game is a combat RTS dealing with naval warfare in World War II. There are three campaigns: Atlantic, Pacific, and Mediterranean. I have only done the Med campaign at this point, which allows you to choose between playing as the Brits or the Americans. It looks like you can choose to play as either of those in the…

Pros: Lots of ships to choose from some interesting mission types fun campaign Cons: commanding more than a few ships gets very complicated ships with different speeds will not stay in formation Campaign has very few mechanics Something especially strange is that the exp goals for Axis powers are half that of the Allies. I'm not sure why this game gets so much love, honestly. It's not bad, but it feels like a mobile port, has no depth, and frankly feels almost unfinished - there are *hints* of some kind of gameplay or system beyond "shoot other ships, repeat", but as far as I can tell that's all there is to it. Someone else has said it's basically Mount and Blade but at sea, in WW2, and that's not super inaccurate - I think it would be better to say it feels more like an unfinished but ambitious Mount and…

It's like when RISK started allowing simultaneous turns. It is definitely not an RTS and it's deceptive to describe it as one. It is a PC version of a tabletop miniature game, and as a PC game it might appeal to die-hard fans of that but it doesn't have much to offer. It isn't particularly strategic except in the sense that you have to neutralise all enemy bases on the map to declare victory, but it is very tactical because you have to drive your player-controlled mega fleet around the map…

TL;DR: worth if on sale, otherwise game has issues: - bad UI - ok controls but does not give good feedback due to bad UI - game lacking in content, ship samey - ship themselves not unique, no reason to get different ships. The game itself is intuitive, and definitely does the naval combat well, even if its very simple. Personally, I did have fun doing one of the campaigns (the Atlantic Campaign), so I do believe I got my money's worth (~$6 CAD), and I recommend it if it is on sale at around…

Treat it as a mobile game and you are fine. You will sink a lot of stuff and they just keep coming. You get impossible missions and other bugs not to mention cumbersome AI but it is worth it on sale due to there not being much of competition. Where do I start? In a single campaign I managed to sink some 14 Yamato battleships (not Yamato class, just BB Yamato x 14), in addition 8 Musashi, some 10 of other Yamato class ships (including Shinano but not a carrier but a battleship). In 1942 I had 5 Iowa class Battleships in my group, not to mention 6 Essex class carriers. To add insult to injury I had to repeat that dumb mission with a cruiser carrying a nuke to Tinian. This bloody cruiser cannot be controlled, and always is the first…

Pretty ok, Carriers are pretty OP so Kriegsmarine and Regia Marina are a bit underpowered. Victory at Sea is naval real time combat game of WWII era. Game feels very simplistic in areas where it should shine: tactics, realistic ship and arment behaviour. I'm totally fine with alternative history units such as fully operational Graf Zeppelin aircraft carrier for KM, but how plain combat isn't acceptable. Victory At Sea is a naval warfare strategy game developed and published by Evil Twin Artworks that places players in command of large military fleets during the chaos of World War II. Built around large-scale naval operations, tactical fleet deployment, and real-time military engagements, the game attempts to capture both the scale and complexity of maritime warfare during one of history’s most significant global conflicts. Rather than focusing on a single ship or limiting players to scripted…

IF you are thinking about purchasing this for $5 on steam sale - do it. It's fun, arcade like approach to naval combat. Do not expect depth of realism. I have put about 700 hours into the game. It's worthwhile and a good play. Is it realistic, heck no. But where else can you take command of a Yamato class and devestate the Allied fleet?

What's your "no one but me remembers" game? Victory At Sea, a Mac-only grand strategy game from 1993. Even MobyGames has barely any information on it; this screenshot comes from the Macintosh Repository.

A good game. More fun in the beginning when you have a chance of losing battles. Once you get a big fleet you become like Godzilla and stomp the little Japanese ships to pieces. Gets repetitive after a while.

This is clearly a badly ported mobile game. There is no balance, there is no accuracy historical or otherwise. The only reason i can see for ever buying this abomination is if you are an old school battleship fan and want to giggle as your ship eats 30-40 torpedo impacts with no significant damage and you finally get to revenge the defeat at the hands of the aircraft carriers as unless the AI amasses 5 or more your battleships are going to have a field day.
