60 of 112 · most liked firstThis is a very hesitant thumbs up. I think the bones of this game are great, but it needed a little more time in EA. The positives- if you want Spellrogue but with dice crafting, this is the game for you. The dice crafting in this is smooth and extremely satisfying. The enemies are interesting, the bosses are pretty cool, the spells are nice. There's just two problems: 1. Lack of variety. Sure, there are a lot of spells, but particularly for the pyromancer, a lot of them are very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The final boss was so tragic. I won't spoil it, but it circumvents a bunch of mechanics. It's trivial to beat when forewarned, but when you're playing blind you'll likely get there with a bunch of abilities that won't interact meaningfully with it. Which is a shame, because I was enjoying those mechanics!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Archon Soul just launched. First impressions: the soul-link mechanic is the most original thing in the game and also the thing the tutorial barely explains. #indiegames #actionrpg #newrelease
positive · AI labelView post →I played a good amount of the demo for this game and helped play test one of the other characters, and I gotta say this one is really special. The full release adds so many new ways to build your dice, new encounters, and fantastic art. The gameplay is tactical, engagingly difficult without being punishing, and pulls together some of my favorite elements of other fantastic roguelikes with a really unique dice building mechanic that will have you constantly thinking of ways to improve your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a hard pass. 3 starting dice is insane. You need at least 5 to enjoy the game. There isn't any equipment, artifacts, abilities, traits, etc - nothing you'd expect from a game like this. I knew this going in, but the whole card + dice customization is a massive slog and annoying as hell to deal with. Everything is 10x more expensive than it should be. Its extremely restrictive, enough to make is anti fun. In fact, after playing the game I am considering the whole "There's hurr durr…

This one features my first successful run through to the first boss in the game. #archonsoul #videogames #indiegames #roguelike #gameplay #playthrough
positive · AI labelView post →Interesting combination of Slay the Spire and Dicey Dungeons. Build a deck of spells while also crafting dice to match; you can change dice pips and also enchant sides with abilities. There is some nice synergy you can get between your spell cards and the dice faces. Works well on the Steam Deck, except text can be a bit small.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you love deckbuilder roguelites like I do, DO NOT SLEEP on this one. The dice-tinkering subgenre is so tiny baby small still and it's so exciting to see a game explore so much all at once so soon. It plays like a successor to Dicey Dungeons, with some DNA from Die in the Dungeon, Astrea:Six-Sided Oracles, and Slay the Spire, but it's working with tons of ideas that don't appear in any of those, and what is borrowed is substantially different. Everything in archon soul feels fresh and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edit: beat it at 11 hour mark. Excited ot actually use the new character i unlocked and try again. Worth the money of a few MTG packs to play a game i can get better at and feel like i strategized my way to win. NOW for the TRUE victory... Game has character. Fun mechanics, interesting customization of dice, plenty of choices. What's not to like for less than the cost of a Chipotle meal. Edit: Game continues to get better and better. One of the only rogue likes that actually feels like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and engaging card game, reminds me of Spellrogue (one of the reasons I decided to try this). However, there are many unique features in this game that set it apart. Dice rolling is my favourite RNG mechanic and you can easily manipulate any dice value to be beneficial to you. It takes some time to get used to characters and spell because they are not straight forward like in most games. Graphics style is pleasant and tooltips are informative.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heya folks, here's a 1st short featuring a new indie deckbuilding roguelike called Archon Soul. Goblinz Studio sent me an e-mail about the game so I could feature it on my channels. I plan to do a 10 minute video for it too. #archonsoul #videogames #indiegames #roguelike #shorts #gameplay
neutral · AI labelView post →I love this game. Very few games have captivated my like this one. I like how each character is unique and also how each character has different builds to try out. This also means there isn't one spell you need to crutch on, it's more like "oh a bunch of sandstorm spells guess I'm doing a sandstorm run", and I really enjoy that versatility and freedom. I also appreciate the developer listening to and interacting with the community. There was some feedback about Thaumancer being complicated to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve never played games like this before—not even "Slay the Spire". And honestly, I didn't think this kind of game was for me. Hmm... I guess I was wrong. It’s a good thing there was a demo; otherwise—even though it only costs about 10 dollars—I’m not sure I would have even tried it. What can I say? I completely lost track of time while playing—for almost a whole day. I love it. <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The mechanics are interesting but it's a slog. Each turn is a grind. It's essentially Slay the Spire with dice and worse graphics. It has some really unique synergies but it's a case of quantity over quality.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely Spell Rogue-like, which is good, I love that game. I agree with people saying the builds are a little 'on-rails', but for $10 the game is amazing. Buy it, support these dudes, if you like this genre at all you won't regret it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Many fun mechanics, but the gameplay is very unforgiving and some runs feel a bit too luck-based to be enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun at first but pretty soon you realize only one build is viable and experimenting gets crushed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very satisfying dice deck builder. It reminds me of a cross between Slay the Spire and SpellRogue. You can switch can pick different spells and swap between them between battles to use what you think would be best against that opponent. There are tons of different strategies and synergies to try out. So far I'm really enjoying this. If you enjoy deck/dice builders you will like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe the only game (besides StS and StS2) that scratches that StS itch for me
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun little game that feels like a mash of Slay the Spire and Dicey Dungeons. I enjoyed that each class had its own unique feel and gimmicks to lean into. Though I will say that the enemy on the third floor who instantly gameovers you after 5 turns was a rude pull for my stall build gaiamancer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its an amazing game that you should play. 10$ is a steal
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun dice-based rogue-like. You have four characters to choose from and each has their own unique builds. The game is largely well-balanced and the enemies are fun to fight. Over the course of each run, you get to modify the faces of each of your dice, along with the dice "bodies" which add their own effects, plus runes (adding more affects) and your spells. There are plenty of viable combinations but the combat is still decently challenging. This makes each run feel unique and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels quite fresh. I have been looking for a dice roguelike with an appealing visual style and so far I really like the vibe of the art direction AND the gameplay feels deep enough. Very important for me to mention: the upgrades are frequent and feel meaningful so that they motivate you to try them out in the next battle right away, so it manages to get this crucial thing about roguelikes right.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is fun, effectively. Lots of options, fun build paths, etc. Would love to see more "bridge" spells to make a few of the different builds for each character more interconnected, but fun game with lots of trade-offs every encounter. Seems like a really good foundation to build upon for a more fleshed out game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unexpected depth, the combination of cards and dice is very versatile. Love the differences between characters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's good for what it is. A little easy, but that makes it fast to learn. Will give you a day or two of fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →needs work, doesn't stick for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This could be an amazing Game, but it is way too difficult. IT s so difficult that IT IS unfair, imo.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In its current state it is easily worth the price point if you're a fan of Slay the Spire or other roguelike deckbuilders. Similar to SpellRogue or Die in the Dungeon with the added randomness of literal dice rolls, and enjoyed the variety of die types and runes. I'll be coming back for updates that I assume will build upon the game (I'd love additional characters or alternative bosses), but would also love small changes (being able to upgrade dice beyond 9 even if adding to the DV value for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Might be a good game, but then the game hit you with a curse dice by the enemy, that *read notes* WILL NOT BE DESTROYED AFTER USE(NOT FLEETING) THAT STAYS WITH YOU FOR THE WHOLE FIGHT, THAT WILL ALSO WILL BE PLAYED AT THE END TURN REGARDLESS IF YOU PLAY THE DICE OR DID NOT USE IT AT ALL DURING YOUR TURN. And also get this, *read second note* THE REDUCE DAMAGE DEBUFF IN THIS GAME JUST FLAT OUT REDUCE YOUR DAMAGE BY THE VALUE OF THE DEBUF. What's weird about this? IMAGINE A CURSE DICE THAT…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This gives me the vibe of once encountering Slay the Spire, which I guess is a good signal. Looking forward to game with higher difficulties
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is oozing with style Makes you think which I like. It's more geared towards experienced deckbuilder players who like a challenge. Pretty fun that there are at least 3 classes that are each themed differently. In what it's lacking: reactivity (animations, sounds, UI animations, etc.). Game has tons of development potential, whether it is content or the above-mentioned. Was fun getting through it on each character, and I'll probably come back to try the higher difficulties as updates come…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be clear, I played very few games in the tactical roguelike (card/dice) category (slay the spire and monster train) and I have no idea how archon soul compares to the rest of the games in this category (and there are plenty of them). As an amateur of tactical games however, I found the challenge interesting (even at base difficulty). You can’t go through the run hoping you will naturally scale (the game offers an additional dice after each boss). The numbers on the enemies (hp and attack…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i like roguelikes and gambling, and this is a great combination of the 2. it looks a lot like slay the spire and im not sure whether thats a good thing or not. i love how there are all kinds of viable builds and they all give you the feeling of overpoweredness, which is great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes. https://youtu.be/i4xMEN7S3K8
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As creative an original as Slay the Spire at launch. If you're into deckbuilders this is a MUST play. Definitely worth the cheap price tag.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Are you looking for a bite-sized Slay the Spire fix ? Well, look no further ; Archon Soul is where it's at. You can clearly see the influence not only in the concept, but also in the music, sound design, UI, animations, etc ... with the exception of the art style being more reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon. That said, because Archon Souls uses skills & dice instead of the well known cards approach, it is able to set itself apart from StS gameplay-wise, in ways that i personally enjoy quite a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved Slay the Spire 1, but 2 did not do it for me. But then came, Archon Soul. Each character has a unique playstyle/gimmick and there are lot of fun dice combinations and synergies to experiment with. On sale or not, it is totally worth the price ($10 for this banger of a game). Hoping for more content in the future like more boss variety, cosmetics (other than buying the Supporter Pack), and characters/spells/dice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →#34: Archon Soul Dicebuilder Roguelike! I had a lovely time playing with the unique characters, lovely game. Took about twelve hours to get the uh, final ending? The postgame daunts me with its immediate total openness. I don’t know if I’ll keep going. Countdown/10
positive · AI labelView post →By far the best of the dice based deckbuilders I've played. Great artwork, solid mechanics, and a large variety of spells/dice with a huge focus on creating synergies. Despite being dice-based, RNG feels low compared to other games in the genre since you have access to all of your spells and have lots of ways to influence odds. It's on the easier side for the genre, but still well worth the playthrough.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun, can recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love yatzy. . . Wait, this isnt yatzy?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imbalanced, shallow and boring. Starts repeating itself during tutorial run. Gave it a chance but it just doesn't get better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For anybody who loves Darkest Dungeon's artwork and wished for Slay the Spire to become its wyrd offspring.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun twist on ideas originating in Slay the Spire. Many of the player decisions feel more interesting to me than the StS design. For example, I like that you have a choice between investing your early upgrades to die faces, bodies, and runes to help with early fights, or saving them to produce some truly broken dice later. It's still early days, both for this game and my journey with it, but there is an extremely solid gameplay foundation here that I'm excited to explore and see…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This feels like a roguelike + puzzle game combined into one with the hero/enemies abilities. As of this review, the game has a good amount of build varieties to explore, although the enemies encounters are on the lighter side, especially the bosses. I do hope that there will be more enemies in the future but what already here is very good and worth your money
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is fantastic so far! A really awesome take on the dice roguelike genre and art style is killer. It's like a more playful Darkest Dungeon look. The only thing I'll say is that the 3340p resolution setting pushes important UI elements off the visible portion of the screen, but it may just be for me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →only a couple hours in, but its good so far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best dice builder and I am not sure it is even close.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As the demo hinted at, this is a VERY smart card and dice (!) turn-based tactical game. One of the best.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was going to play some more game demos anyway, so I figured I might as well go live while I do it! Come join me for a couple more of these Next Fest demos, starting with Archon Soul! I think it's like Slay the Spire with dice, but it's been like a week since I installed it so I could be wrong 😅
neutral · AI labelView post →More Archon Soul for you! This was a great run from stream the other night, and the dev was even in chat to provide some insight on the game. youtu.be/DoE-EtsUo4w?...
positive · AI labelView post →Love the format. Similar to SpellRogue.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had enough fun that it was definitely worth the money spent, and would gladly do it again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrific spin on the Slay the Spire formula. Crafting your own dice and card builds is great fun, and there are plenty of ways to help control the inherent randomness. Lovely aesthetic, visuals and sounds are excellent. Fourth character provides some really meaty build options.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely fantastic game, after 100+ hours i finally have all of the achievements. I wish there was a guide helping out on some of them because there is no online help to know what runes/bodies were still missing. Despite that I have completed it and it feels good. Hoping more content will come out for this. In the meantime i have 2 spells left to uncover (with no way of knowing which spells they are), but after that i will probably end up starting a new save and going back from the beginning.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →11 hours to beat with all 4 characters (yet I go hard on deck builder games,,,). Short for me, but very enjoyable -- might give a revisit, but prob not as there are only so many bosses and baddies. It hit the Slay the Spire fix rather nicely and I would recommend it. It is a tight game with nice customization, just not as much depth and challenge as Slay the Spire.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun , nice combos . You can build some serious damage , i like that in a game like this.
