What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 257 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (11,884 of 12,739 positive).
Players praise the game's tense atmosphere and terrifying stalker enemy. [1][2][3] Many compare it favorably to Alien Isolation and Resident Evil. [4][5][6] Some find the monster too aggressive or the saving system frustrating. [7][8][9]

I'm gonna start by saying that I might have ruined my first pt by playing it on hard and made it much less fun than it could have been because of how few resources there are in the game (and how fast fuel runs out), which makes dying and reloading often more convenient than wasting ammo, grenades and also time by waiting around for the monster to go away. This is made worse by the extremely limited inventory space, …

The best Amnesia, and its not even close. Less ""walking sim"" like the previous ones tend to be, and more actual game with things to worry and think about beyond a sanity meter and enemies that respawn if you lose too much. Enemies do not despawn this time, and its Alien Isolation + Resident Evil inventory. Shorter than prior games, but a lot more to do, and NG+ with a massive list of things to tweak. No auto saves …

An incredibly strong and impressive survival horror game. I absolutely love the atmosphere. It feels dark, claustrophobic and manages to build an incredible amount of tension throughout the entire game. The monster was genuinely terrifying and kept me paranoid the whole time. I constantly felt like it could be anywhere. Sneaking through the narrow corridors, staying quiet and trying not to make a single mistake was …

If you loved alien isolation, this is a must play, if you see it on sale for 60% off or more grab it, you cant go wrong. Playing this with the gamma settings properly calibrated so darkness is actually just pitch black was an incredible experiance, it made me value light as a resource more then any other game ive played and made me commit to memory the halls and rooms of the bunker.

Amnesia: The Bunker is the latest entry in the franchise that looks to change up the formula that ultimately panned out for Frictional Games. I’ll start by highlighting how the atmosphere is one of the best aspects, as it truly gives the eerie vibes that make players terrified throughout their journey in the bunker. This sense of helplessness is felt even more in the higher difficulties. Now, to complement the …

Critics, per Wikipedia
Amnesia: The Bunker received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, except for PlayStation 4, which received "mixed or average" reviews, according to review aggregator website Metacritic. While criticizing the monster AI as mediocre, IGN liked the pressure the game put on the player through the limited amount of generator fuel, "What this means is every trip out into the far corners of the bunker comes with a sense of urgency and purpose". GameSpot praised the tension present in the resource management mechanics of the game, writing, "All resources are finite, so using any of them must come with good reason or else you're damning yourself to failure". GamesRadar+ felt the story was…

neutral · AI labelView post →As someone who has never played Amnesia before, I really enjoyed this one. At first I thought that this game took the Resident Evil formula and just made a few changes. And although it can feel similar (especially since you play in an open area with a focus on resource management), Amnesia The Bunker does significant things differently, which makes it more unique. Here, the items are randomly placed and some situations can be solved in different ways. This creates a nice sense of immersion…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best horror game I played in 2025, yeah I know the game has been out for two years already, but I finally tried it and oh boy, what an experience. From the claustrophobia of the bunker itself to the relentless pursuit of the stalker, this game has it all. The puzzles remind me a lot of Resident Evil, as does the inventory system, so you need to decide often which item you want to keep and what to leave behind. And sometimes that decision could mean the difference between life and death. The…

neutral · AI labelView post →Personally, this game is just not for me. I played every Amnesia title, and after a really disappointing experience with Rebirth, I was hoping this would be a return to form. In some ways, it is. I think the biggest problem is that it's just not scary anymore. Once you are comfortable with the first Amnesia game's horror, this one just doesn't hit the same. Once the horror is gone, all that's left is a big "hurry up and wait" game. Monster comes, wait for him to leave. Set off a trap, wait for…

neutral · AI labelView post →Almost cried when John Amnesia said, "I'll be in my bunkie." And he went to the bunker. Amazing game, atmospheric and scary. Your goal is to escape the bunker and means to do so scattered across the facility. Explore and unlock crucial tools for survival and progressing further, gather loot and keep that engine running; the beast is afraid of the lights. Perfectly paced for a spooky game, not short and not long to get you fatigued from horrors. New Game+ and custom difficulty could be a nice…
