Many players who enjoyed the first game find this sequel a solid upgrade with more content. [1][2][3] Some reviewers criticize the mission-based structure as grindy and repetitive. [4][5][6] Several players feel the game lacks the open-world magic of the original. [7][8][9]

I've been waiting for this for a while. Simply put, it's bigger, better and all-around an upgrade to WW1 that doesn't actually require you playing it. The player now has a lot more to do, like visiting the city and interacting with the NPCs. I think it's fair to say anyone who enjoyed WW1 would be into this.

I was a big fan of the first Wall World. Despite some flaws, my main criticism was that it felt too short, I really wanted to spend longer in this world. So I was really excited for this sequel, since it meant more of what I liked. However, it feels like the devs overcorrected a lot. The game abandons the massive level you can spend hours climbing, and instead has a "missions" system, where you choose a mission to …

(Edited for latest patch) I loved wall world 1 and other roguelikes like it and was super excited for wall world 2 so im disappointed i have to give wall world 2 a negative review but it unfortunately deserves it. Wall world 2 is a jumble of half baked systems that all clash with each other. After coming back to the game after some updates i really find myself struggling to complete it. Every mission feels extremely …

Wall World 1 was an intruiging game as it was basically a simple open world adventure. You just went out on the wall and just went up or down, trying to push as far as you could. Its weakest aspect was that you could get to the point where you'd reach the end of the wall, but couldn't yet finish it, as you didn't have enough keys collected as the meta currency yet, so you just lost. Wall world 2 is only that. There …

Very disappointing sequal. Weapons are terribly balanced, many are worse then the default, which is itself barely adequate even in the early game. Gameplay is painfully slow, devs clearly didn't rebalance for the shorter game play loop when compared to the first game. Difficulty skyrockets early on leaving you utterly dependent on getting a decent weapon each mission which is very unlikely given how many of them do …

I swear, modern developers forget that games are foremost supposed to be fun. 1/5 - Go play the original game. Much more fun, much less annoying. To go on: The entire pointless city UI, running back and forth to buy drinks and upgrades, is just awful. Could have been accomplished in a menu system without forcing you to spend 2-3 minutes…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wall World 2 added and subtracted exactly the wrong things in my opinion: -instead of the huge mysterious open world the game is now mission based -there is now enemies in the mines (this could be fun but they are boring and no real threat) -the upgrades feel worse and don't look nearly as cool as they did in the first game -there is a lot more clutter: instead of one place to upgrade the spider and the mechsuitguy there is now three places -the tutorial is a lot longer and feels like a chore…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed the first Wall World, so I was excited to pick up Wall World 2. Unfortunately, after finishing it, it feels like a downgrade in almost every meaningful way. The biggest issue is how progression works now. Since most upgrades only apply to your current run and each biome only provides a single resource type, the incentive to fully explore and clear areas is basically gone. By the end, I found myself rushing through zones just to finish objectives, because there was no point in…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played through it and finished all of the sidequests. Was it worth it? Definitely not. Whole game feels like stretched out attempt to make mobile version of the first game. Don't get me wrong. Core gameplay is solid and fine, but because how whole mission system and map 'generation' system works is just tiring and feels the same through whole game with a sprinkle of bugs from time to time. Pros: - Nice graphics and art style - Music is fine - Few new powerups compared to the first…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"how much BS can we put in between the player and the gameplay loop they enjoyed in our first game" isn't a great starting point for a sequel. I dumped 20 minutes of my life into this and decided the devs had no idea what was enjoyable about Wall World 1. I love tedious walking to shops to be forced to buy upgrades. I love 3 minutes of holding the W key while the spider walks interminably slowly up a wall for "story reasons". I love a forced justification for not having upgrades from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i absolutely loved the first wall world. start a run, enter a mine, get all the ores, fight some dudes, go to a new mine. but in my opinion the worst part is that very beggining sequence when you just start out and your drill can barely break blocks. unfortunately becuase of the way the missions are set up in this game 70% of your run time will be spent in that slow phase. and the resource requirement for permanaent upgrades discourages buying good upgrades becuse if you max yourself out in a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Haters almost got me to not buy it, Would´ve missed out! After having played myself for a fair amount, atleast so far, It seems like only improvements to the first Game. So if you enjoyed the first Wallworld, you will certainly enjoy this one. To some of the critique alot of people have with the Game: This Game offers way, way more meta progression than the first, while alot of People probably misremember alot, since they ended up with full upgrades in the first game. Thus thinking…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's be honest. It's not a great sequel. This is not a hate comment, it's just my honest opinion, and just want to give feedback to the developers of a game I really liked (the first Wall World). I love the new feature of enemies in caves. I feel like it gives a fresh coat of paint to the game, bringing something unique compared to the first one. I also like that there are missions other than just going forward and stuff. And that's all. That's where the fun ends for me. The first few times…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, I really tried to give this game some love, like I did the first opus. But no. That's not possible. That's a slog of a grind, doing quick missions that bring you back to the beginning with a few upgrades, and you are *forced* to do them to progress. Over and over. Then, you get a little intermission which is interesting, and which I want more of, dammit ! and *then* you uncover a new region and you're back to the same grind until you can get the new chapter of the intermission. It barely…

Gameplay is painfully slow, devs clearly didn't rebalance for the shorter game play loop when compared to the first game. Couple hours in: Art is insanely cool, one small bug (Getting the first pair of legs for free, not that I'm complaining). Enjoying the expansion from the first game, there's tons more to do and so impressed at the depth here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wall World 1 veteran review vvvvvvv This game is not at all related to wall world 1. its so different. and i cant even call it rogue in any case. 1-They got rid of open world and replaced it with missions 2-They replaced progress with equally scaling difficulty (Even if you buy gear you will still spend the same time one very mission without feeling OP or progress) 3-They removed roguelike loot that you find, now you only find 1 GUN IFFFFF you are lucky you MIIIGHT find it. so basicly 1 gun…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love Alawar and the games they produce. Generally speaking, when I hear they came out with something new I cannot wait to get out my wallet. it really pains me to leave a negative review for this one. This just feels like taking several steps back. First off, it feels like you're a little too overpowered. Even just getting a buff or two from the drinks at the bar alone feels like what would have equated to several levels worth of upgrades in the first game. Secondly, switching…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Straight downgrade from the first game. You could always find what you needed if you knew where to look in the first one. The game was about learning as much as roguelite progression. This one is just pure random luck. The developers didn't know how to actually make it more challenging so they just took away player power. Did the game give you a weapon beyond your neutered gatling gun? No? Get ♥♥♥♥♥♥, you lose. Did you choose the right hole to dig in at the beginning of this map? No? ♥♥♥♥ you,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So as a game this isn't terrible, as a sequel it is. Every aspect you loved about the first is truncated here. The skill trees are the same pretty much, but the problem is now runs are designed with specific goals that don't require you to go to more than a few mines. Also THERE ARE NO MORE THAN A FEW MINES. So those deep skill trees are a taunt until wayyyyy deeper in the game as there's no possible way other than sinking time (not leveraging skill, just time). So if you're expecting to go…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First one was better It's a technical improvement in many ways over the first one. The controls are better, there are more upgrades and weapons and I enjoy the new mining tools and combat. So on it's own this is a solid game. However, gameplaywise the first one had much better pacing. WW2 chops every map into very small sections. Drill 2 or 3 times per map max, pull out for meta reward, rinse-n-repeat. Everything you unlock is gone as fast as you got it you just never max out any of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disappointing sequel with lackluster, unpolished gameplay Wall World 2 feels more like an artificially lengthened DLC than a standalone title. A LOT of the core mechanics are identical to the first game. WW2 only adds a few nuances to the base gameplay, and most of them are poorly designed. Gameplay and progression Instead of climbing the wall, you are now sent on shorter missions to different biomes, each with a task to complete. The task itself hardly matters, because the gameplay of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While lore is interesting, the game offers a little of nothing. First of all, they made walldigger [human miner we play] weaker and spider upgrades worse. They deliberately refused to push forward more upgrades to allow us to dig faster and instead limited it. In the first version of the game, Spider could break half of the biome within seconds by using a Seismic generator, but in 2, the last upgrade does nothing. They also removed the Pulse Suit upgrade. There is no lore dropped to explain…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game but it has many issues and lacks polish. The good: fun gameplay loop, fair amount of variability, interesting level and enemy design, engaging upgrades and mac support which is always appreciated. The bad: boss battles, some zones are annoying, very few QoL mechanics that are desperately needed (*), the puzzle sections is painfully boring and elongated, lacks permanent upgrades that make the early runs a bit more enjoyable while the late run feels too powerful so the transition to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well first of all its nothing like the first game, which i enjoyed very much. Second, none of lags from first part were fixed, like when you destroy a lot of blocks same time or use weapon wiht lots of particles. Third THIS GAME IS TEDIOUS. Every single aspect of it. Grind became unbearable, quest system is meaningless and because of how short the quests are, you repeat the start cycle of upgrades every time just to end the run because, well you finished the quest lol. And for the boss,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved Wall World, and I want to love Wall World 2 so badly But it just barely falls short of being a sequel, alone it's fine, but as a sequel to Wall World? Meh. It feels like they wanted to use Wall World as a base, which makes sense of course, but they just ended up recycling far to much and overall it means that a lot of stuff just feels Copy/Pasted from the original game And the aspects that they did try to change or add onto just don't quite hit the spot, like they either didn't change…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is just too bloated with pointless grinding. You start a mission, get the minerals, decide if you want to upgrade something for the run or save the resources for the meta upgrades, you get to the city and upgrade something if you can. So far, so good. Thing is... By the 11 hour mark, it's getting really, REALLY repetitive. Checking other reviews (the positive ones), they have something like 40 to 60 hours. HEEEEEEELLLLLL NO! I'm not going to play that amount of hours for such mediocre…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Saw Wall Word 2 was released -> Bought it -> Played 8 hours straight -> looked at the Clock -> realized it was already 03:00 Midnight (has to wake up early) -> no regrets. - Played Wall World 1 - This has better Storytelling, Details, Ingame Upgrades (Docking Station totally awesome) - For that Price you get what you are searching for - if you dont like Rougelikes, Minings, Defending Shooter Style -> pass - if you DO like -> i strongly recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. it has everything I enjoy from other games. But this was just not fun. Constantly have to hold left click down for hours as you mine is annoying. So much grinding for an upgrade or 2 from the 10+ available. Seems like they do everything to slow you down making you spend more time in the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Should've been a DLC. Added a few weapons? So many just copied from the first game. But you can no longer get more than one per mission. 50% or more of the weapons/relics are trash, not even worth picking up. If you could remove a relic/weapon from the rotation it'd be great, using the meta currency or something. There are some very questionable design decisions. For instance, all the buildings at the mine entrance are copied over from the first game, no changes. These turrets that stay…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, if you're coming from the first Wall World you should hold your expectations as this is a similar game yet almost a different genre, a lot of the fun jank is gone, the mining doesn't have the same charm to it, there are enemies in the mines and spawners designed to slow your progression by hindering you when alive or forcing waves when killed and the individual missions feel too short to be considered roguelike. If you're looking for less of a roguelike and something with a lot…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you liked the first wallworld don't buy this this game takes out all the fun from the first game, i know i have only played 0.7 hours but it has already shown how bad this is Even if you haven't played the first one this will 100% be a bad experience
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't a harsh negative review, I just think the first game is better. Shorter, yes, but more focused. A game in WW2 feels like it drags on and on. Finding new modules isn't thrilling because the vast majority are combat related. Mining is slow and tedious even with all the regular upgrades to your mining laser, and you so rarely get any mining tools from the modules you find.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →icba playing this game. Its just a downgrade and nothing really new. Artifact drops are gutted or what? i have seen a weapon in it only once in 4 hours. So i was forced to play default machine gun. Most random dropped upgrades are okay at best. +Forced campaign and story made it feel like i was at work, not playing a game to have fun. Its just miserable time all around. Almost all additions are questionable. They didnt expand the game, only the things in your way to the game\gameplay. Wow, dumb…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dont like it the first Game was better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The sequel is a different take on the formula of the first game. It is enjoyable, but I didn't like how the XXL maps can take almost an hour to finish.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will keep the review brief (I may or may not get back to this for a longer version): Gameplay-wise this doesn't really feel like a sequel to an already great game, even considering that upgrades need to be gradually acquired it just feels like the sequel is focusing on the wrong aspects where missions (gameplay based on levels / smaller sections) and consumables (basically single-use upgrades which create a resource sink rather than something like being able to choose from purchased modules)…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely not worth the time. The game is extremely repetitive and even gets boring. I expected it to take around 5 to 10 hours to finish, but it ended up taking way longer than I thought. The game itself has a cool theme, but it becomes excessively repetitive and boring as you spend hours playing it. I completed 100% of the achievements, and the story is actually interesting, but it's very slow since the plot is only revealed little by little over time. The most enjoyable part was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seems pretty dope so far. It's ike the first one but with more mechanics/upgrades/storyline(I'd play the first one first because that was also good, no reason not to). The story is barebones but an interesting mystery. The systems, items, upgrades, etc are well thought out. The gameplay loop is fun. Just overall a great second addition to wall world franchise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First and foremost, a lot of the bad reviews should be ignored, if you liked the first game, you will probably like the second part one too. I totally recommend this game as it is. However im dumping a bug, feedback and suggestion list in here since their Discord requires your account to be verified via phone, i ain't doing that. Bugs: Walldigger Relics & Spider Effects that destroy blocks do not drop +% all block mined random items. (I can understand if this is intentional, but it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A way less fun clone of a very good game called Dome Keeper. I anticipated this game to take the ideas in that game and push them, but this feels like a cash grab almost. Comparatively this game holds no value. 0/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WW 1 was as good as it gets. Well, WW 2 is even beyond that. Humongous lore! Spent the whole day just to finish Act 1 (my ballpark guess it's barely 30% of the total scope). New combat system within mines totally delivered - never had a dull moment there. Lots of new locations and man, lots to do here - starting from a city to upgrade your staff or chatting to get new side tasks to finding your way throughout the wall tunnel. And the balance is just right! Truly a new gem of a franchise.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the first more. Not enough innovation to justify a second installment.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's way worse than first part. Map is just cosmetic - no real choice. Balance is totally broken. Running around town - waste of time - give me icons to click. Weapons are joke - to little, mostly too crappy. Hero stats are way to high, spider too low. Too much grind. Bugs... Only fun thing is shooting creatures in mines.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was a MEH review... if you liked the first one you will most likely try it and come out puzzled... there is the same spice that keeps things interesting but there are also weird design choices for example, i have finished the game using the main turret weapon for 90% of the missions, the fact that i might get a new weapon (of which i saw a handfull) is a weird design choice. Your starting weapon is weak, but with patience it gets the job done... id love to get my hand on a new…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 Simply not engaging enough. I'm about halfway through, but unlikely to finish. The first Wall World was pretty good. There was a sense of awe at the sheer colossal size of the wall. There was a sense of wonder, and an enjoyment to discovering new biomes and upgrading the spider mech. This sequel has a lot of things the first game didn't: there are new mechanics, a larger array of upgrades, and a more complex story. Alas, the sense of wonder and awe are nowhere to be found.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is true what other reviewers say: If you like the first game, you will love this one, but this does change the structure of the runs compared to the first game: instead of a single big level with multiple biomes and you get progressively better at it, in this game there are many different zones, with a few biomes and you perform different mission in these zones. There are enemies in the caves and this refines the gameplay loop further. That being said, the game does get repetitive. I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly repetitive, worst design choice to have you farm the same resources just to get the same upgrades every single mission. Your suit upgrades -> Removed each run. Your spider mech upgrades -> Removed each run. Your relics found -> Removed each run. Your resources farmed -> Converted into resources you can buy less interesting and less effective permanent passive upgrades with. Rinse and Repeat.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hoped the game would be better than the first. It's not. There's a fine line between the challenging and the annoying. The author seems completely unaware of that line. We've got this new cool feature! The game should get easier now. We should feel more powerful now. Right? WRONG! Instead of empowering you - the game just piles on more challenges to overcome. Every upgrade is not a reward. It's a new duty. There are very few things that ever feel like a reward. Even the dialogs get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far this game is great! The devs have been very responsive to early issues that players ran into, and quick to find / squash bugs that are being reported (including one I ran into when I first played). The first Wall World had a fun "rogue-like" luck of the draw vibe to each run, and this game still manages to capture those mechanics while also establishing more of a story-based meta progression. I'm probably not very far into the actual plot line yet, but it's a solid sci-fi…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played the first game, this will be...more of the first game. But I have to say, it's not as good. For one, they did away with the simple 'trying to get to the top of the wall' premise, where each run was that singular goal with randomly generated caves. Instead, you now do a bunch of missions with specific objectives. The formula is largely the same, but the little differences start to add up, and not in a good way. They added enemies to the mines, which seems like a good change, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting story, Wall World 1 but with better graphics and animations, more shooters and spiderss, still mechanic b00ba girl, still big-ass tentacles (now with different skins!!1!), still awesome soundtrack. After some time it can get repetitive tho, 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It pains me to write a bad review for this game because I enjoyed the first one so much. There is a lot to acknowledge (positive and negative) but I'm just gonna focus on the biggest issue for me. Unfortunately, they broke some of the most sensible gameplay mechanics. In swapping an open-world, endless runner feel, they've replaced the level structure with more of a campaign style mission approach. They also allow some base building and exploration. Great ideas on paper! But what just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bigger and better than the first game. for the amount of content this game has for the price is amazing. def recommend if you like Dome Keeper.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game seems like it might be fun at first, but then you realize that every single mine, NONE of your upgrades transfer over. So all the work you just did means nothing and each new mine you have to start from scratch with vanilla weapons, health, speed etc. Its just not fun. After about 3-4 mines, and the enemies get WAY harder, yet you have vanilla weapons. ITs annoying. I deleted it after about 2 hours and won't ever play this again. Pass on this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's better than the first game, but for the third one they really need to spice things up with some roguelike mechanics or whatever the devs can come up with. Having to buy all the same upgrades every run (and being still limited to the A D keys to scroll through the gadget menu) was tolerable in the first game, but this time around has become really tiring. The mission-based structure did little to mitigate the lack of variety between runs, beyond being able to evacuate early and save…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the exact opposite of everything i liked of the first game. Do not buy this game it will waste your time like nothing else. The devs have no idea what they are doing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprised how good it is, given the mostly positive review score. It got backlash for not innovating enough, and also because instead of just being designed to be a roguelike, you have campaign missions which you complete and unlock. Having been a few years since I played the first Wall World, I don't notice how much of it was borrowed from the first game, but there's definitely new stuff in it - so that criticism isn't an issue for me. The second criticism comes down to personal…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like more than the first in some aspects but the additions only seem to make the game more tedius.
