Obvious others are The Secret Agent which is great. It Was Just An Accident which I’ve not seen yet but might watch later.

Despite a real exercise in formal innovation, the film never overcomes the mawkish clichés it bathes in for almost three hours. More on @loudandclearrvs.bsky.social: #filmsky
negative · AI labelView post →Just came out of "l'amour ouf"; "Beating Hearts" in English. Mrs D loved it. I couldn't wait for it to end! It's like a comic strip put on film. Some great performances but there's one really badly drawn character. What irks is that everything, but everything, is played for effect. My head aches!
negative · AI labelView post →BEATING HEARTS: It’s a film that comes out of the gate with plenty of verve, a great duo of young actors, and its heart on its sleeve (or stuck on the wall in the form of chewing gum) before losing it. neutral · AI labelView post →Gilles Lellouche employs all the stylistic flourishes he can in BEATING HEARTS (L'AMOUR OUF), an admirable formal exercise that can't overcome its clichés despite a great cast. neutral · AI labelView post →“Clotaire” (Malik Frikah) is the school wide boy who meets his match in the younger “Jacqueline” (Mallory Wanecque) and despite their coming from opposite sides of the tracks, they start to bond. He becomes besotted with her, but rather than buy her her favourite “The Cure” album, he pinches it for her, and that’s just the latest example of his petty criminality that ultimately ends up with him spending ten years incarcerated. When he (now François Civil) comes out of prison, he goes back to…

It actually should be longer.
