Shotgun Cop Man combines the best parts of the platformer and the twin-stick shooter to make a thoroughly entertaining game where your gun is used to shoot enemies and propel yourself towards the objective. The levels have clearly had a lot of thought put into them and new enemy types and obstacles are introduced as you progress through the game. The soundtrack is nice as well. I had a lot of fun with this one and …

Fun game, I don't know if I like this better or Pedro better. But that final boss is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trying to do all the challenges, everything else in the game is predictable, but the rocks and circlular shots are just such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that they're unavoidable. THAT LAST BOSS IS 6 MINUTES. It was a nightmare.... I enjoyed every part until there.

Shotgun Cop Man, developed by DeadToast Entertainment and published by Devolver Digital, is an unorthodox but surprisingly deep action-platformer that flips traditional movement mechanics on their head. In this game, the player doesn’t jump in the conventional sense. Instead, the recoil of your firearms — primarily the shotgun — becomes your primary method of propulsion. The entire gameplay loop is built around this …

Shotgun Cop Man is a downgrade compared to My Friend Pedro in almost every way, but it has its own fun twist: Shooting in the opposite direction to gain momentum. Yes, as the title suggests, you have a shotgun in one hand that you can use to gain momentum, jump, and sometimes kill. However, the main weapon is a better choice for killing since it has a better range. There is also another mechanic that allows you to …

Love it. The unique jump/dash mechanic in combination with staying in mid air while shooting feels so satisfying. It's one of those easy to learn, hard to master games. The style is also very clean and therefore it's always clear what's going on and what bullets to dodge.

I admit my interest in this was purely based on seeing something about it on some sort of live stream gaming event. I was watching with friends and went "Wow, this looks so fucking stupid in a good way, I need to try this". Almost a year later and here we are.…

neutral · AI labelView post →My stream schedule this week will have some good variety 🎮 Tonight, it’s a cozy and chaotic hack n’ slash game called An Eternity Gone By! On Thursday, I’m playing Shotgun Cop Man, a hectic action-platformer where you shoot to jump! And finally, I’m finishing RE4 on Saturday! 🟣 Twitch.tv/Bo__Po
neutral · AI labelView post →I'm over the massive, over-produced games. I looked at the price of the new Indiana Jones game (AUD119), and even though I loved Machine Games' previous work, I noped out. These days, I'm mostly reverting to simple arcade games more akin to the early era of gaming I grew up on. Shotgun Cop Man, from the people that made My Friend Pedro, just came out. It was $13. Finished it in one sitting, but I'll probably play it multiple times. Much better investment.
positive · AI labelView post →Trying to make my short-form edits a little more engaging. Here’s a lil’ video about Shotgun Cop Man that I’m putting out tomorrow. In short: game good.

neutral · AI labelView post →Shotgun Cop Man is a short but sweet time with great gameplay, an easy-to-understand level editor, and solid performance on the #SteamDeck. A copy was provided by Devolver Digital for review. steamdeckhq.com/game-reviews...

positive · AI labelView post →DeadToast does it again! This is a great game, with unique mechanics and a great soundtrack. I have the same thoughts on My Friend Pedro. I wish more people knew about them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun and creative, only really falters in how every world/level looks the same which was a little bland after a while. Everything else was great, good to play on Steam Deck too and bonus points for having a neat level editor

neutral · AI labelView post →In short: A fun and hectic little action platformer with tight controls. Good for a few hours of entertainment; it took me just under 4 hours for 100% (achievement) completion, i.e., excluding bonus levels. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for full price, but from a sale it is definitely a good catch. Overall rating: 6/10 when full price, 8.5/10 at half price. More detailed review: Satan's been at it again, and needs to be reminded that the long hand of the law cannot be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a neutral review. To be honest, I'm not very satisfied with the game. It's nowhere near as innovative as My Friend Pedro was for its time. At that time shooting with two hands on different sides of the screen had a wow! effect on me. The gameplay of ‘Shotgun Cop Man’ offers nothing impressive. This game could be fun, but in my opinion the accessibility feature ruins the challenge because you can activate custom slow-action mode and easily complete all the levels. I can't see any reason…

neutral · AI labelView post →20th game, Shotgun Cop Man Using your weapons for attacks and recoil for movement seemed like it would require a level of twitch response that I'm not capable of But this game is fairly forgiving, the lvls short and does not penalize you for not hitting bonus objectives Highly recommended
positive · AI labelView post →Really good precision platformer. Excels in constantly adding new mechanics into the game and teaching the player through gameplay. Definitely recommend, especially to people who love replaying a level until they perfect it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it has good ideas but the level design is 50/50 the boss names are angry box ,robe (f that guy btw) and so on the soundtrack is some underground synth sh#t with like no variation go play my friend pedro instead of this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's solid, not buggy, and comes with a level editor out of the box. For ten bucks in 2025, that's an insane deal.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What indie games are all about. Great gameplay with tight controls, experimental mechanics, and total silliness. You play as a cop that looks like a thumb tasked with going to Hell to arrest Satan. You blast your way through hordes of demons with an array of weapons, along with your trusty shotgun that gives you air and momentum. Fun fast-paced carnage.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →didn't think i'd like it much as precision platformers aren't much my thing, but i loved my friend pedro and had to give this a try. this game bangs so hard. it's tons of fun blasting thru levels and getting the schmoovement down. i even got 100% chievos so u know it's slick
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the demo more than 80% of my Steam library. Full version is even better. Game is fun as hell even without toe sucking.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stream Schedule for the week! positive · AI labelView post →♥♥♥♥ you Shotgun cop man (If you like "my friend pedro" this will scratch that same itch. similar with its own fun gimmicks)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game 37 Shotgun Cop Man It made my best-of 2025 list, but I never came around and finished it. Now I have, still great.
positive · AI labelView post →There's nothing inherently wrong with it; it's just not that fun. It plays like a flash game with absolutely nothing to make it stand out in any way. The levels are samey or overly cute with their gimmicks, the bosses are braindead easy, the graphics are minimalistic to a fault, and it's just another Devolver game with the exact same formula as Hotline Miami, Katana Zero and Anger Foot. It's been almost 15 years since HM released. Please either retire the formula or heavily innovate upon it.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ACAB except for my hero Shotgun Cop Man
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The level editor is outstanding, just wish the bosses were in the editor. The campaign will keep you occupied for a few hour and theres a DLC which adds even more content even though theres a workshop full of custom campaign's.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I complain often about having no time for gaming and I still found time to 100% this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The movement mechanics here are really rewarding once you get used to them. This game was made by the developer of My Friend Pedro, so get this if you like that game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The lack of controls such as spacebar, is difficult to get used to at first but then everything mixes together and... you just no hit satan

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥ you, Satan! This game is amazing. This is my first game from DeadToast but it won't be my last. Holy cow. It's just so much fun. I've been playing it every night for a week now. Character design is great, love the art style and minimalism. I kind of wish there were more enemies on almost all of the stages? But really, you should download this game. Its incredible. Such a great take on the precision platformer/speedrunner genre. It took about 8 hours to beat, but there's community…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will die on the hill that my friend pedro is much better. nothing is really wrong with this game but i just love my friend pedro so much more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shotgun Cop Man. Short sweet and simple from the people that made My Friend Pedro. The movement system and level design feels pretty sublime when you get in a good flow. And I just discovered there's Steam Workshop levels! THERE'S SO MUCH GAMES!!
positive · AI labelView post →Stream Schedule for the Week! Its an eventful week!. positive · AI labelView post →This game is great. If you just want a something with good mechanics, try it out. It's cheap and to be honest this has exactly what I love about 2D twitchy games! It's just fun c:

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The character is really fun to control.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has everything going against it. Newground-esque graphics, controls that are the platforming equivalent of FPS inverted controls, but yet it is a great game in spite of (or because of) these reasons. I grew up with the Atari 2600, and the NES, and I didn't have too much difficulty finishing this game. The generous checkpoints, and the overall fun of the game help quell any frustrating moments.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game, the visuals are the only thing lacking but the mechanics and pace of the game make up for it. Severely recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game, it's even better than My Friend Pedro imo. The difficulty is perfect, in reality you get unlimited continues and very generous checkpoints. So you can't really lose. Very unique physics system and it plays great. My only suggestion would be a hardcore mode that disables checkpoints ( you can always restart levels anyway ). Thank you !
