First of all, huge thanks to the Outright Games team for sending me a code to experience this game. Story and Characters The team's deep knowledge of the Ice Age universe shows in every scene. Scrat's Mediocre Buggy Adventure Is at best a 5/10 and thats only because i like Scrat , the achievements and collectables require you to go back through the entire levels all over again with no way to quit back to the main hub once you get them forcing you to do the same boss battles or sliding down ramps or puzzles all over again. I was pretty close to not recommending this due to how mundane it is, I glitched …

Reduced to its basics of course again a pretty average 3D-platformer, but actually I didn’t expect anything different from a typical franchise game. Like I said in other reviews before, I somehow take a liking to those ones, and in that regard it didn’t disappoint me. To be honest, lots of its design is indeed done well, animations are kind of good, environments are different, music is orchestral, sound effects are …

Ice Age Scrat's Nutty Adventure sits at 53% positive across 132 opinionated reactions from 3 sources. Fresh or rotten — where do you land?

Critics, per Wikipedia

The Nintendo Switch version received "generally unfavorable reviews" and the PlayStation 4 version "mixed or average reviews" according to review aggregator Metacritic. In a review for Screen Rant Robin Burks called the game "a poor imitation of Crash Bandicoot that was phoned in by the movie studio" and said that the game was "almost too simple, and provides minimal challenge, regardless of the age group." Ollie Reynolds of Nintendo Life was categorical when he simply stated "this isn't a good game", adding it was an "incredibly mundane platformer that's completely devoid of any originality or challenge." James Birks of The Xbox Hub however was more complementary, calling levels…

Strap in because this’ll be the longest analysis about an Ice Age video game you’ll ever see. In 2006 Ice Age 2 had a video game where you played as Scrat on a hunt for nuts adjacent to the plot of the movie. It is a game I love because of its tight controls and sense of adventure. Eurocom were the developers and they did a phenomenal job on something that didn’t need that much attention to development. Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure exists as a spiritual sequel to the game; created 13…

Now despite the fact I am unable to play this game, as Scratt appears to have an erratic and noteworthy seizure every time I attempt to play this hidden gem, it is ultimately a masterpiece. During my short experience of playing I was immediately travelled back in time, to the era of my youth, the golden age of PS2. After witnessing the prime graphics and reminiscing on how similar the games aesthetic was to Spyro The Dragon on PS2, I was immediately placed in an orgasmic trance. When the game…

It's one of those games where the devs don't care about the actual product and instead are trying to cash out on a popular franchise for as much profit as possible. To put it simply, it's a big smelly pile of dung. The gameplay is buggy and boring, it has terrible camera movement, the story isn't good and the graphics look outdated.

Honestly I thought this was a much older game because it plays so awkwardly. Controls got a little better when double jump was introduced but for the first hour of the game I was getting stuck on a lot of ledges instead of jumping over them without any clear explanation. I even had to kill Scrat to get out of a ditch I went down to smash some boxes. The camera would frequently disagree with where it should be looking, in particular when close to walls or under objects. It’s disorientating at…

A substandard buggy disaster of a platformer I am what you may call a 3D platformer connoisseur. I've played just about every 3D platformer on Steam and I am always on the look out for a new one to play. Which sadly new 3D platformers don't come often. With that being said, Scrat's Nutty Adventure happens to be one of the few 3D platformers on Steam that I hadn't played yet. It looked decent enough from the trailers and screenshots and I was also a big fan of the first two Ice Age movies as a…

I love the whole Ice Age franchise and I especially loved the game adaptations of the second and third movies, but this game is a mess. Within the very first minutes of playing the game, I already encountered a glitch that made Scrat glide endlessly over the floor like crazy frog without being able to be controlled again unless respawning. Another glitch in the very first level allowed me to glitch under the map and considering these bugs weren't even hard to find is pretty concerning for a…

It's hard for me to give this game a negative rating. I enjoyed the game very much. The sounds and graphics are okay, the humor is just great like in the movies. At the beginning I found it a bit slow, but that subsided over time. The game is pretty easy, there were no places where I couldn't get any further, enemies and puzzles were always easy except for a few boss fights. Unfortunately, the further I got with the game, the more bugs I had. Sometimes I fell through the world, could not run in…

Where to begin... I first want to say that this game was gift from a..."dear"....friend of mine. With that being said, I have several things I want to point out. First I'll start with the negatives. For a game that came out in 2019, the graphics look dated. It has the appearance of a game from 2009. Secondly, is the fact that this is obviously a port. On PC, the controls are rather finicky at times and takes quite some effort to get used to the awkward controls. Normally, movement and camera…

I wanted to love this game. I wanted a cutesy little platformer that played nice, but had some outdated visuals and wasn't anything special. I almost got that. Instead, I got a game that has tank controls, and no way to change them to something more modern. I would have recommended it, but when your character controls like Tomb Raider 1, you know you have a problem.

It's a waste of good IP, but now that I think about it, the studio that developed the Ice Age films, Blue Sky Studios, was shut down years ago in 2021, so I guess there's nothing to be sad about anyway. The game quality is low. The camera isn't working properly. I tried selecting the reverse camera/aim but it still wasn't right. Turns out the camera isn't controlled by keyboard or mouse or anything - it's mostly fixed to the direction the squirrel faces. So good luck with platform jumps,…

Buggy but fun. My personal experience with this game was fraught with issues, ranging from minor annoyances to more major and rage inducing issues. I was able to finish the game though, and I did enjoy it for the most part, hence this very tentative positive rating. The scenery, and some of the level design is quite nice, the general moment to moment gameplay is okay, it's all just pretty standard. So when it comes down to it, I went in expecting a generic Ice Age themed 3D platformer, and…

A decent platformer for what it is. I initially bought this for my girlfriend to play on her Steam Deck so she'd have a bit more to choose from, and she did get a few hours of fun out of it, but not much more than that, really. The game runs fine on the Deck, but it’s a bit plain for a 3D platformer by today’s standards. The gameplay mostly consists of running from point A to B across different levels, and it’s clearly designed for younger kids. There isn’t much variety or any particularly…

A bitter slice of nostalgia. Remember playing those licensed games from the late 90s~early 00s during a rainy afternoon when you were sick and didn't go to school? Remember how they used to make you feel? Well, that nostalgia is here in Scrat's Nutty Adventure but it showed me how barebones most of these 3D platformers can still be even 20~25 years later. The only reason I'm recommending this game is because it CAN be a very fun adventure! I'll explain why: The story has nothing to do with…

Ice Age Scrat's Nutty Adventure is a (badly) console ported 3D platformer that makes a tortured explanation for trying to scrape as much off an Ice Age/Scrat license as possible. You control Scrat in a 3D puzzle platformer temple (who's building temples out of stone during the ice age, before humans developed stoneworking???) collecting jewellery (made by whom??) in the shape of acorns (yeah that makes sense). 3D platformers can work as games, Mario shows us that, but this is just a cash…

Def the most boring action platformer i have ever played. Now you may wonder; if its so boring why am i recommending it? And the answer to that is pretty simple; Its because i am a 20 year old playing a game that is meant for children, so i can't really judge the game with same standards here. It is a bit glitchy/janky, BUT it is a very decent continuation of my childhood game Ice Age: The Meltdown* The base premise is that Scrat is trying to collect some crystal nuts. It is.. basic, but works and it allows to visit various locations related to film series without delving too deep into (subjectively) some bad plot points of the Ice Age 4+ movies. > Main gameplay is satisfying, the player character is responsive, so it is a nice and not hardcore platformer - though sometimes the…

You get a feeling this came straight from the mid 2000s, era of bad licensed tie-ins. But no. its a semi recent short generic game, that somehow barely functions on modern builds If this shovelware was actually polished, it would have been a very mediocre 3D platformer. The main issue, blocking Scrat's Nutty Adventure from being passable. Is that, it's almost impossible to complete. simple interactions with collectibles or enemies have a chance of freezing the character mid animation.…

This reminds me a lot of games like Crash bandicoot / Spyro just with HD graphics / animations. The story is pretty short only lasting 4-6 ish hours depending on how fast u go through the different chapters. But there is also a lot of collectibles to be found so if u include the story and finding the collectibles this will last u a good 12-15 hours. I'm probably just easy to please, but I really like this game. Most licensed games aren't good, but this one is fun. It's the gameplay that niche audiences enjoyed from the 2000s ps2 and gamecube Ice Age: The Meltdown game, but improved and with new things added. Plenty of fan service for the movies, and the different worlds and sections fit together seamlessly. The game feels like one really long level.

The platforming is not the most challenging thing ever and the soundtrack is a bit lacking, but the presentation of everything is incredibly cinematic and the environments are frankly kind of beautiful for a licensed game like this: details like raging rapids in place of invisible walls, vultures watching Scrat expectantly from clifftops, and grazing mammoths help make it feel like a cohesive and lived in world, rather than simply an obstacle course. Highly…

Issues with gamepad support -- it stops working 10 seconds into the game. Dev's solution to this "Unplug any usb device you do not intend to use as a controller/keyboard & mouse." :D

It's almost good but far too clunky and buggy for a £24.99 price tag.

Assuming you can play this game without perma crash on the loading screen, the game is very bad and it is not worth even with big discounts. The camera movements are constant, you can not fix your camera or slow down camera movement. Its terrible to control and gives motion sickness. Its also very buggy. There are all kinds of bugs- sound bugs, movement bugs, structural bugs,... I lost count of how many times I fell off the map or was flying in a different plan dimention of the level. Its a…

its a good thing i dont follow gaming discorse or whatever nonsense like with Mixtape and play games that actually matter. Games like Ice Age: Scrat's Nutty Adventure and Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash of course.
