This game is about killing bugs and other abominations with a boomerang of all weapons, this is true lore accurate Australia

Boomerang X is one of my favorite movement shooters(?) of all time. In a genre I love, it stands out as a quick, action packed, mechanically rewarding title with a low point of entry and a near infinite skill ceiling. The game is redownloading as I write this so that I can go back and achievement hunt, which I rarely do. Do yourself a favor and at least try out the demo.

Most satisfying movement shooter I've ever played, super quick (~2 hours first playthrough) but high replayability. 11/10 worth the price at -75% during sales.

This game is fantastic. The marriage of movement and combat make for an extremely satisfying gameplay loop that is easy to learn and hard to master. It's impressive how intuitive the sling ability is, after like 2 minutes of using it I was flying around the stage as if I'd coded the thing myself. The visual presentation is a perfect example of less being more, with simplistic level and enemy design featuring minimal …

neutral · AI labelView post →Boomerang X developer DANG! is closing down due to being unable to find funding on their next game (via @dangmakesgames on Twitter). The string of awful layoffs and closures continues. Loved this fast arena-FPS, best of luck to everyone. ❤️

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are serious issues in multi-monitor setups, but from old posts it seems the developer considers this a minor problem affecting only a small number of players, and has no intention to fix it. So either I have to unplug my extra monitors every time, or I just can’t play at all. Other than that, the game itself is nice in every way. ***Edited Sep 24, 2025: Regarding the mouse not working in the menus, found a solution in the Steam community discussions: disabling the HID-compliant touch…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's all about the movement. DANG! said in an interview that they tried removing the floor as the game progresses, which leads you to master being airborne. Gem of a game. I only wish there was more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →#justbeatit Boomerang X Wild artstyle, gameplay mechanics and enemy designs. But overall the arena/wave style combat holds it back massively. This game but with proper level design would've been amazing, now it's just ok. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game demands perfect execution and properly teaches you how to do so. repeat playthroughs will make you feel god-like, while still serving as a reasonable challenge. extremely fun to speed run, great visuals. the list goes on

positive · AI labelView post →Holy shit, new game from Rami Ismail, with art by Castpixel, developed by a co-op, including a Boomerang X dev... I literally cannot put into words how excited I am for this AAAAAAAAA 😭😭😭😭😭
neutral · AI labelView post →one of the best games to aim train while still having tons of fun! I pirated it for years and now finally bought it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I came here to throw a glowing death frisbee and touch grass — and this game doesn’t let me do either. Boomerang X is what happens when Titanfall, DOOM, and a Beyblade get tossed into a blender and scream at you in midair. You don’t run. You launch. You don’t shoot. You yeet a bladed frisbee so hard it violates the Geneva Convention. It’s fast, it’s beautiful, and it absolutely does not care about your ability to aim or function as a human being under pressure. You will die. You will scream.…

positive · AI labelView post →It's a simple but fun game. Incredible audiovisual identity, seriously caught me off guard. your weapon is also a movement mechanic which is cool

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, stylized and fast paced. Last boss was very difficult and frustrating because of the arena walls, but so satisfying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8/10. short and sweet fps with very satisfying game play mechanics.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've decided, randomly, that Boomerang X is a stylish action game. Fight me on this. You guys probably don't even know what that is, posers!
positive · AI labelView post →Allows you to skip all dialogue
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game, but way too short. Finished it in an hour. Did not feel like playing the New Game+, but even if I did, I don't know if I would even get 2 hours' worth. Cool game with tight and interesting movement, but can't recommend for the usual asking price. If it's less than 5 bucks then go for it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, what a game! Everything feels so spot on, the combat, controls, visuals, overall design. Also the very unique locomotion with slow motion and teleporting feels awesome! I usually can't play games like this very well on steam deck with a controller, but this was so well designed for controllers with some aim assist that I have a blast.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really cool game, i was unsure whether i'd like this game since i'm a fan of fast-paced fps games rather than fast-paced melee games, but i've been enjoying this game a ton. i really like the creativity of the enemies, in the sense that their designs are really cool, and the levels / environments feel very artsy, not sure how to describe it, it's like a very peaceful art style that you'd see in old japanese paintings, but gameplay wise it plays very smooth and feels like any other fast-paced…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fast action, unique main mechanic, short and sweet but with enough depth to go at it again and again. Base game is a bit too easy, NewGame+ makes up for it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →quick and fun game. felt exhausting right before the final boss but otherwise was great throughout.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most satisfying movement shooter I've ever played, super quick (~2 hours first playthrough) but high replayability. 11/10 worth the price at -75% during sales.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think Boomerang X is one of those games where I make it to the last boss and then never finish it. I lose half my health states in the first phase. After doing well through the rest of the game I feel like the amount of precision the game is expecting from my ramped up a ton.
neutral · AI labelView post →Good proof of concept, but lacking in substance and depth. I was actually bored to the point of quitting after the first 30 minutes. And it's not like I need triple-A production to stay engaged. I've sunk just under 100 hours into Diatomic over a few weeks, and I've put over 600 hours into Cyber Hook. Boomerang X just didn't do it for me. However, a lot of people seem to like it, so take what I say with a grain of salt. In its defense, for what little it does, it does quite well. Very clean and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A joyful boomerang adventure filled with very fast paced violence and a polite centipede fellow.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ace attorney! Such a nice game! I have been invested on forager currently, and Boomerang X I cannot play that much sadly 😭😭
neutral · AI labelView post →Altered Blood AB+ - different type of game, but this has the same level of juice as Boomerang X. The movement is great, the combat unique…You get different boosts from touching blood that’s all over the place and those boosts make you rethink how you engage in the space, it’s all very interesting.
neutral · AI labelView post →super fun game! love the movement, art style and minimalism of it all. easy to get into a flow.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →looks awesome, feels great to play. probably not worth the $20 for the playtime you'll get out of it, but if you get it on sale it's totally worth it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a good enough game, but not for me. I dont find endless arenas particularly compelling and boomerang x doesnt change that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can a shooter without guns be one of the best shooters ever? Apparently so! Boomerang X has a feel of its own, unique to it, the movement and the gameplay are quite unique. Unique is also the gimmicky (but well thought out) gadget that was released with it, but mostly lost to time at the time of writing. The visuals are gorgeous, and are very conducive to the fast-paced gameplay. The mechanics are quite good, and added at a very resonable pace. This has become one of my all time favorites.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i wish steam had a thumbs to the side or informational review option this game is really good BUT i dont know if i would really pay 20 of my moneys for it because its really really short
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was incredible when I first played it almost five years ago, and it's just as incredible now. It's a shame that the developers shut down and the game seems to have been completely overlooked, with only 1k reviews (albeit overwhelmingly positive ones). It's a tightly packed experience that you could definitely "beat" in one sitting, and paying $20 for that might be a tall ask for some folks, but the game isn't lacking in content or quality. You're constantly getting new skills,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unique movement options mixed with attack ability: Fling the mystic boomerang to attack and press again to be flinged towards where the boomerang currently is. The boomerang can bounce off walls so you can e.g. fall down from the air, fling boomerang towards an enemy on the bottom, boomerang hits and bounces off ground, wait until boomerang is above you, press again to be flinged upwards before hitting the ground. Hit combos and more attack abilities make the combat even more interesting. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a brief game, so check out HowLongToBeat and decide whether you want to wait for a sale or full price. But it is pretty unique and doesn't overstay its welcome the way some one-trick pony indie games do. All the reviews talk about the slingshot mechanic and the arena combat but I feel like not many of them say that this is basically a FPS Bullet Hell game. Each level will have 3-6 enemies you have to kill to progress, another dozen or so that are active threats, but another 20+ that are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good game to train flick stick control type Since it's pretty basic and force you to constantly do 180° and change direction. It has native flick stick implementation, but you need to turn off stem input. The only downside is that the game has too much verticality so you can often overshoot both with flick stick and mouse, so recalibrating on the fly can be quite annoying. If you are playing on mouse difficulty that is.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →absolute cinema, better endless mode than ultrakill, fire lore and amazing replayability
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →for sure one of the more fun games I've played in a bit. visually one of the best looking games I've played to date. like sure its not hyper-realistic with 8k ultra HD path-traced graphics, but the stylization and "landscapes" are so beautiful. The movement is top notch and leaves room for you to discover really interesting mechanics with your easy-to-use weapon. it's also really well optimized with my performance not dipping when there's an insane amount of enemies around. i can see myself…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disappointing the studio couldn't carry on to do more. One of my favourite games of the decade.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun short game with a lot of potential playtime in mastering the movement and combat. Content wise the story mode is just long enough to fill around 2 ish hours for a new player and only really leaves you with a narrow understanding of the game's mechanics. As for the story it is nothing groundbreaking. It relies a lot on show don't tell which works fine for the most part but I'd like a bit more exposition - maybe some lore texts somewhere in the game. All in all you've grown…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8. Boomerang X. Movement in this game feels like a drug.
