What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 195 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (392 of 410 positive).
Some reviewers note that puzzles become overly obtuse in later chapters, requiring guides. [1][2][3] A few players criticize technical issues like softlocks and lack of widescreen support. [4][5]

Were we all playing the same game??? That was bad. Really bad. I don't know if it was initially in German, but the English localisation is absolutely shameful. I would swear it was translated and recorded by AI, as no proper, English speaking person would record such a script on purpose. There is no wide-screen support and the devs have already acknowledged this and says it's a limitation of the engine... THEN WHY …

I originally played this on GOG, but had to buy it again on Steam so I could up vote it (and probably replay it to get all the achievements). It's that good! Owlsgard is up there with other classic point-and-click adventure games like Monkey Island and Sam & Max. It's kind of insane that every character has something unique to say about every item. Not just repeating "I don't want that" like you normally see. And on …

No obvious puzzle solutions, and no moon logic either. It really scratched that itch for a game that challenges you, but doesn't drive you to using a walkthrough. Voice acting was quite good and the production values were a lot higher than i had initially expected. Would definitely recommend to others.

Pretty fun adventure game. The game is fully voice acted and at times very funny. I got through chapters 1 and 2 fine, but chapter 3 is a mess, with a lot of puzzles that felt impossible to solve without a guide. The story is simple with a good twist in chapter 4 reminiscent of Sea of Stars. Runs great on Steam Deck.

A cute litte point & click adventure game which ewokes strong memories of classic Lucas Arts games. Well written, funny, and overall a good time. My only issue with the game is that the ending felt extremely rushed and unsatisfying (it's obvious that they had to cut content and force some exposition at the end) and like two of the puzzle solutions were moon logic. I do recommend the game though.
Summarised from 34 of the 235 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 10, 2026. How summaries are made
Players who liked Beyond The Edge Of Owlsgard talk about excellent voice acting and production values; those who didn't talk about some puzzles in later chapters are too obtuse. Which matters more to you?

positive · AI labelView post →Traditional point-and-click adventure in the style of early Lucasarts games with nine verbs. It was nice not to just have "look" and "use". Had technical issues going full screen but fixed it, don't remember how. Not perfect, it's still 4:3 ratio with black bars. The graphics were nice enough, but I did not particularly like the style of the characters with the thin, gangly limbs. However, the animations were pretty good considering the limitations of the initial resolution. The puzzles were…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's undeniable that a LOT of effort, passion and time has been poured into this work. And it really hurts me to criticize too much an indie title, especially one with such love for this niche, underrated nostalgic genre, and with so much clear talent behind it like the voice acting, artwork, design and music, as well as a solid premise for a good story if developed further/better - but, there are unfortunately issues with this game; enough that it makes me not recommend it for the price. These…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a long-time fan of point and clickers, I often need to turn a blind eye or two to enjoy this genre. It can be because of cringy writing, lazy cheap humour, moon logic, unlikable obnoxious protagonist (way too often), tired references, meta crap... there are many ways to make adventure sour. Owlsgard avoids all. This game I played with both eyes wide open and sparkling with thrill. Current quality pnc devs like Wadjet Eye or Postmodern Adventures succeed with, in a way (in a way I said!),…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played Beyond The Edge Of Owlsgard yesterday! Was fun and very charming. Had some definite obtuse-adventure-game moments (which I kind of asked for by playing it on classic mode instead of modern mode) but very cool. Story was legitimately cool. And the voice acting was awesome. :3

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one was big surprise for me. I didn't expect such a fun journey, story and gameplay. Sure it reminds me a lot of older point & click games, especially Return to Money Island. It took 18h to get all achievements for me, so it's not the usual short adventure game, what we have seen lately. I did see one bug, but it was not gamebraking one. I highly recommend to the point & click fans!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really enjoying this game until I learned the hard way that it is possible to softlock yourself if you save your game in a timed death sequence without being in possession of the correct item. I was only using one save slot, so I have nothing to return to. If I want to progress and see the rest of this game, I now have to start over from scratch. Should I have been using more than one save slot? You could say that, but that's not the issue. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, no spoilers, but I personally really liked Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard a fair bit. It was the first point and click adventures I've played, unless I'm mistaken, and it's amazing IMO. No spoiler to a certain scene but my favorite line in the game comes from one of the many game overs and it's just the English voice actor for Finn kinda doing an angry adlibbing right before it happens. Absolute gem of dialogue.
positive · AI labelView post →A really fun and intriguing point and click game! Pros + Fantastic voice acting. + Long, if you interact with everything in most ways, getting you at least 8 hours. + An intriguing and interesting storyline all the way through. + No soft locks like in classic PnC games. + Death scenes are humorous, and you are always warned when you enter a dangerous area. + Lots of funny interactions, and plenty of achievements for doing some of these too. I enjoyed taking my found items and using them on all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard is a charming throwback to point and click adventure games, but that doesn't excuse it for being a rather subpar experience with issues. You play as Finn, a roebuck who sees his home ransacked and his parents missing. He goes on a journey to find them, where apparently other animals have been going missing lately and the blame happens to be on the wolves, as scary predators that eat the docile creatures. The wolves might have been part of stigma, but they carry the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite having a native resolution of about 320x240- seriously, it's 2023- the game is beautiful and must be experienced. The cartoony animations and sounds hit the spot and really added to the game. The story was original, well done, and one of my all-time favorites. There could have been more puzzles, and the existing ones fell under the Goldilocks principle. Either too easy, too hard, or just right. But it's still worth buying. I wish there were more games like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an amazing point-and-click adventure! It plays homage to retro variants of this game with the ways in which you engage with the world, but is moderinized the way that avoids clunkiness, going back and forth too much and soft locks. Overall has, super smooth animations, really clever and engaging story and characters that do NOT irk me in the slightest! (you'd be suprised how many games in this genre have GRATING MC's). The puzzles are not overly obtuse and are pretty clever…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Managed to clear Beyond The Edge of Owlsgard today, is a pretty neat point and click adventure game!
positive · AI labelView post →This might the best classic point & click of last decade. Perfectly incorporates what made Lucasarts games good. The praise - interesting story that kept in its grasp until the last screen - perfect puzzle difficulty balance - excellent voice acting - beautiful old school pixel graphics and background art The nag - none Hidden gem, give it a try!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The characters do that thing where their heads move between 3 different positions every few seconds while their lips move at random while they talk 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good at 75% off or more. A charming little game. Story is fun when it's focused on the moment, less fun when it's trying to push itself forward. When it does that, it tries taking itself seriously but fails miserably (a lot of boring cliches). It has some issues starting late game (around mid chapter 3 and onwards) I'm definitely positive on it, but again, as long as it's at least 75% off.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a very nice game It looks good, its voice acted, the story is nice and puzzles are... mostly great. By the 3rd Chapter and onwards they became more obtuse and annoying, something I'd expect from more insane PnC like Deponia or just a more amateur one, but it's still manageable enough. The ability to have 9 non context sensitive interaction types makes some things very difficult and others are made more interesting and engaging because of it, it's a double edged sword and requires…

neutral · AI labelView post →This turned out to be much better than I was expecting! I've played a lot of modern adventure games, and sometimes when they hew so close to the traditional early-90s point-and-click format, including the 9 verbs and 320x200 pixel art (all of which I grew up with and love to see, to be clear), I get a little worried they're going to be too enamored with being a throwback and not have enough identity of their own. But I was very impressed with Owlsgard. It has a ton of personality, a unique…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really good and needs more love and fan art. I talked with the dev and hes still trying to fix problems with the game. I recommend this game for anyone who wants point and click games. I think Dan from Game Grumps would love this game because its Kings Quest but with furries.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Went for the 100% and i still havent gotten michael kovach as a main character and jarlena sex Not gonna lie though, everything of the game is well made (except for the sea segment) Pretty hard to play blindly on classic mode The only thing i dint liked about the game is being unable to take screenshots of the dialogues with any key
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game if you love the old Sierra/Lucasarts games this is a nice throwback
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros - Really nice backgrounds. I thought the character sprites could have used a few more pixels but they were charming none the less. - Solid controls and interface. The verb table can be problematic in some games due to how many possibilities it creates i.e. did the developer intend for me to "use" this item or "push" this item etc. However the implementation in this game is very intuitive and forgiving. I feel like a lot of work went into it to make it user friendly. I don't recall any…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel harsh doing this but i'm going to leave a negative review because I feel that giving it a positive one whilst acknowledging its problems is likely to become lost in the shuffle and I really want people to take notice of this. This. Is. A. Good. Game. ... Mostly. Graphics are Solid, Voice Acting is Solid. Mechanics are Solid. Puzzles are reasonably difficult without being stupidly difficult in places. So... what's the problem? Tone. Tone is the Problem. This game was intended…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought myself a copy of FoxTail @foxtailgame.com. It is a retro-inspired point-and-click adventure game along the lines of Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard by @watchdatoast.bsky.social. It is incredibly wholesome and from what I've seen so far, well worth the ~$5 it cost. (Got mine on GOG Galaxy.)
neutral · AI labelView post →It's an ok game, but honestly I had to go against recommending it because of the Disney-level voice acting and scripting (where Every Word Is Emphasized, and sentences needlessly start with a "Well," and the character probably would have some awkward half-smirk on their face trying to be quirky but it just comes off as incredibly annoying). And while I like point and click games, I hate ones where there's separate push/pull/take/use buttons.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super super cute and nostalgic! What a gem of a game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you enjoy puzzles and point and click adventure games, give this game a shot. The save system is very generous - you can save anytime you like and the autosave kicks in the first time you enter a dangerous situation, so no death ever feels unfair. The artwork and character designs are lovely (if this is an elaborate advertisement for Aseprite, it's working) and the narrative is fairly good. Finn's cartoonish screams as he gets turned into paste, crushed into a cube, lacerated, mauled,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A truly fantastic point&click adventure game in the style of the classics of the genre. This game features great writing, great voice acting, great artwork, great animation... It's just all GREAT! If you're a fan of the genre you HAVE to try this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This has probably been the best indie Point and Click I've played in recent years. Totally not biased because I'm a furry. (Jokes aside, it IS really good)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an adventure game, so definitely consider if playing an adventure game sparks joy for you before you purchase it. But even if it doesn't, this animation...just sparks so much joy for me. It's so loving. It's so delightful. So many small details. The world feels expansive and alive. I can't remember the last adventure game I played that had this much animation polish. Nothing innovative in the puzzles, but it doesn't really need to be for me. I'm very happily enjoying this ride, and will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a fantastic point and click adventure game with a great story and fun characters. I do hope this game gets a sequel someday, and who knows what it would be like?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is awesome. Games basically always get ignored unless they have some crazy new unique idea, but this is just, like, a really fun adventure game! It has some interesting, like, themes in it. It has fun characters. It has a shocking amount of fully voiced dialogue for nonsensical SCUMM interactions. What's not to love, especially when it's often on sale for 90% off?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A rather fantastic entry in the well-trod Lucas-esque adventure game genre. Looks wonderful, sounds great, for the most part the puzzles are solid and the writing is perfectly cromulent. Substantial enough to entertain without outstaying its welcome and no sequel bait (not that I would say no to one!), and I enjoyed Finn as the 'hero'. I didn't dislike anyone else, though I could say I didn't get a lot of chance to know them as there's not a lot of character development. Amd a bonus point…

neutral · AI labelView post →Ok @sonic-official.bsky.social hear me out, a point and click detective game in the style of Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard, Discworld Noir, Grim Fandango etc. using 2D sprites, and starring the Chaotix Detective Agency.
neutral · AI labelView post →One of my top choices for contemporary point and click games for its beautiful pixel art, a vast array of characters (enough to supply you with favorites and annoyances), very knowing puzzles throughout the whole game calling back to classic games and leading forward with new ideas, and music that had me happily leaving the game on while relaxing around the house. I was stumped on a few puzzles and felt great when you suddenly see the solution and even the deaths were all entertaining when…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love that this game replicates the feel of old 90s VGA adventure games (like King's Quest) right down to the silly death screens Playing "Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard"
positive · AI labelView post →Lovely game, really challenging and fun! Incredible art! I recommend it 100%
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a f4cking waste of time. Completely unlogical puzzles. 10 items, pick one (the most unobvious) and use on a certain item (also the most unobvious) to proceed to the game. Yeah, how cool is that the main hero says he cant fit big items in his pockets, but then in the chapter 3 you literally gotta pick up large gutter to solve the puzzle. It started well, I just can't understand why the dev expects me to do the most unobvious things in this game. Not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[Disclosure: Helped crowdfund game] Very cute Point and Click Throwback Adventure Game. Really cute graphics and a very nice adventure for our protagonist to go on. Puzzles are fun and I like the characters. Definitely worth playing, especially for Point and Click fans!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7.5/10 A little annoying at some parts if you're playing in Classic Mode but otherwise a great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a classic point and click game through and through! It has very charming moments, and the twist for the game is quite interesting. The story is fine, nothing extremely gripping and it takes slightly too long to pick up the pace. But the writing is charming and quippy enough to keep you going. This game apparently has a classic and a modern mode that highlights the interactable objects so you can't miss them. I have to say, it is kind of needed since I played classic and I got stuck…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Charming, challenging, well-written and with both bad & good endings begging for a sequel, words fail me to express how much of a good time this was. I only wish it was a longer experience (for being so proeminent in the banner, Jarlena is sort of underfeatured in my opinion, and I wish Jerrick could've been a companion in Chapter 4 with more insights about his character and moments with Finn), but this is fairly standard length for point & click adventure games. Also while the French…
