The negative reviews for this game are spot-on. The online multiplayer is dead, so if you want to play the Battle Royale mode you'll need to do so against a bunch of AI opponents. The single player modes aren't very good. The visual style is off-putting. There are far better Arkanoid games than this. There's a reason why a game that's less than a year old is now on sale for 90% off.

For a start its way overpriced, you get less than 80 single player levels across 2 campaigns (Retro & Neo) and then some very basic levels are used for the 25 player battle royale & versus mode. The battle royale has this stupid boss with a ridiculous time limit, matches are like 15 minutes long and you have to outplay 24 other players just to get to this boss and then your win is stolen because you got bad RNG or …

I only recommend this game if it goes to $10. Steep sale. $30? Not a chance. As much as I love Arkanoid and have been waiting Years for them to bring something to PC; this ain't it. They could've done a collection of all the Arkanoid games for $30 and that'd have a better chance at selling than this. This just feels like a cash grab. Really? Another battle royale? Tetris.. The price point is mind-boggling. For now, I'm happy to play it until the free-trial version expires. I wouldn't pay 30 bucks for it, but I'm not saying it's a bad game. It's good. The eternal play setting is awesome and it's a great multiplayer idea. $15 bucks and I'm sold.

Played for free during the first few days of the game's release. For its current price to content ratio, I can't justify spending $30 for four modes of play (minus one since I rarely play local multiplayer). Battle Royale is dead on arrival as a result of being locked behind such a wall. It's a shame, too, since I enjoyed playing the game in full. While others have reported crashes and other issues (there are some critiques like the curved monitor in Retro -- this, I agree with having options…

This tribute to the 80's classic is probably better than you think. Most negative reviews are based on high difficulty (maybe true?) and the dead online multiplayer mode (true). There are three more modes to try out however (neo, retro & vs), so the decision is entirely up to the player. A cautious recommendation, especially for when on sale (it's already seen a 90% discount, so if you missed it, it's worth waiting for the next one). 7/10

this game really needs to go free-to-play (just for the battle royale mode) in order to not be immediately DOA. the fact that even during a free weekend on launch day lobbies are still barely filling up is very concerning for this game's future. besides that, the value really isn't there for $30. all you get is a battle royale mode, singleplayer + local versus modes, and the original arcade Arkanoid (which is directly comparable to Tetris 99's $10 DLC and Pac-Man 99's $15 DLC - though, to be…

I got it for a bit of nostalgia, but this is just an overpriced and under cooked cash grab. I don't care much that the multiplayer mode is dead, but the "retro" and "neo" modes aren't good at all. The first problem is controls and options. There is no keyboard support at all. There is no way to customise or tweak the mouse or gamepad controls. The second problem is the game play. There is no easy/normal/hard setting and the game just scales up way too fast for my old reflexes. There's also…

Such a poor quality, basic remake with zero innovation and no meaningful gameplay advances from three decades ago. Lacklustre graphics, and the same, instantly forgettable generic EDM soundtrack playing in the background over and over and over again. And a mediocre and apparently hastily slapped together UI, without even a proper pause options menu - you just get the choice to quit, no option to change your graphics or sound or anything. And no, multiplayer isn't an innovation - that's been…

I'm going to ask for a refund on this title. 🎬Gameplay Video🎬 https://youtu.be/NOCo7bu6QSQ 🤔Overall Impressions🤔 I love Arkanoid type games, and this one is flashy enough with nice sound effects and graphics, but for some bizarre reason they have made the ball speed up over time until it gets impossibly hard. I could maybe understand if the ball got faster over a long period of time, but it happens quite quickly, and it becomes a case of relying on power ups or a bit of luck to clear…

When reviewing a game, the price point is an important piece of data and must be factored in to the review. People want to know, is a modern Arkanoid game worth the $30? A bit of context, I played the game during the 2-day free period, and lost access to play it until it went on sale for $2.99. I liked Arkanoid in the arcades, and decided to give it a shot. I started with Retro mode, which is a faithful reproduction of the arcade game. The levels are exactly the same, the only real…

Sadly full of bugs, at least on release. This was free to play during the first day or so of release, so I gave it a quick try. Ran into issues in so little time that I just uninstalled it. This was not ready for release. Maybe they can fix it. I played the Retro mode and on level 2 got the power-up that opens a little hole in the side that warps you to the next level. Left the ball in place for a while, as it was up top and still scoring me points. Went through the door as the ball came…

I wish I had never decided to 100% this game: a frustrating, repetitive, and thoroughly unenjoyable experience. The main issue boils down to a single achievement that requires you to win 25 matches. Let’s take a minute to break down what a typical match looks like, step by step: - 1 minute waiting in the lobby, where only bots show up because the game is effectively dead (in 15 hours I’ve encountered just 3 real players); - around 10 minutes of completely effortless gameplay, due to…

I bought this for $3. I'm only recommending it because it was so cheap and only for the 1986 mode. Neo sucks. Has weird issues with the trails on the balls and just looks like bawlz. I wish they had some of the other old Arkanoid games. Buy it for $3 if you like Arkanoid, but don't pay more. Space Invaders Extreme this is not. Edit 06/05/2023 As of this edit, Breakout Recharged is $5. If you like blockbuster games, pay the extra two dollars to get a good one

Arkanoid: Eternal Battle delivers a fun mix of classic brick-breaking gameplay and modern competitive chaos. The core mechanics feel smooth and nostalgic, while the updated visuals and power-ups give the game a fresh twist. The 25-player Battle Royale mode is surprisingly intense and adds a unique layer of pressure that keeps each match exciting. However, the experience heavily depends on having active players online, which can make the multiplayer feel a bit empty at times. Overall, it's a…

I've tried this game while it was free for Halloween weekend and there is NO WAY I am ever paying $35 CAD for this. I would not even spend $20 on this if it was on special 40% off! I loved playing Arkanoid growing up in the 80's and this game is well made but extremely over priced. It will just have to stay on my wish list for now until there is a really good sale.

I like Arkanoid, I've been playing it since the late 80s, and this is not a very good version. Here are the details I don't like: 1) The stupid screen filters that try to simulate CRT but only make it look bad. I'd rather get the game screen displayed normally without curved borders or any of that. Also the game could take a lot more of the surface of the screen, at least the full vertical space and half of the horizontal space leaving one of the sides for high score and lives, or maybe center…

I love Arkanoid, but this really isn't it. I mainly got this for a legit way to play the original Arkanoid, but the original version in this is displayed warped to appear like an old CRT screen with obnoxious glowy CRT effects and a huge arcade cabinet bezel. It's not possible to just have the game full-screen. The "Neo" version of the game is just okay, but the difficulty is way unbalanced and the frustration factor is through the roof compared to the original. Lots of extra graphical flair…

Very disappointed. The mainline attraction is dead because it relies on people playing online, the offline mode is way too hard too quickly as the ball speed gets stupid fast, the original game is confined with an ugly arcade border that looks terrible, achievements suck, the music feels quickly slapped together, ugh. All we needed was the pacman championship edition treatment but instead we got...this.

Just tested this game during the 24hr free play and one big thing I would change is using the mouse to move left and right. It would be much better if arrow keys were used. I may still be able to make the game work on my Steam arcade cabinet but it would be better if both going through the menu and in game used arrow keys. Other than that, I feel this is a good game and look forward to testing it more before the free play time period expires.

Candidly, I find it astonishing that the developers are charging such an exorbitant price, for what looks to me like an aesthetically fancy and futuristic version of Pong. And lo and behold, if such a price is too little for your overflowing pockets, they even have the audacity to charge DLC, hooraye! If you love and want the original Arkanoid, forget about "Arkanoid - Eternal Battle". Imagine someone takes the picture of your beloved grandpa who fought heroicly in the war and would draw him into a fancy spacesuit to make him look like he fought Dino-riding Nazis on the Moon, because it looks more modern and way cooler. Arkanoid - Eternal Battle is a modern version of the 1986 block breaker retro Arcade game Arkanoid. It looks quite good and feels nice to play on the outset. What ruins the game play is that the ball becomes way too fast quickly and impossible to keep up with it. But there are two other things that have completely ruined this game in my opinion and therefore I cannot recommend it: 1) The game is way too overpriced. Having played it, it's easy to see why Taito didn't put their name on this game. It is basically unplayable on PC with a mouse because they've put in some sort of wacky paddle acceleration that makes the paddle speed up as you move the mouse. Supposedly this was done so that PC users wouldn't have an unfair advantage when playing against people on other platforms.Or maybe an unfair disadvantage. It's so broken that it's really hard to figure out what they were thinking. Whatever the reason,…

TLDR: It's okay but wait for a sale So I've actually been excited about this game for months. I was a huge fan of the Arkanoid: Revenge of DOH on my family's Tandy TL/2 1000 back in the day and the idea of a modernized version in the vein of Tetris 99 or whatever, leveraging some modern graphics to bring some life to the old brickbreaker format with some new crazy powerups was very excited. The gameplay is still really good and is the arkanoid you know and enjoy, but the replay value is very poor on this one, nothing to keep me coming back. Easily the worst part about the game's replay value is the lack of level select or checkpoint system, once you exit a mode, that's it, you start all over from the beginning, you cannot choose any…

This had a lot of potential, and ultimately it did not succeed. The $30 price point, combined with almost zero advertising, scared off almost everyone who might have tried it. At most I only ever had a game with 14 players in it, and that was right after launch. Cons - No option to fine tune sensitivity. Ito only has level 1 to 5. I am in the position where 2 is too slow while 3 is too fast. - The retro version of Arkanoid for NES or arcade is not even full screen and presented as POV in front of an arcade cabinet. - Semi-transparent background where when you change position during PvP, you can see your opponents’ screens passing through; which is quite disruptive. - When you are near the last position in PvP, the red color pallete is very hard to look…

And it reaches this speed in short order. It really doesn't feel fair or fun On top of that, the emulation of the original Arkanoid is not fullscreen, and it's visually corrupted with curvature

Sadly no. I loved the original Arkanoid but did it have a slightly curved screen? Honestly don't remember but it irritates me here. I like the Eternal idea and the gameplay in general but too much going on on the screen for me. I'd need options to turn off the various effects - mainly a nice clean screen instead of this CRT effect. And the bar that pops up right in the middle of the screen when a player gets eliminated is v annoying.

This is a great game. The sound and graphics are amazing. Even the screeching zeros that descended upon the game when it was free to give their worthless game design, marketing and biz advice more or less avoided the topic of how it looks and sounds, and that's because both are incredible. It's a gorgeous experience with a soundtrack that I'd buy separately. But more, this game was created by people that obviously have or developed a lot of fondness for Arkanoid as an experience and…

It's Arkanoid. The online mode was populated by mostly bots. Should be priced similar to Atari's Recharged series. $15 tops.

I understand some of the mixed reviews for Arkanoid: Eternal Battle. Although it is impressive the game is cross-platform. The 25-player online “Eternal Battle Mode” in which the game is named, is completely dead. However, as a single player, I found the “Neo Mode”to be the best thing the game offered. A breath of fresh air, with new levels and a high difficulty to complete. With replayability as an option as you tried to tackle your own high score. I found the “Retro mode” to be nostalgic…

Terrible. For the nostalgia factor, better play the old games and stay away from this one.

I just got this game for 89 cents. Definitely worth it for that! Game is fun enough, but don't buy it unless you can get it for less than 2 dollars, IMO

If you're looking to get this game for the multiplayer modes, don't. There's never enough people playing to make the eternal battle mode work, and the versus mode is local only. This game would've SEVERELY benefited from the versus mode also having an online option; I was looking forward to playing this with some friends who live far away from me, and unfortunately, that isn't gonna be possible. It's still a rather good deal for $0.99 when it's on sale, but when it's the regular price of $9.99,…

Since i own the original Super Breakout and Arkanoid Revenge Of Doh arcade machines i thought id give this a try. My feelings are mixed on these recharged or remade games, however i do like this one. It does indeed include the original arcade game, which is not always the case with these recharges. I do not like the "shaking" that you cannot turn off in a setting. its very distracting. Several different modes. I have yet to be able to play with more then 2 players in the room for the battle…

Probably not worth $20 but for the $2 it's on sale for, it's well worth it if just for the mouse-supported port of the original alone.

    - Battle Royale in an Arcade Game? (they put a countdown every 30 days, maybe to make us think the servers are going to shut down, if they are not shut down already) - In the final round of the Battle Royale mode, you have to be the last one with the highest score, but all your effort will be in vain if you don't defeat DOH (the final boss) in less than a minute or else he just erases you, literally (i don`t know how much time they give you, but is not much, and it will depend completely if…

OK once being played, but the user interface is very poor, and it takes forever to start up - not conducive to a quick bash during an idle moment. Got potential, but overpriced for what it is. Edit: after uninstalling this I discovered the stunningly excellent Darkanoid which, although it has a very good free version, I paid the princely sum of £2 after a couple of goes. It starts up quickly, user interface is better and the graphics and gameplay outstanding. Only downside is it's full-screen…
