Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission: Las Vegum is a 2005 action-adventure game developed by Étranges Libellules and published by Atari for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 2. It is the sequel to Asterix & Obelix XXL (2003). The game, promoted as being the first ever video game parody, stars the French comic book characters Asterix and Obelix, and spoofs popular video game characters in the same fashion that the comics… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Players find the game fun and nostalgic, especially for fans of the comics. [1][2][3] Many reviewers criticize the poor PC port with severe performance issues. [4][5][6] Some players note the game has repetitive combat and unclear objectives. [7][8][9]

How to fix the stupid 35-fps cap: Go to the installation folder. Open oXXL2Game.exe with a hex editor such as HxD. Search for the Hex-value 55 8B EC 56 8B 75 08 8B 06 80 38 00 74 0F. Replace the first three bytes with C2 04 00. Run the game. Very ignorant of the game developers to leave this be, that alone gets a thumbs down from me. The game itself also falls in comparison to its prequel, which I'd recommend to …

If you loved the adventurous and hilarious comics of Asterix and Obelix, STAY AWAY from this terrible game. This is not a review but a PSA for your mental health. The only thing I was looking forward to halfway this game, was writing this negative review. This game is a poorly optimised subpar game which gets tiring and frustrating in gameplay. The levels are mostly useless 'puzzles' where you have to drag your …

It’s like God of War, but for kids. Still a better remaster than the GTA Trilogy. Asterix and Obelix are my childhood heroes, when I saw this game I had to buy it, didn’t matter the price, or how good it was, and of course I loved it. Asterix XXL 2 is surprisingly fun! I got it on Steam for my wife’s boyfriend and I'm playing it more than him. It's the most fun I've had with a game in months! The game has this hard …

I give a thumbs up, approve, and recommend Asterix & Obelix XXL 2, a classic game version 2 of XXL brings such good and great memories of this game. The soundtrack is epic no words about that especially the main theme, and the battle levels soundtracks part. The story is fantastically made as well one of the best for early to middle childhood, teen memories. Rated E 10+ this is the version that should be played on …

Asterix and Obelix were a big part of my childhood. Besides having read the comics and all the films I had never actually heard of any Games of this frenchise. And so I bought it hoping for some nostalgia Positive -the game really manages to catch the ultimate Asterix and Obelix vibes …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the game ‘Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission: Las Vegum’ there are references to many different games, including two golden Yellow Pikmin statues and even a sphinx with Olimar’s face.
neutral · AI labelView post →Since a few weeks, this game is only running at 20 to 30 FPS. The solution? Changing three bytes of the .exe-file with a Hex editor - a solution that was found and shared in the Community Hub by a fan more than one year ago. Even though the devs were made aware of this simple patch, they still didn't fix it to this day. Obviously, that's not acceptable, so I'm unable to recommend the game until OSome finally takes care of that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, terrible port. This version is missing visual effects, has a terrible framerate, and adds bugs. Even the main menu is a straight downgrade. Do NOT buy this at full price.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello Friends, Today I will review the game Asterix and Obleix XXL 2. This is a remastered version of the original game. Although i never played the original version of the game, I did play this version. This game is based on the same comic book named the same as the game. The game is like a ps2-ps3 era game. It also basically is a "fight all the enemies to move into next area" type of game. There are also collectibles and items to find in the game. The game is also chock full of on the nose…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a nostalgia for sure, but when the developer are so bad that they wont even apply the fix that has been given by the players, they don't deserve a support. That shows how much the dev care about their consumer. Not to mentioned, it's a super simple fix for them, but it might be tough for non technical consumer.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great game but a rushed remaster. A lot of the charm from the original version isn't present, the menus are completely silent and feel empty, the pre-rendered cutscenes are much more compressed and the performance is absolutely terrible. It was basically unplayable for me until someone gave out instructions on how opening the .exe in a hex editor and replacing three bytes fixes the bad FPS cap. There's also a way to replace the cutscenes with more high quality ones but I didn't knew…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"shovelware" movie/cartoon franchise tie-in games, my beloved Asterix & Obelix: XXL 2, Ice Age 2 (the game), G-Force (the game)... "Slop" used to be peak.
positive · AI labelView post →Really bad remaster; horrible camera, combat is basically at the same level of Playstation gameplay, and instead of being improved has been made worst. Avoid and play the original one instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →technically the definitive edition of the game both in content and graphically but I can't get over how this is probably one of the worst pc ports of all time -Framerate cap of 90, can't go above 32 no matter your hardware -Videos highly compressed -Game freezes in the settings menu -Main menu of the original game completely stripped out for a generic landing page -Steam Cloud is broken, so all saves get dumped into a non-working directory -Inexplicably has near-flawless Ultrawide support…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I truly wanted to enjoy the game. I really really wished Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 to be a decent game. Sadly, it is not. I know that games based on cartoon franchise are usually mediocre. I know. But I like Asterix and Obellix enough to stand it being average. The story told in Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 was not bad. Though it is stupid. Well, I expected this and do not mind. ...Just the story is being shown on a low resolution movies with poor rendering... In a platformer aspect the game is not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Needs Optimization, unplayable under current circumstances
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first time I played this remastered version, I had little issues and plenty of fun. However, since then I have encountered a bug which renders the game unplayable regardless of re-installs or fixes. This seems to be a common issue. It's a shame, the original was a great game and this version has a lot of potential to refine and improve. Sadly, the issue of game-breaking bugs is widespread enough to be a serious risk if you purchase. I can't recommend this as long as there are no quality of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Garbage remaster. Low effort and horrible controls/UI. The camera is atrocious. Looking at the other games this developer released - I am not surprised for the low quality of this one. Always research what you purchase.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you plan to play this on PC using a keyboard, don't, just don't. The frame-rate is low and it can be fixed using an un-official patch or hex-editor ( they could have patched this easily ). Remapping the buttons will lead to nothing working, literally nothing, press the buttons as much as you would like and if you are lucky, only the movement keys will work ( and the only way to fix this is to install the Japanese language in your computer lol ). I couldn't even make it into the first area of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really lazy remaster, menu lost it's charm completely, 0 music + u have to go into HxD editor to actually have good frames, playing on an emulator is better, and for free. the price being 20 is a steal.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aside the problematic fps bug(can be fixed), I can say that this game is decent. Recommended especially if you like video game references, and not too difficult beat'em ups/Adventure games Also probably buy it on sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly dk how they made this watered-down depressing crap after the first XXL
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing job, developers... if you’re making a PC version of the game, at least enable keyboard support. And I shouldn’t have to download a patch from some random website just to make the game run properly without FPS drops.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to pay $19.99 for a game then i'm recommending to try somewhere else because devs cant repair their own game game looks good , but i have 20 FPS (without fix ) on my pc with 4060ti i5-13400f and m2. With a fix i have 60 fps but still with fps drops. I had to change my keyboard language to Japanese because I couldn't even jump or attack
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly fun This game is on sale quite often, so I do not recommend buying it at full price. But shhh, don't tell the devs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apart the fact developers didn't solve the framerate issue, which can be surprinsigly solved really easily just by changing one section of a file in hexadecimal (check the post about it [url=https://steamcommunity.com/app/887060/discussions/0/3344417177391769135/]here), it's an adaptation of the game on PS2, but almost faithful, and it's this "almost" that make the note drops below the pass mark. There is too much lightning contrast between elements, and some cool details are missing. Playable…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick disclaimer: I never played the original version of the game, but I have to say that the remake held up quite nicely. The graphics, sound, music and gameplay was pretty fun and enjoyable. The only downside was that sometimes things weren't too clear on where to go or what to do. It sometimes showed you a cutscene of a location where you needed to go and then you have no idea on how to get there. Some challenges were locked for no reason only to find out that you need to clear all the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun for a while, but it gets soo repetitive... it feels like work. You whack an endless barrage of Romans forever. There is an unlimited supply of them and they respawn the instant they are defeated so this whole exercise feels inconsequential and pointless. There isn't happening a whole lot that is meaningful. The game just spins its wheels and lets you do the same stuff over and over. There isn't enough depth to justify all that. When you get to repeat the exact same thing you already did but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Capped at 30 fps, and that's sometimes dropping
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🏟️ Despite the simplified levels, it's much more fun to play than the first one, particularly due to the more comfortable combat and minimal platforming. It's engaging, constantly tries to spice up the gameplay, and looks gorgeous, especially in terms of the environment and character design (the sound is also top notch). This ROMAster was released before the XXL, and while it lacks the switch to the original graphics and has some minor tech. issues (that are quickly fixed), it's definitely a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its more or less the same as the first one, which was decent enough fun. However, I liked the XXL romastered more but XXL 2 is still a good game. BUT framerate was limited to 30fps by default? I had to do a fix that I have find on the internet to make it run with 60fps. Not a fan of a soundtrack after a while it started to get on my nervs!!! I have played with a xbox controller and I had no issue with controls whatsoever. On a sale it is a decent pick for the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is great, but play it on ps2, this is just rushed
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great nostalgia trip IF you mess around with the exe file to get it up and running properly. Also remember to punch that door to the right near the obelisk in Lutetia if you want the actual 100% achievement :^)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just like the 1st Asterix & Obelix XXL, only better. would grab on deep sale, as both games are not that long
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From the one minute I played, I could already tell that the coding was an absolute crime against humanity. The game runs at a solid 30 to 35 fps, regardless of graphic settings, resolution, vsync etc. This is not even nearly worth the 30 dollars. It is worth 5 dollars though, as such I bought it on a pretty basic -85% sale. The devs made an awesome port, but just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the coding to a degree that it runs on 30-35 fps by default. Now I'm not naming any websites, but let's just say that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When games were made for having fun...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring, very repetitive, and tries too hard to be funny by shoving in way too many references to other games. In the end, this just makes the game look extremely stupid as it is simply trying too hard. Not to mention the horrible technical issues the game still has to this day

In Asterix & Obelix XXL 2, you're once again tasked with rescuing your friends from captivity. The story is easy to follow, has surprising twists, and is funny. The attack patterns are more varied and dynamic than in XXL 1. Beating up your enemies feels even better. Now we come to the point that led me to give the game a negative review, the disastrous performance! While the graphics in…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The second is from “Asterix & Obelix XXL 2” a hame with tons of other random cameos, here’s a wiki to its references: antifandom.com/fictionalcro...
neutral · AI labelView post →Decent beat 'm up with some creative ideas and of course lots of Roman enemies. The combat is fun, although rather repetitive because there are way too many sections where you need to beat waves of dozens of the same enemies. There's some platforming as well, which can be challenging because of the limited camera controls. Still, there are plenty of things to enjoy in order to finish the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 is a tremendous disappointment. It's a console ported third person brawler set in the beloved Goscinny & Uderzo comic book world of somewhat fictional historical Europe as you take on the role of the two comedy champions of the Gaulish village holding out against the Roman Empire. The graphics look okay if a little dated and there's even 4K support, but not much else in the way of graphics tweaks. There's a framerate cap and you need to use a hex editor to repair…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unless you are nostalgia tripping avoid this game. Positive reviews made a wrong impression that the game is decent, it is not. It is one of the most obnoxious games i played in years. When in a brawler game enemies literally avoid you, keeping distance with machine precision is hilarious in the beginning and becomes very tiring after a few hours.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everything you didn't liked about the first one is fixed here. Everything you liked about the first one is twice as good. The music is even better and the parodies are top notch.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can run RE8 on max settings...this game drops fps harder than anything
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game from my childhood. Funny story, beautiful scenery, nice cutscenes (even if a bit outdated) and overall great experience. Needed 10h to complete it 100% in hard, but I knew most of the locations of the helmets already.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't a terrible game, but I can really only recommend it to people who played it on the ps2 (or contemporary consoles) as kids. This game is really bare-bones. This game might initially present itself as a 3D platformer, but it's not. It's a really basic beat-em-up, mainly intended for kids. This itself isn't a bad thing, but I can't help but think that there are better games in this genre for kids. The combos here are easy, yes, but they're repetitive, and you'll eventually find one or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horrible controls, unplayable without a controller... And even with one, the camera's random movements (think: kind of like the old Tomb Raiders, but worse) will probably still make it hard to play.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is great, but the condition the PC version was released is shamelessly terrible. Performance issues never fixed by the developers make the game run worse than its PS2 version. The only fix is an external disk editor program. This version of the game is not worth your money since it requires your intervention just to be playable. Play it on a PS4 or emulate the PS2 version on pcsx2 to have an infinitely better experience with zero tweaks necessary.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Peak childhood classic from the PS2 cleaned up and looks better than ever and i'm honestly suprised with how they got away with all those callbacks to iconic gaming icons they made. It's not anything special as the combat is really simplystic and there's much reasons to come back after completing it but fighting Romans is still a good time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →worst than the first game if you dont trust me play it for yourself and cry on the camera angles and controls
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A mid-remaster but at least playable and enjoyable A bit of mix feeling for this one. The original from 2005 was one of my favorite childhood game (nice varieties of enemies, levels, bosses and ambiance overall) and this remastered doesn't do a great job to port it to modern platform but at least it's playable and better than the remaster of the first one for sure. The problem with this one is the new content additions (collectible, some timed arenas fights...) are pretty useless and not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 is a colorful, lighthearted 3D action adventure that feels like both a tribute to classic platformers and a lively extension of the beloved French comic series. From the moment the game drops you into the extravagant Roman theme-park of Las Vegum, it becomes clear that this is an experience built around charm, cartoon theatrics, and simple arcade fun rather than modern complexity. The story sets the tone immediately: Getafix, the respected Druid of the Gaulish village,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pathetic programming skills make a 2005 game run like a POS at a sub-cinematic 20 fps. You have been warned. No one deserves this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SPACE DOESNT WORK AND GAME LAGGS ALL THE TIME
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game very well catches the comic in its mechanics of fighting Romans and send them flying. There is a bit of progression in terms of fighting movements but not that much to keep the fights from getting repetitive very soon. And apart from this you mainly look for the next button to open the next door. That said the game enterains well in small doses and the different levels as well as the many pop culture references made it worthwhile for me to finish the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What can I say about this game? I mean wow, I thought I've seen bad but f*ck me this is f*cked beyond comparison. I cant even go past the first level because character wont jump (yes I tried to remap the controls). There is a button delay and every time I hit the enemies the game stutters or freezes. Basically a big f*ck you to my face. Do not buy this game, it does not deserve its positive reviews. Or buy the game and try to fix it and if you do let me know so I can play it to.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is alright. There are a few bugs on Steam Deck and occasional crashes. The cutscenes have partly really bad graphics but otherwise everything runs smoothly and without problems.
