[後半に日本語レビューあり] Don't Let the Kawaii Fool You: A Hidden Zelda-Like Action Gem At first glance, this is a lighthearted food-fantasy action RPG where a voracious knight saves the Gourmet Kingdom — swallowing enemies and projectiles to fire them back, conquering dungeons in a system that blends Kirby with Zelda. But the game has three endings. And the third takes a sudden turn into Lovecraftian dark territory no one …

Not an original statement, but sums it up the best: Buffet Knight is a brilliant fusion of NES–SNES–GBA-era Zelda with Kirby. The main quest follows a familiar formula - collect five items from five dungeons, then face the boss - but the countless fine-tuned touches in gameplay and story make the experience genuinely stand out. The level designs are exceptionally creative. Whether you’re watering broccoli to access …

What an amazing game! I know everyone probably is saying it in their own reviews, but what a perfect indie and retro mix of old school Kirby and top-down Zelda games! Huge props to the creator, Nowis337, for their hard work and dedication with their consistent QoL updates and soft …

neutral · AI labelView post →It is so unusual to play a game which is charming, witty, thematically consistent and contains nothing but good content, but to play one which lacks the trademark jankiness of its infamous engine wholesale? Whose soundtrack is banger after banger? With a Nintendo-level aesthetic, story, and design phillosophy? Which is simply... Dare I say... Fun? This is unheard of. This is, simply put, the best video game ever to be made with RPG Maker. A grand statement to open the review, but one I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly cool little Zelda-ish game. Never heard of it before it's release, took a chance, and I was instantly..."sucked in", sorry for the cringey pun, but it's true. There's puzzles, different biomes, upgrades in that classic Zelda/Metroid vain, where you can't access certain areas until you find 'so and so' upgrade, gives you that rewarding feeling when you can finally burn/blow up that tree or rock that has been preventing you from accessing that damn part of the map you have wanted…

The dialog is really funny and has puzzles that aren't too easy but not too hard I get frustrated. The soundtrack is also grade A. Overall you can tell there was a lot of heart put into all parts of this game.

I played through to the first ending, and while I had a couple times where I really wished I had some better hints than the fortune cookies (Particularly the boss in cloudland, I had the worst time getting the timing/alignment right there, and the treasure map-I was focused on the trees and not the rocks) ~14 hours in, and I'm anticipating about 3 or 4 more times over…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game is great! It perfectly captured the feel of the traditional Zelda games that I grew up with, but throws in enough new elements like leveling up at campfires and a projectile-based combat system. It has enough to it in order to lend a truly unique feel rather than just being another Zelda clone where you run around a green field and smack things with a sharp piece of metal. This game has a pretty good story and an excellent soundtrack to fit the mood, as well as multiple endings to go…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really fun and charming game! Despite the simple presentation and mechanics, Buffet Knight has a full world with solid dungeon design, fun puzzles, and clever gags. There was never a point where I felt like I was running on autopilot or bored, there was always something to do or a secret to uncover, and the dungeon level designs are intuitive and engaging. (And to those of you who solved that final puzzle, hats off and thank you for writing a guide! xD) The world itself is charming, with a…

neutral · AI labelView post →Cute, amazing soundtrack, very fun overall! Lots of old school zelda goodness to be found here, from puzzle centric dungeons to overworld exploration (I think it even let me defeat the second boss before the first). If you like Zelda on the gameboys or Kirby you'll very much enjoy this.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buffet Knight – Decadent Full Course, developed by Nowis-337 Games and published by KOMODO, is a vibrant and whimsical action-adventure that embraces excess, humor, and classic pixel-art charm. Its premise is delightfully absurd: you play a tiny armored knight whose greatest strength is not just skill with a weapon but an insatiable appetite. In a kingdom where food is treasure and culinary magic shapes the world, you must recover stolen delicacies, explore themed regions, and devour your way…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm usually not into metroidvanias. This one won me over with the intro video. It's a delightfully cute and simple concept. You are Kirby. Go find the stuff so you can cross the bridge and beat up the guy who took all the food. Each area you go through gives you a different power. ALL of the powers have some overworld use to a degree, there's none that's useless outside of the area you got it in. The music is great. It FEELS great. It's not super tough, but it's not meant to be. It's short and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buffet Knight has been a pleasant surprise! While I enjoy Zelda-likes & JRPGs, there are just so many of them. But Buffet Knight really stands out. It's like Zelda or Secret of Mana except everything is food and you have Kirby-like suck & spit attacks (plus special abilities!). Well made with good puzzles, battles, bosses & secrets. It's well-written, full of character, and makes great use of its Kirby-esque mechanics. Loving it. Fun for all ages. For more niche curation, follow me at:…

neutral · AI labelView post →Wow an amazingly designed game. It's a mix between Kirby and Zelda and I think it hit the mark perfectly. The adventure is well thought-out and has plenty of upgrades to find. The puzzles are pretty good. Of course the music is on point too. Hard to believe this is an RPG maker game. My one complaint is that you can overwrite your save during the ending, making you unable to go back and get the remaining achievements in that save. But very cool game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A respectable, appropriately priced action adventure: think Zelda: Link to the Past + Kirby's Dreamland. Soundtrack is 8-bit NES style. I'll keep this short. Gameplay is top-down, gameplay is inhaling enemies and the environment as ammo to shoot back at enemies. There are five dungeons that can be approached in any order, each with a level gimmick that turns into a permanent power-up when the dungeon is over. There's a handful of things to explore and bypass using said power-ups, and there's a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I only played a tiny bit of the game. But I can already tell it's not for me. This game is like Kirby meets Zelda. Eat things, shoot the food at enemies. Go on a grand adventure. It's very railroady at the start, but I imagine it opens up. I'm recommending it based on what I saw, and based on knowing that a lot of friends will enjoy it, even though I didn't. For instance, the controls are 100% remappable, even on PC, despite what the games one negative review states. You don't have to play…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably my favorite Zeldalike in a long time. And there are some great ones out there! It's not as huge or ambitious as others, but everything it does, it does really well. The map isn't gigantic, but there are no throwaway screens, and no irritatingly designed ones, either. The special abilities actually have a decent amount of variety. The "inhale" mechanic has great flow. Good QoL. Good writing: nothing feels forced, it's light and fun. It's really hard to find things to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The pixel art is vibrant and cozy, perfectly capturing a vibe that feels both retro and fresh. Particularly loved the fetch-quest tasks that reminded me of GB/GBA LoZ games. Yet another great example that proves indie games don’t need a ridiculously long story to be unforgettable. Grab your fork and dive in!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this right after Janosik 2 and they both have the same vibe - fun game in an old-school style with just a wacky amount of hidden secrets and powerups that you absolutely have no need for. The same thing happens in both, if you're an explore-type player you end up with so much health and money that the boss fights become trivial, and that's okay if you're playing a game for fun not for a challenge. I feel like this might have been a better opinion if the game at the very start hadn't…

neutral · AI labelView post →A fun, light-hearted action adventure game about eating everything in sight. I like that every action ties back to eating - it's how you attack, fill your item dex, level up and interact with many of the puzzles. With secrets to find, reasonably tuned difficulty (at least on hard) and a few customization options to change things up, I found myself enjoying the game from beginning to end. The narrative is simple and sparse, though some of its beats hit better than others (commenting on bad…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good game! It's exactly what it looks like on the cover: Silly, lighthearted fun where you go around on a wacky adventure, great for anybody who wants a relaxing little romp through a goofy world where nothing is that deep. The combat's on the easy side and it only gets easier the farther you get [especially if you like exploring], but the puzzles are actually solid to even really hard at times; I can only imagine the first person to ever find the secret boss took a good few hours trying…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I received Buffet Knight - Decadent Full Course from the developer through the Steam Curator Connect program about a year ago, and I apologize for not giving it a try sooner, since it's pretty neat. In short, it's a bite-sized (pun intended) top-down Zelda-like if you were playing one as Kirby, and I had a better time with it then with any Zelda game. It's also probably the most interesting game I've received a review copy of. You play as the titular Buffet Knight, a weird little purple dude…
