What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 199 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (15,939 of 20,686 positive).
Players praise the chaotic open-world zombie smashing and weapon crafting. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the PC port has a 30fps cap and bugs that can delete saves. [4][5][6] Many find the game underrated and fun, especially in co-op. [7][8][9]

Warning to everyone wanting to play DR3 on PC, DO NOT BUY!!! This Port is trash. The graphics bug out, its locked at 30fps, there are more bugs than you can imagine. The game itself is great and I recommend playing it just not on PC. One very well know and awful bug that I just exp is when you start one of the DLC missions it will completely wipe all of your story data and set you back to lvl 1. There are some ways …

Yes I Recommend Dead Rising 3. Even tho its got its REALLY big problems. Pros. 1. Story is good 2. I like the Protagonist (Like all Dead Rising protagonists Nick is Wise and funny) 3. The psycho Paths are funny, and great. 4. Killing zombies feels really good 5. Love the level up system and combat system. 6. THE CO-OP IS SO GOOD when you have a friend to play it with :) HOWEVER cons. 1. Game is locked at 30fps and …

I think DR3 got a bad wrap when it first came out. After playing through the story with a friend I can say this game is an absolute blast. It's full of Capcom corniness while retaining a lot of humor that holds up surprisingly well in today's time. Nothing about the game felt frustrating to deal with and fun was to be had for most if not all of the playthrough. The only downside and warning I would say is that the …

Note: There will be spoilers in my review. First off, I'm a huge fan of DR1 and DR2. When DR3 came out, I literally bought an Xbox One for it, and I was very disappointed. Let’s start off with the bad. First, this is nothing like DR1 or DR2. It’s a GTA clone with zombies added, mixed with a vehicular combat game, and a sprinkle of DR2. Second, they completely destroy the lore from Dead Rising 1, Dead Rising 2, and …

Dead Rising 3 leans into chaotic, open-world zombie smashing, and honestly, it’s a blast. There are tons of weapons, tons of zombies, and plenty of over-the-top moments. It’s not the most serious entry, but the freedom and crafting make it ridiculously fun to mess around in.

80% of the 199 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition. The complaint that keeps coming up: pC port locked at 30fps; tweaking needed for higher. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Dead Rising 3 received "generally positive" reviews at release, according to review aggregator website Metacritic. GameSpot gave it a 7/10 and said that "Capcom has successfully made Dead Rising 3 a more welcoming experience than its harsh predecessors." While GameSpot praised the silliness and replay value, it criticized the minimal variety and the technical hiccups. IGN gave the game an 8.3/10, saying that "Dead Rising 3 delivers the undead and great tools to kill them with by the truckload." While they enjoyed the number of zombies on screen and the co-op, they critiqued the performance issues and the padding. GameZone's Jake Valentine gave it a 7/10, stating "Dead Rising 3 is a…

Fun zombie apocalypse mayhem, insane combo weapons, and cartoony vibes… plus a timer constantly breathing down my neck while I ran errands for Chuck’s kid. Most of the gameplay stayed indoors. Stressful fun, but still stress. In contrast, DR3 felt like a breath of fresh air. Big open city, no clock yelling at you, just pure zombie breakout chaos at your own pace. Same dumb, glorious weapon and vehicle crafting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Rising 3 is a decent zombie game, but is nothing like the prior games of the series. The fun and soul of the game is gone. We go from Frank West and Chuck Green, both oddballs and bravado in their own way, to a whiny and weak willed protagonist, with fickle 'friends' and a nonsense story that makes each character less likable as you progress. There is not one character in this entire game that I liked, villain or otherwise. The protagonist is milquetoast, companions are insufferable, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →extremely underrated. the map is very fun to go around especially with the combo cars, the story is amazing nick is a very likable main character aswell as the other side characters you meet. i love how the psychopaths are all based on the 7 deadly sins definitely makes them more interesting

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If they remaster this in the future, buy the original as they will most definitely censor the remaster. One of the most enjoyable Co-op campaigns out there. Definitely worth it, when its on sale. Would recommend you don't play this solo as it will be less enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My mom got me this on the Xbox one back in the day, so I have a lot of positive memories from this game. I love you mom, and I’m very happy to have you in my life and mold me into the person I am. But honestly? Pick up on sale. 3rd best dead rising. It’s just a bit too easy I think. Would do the harder modes for a real dead rising experience. Might be my personal favorite 5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ABSOLUTE PEAK!!! Though you need to do some basic and easy tweaking in the game files to get 60 fps cuz the game is capped at 30 fps, the game is mostly... PEAK AF!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honest to god wanted to like this game despite heading into it with pretty low expectations and honestly? It's a mix of fun gameplay and a miasma of bland Zombie story and character tropes, tedious objectives and a bland, crappy open world filled with recipes that you won't use half the time because they either A. Already gave you the most tankiest van with both a mounted shotgun cannon and blades on the side to carve through hordes. or B. You have the DLC in which case you can just go to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ENG / RUS IS YOUR NUMBER 33 OR 55? Dead Rising 3, released in 2013, is the third installment in the popular zombie fighting series set in surreal conspiracy and survival events. Despite the fact that the game has largely moved away from the original roots of survival action and turned into a typical open world, it still has many advantages that make it worth paying attention to, although the top three does not surpass the gorgeous first part entirely. First of all, it's worth noting that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition is a game I finished, mostly solo, and while I don’t regret playing it, I also never felt the urge to return to it. The game takes a more playful and chaotic approach to zombies. It’s over-the-top, ridiculous, and clearly not trying to be a serious survival experience. In that sense, it works. Crafting absurd weapons, mowing down hordes, and embracing the madness can be genuinely fun. It’s a different tone compared to more grounded zombie games, and I respect…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love this game such a fun time waster game i can pick it up play for a while and then drop it for a while before coming right back to kill more zombies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of all the Dead rising games, and there are 4 i think. This is one of the better ones. The campain is big,the weapon selection is endless .The amount of zombies on screen at any one time is ridiculous .You can use vehicles to mow them all down .You can create vehicles or weapons to obliterate them all.The game is a very good undead game. And you will get lots of enjoyment out of it. My rating for this excellent game is 8.5 out of 10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is probably the best out of all the Dead Rising franchise. Getting this game is just enough, balanced difficulty, interesting bosses and good storyline. Yeah..... not biased LOL

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The city feels large and varied, with plenty to explore, from abandoned streets to hidden safehouses. Unlike earlier entries, the world is more seamless, making exploration smoother and more immersive. Players are constantly rewarded for exploring with new weapons, blueprints, and engaging side missions.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games really fun, runs 45fps on the steam deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Laggy as hell. I lowered the graphics and visual settings, but it did not help. It won't let me lower the resolution to 2k , and play in full screen mode. I'm pretty sure there's an easy fix for this. I'm not going to try, though. It already looks depressing in the intro, and I hated those years. Obviously, Dead Rising 3 is not better than Dead Rising 2. Dead Rising 2 has bright colors. It felt ALIVE. I'm sorry. 3/5
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Main story wise amazing fun game. DO NOT touch the untold stories, they're untold for a reason. Repetitive fetch and drive back and forth missions. You're better off just looking up the small story parts online. If you're still interested in trying them, I only suggest the 1st and 4th of the stories.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →lots of cool updates from DR2: more weapon blueprints, an open world experience, can inventory heavier weapons like bears and carts, player attribute system can be maxed at lvl 50, combine blueprints for cars, and so much more!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EXTREMELY overhated. Yes, the first two games (specifically my GOAT Dead Rising 2) are better, but this game is a lot of fun. My only advice is to buy it on sale.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Coming back to this game after 12 years since last playing, I was reminded quickly how fun this game could be. The stress of any Dead Rising game where it basically pummels with needing to do as much progress you need to get done is the grind. But you'll be able to clock in pretty quickly with blueprints, survivor side missions if ya a returning player. One thing I do need to note is how like a ported Capcom Game, it's bound to have bugs. - Rubber Banding during the Diego Psycho fight -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Waste of time, the game is boring and stupid. My progress reset to zero because of a glitch. Save your money and time by not getting this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this game as a kid, loved it. Played it again as an adult, loved it. It however is not as good as Dead Rising 2 imo. It doesn't have as much charm. What it does have though is awesome as ♥♥♥♥ game play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not sure if i'm playing the same game as all of these positive reviews but this game is very bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay looks fun but the PC porting is atrocious and artificially unlocking the FPSs breaks everything else
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely love this game, it takes the core aspects from the first two and just build upon that even more an a more open world big city setting. Plenty of replay-ability with different endings and tons off collectibles hidden around the map (if you're into stuff like that) If you've got the clams to spare or catch it on sale its 100% worth the purchase.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Screw you, Joshua. I like this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Rising 3 is mediocre, it's nothing special. I don't really recommend that people play it especially since the first two games have more than enough content to last you a good while. I'd only say people have an actual investment into the DR franchise give it a try. I like the characters, they're fine. Nick starting out as a little ♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ then evolving into a badass is a cool trait of the game. Combo vehicles are cool, but honestly it's not something that is a big enough selling point…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable crap locked to some ridiculous framerate for no reason forever. Go to hell.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →in my opinion this is the best dead rising game i even love the extra dlc stories and its co-op which is peak. if you want a chill dead rising game thats not to difficult and is fun and coop play this one bro its peak trust me and the psychos are so fun to play against.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Rising 3 is just a hilariously mind numbing game. Every 5 minutes and every time there's a new gameplay mechanic introduced I can only think of "Who wanted this ? Who thought this was a good idea ?". A Dead Rising game where you don't even escort survivors, they just go home themselves ! Controlling Nick feels like he's a 2 ton tank rather than a person, it's so clunky and unpleasant compared to the lightweight and satisfying controls of Dead Rising 1 and 2. Why is the camera always…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've has issues with Dead Rising 1 and 2. I found the gameplays clunky and frustrating. Dead Rising 3 addresses most of my issues and is an overall improvement. Good game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Generally 7/10 but for me 9/10 or perhaps 10.5/10 thank you such a lovely and thoughtful ZApocali game and slightly more wholesome than dead rising 4 ! :D , if I had time I would have played it more , also dead rising 2 OTR didnt click for me even tho it was one of fav , would you please create dead rising 5 or better remasters for dead rising 2 OTR and 3

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FPS & FOV tweaks are a MUST to play this game. Have experienced some crashes, however with that said with an old cheap game is it surprisingly a hell of a lot of fun, particularly on co-op mode. I think Capcom, like most AAA gaming studios these days, are completely blind to the potential gold mine they are sat on... Give us a great Dead Rising 3 remake, or a new Dead Rising game with the story and vibe of Dead Rising 1 & 2 mixed with the co-operative functionality of Dead Rising 3, I'm…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After finishing Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record I had high expectations these were not directly fulfilled in the sense of similarity but I would say that this game is still amazing and an absolute blast It has a different shift and approach compared to the previous games but the large open world city and especially the combat vehicles were a nice addition I hear people complain about the fact that you need to go across the map for several missions but thats something I personally enjoyed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a solid, no-stress hack and slash zombie game. You jump in, mow down hordes, craft ridiculous weapons, and just have fun. It’s not trying to be deep or serious. If you want to turn your brain off and smash zombies for a few hours, this game delivers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE THIS GAME!!! SUPER FUN!!! love that it was kind of a sequel to 1 and 2!!! I LOVE U NICK AND CHUCK WOW REUNION!!! #PLOTTWIST!!!! I had SO much fun finding all the collectibles and changing clothes and doing the pp trials also. such a silly and cool game!!! LOVED getting to drive the cars around !!! also the ai for the survivors is sooo much better!! but they are SO slow when it comes to getting in cars 😭. I also didn't love the survivor mechanic, but way better than just keeping them…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. There are way more combo weapons than Dead Rising 2 and the inclusion of combo vehicles was brilliant. The RoadHog and Thrasher were my 2 favorite combo vehices. I also liked the inclusion of safehouses with resupply cabinets to get more weapons. This is a huge upgrade from the first 2 games. It was also fun to collect blueprints and the little Frank statues. This honestly might be my favorite game from the franchise, but Dead Rising 1 is still a great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was absolute chaos in the best way. You do not seem games like this in 2025. What an amazing genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →terrible port, if your game is over 60fps then good luck aiming or anything else that requires right click. oh and you if you wanna fix it, get ready to fix it every time you play the game or it just happens again. not only that, this game just does not have the same feel to DR/DR2. don't waste your money and play the first two games instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just another game with no justification for 20+ shotgun shots directly into a humans head doesn't kill them. Trash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Totally uninteresting game with only one "advantage" over the competition: zombies everywhere. They sure went all in on the population, hoping that would be a good thing. It isn't. It's just hack 'n slash, trying to muster up enough enthusiasm on which NPCs to save and who to brain with whatever tool available on the ground. It's the fastfood of zombie games and not very tasty either. Sorry. Really liked the first in the series.
