I think it would apply, if the game didn't actively tell you that Vox Populi was bad too, actually, because they are violent

It could've been the most amazing bioshock game in the world, and I'd still hate it because of the dumb Vox Populi "twist"

Bioshock 2: Cults are bad. Bioshock 3: Shooting racist bastards is awesome and why did I uninstall the game after the asylum level again? (Making Vox Populi antagonists was centrist nonsense.)

An election sim with pixel graphics based in Poland is probably not the expected game for a random English ♥♥♥♥♥ to recommend but let me plainly say, this is one of the best election sims I have ever had the privilege to play (not that there's much competition mind). this is absolutely worth the £4.29 price-tag even if I wish the game itself was expanded to encompass multiple elections over a period of time and potentially one day multiple different nations all bundled into one game, I have…

Even when I played the game as a kid, I remember thinking the Vox Populi thing was terribly written. But I just buried it in my mind 'cause I loved the Elizabeth stuff too much. This brought back some bad memories lol

I like Civ V personally. I like the hexagons and I like the one-unit-per-tile instead of death stacks, even though the AI isn't great at using it without community patches. I also like its visuals the most. It also has the beloved fan mod Vox Populi, if you want to get into all that.

A lot of words from the devs, but imo not convincing at all. It looks like they're trying to put lipstick on a turd and hope that that's good enough for people to give kissing the turd another chance. Imo civ 5 is still the best hex civ game, especially with the Vox Populi mod. Civ 6 is interesting for puzzling, but the ai is handicapped because it's not good at the puzzles, leaving it unable to compete strategically.

okayyyy so i downloaded Vox Populi for Civ V to give it a spin, felt it wasn't my jam so I deleted it from the mod folder, and reinstalled the game and yet now it is *still* fucking with my Civ V in a way that has completely broken the game. Anyone know what to do here?

They are in Civ 5, though frustratingly they are called Iroquois while the little flavor spiel as the game loads says Haudenosaunee. The Vox Populi mod gives them a bit more historical flavor.

Hummmmm. Hard one, this. I think this is my final 10, after some consideration. I break it down to three categories: Forever games * **Civilization V:** Was a comfort game for years, could probably play it forever as a type of Solitaire. Several thousand hours of content still remain with learning the Vox Populi mod and modded extra civilizations. * **Football Manager:** I would try to argue I'm allowed to buy each year's edition for the data update but if I must choose one it's 2024.…

I just played through it again and while yes, it's a massively flawed game in many ways, it has some kind of charm. I think it's the strength of the acting. But pulling a both sides on the Vox Populi was the biggest story flaw.

so it's, *ostensibly*, Levin talking about how he's brainstorming a character's thought process. But it's also the same guy who, you know, gave us Daisy Fitzroy and the Vox Populi. [also, ostensibly about our protagonist for the next game he's making]

the game is alright, it would be really nice if developers added some functions like changing your party's name, or some randomizer to the opposing candidates, but overall its an good game, you'll play it for 10 hours.

Musk doing this Yes/No poll of him staying in charge of Twitter, as well as deciding to take all future policy decisions to the vote. This very much resembles #TheOrville episode called “Majority rule”, one of the best in series and making some strong points. It also had few follow up down in season 3. https://orville.fandom.com/wiki/Majority_Rule #voxpopuli #majority #democracy #terror

Even outside of the multiverse stuff, its approach to "both siding" Columbia and the Vox Populi is hilariously bad. Spends the majority of game showing how over the top bigoted the Columbia and not even a few minutes into the revolt goes "wow both sides really are the same aren't they"

This may serve to explain the inexplicable villainy of the Vox Populi midway through the game. Rather than there being a true in-story explanation, the implication is that they turn out to be bad, because in previous Bioshock titles, the "resistance" faction turned out to be bad. 7/?

Idk... People say that BioShock Infinite does Both-Sides-ism but I played that game A LOT and I never felt like the Vox Populi became The Villains of the story. They turn on you because you time travel to a dimension where your character is supposed to be dead not because they're actually evil.

Yeahhh even as someone who enjoys Infinite, I can’t defend the writing behind Daisy and the Vox Populi. It sends an awful “two sides” message and goes so strongly against what the game’s first half was saying. It’s doubly disappointing because other aspects of the game do feel well-thought out.

I liked Bioshock Infitine. I know it's become popular to shit on it these days, and it certainly has it's issues (the Founders & Vox Populi stuff was really poorly handled) but I still respect that games ambitions and story, even if it wasn't the game promised initially.

Bioshock Infinite was so close to being potentially revolutionary, but it had to make the downtrodden Vox Populi resistance group betray Booker and Elizabeth. The game outright says that the violent resistance group is just as bad as the violent white supremacists/capitalists Fink and Comstock.

I never thought the game took the stance that the Vox Populi are bad in any way; simply that "shit happens in a revolution" "people like Booker and Liz exist, they should shut the fuck up about racial issues but they never will" and "how are you gonna' explain a trans-dimensional misunderstanding".

Civ 6 with DLCs is the best out-of-box experience. I really love the art style, for example the parchment fog-of-war. Very beautiful. Civ 5 is great too but you should use the Vox Populi mod for the best experience. Adds more depth to the game and makes it way better. Can't go wrong with either

The honest truth is that they’re all pretty different from one another. The community gold standard is Civ 4 and it’s usually on sale. Civ 5 is also a pretty good game now with all expansions plus some DLL mods such as Vox Populi Keep an eye on Civ 7 reviews though, it’ll be closer to Rev I think
