What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 182 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (784 of 952 positive).
Players enjoy the elemental stealth gameplay and pixel art. [1][2][3] Some find the game repetitive or lacking polish. [4][5][6] A few reviewers report bugs or performance issues. [7][8]

This is good in it's own right, I suppose, but three things really bug me: 1. The text boxes are PAINFULLY slow, and there's no way to speed them up. You're required to sit through them for some missions and that makes restarting more annoying. 2. The game is poorly optimised. Often as soon as I use the fire/physics mechanics my game starts lagging like crazy, and I have a fairly high-end(ish) pc that meets the …

Wildfire is a pixel art 2D stealth platformer, where you have to use your elemental abilities to free your fellow villagers and escape the numerous hunting parties that are after you, as well as avoiding environmental hazards. There’s a good amount of puzzle solving (especially if you aren’t doing the bare minimum in stages), and replayabilitiy if you want to complete all the optional extras for different awards (no …

Fun, little gem of a stealth-like platformer with elemental interactions that could benefit from a level editor Wildfire is a delightful stealth game centered around elemental interactions, reminiscent of titles like Noita and Magicka. In this game, you play as a newly awakened witch who harnesses the power of three elements: fire, water, and earth (grass), with skills that unlock as you progress. The Good The core …

It's actually a nice little game but it lacks polish. If the devs were to release a follow-up where they iron out some of the weaker aspects of the game, I'm sure it would turn out great. Those being: - The music is rather generic - There is little enemy variety - Gameplay, while fun most of the time, gets repetitive - There is only little entertainment in replaying levels. It feels more like a chore - Little to no …

Fabulous pixel art game with a fun way to control water, earth and fire. If you like a relaxing game I recommend this to anyone, especially the final level.

positive · AI labelView post →The Wildfire Trilogy by @gamefiend.bsky.social is right on the line between poetry and storytelling. It's a worldbuilding game, but crucially it follows its world through the whole sweep of its arc. thoughtcrimegames.itch.io/wildfire

neutral · AI labelView post →It is a fun game but one thing that is a real bummer is at some point there is someone using the fourth element, wind. And instead of allowing you to access it to in NG+ they just completely neglected it. I was really anticipating unlocking it personally, but alas no luck. Other than that it is a very fun game, and I'd still recommend it, I just wish I knew that going in.

neutral · AI labelView post →When you get the game, it expands. Very well game mechanics! Clever! I really liked the game. However, the game bugged at the mission player rescue the bobcat. Bobcat would not follow you upper levels, after failing (dying) once in the mission you cannot ''carry'' bobcat. I beat the episode but could not move or make follow the cat through the exit. This made my experience stuck there. I'll keep the game installed and turn the review positive if a patch or something comes up.

positive · AI labelView post →I've really been on the fence about this one: conceptually it's cool, but I honestly find that it's kind of annoying to actually play. I know that I *can* freely reload, but the fact that the game then "punishes" me (in an incredibly minor way, but in a way that's very obvious) makes me feel like I shouldn't do that and should instead restart the whole level, but the levels are actually feel kind of long and it's dull to repeat the early bits to get more attempts on the harder bits. It's not…

neutral · AI labelView post →This is a very nice 2D sneaker similar to Mark of the Ninja or Gunpoint and it is similarly good. Throughout the game you gain different abilities and learn to use them to your advantage so there is a little rpg sprinkled in here as well. Overall it's a good and engaging game that offers enough diversity to want to see what's around the next level so I recommend it to anybody who remotely likes stealth games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In "What is a core game loop?" at SCM, I wondered if every game *must* contain a core game loop (defined broadly). Good discussion in the comments. I think I found a loopless game, similar to the concept of through-composed music! The Wildfire Trilogy designed by @gamefiend.bsky.social ... (1/2)
neutral · AI labelView post →This is a great game. If you liked Ori the Blind Forest or Mark of the Ninja, you should play this game. And If you have suggestion based on this games please feel free to do so.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of 9 Hours i probably had only 30 minutes of actual enjoyment. Mechanically it just is not that interesting, it is an incredibly boring game that tries it's best to make stealth fun but ends up becoming tedious, samey and agonising later on when patrols take upwards of 40 seconds to do something. AVOID

positive · AI labelView post →Decent stealh / platforming game with pixel graphics. Enjoyed it well though didn't replay it in ng+ Played on controlled and have no complains. If doing only main story then i think i you can beat this game in half amount of time.

positive · AI labelView post →I bought this game because it looked like a fun co-op game to play with my wife who is not a gamer. I then proceeded to download it and play it solo...and I beat it solo...haha. Really fun game. It has a lot of replay value if one is interested in trying different play styles as every magic branch has the different mobility needed to get where you need to go. After beating the game you also get to play again but with all your upgrade points available for redistribution, so if you want to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty fun. +Many optional objectives. -Enemy AI is pretty bad. -Once you get the earth powers they kind of break the game since it lets you carry around a piece of concealment you can deploy anywhere. Enemies will not even notice that there's suddenly a bush in the corridor they walked down ten seconds ago, even if it's a completely inappropriate place for grass like indoors.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's one of those games that has the same mechanic that they had to take out of Assassin's Creed because it was so unpopular. Perfect-run the task at hand in just the right way and you get the rewards, fail on any of the objectives and you get a big red X instead. It's actually kind of worse here, because rather than just trying to sync with Ezio's historic actions, you're playing for upgrade points that enhance your abilities, so you really are losing out on something tangible with those red…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept is fun but it becomes a bit repetitive and boring. The enemy's are really annoying (Don't get me started on the scream they do). The game basically breaks down to sitting in grass to wait and go. It's hard to play the game any other way b/c as soon as you are detected its impossible to jump over alerted enemy's. You can go back to being hidden but just seems a little boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My wife and I loved it. Excellent co-op experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get 'Mark of the Ninja' or 'Katana Zero' for a superior version of this style of gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the gameplay of this game but I especially like the structure. It's a 2D stealth platformer broken up into multiple self-contained stages with an overarching world map and upgrades system from the points you earn both from finding things in stages and completing objectives. I really dislike having to replay parts of the same game which often tempts me to use a walkthrough instead of playing blind but the structure used in this case makes the multiple runs still feel good to do. The…

"No, we have Avatar: The Last Airbender as a 2D stealth game with pixel graphics at home." And then the one element you don't get is air. Bruh. All jokes aside, Wildfire is a really cool little game. There are challenges to each level and common ones like not getting seen or not killing any enemy, but it's even more fun when you find some really cool way to go through a level. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Morlan's shorts: The game has almost no video options for resolutions! There is "small" which is ridiculously small to play (960x540!), "fullscreen" and "double window" (which is actually 4x the small-window-mode so in effect it's fullscreen with windowed borders). Basically there are NO options for people to play in windowed-mode. So it's a no.. If I ever play it in some existing mode.. I may write a review. This is just a cautionary tale.. in the year 2020 and you make a game without…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mechanically, this is a stealth puzzle game, NOT a fantasy action sidescroller. The name and promo videos make it seem like you are a magic-wielding badass. You are not. You cannot fight. You can distract, and sneak, and sabotage, and trap. Just keep that in mind coming in.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Though the graphics are nice enough and what I've been able to see of the magic system looks like it would be fun, this game is obnoxious to play. The controls feel like your character is sliding on ice all of the time, and you use the same button both to slide and to hide from enemies meaning that you will extremely often leap right into the arms of a guard you're trying to avoid instead of taking cover. The collectible systems are fun, but I don't like that they are randomised; the optional…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a cool game. I like systems-driven magic gameplay, and have yet to play a platformer that I feel really took advantage of it. So Wildfire is unique to my experience in that regard. Definitely worth a play. The game plays a little like a mix between Vagante and Abe's Oddysee, where staying in control of your approach (AKA stealth and planning) are central to pulling off successful maneuvers. Your character is very mobile, much moreso when you unlock more elemental abilities, but also…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept of Wildfire is fine, but a few gameplay elements quickly soured the experience. Speedrun, but not speedrun friendly No auto skip for cutscenes/dialog every time you restart. No auto skip for cutscenes at level complete you've already scene. Having to manually exit tutorial/side story levels after level complete. Escorts Saving the villagers quickly becomes a focal point of the game. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful pixel art, nice music and fun gameplay. You can't fight directly, instead relying on the environment to deal with enemies. Pitfalls, burning alive in a bush, suffocating and falling asleep in smoke etc. There are some fun combos you can do with your magic, but it's not really use-able in singleplayer. Like trapping an enemy in vines and then setting them on fire. It's a stealth puzzle platformer first and foremost. I really disliked the final boss and a few levels, but otherwise it…

Controls felt very tight. A lot of different options use your elemental powers. This game provides quite a unique experience! I did find a few bugs/glitches such…
