I really really wish I could give this game a recommendation, but in the current state I cannot. I can live with having to go out and download a separate application to pull art for my library, but what I can't stand is that after over 6 hours of organizing my library alphabetically on the shelves, I saved and reloaded the game only for 4/5 of them to disappear in a seemingly random order. I was intrigued by the idea of having my game collection being in a physical-ish form, and the game does that, but in a very basic way. It pulls your library from steam profile and have give each of them a box for you to grab and put on shelf, as well as add screenshots as content inside the box and launch the actual game from it (cool but not practical). Now as much as I hate give it a negative review, I feel like it's fair for its current state. Edit: There is a small app that downloads…

I was genuinely excited for Box Room, expecting it to become my go-to virtual game room where I could display my Steam library and create my dream gaming space. Unfortunately, the reality was incredibly disappointing. Customization is also extremely limited. There are only a handful of furniture items, paint colours, carpets, and decorations, and most of them feel uninspired. For a game that’s supposed to be about creativity and building your perfect gaming room, the lack of options is…

I'm sad to see this has been downvoted to mixed. I only just opened the game so I can't speak too much but genuinely, I am sold on the idea. My brother released a game solo on Steam and when I pulled it from the box, there was a bit of an awe moment because I wasn't really thinking about it. His name is on the bottom right corner of the case as the developer. Opened it, looked at the game cartridge, closed it and then put it in the top corner of a bookshelf. I was like, ♥♥♥♥ yeah. So you'll detect my entire Steam library but then expect me to download each titles cover art myself? Are you kidding me? The amount of hours that it would take to get this into what it claims to be out of the box is mind boggling. 0/10 unless they auto detect and grab the cover art for your games. This seems like something that should have been figured out before early access.

Requires substantial qualify of life and functionality improvements. If you have a big library of games you're going to be spending a long time carrying them to your shelves one at a time. The companion software that scrapes for the metadata for your game boxes mostly only works for games already on your shelf, which is a bit annoying. You can't search for specific games if you want to set up a more focused physical library. I'm going to keep it though because I think the potential is obvious…

I can't recommend this game because it heavily pivots on the ability to create your own space, but the building is extremely limited. Here's just a few of the problems I encountered: The build area is constrained, you may have an idea of how you want multiple interconnected rooms and hallways but you quickly end up hitting a dead end you can never build past. There is no verticality to the builds. You can't expand up or down or have any kind of height change. No sloped ceilings,…

📦 It's difficult to give a rational assessment right now, as it's clearly in Early Access. If you don't enjoy immersing in editors, designing environments, and sorting your things, then this is definitely not for you. The game currently offers a fairly average (for the genre) selection of design solutions. There are some strange limitations, furniture is glitchy, placement requires direction guidance, while items require collisions fixes and placing objects on N surfaces corrections. 📢 COVERS…

I want to love this game I really do. But it has too many problems holding it back. Every time I load into the game, multiple games get removed from my shelves for no reason and I have to physically put them back in. For a game whose whole selling point is organising your library, actually organising it is the part that fights you hardest. I can't choose what goes in, I can't take anything out, the games box hands them over in no order I can follow, and half of mine had no box art until I found out from a forum thread that there's a separate tool for that. The Steam Family I'm in adds 366 games I never asked for and can't remove, so my own collection is buried somewhere in the middle of them. The building…

I REALLY wanted to like and enjoy this game, but there are just too many things ruining the game for me in its current state. Firstly, trying to get game box art is way more difficult than it should be, I appreciate the app the devs made to try and help with this, but if you have a reasonably sized library (anything over I'd guess 500) the odds of the game locating the box art are slim. I spent my entire play time hoping it would eventually get to the letter M and never did grab MK1's art for…

I was very excited for something like this but having to have all the box art/game art on my computer to make it look like it does in the videos is very misleading. Very neat idea but for what this currently does you could pretty much do in any building game you already own without spending the money on it. If someone were to find a way to do it fully without having to download thousands of images it would be very cool. However with what Boxroom currently does and offers it is not worth it at…

This game is probably one of the most creative games I have seen on Steam: a fully customizable and usable catalog decoration and play system. It lets you truly appreciate all the games you have played or have yet to play. It gets massive updates and QOL every 2ish months and tons of features! 10/10! Nothing else like it. Ps: If you want all of your game screenshots and tile cards/images preuploaded instead of manually, use Box Wizard to upload all game art.

If i close the game and reload the save, it cant keep the collection on the shelves. It's cool, it won't make it easier to go through your library and most thing you'll have to do manually, it is very limited by the fact that is a steam game (so it has to follow steam rules on the way to do things), but still the amount of tools and customization makes it fun to just, make a room or place and decorate it however much you want. Revising to reflect the second update, editing my original review as the content updates happen: The game is in early release. There are bugs, but they are not surmountable. There is a "modern" update now that has a selection of "newer" things, but certainly through a specific cultural lens. This update has made the navigation a little rougher, as it is in a new catalog. You navigate between catalogs to find things like furniture paint, furniture pieces, lamps, etc. The slightly clunky vibes…

An incredible premise with incredible promise that's unfortunately held back by the game itself: the game is entirely about organizing and creating a space, but the UI/UX constantly makes it difficult to do just that. Was enjoying it, even after having to find out you need a wizard to get the cover art. However after 6 hours of laying out nearly a thousand games, all the shelfs were missing huge chucks of the games. After that I lost all desire to even play it.

genuinely I wanted this game to be good,, and I tried hard to ignore the steam reviews but they are right. It might be early access but they promise too much without much deliver. Such as the various videos online that say "you can play a game within a game!!" only to realize its not a cool system where I play on the ingame monitor or something, its literally like a hub in a game where you pick something and then sends you off to play the actual game. Another heavy complaint about this game is…

Lovely little game if you're looking to just chill out and build a comfy space to show all your games off in :) There were some changes from demo for getting box art into the game but there are some nice community tools already to make it all easier!

Genuinely only have one problem with this, and its the fact that cover arts just don't work. This one problem completely ruins the immersion and it sucks man

This game has an incredible amount of potential for just being in early access. I got lost flipping through the catalogs, turning over the game cartridges to read the backs, and decorating the perfect cozy room. It took me back to a simpler time, a slower time, when life wasn't so demanding. I enjoyed my time playing in just the first three hours. Yes, there are bugs, but I expected as much since again, it is still an early access game. So excited to see what the future holds for Boxroom. Keep…

Just needs more options added, like dining tables and chairs. More tv options would be cool too, or maybe a projector or something. A fish tank would also be really cool I think it would be awesome if you could watch videos inside your room. This game is allowing me to create my own cozy gamer spot exactly the way I want it, and it's been a joy so far. I am a little confused on the negative reviews with less than an hour of playtime. This game is exactly what is advertised, there is no story…
