TL/DR: a game of mediocrity, with some things great and some things bad, and most things meh. There are better places to spend your money. Since I gave it a bad review, I'll start with the good: 1. The maps generally are good, and the city battles are fantastic. Genuinely, the city battles are better than the games that came before and after; lots of detail, large maps, good chokepoints that make sense, rewards for …

Never understood the hate this game got. For me it's my first Total War game and my favourite of the bunch I've played. The artstyle, soundtrack, battles, world map, unit design are all *chefs kiss*. The world map is smaller than previous TW's but it works perfectly here. The game is more simplified and not overly complex unlike other TW games. If you're into the Viking era you'll love this.

Total War: Thrones of Britannia is easily my favorite game in the Total War franchise. I know it isn't everyone's top pick, but it absolutely clicked with me. I hadn't played Thrones of Britannia for quite a while, but coming back to it with the Thrones Reforged mod installed feels like playing a completely new game. The mod adds so much to the experience. The historical names and attention to detail make the campaign feel far more immersive, while the pacing feels much better balanced and rewarding. Unit rosters are more interesting, battles are engaging, and the overall …

I love total war games, but I have mixed feelings about this. This is basically like the OG Shogun, which is 18 years older and said a lot of things. The AI is stupid. They simply occupy my village when my much bigger army is next to it. Also, the diplomacy is a joke and completely useless. Aliance? More like they won't attack me for a while, but they won't help you much either. Offering vassal status with a 10 times bigger army at their gates? How dare you insult them? Or buying off Vikings…

I wish I could like this game. The battles are fine, unit progression promotes diverse and varied armies which is great. Sieges are alright but got repetative fast. Almost every offensive siege plays one of 3 ways: 1. I attack the gates and break it easily. I fight in the ramp with only a handful of units while the AI pumps every unit to hold me and they lose morale one by one. By the time I get up the line, the siege is done. 2. The exact same with towers. 3. A mix of the two AI just piles…

To the Danelaw, the fyrd, to Alfred of Wessex. If you're a fan of The Last Kingdom, this will be the game you want. There are a lot of strategy "experts" on here, as well as a lot of longtime Total War fans, that will tell you to avoid this game. But that depends on who you are. This game had great potential. The return to the multiple town settlements and the new recruitment mechanics in combination with its wonderful score and siege battles made for potentially a really fun experience reminiscent of Shogun 2. Unfortunately like most historical titles after Attila this one lacks depth. No unique new mechanics, diplomacy forgotten, agents removed but with no real addition to make up for this exclusion, and theres only 3 stances your armies can have since 'ambushing'…

After starting off with Rome II and working my way through Empire, Napoleon, Attila, and Shogun 2, now this, I can say this is probably my least favorite. It sucks because I really wanted to play this a lot, especially since it’s largely about my ancestry. There’s simply not much content, units, or just things going on in general. I love the campaign and playing as the Anglo-Saxons, but beyond that, it was boring as ♥♥♥♥, repetitive, and just seems like it could’ve been DLC for Attila. I love…

I really like this game. I enjoy the smaller scope and the lack of unit variety doesn't bother me at all in this setting. The sieges are some of the best in all of Total War. I enjoy that I can Ultimate Victory the campaign in a weekend, and I don't have to sit through 300 factions at the end of every turn. Obviously this game is not as dense as other TW titles that have much larger scopes, but for me it's a nice relaxed weekend killer where I can establish Scottish dominance while watching The…

One of the sloggiest Total War titles ever made. So much repetition, poor design choices, bland units and research options. Horrible building options where most seem absolutely obsolete besides a choice few. Tried to grind to get a good chunk of the achievements but its so annoying just chasing an army around to your minor settlements (no garrisons so a single unit can take any of them). I wouldn't buy unless it was under $10 and you might enjoy your first playthrough and that's about it.

This is the worst total war game I played, and I played all of them. I love total war saga in general, but this one is the worst. Gameplay is soooo slow, every basic building takes 4 or more turns to build. But the worst of all are that loyalty points. This game is no more about conquering, but managing, politics and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...First total war game I actually do not like at all.

Bottom line up front: There is one reason I won't recommend this game, and that is the ease with which your lands can be taken without a fight. In other Total War titles, even your small towns have a garrison to rally to fight off an invader, but in ToB, an army can simply sneak into your town and you lose it. This ruins anything you built in the town, and still takes away your provincial dominance. When it happened the first time, I was done.

Apparently it is not fully compatible with Windows 11 as it is "an old game" and also wouldn't work in compatibility mode. Creative Assembly heavily updated the loyalty system in August 2018 which in my opinion ruined the game. No matter what faction you play you end up having more problems and battles with in house fighting than you do with the real enemies. Takes the fun out of the game and makes it a real slog and headache. Shame really!

A rare total war that is not a DLC scum-fest. Everything feels slower pace. You'll hit end-turn a lot more than in other total wars, but actual campaign length is pretty similar in terms of realtime spent. It's an unusual one with big changes to food, recruitment, and campaign movement speeds, but it's still a normal fun total war that is easily accessible.

It is barely a total war game. They really tried to do everything outside of the combat differently and it would be great. It would be absolutely amazing to have more politicking and logistical management if LITERALLY ANY OF IT WAS EXPLAINED AT ALL! It needs an entire tutorial campaign but it doesn't have one... Having played every Total War title since the original shogun, I actually really liked this entry into the franchise. It gets a lot of hate and maybe that's not unwarranted, but I think it's just different. One of the major complaints I believe is that minor towns/settlements don't even have battles. It's true. You just walk in and take them with your army. The AI does the same to you. This can be frustrating, especially at first, but if we're being honest: in the newer total war games…

That being said I think the game is the perfect blend of Atilla style battles with a more Medieval II type campaign in terms of being able to expand freely until a late game invasion crisis. A Total War game with a pretty good foundation, a likable setting, and some interesting ideas. Unfortunately, a drawn out campaign can get boring and samey pretty quick with pestering mechanics such as constant loyal-checking on your generals and administrators. One of the best games in the series. Don't let the negative reviews scare you away. Thrones of Britannia gets many things right, and in some ways it improves on previous entries. For example, you can't recruit a full 20/20 stack of elite infantry in a couple of turns, even if you have enough money. And recruiting takes time. Mechanics like these, with their focus on realism, make the campaign far more immersive and make you feel like you're actually waging a war rather than simply capturing…

IMO this is one of the best Total war games out there. This is scratching an itch that only Brytenwalda M&B and Viking Conquest M&B could scratch back in the day.

Why are no Black people in this game? Racism, clearly Like going to Baskin Robbins and they have 12 flavors of vanilla, disgusting and unathletic. Did you know the average ♥♥♥♥-size in Nigeria is 8.5 inches long? Well, let's just say this game certainly had no Nigerians on the developer teams Like many caucasian wives, I am left unimpressed, unsatisfied, and fingering myself to thoughts of Idris Elba. Buy at your own risk, also doesn't come with a live-in European serf as advertised 6/7 as a…

Still great game after quite some years, feels grounded and realistic, with fun battles and many interesting gameplay mechanics. A shame they didn't expand it further with DLC's.

Probably the "ugliest" total war game so far (I thought Three Kingdoms got the worst UI - I was wrong). Also game doesn't work well on the high end rigs - heats the gear more than TW Warhammer 3 with ultra settings, yet needs multiple workarounds just to keep more or less playable FPS.

This game is incredibly disappointing. It suffers from numerous bugs and technical issues, and the difficulty is laughably easy—even on Very Hard or Legendary settings. Some regions lack access to important buildings, and overall, the game is missing essential components that make it feel incomplete and unplayable. TOTAL TRASH, and a waste of your money just like all the other products this godawful company spews out.............

Suppose it has historical value and such, but its not particularly play able. You get to fight an army of 4 units at turn 1, but usually takes multiple turns to get more units and moving them to the next fight. the buildings feel unrewarding, and useless, since you get plenty of coin but need to build food resource. slow and sluggish campaing, and the battles arent particularly fun either. the special clan/family management of governors and estates is also lame. 1/5 for a Total war…
